Great! Thanks, that is good. Those fees sure can add up.

They can! Nice to know we skip out on some fees, eh? happy.gif

There isn't a fee to get your case forwarded from the NVC to the consulate. The K1 is a non-immigrant visa and thus not under those guidelines.

I'm pretty sure he'd remember to bring the return itinerary, but it never hurts to remind. (or point him to this thread biggrin.gif)

Definitely remember the return ticket itinerary - I brought a letter from work, my schedule for school for next semester, and the itinerary - and the immigration officer only wanted to see the itinerary proving that I was going back. I didn't mention the K1 since it wasn't asked, but when he asked why I was flying into the US, I was honest and said that I was visiting my fiance and friends in Philadelphia.

POE was Vancouver International Airport at their pre-clearance area - never had a problem going through there. I've also flown into JFK and didn't get hassled by immigration either.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAPRIL Filers!!

I'm terrified of our petition being Denied. I'm very young, and I have a serious worry that we may be denied simply because of my age (I'm 20, which is perfectly acceptable an age to marry a citizen. But I worry that they may try to play some sort of ridiculous 'immaturity' card when evaluating our case). Maybe I worry too much. :crying: Has anyone ever heard of USCIS causing problems for people who are younger simply because of age?

They may question you a little more thoroughly because of it, but I've never heard USCIS denying a petition simply because of age. Don't fret! :)

Hey to all my fellow April filers,

I've received some great news. :D

"Application Type: I129F , PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)

Current Status: Approval notice sent.

On April 25, 2007, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)..."

After receiving that email, I tried calling my fiance at work, and then ran around the house screaming in joy.

Here's to hoping that the rest of this process is going to be just as fast!

*waves the good luck pompoms for the rest of you all*

Middle East and North AfricaWhy you got Married/engaged to your spouse/fiance?!!!
Bee and I found each other through some very impossible odds, and on top of that, our personalities enhance each other very well. And he puts up with my cold feet at night. laughing.gif

Do I regret moving to be with him? Only when I miss the Pacific Ocean outside my window. But can I live without him by my side? Never again.

(Besides, this process has only made us grateful for what we do have in our lives.)

Hee, thanks for the responses. They've been really helpful. :)

I just hope that I haven't jinxed myself into prolonging the process. For all I know, it may take much longer despite our extensive efforts to prepare the application properly. :S

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVisa expiration date
Hey everyone. I'm new to the site and have been reading up so that I can prepare myself for the long process ahead. ^_^

Right now, I'm currently finishing up my degree in Vancouver and will be graduating at the end of August. Because of this, my fiance and I weren't sure when to file for the visa. At first we decided to wait until I graduated so that there wouldn't be conflicting times. After looking at the USCIS site and checking the processing times (9 months?!) we quickly decided that it would be a good idea to file.

My fiance and I have finally managed to get the paperwork together, and he mailed the package today to the Vermont Service Center. *cheer* However, after reading on these forums about how fast VSC is processing now, I'm in a bit of a panic.

I realise that the chances of me getting an approved visa within the next FIVE MONTHS is ridiculous... but if I do get an approved visa, how long do I have to enter the US? I've been looking for a concrete answer on USCIS's website but they don't give one, and my future in-laws are worried about me not getting approval because I'm currently still in school.

Any feedback or comments would be great. Thanks so much!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureshow soon can we marry?

Damn, I followed the link to the regulations for my state, PA and according to what that says in my state you not only need a SS# You need a drivers liscence. I guess they know when a guy gets married who is going to be really in the drivers seat.

Check the marriage requirements according to your county in PA, because each county has different requirements. My fiance lives in Chester County and their website states that only one person needs the SSN in order to obtain the marriage license. They didn't even mention a driver's license.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurestime of being together when we apply
I visited my fiance in PA while we were waiting for our NOA2 (and subsequently, we got the letter while we were together!). I went with a copy of my schedule for the upcoming semester in college, a letter from my employer stating specifically that I was on holiday and would be returning to work the day after I came back from the States, and an itinerary of my return ticket.

At the POE in Vancouver, the guard asked me what the purpose of my trip was, and I told him that I was going to visit my friends and fiance. He perked a little at that, then started asking tons of questions about me and my fiance. Then he asked, "Do you have a return ticket?" and I laughed and said that I definitely had one since I was returning for my summer semester at college. He asked to see the confirmation for my return ticket and then told me to have a great trip.

Let me tell you, I was damp under my arms when I was allowed to go through the gate.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures90 days to be married...when?

From this site http://travel.state....types_2994.html I saw that the visa is only valid for 4 months from the date of approval. Thoughts?

Extending the Petition

The I-129F petition is valid for four months from the date of approval from USCIS. Consular officers can extend the validity of the petition (revalidate the petition) if it expires before the processing of the visa application is completed

The PETITION is valid for four months.

The Visa is valid for 6 months meaning the beneficiary has 6 months to use it to enter the US one time.

Oh, my bad! Whoops! :P

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures90 days to be married...when?
That's what my fiance and I are planning to do. Because we're not sure when we can have the big fancy wedding once I'm allowed to cross into the States, we're just going to have a civil ceremony and get the paperwork started, then plan for the real ceremony afterwards.

*sigh* I hate to wait to wear the pretty white dress later on, but I'm kinda glad that I don't have to plan a wedding on top of this process.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresApplication Receipt Number?
Michele,

I know my case number started with an EAC, followed by (I believe) ten digits. You can try to see if that ALC number works on the USCIS site, but that's just a thought. I'm the type that would try every single combination of numbers from the back of the check. ;)

Hopefully you'll receive your NOA1 soon, regardless. Good luck!
