PhilippinesUPDATE WITH OUR CASE!
In my entire life, this "WAITING" I think is the most hardest I've done..But the GOOD thing is,my fiance assure me that once it reach june 6 and NVC still don't have our case..We will do all the other options!!!OH btw,His vacation is still in a 50/50 chance of coming into reality...WOW!!!His work is being so dependent on him coz of so many idiots and unprofessional co workers..SIGH:(

I'm still happy though,So much peace of mind and happiness,GOD IS GOOD!!!for I HAVE THE BEST OF THE BEST!!!

PhilippinesUPDATE WITH OUR CASE!
At least i can calm down now,Who the hell wants to just wait in vein without knowing what is to expect to happen next.My fiance decide to call USCIS once again before doing the scheduling of an INFOPASS,Gladly we do not need one..At least even we have to wait the best consolation is you know the reason for the waiting!

This is what my dear LOVE says,,

After waiting for 12 min and then another 6 minutes to transfer to 2nd level Researcher. They give me this information.Even though that lady is VERY evil. She is very knowledgeable in these matters. She tell me there is NOTHING to worry about. The papers are NOT lost,They are in the computer system and needs to be updated but we are like in a line, because other people that required another review get additional waiting time. She said that it will take even all the way up to Thanksgiving, but most likely in June.IF there is nothing moving in June then she gives me the next instruction because we are not yet overdue with the 60 day time limit.I will email for Batch Number to track it.This woman speaks so fast to me and I'm writing everything as fast as I can...SHE IS VERY MEAN,SHE WAS DISRESPECTFUL. and treat me like an idiot because she said nervous people are always calling to make things go faster but that its NORMAL for additional time for applications that are reviewed again. She said our paper work is APPROVED,but take about 2 extra months time to process...thats just their idiot way....Like a punishment delay for messing up in the paperwork in the 1st place.

Isn't Thanksgiving is in November?hahaha!!!to all the people who helped me and assist me with so many options on what to do..THANKS A LOT!Now i have to be beautiful coz my fiance will visit us for 2 weeks in 3rd week of june!!!

PhilippinesMarried and Sooo Happy!

Hi VJ friends,

Wilma arrived last Friday, May 14, and we were married here in San Diego on Sat May 15. So far things have been wonderful. She is such a beautiful person and I am very thankful to God that I've found her. We seem to be a prefect match and are both happy with our decision. I haven't been posting much lately because we are just coming down from our honeymoon time and I finally had to start going back to work....that's hard to do but a necessity.

We have a few photos from our wedding posted here:

http://www.visajourn....php?pos=-24060

http://www.visajourn....php?pos=-24061

Here's some tips guys:

If you think you cleaned your house and think you've got it "filipina ready".....think again! Wilma has been non-stop cleaning! And wondering how I could live so messy....I said you should have seen before I cleaned it. The main thing I hear is "omg it's so dusty....you never dust?"

Make sure you show your new bride how to use the exhaust fan over the stove and tell her about this little device called a "smoke alarm." Yesterday I finally went to work and left Wilma alone for the 1st time and she started cooking her some breakfast, and ummm well she set off the smoke alarm and she said she freaked out and began running around screaming......

Not sure if it's just my Wilma, but she is always worried about ghosts and sleeping in the dark. We have to leave a light on..... and she's scared to go in some rooms alone....and always wants closet doors closed.

Better get ready for tons of calls back home to PI and a bit of homesickness. Wilma hasn't had a serious homesickness problem yet, but we do live in San Diego and we have lots of fun activities.

Be prepared to explain how home appliances work....like washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, microwave, stove, oven. These things are not as common in the typical Filipino home. Wilma kept calling our toaster oven a microwave for a few days. :D

Grocery shopping is much different here as we tend to shop for the whole week on the weekend, they tend to shop for the next 1-2 days because they don't have big freezers/refrigerators or kitchen storage space. So they go to the market every few days.

Always give her lots of love n affection...she'll need it. She sacrificed a lot to be here and left family/friends behind.

Take Care everyone, good luck on all the journey's ahead.

hey there you are friend...CONGRATULATIONS and BEST WISHES plus big hugs to both of you!!!May Your life together as married couple be as blessed and fulfilling!!!GOD BLESS YOU BOTH!!!

All the things that you write here make me laugh.. But this is definitely what my Love will tell me once i arrived in our house..I'm always afraid to break or ruined any appliances... :bonk:

PhilippinesCan my wife take her mother with her to the interview?

My mother-in-law will travel with my wife to Manila for the interview, but she wants to know if her mother can actually go into the embassy with her and wait there.

With so many posts i have read about this, I think NO!If she take her mom,she will have to just wait outside!Good Luck!

PhilippinesWhat is FORM I-539?
This is my last posted thread here,
http://www.visajourn...1

The last time I checked our online status it says;
On April 6, 2010, we mailed a notice to you reaffirming the approval of this case and returned the case to the Department of State for visa processing. For more information, please contact them directly.

Now,here is what is written in our status;
On October 8, 2009, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I539 APPLICATION TO EXTEND OR CHANGE NONIMMIGRANT STATUS. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

Can Anyone here pls educate me?? What the heck is FORM I-539??This is getting ridiculously long and worst I think=(..I still wanna see a little light with this waiting.

PhilippinesTO ALL FILIPINA experience about calling NVC
That is exactly the same thing that had happened to us.Except our time line is kinda abnormal.Approval then back to USCIS then RFE then Approval again..LOL!We received 2 notice letter last april 3 the Re affirmed notice plus that idiot letter saying that our case is forwarded to the listed consulate. But that is just a BIG FAT LIE!Look at our time line, its just recently that USCIS sends our papers to NVC even they send us an approval notice last april 6.And I'm so glad that the embassy in Manila already have the electronic copy of our papers.I'll look for my old posts maybe the replies there will help you.I do hope yours will go fast.I've been in your shoes once.i did emailed, called the direct line of the embassy and so many other things you can imagine! We even had lots of arguments about all this. But everything will go to an end..GOOD LUCK!

Don't listen to the script readers at the call center. Instead, call them back every day until they set an interview appointment. If they ask you whether your fiancée has received notification from the Embassy, tell them "yes."

My darling will not do a single white lie,, :bonk: I have proved that in so many ways!!!He said we've waited so long and did everything the right way so why LIE.. In a way i agree with him. I'll just spend our remaining time here in Pinas malling, shopping and spending quality time with my family while waiting more

We called NVC today just to ask if they already send us that IDIOT letter.. I know my fiance will still call everyday  and annoy those call center agents :bonk:

My darling really knows how to surprised me.. He went directly to his boss for the sign for his employment letter.. ..He was able to FEDEX the affidavit of support, Tax transcripts and w2's 2004-2009, recent 3 months pay stub, plus the letter of employment..

But one more things,do the affidavit have to be notarize? He didn't notarize it but a lot of people here telling me conflicting things. Some say it have to be some says NO need!

PhilippinesHelp my VJ family..I'm worried:(
All the documents, forms and Evidences I will need for my interview are already settled. But I have one concern that bother's me and my darling , the employment record of my fiance that i have is not updated its jan 2010. We used this on our daughter's CRBA. He want to send me a new one but he's not sure if his boss will be around this week and if he will be able to send it in time of the interview. My interview will be on the 12th. The good news is tomorrow he will send through FEDEX his recent 3 months pay stubs, his income tax returns and w2's from 2004 - 2009.of course including the affidavit of support.

will this be a problem during my interview coz the letter of employment I have is dated 2010?

PhilippinesMy Interview Experience

I woke up at 3am (I only had 1 hour of sleep :hehe: ). I took a shower while Babe was still in bed and snoring. LOL.

4:55 am- We went downstairs and walked to the Embassy. At exactly 5am we were on the Embassy premises and there were already many people at the waiting area.

5:30am - The guard called for all immigrant visa applicants who had 6:30 am appointments. We fell in line with our appointment letter and valid ID’s. The guard then checked the appointment letter to see if it matched the name on the ID and verified the date and time.

We then moved along to the waiting area with the benches. While sitting at this waiting area we met Mizhael Smith (Zharina and her hubby Mike). Before 6:30am we passed through security and entered the embassy. We presented the appointment letter to a staff member in a small enclosed cubicle (I don’t know what to call it. ) at the entrance to the main visa processing area. A list consisting of Appointment letter, “DS230 form” and 2x2 photos were posted on the front window of this booth. I thought these documents would be needed so I had them ready. The attendant only took the first page of the appointment letter and gave me a number and told me to sit down and wait. She didn’t say that the numbers are flashed on an electronic sign board with the corresponding window number. A sound similar to a door bell is rung to alert the waiting beneficiaries that a new number is being serviced.

We sat and waited for my number to be flashed at the queue board. While we were waiting, expecting to see our number on the board, they called my name on the loud speaker instead. We were told to go to window #16. My fingerprints were taken electronically by a young female staff member.

After finger printing, I was told to return to the waiting area and wait for my number to flash at the queue board. After about 5 minutes passed, my number flashed along with the number of the window in which to proceed .

This is actually a preliminary screening prior to the final interview. The questions posed in this pre-screening interview were:
--- Name?
--- Date of Birth?
--- Place of Birth?
--- Name of husband?
--- Husband’s date of birth?
--- Date of marriage?
--- Where and when did you meet?
--- How many visits the husband made?
--- Where either of you previously married?
--- Do either of you have any children?
--- Do you plan to work in the US?

The pre-screener asked for examples of greeting cards sent by the husband and just 10 photos of the two of us together specifically to include wedding photos. I spent sleepless nights compiling and organizing all my evidence and she just asked for cards and 10 photos. How about that???

After having been interviewed by the pre-screener we were told to go back to the waiting area and wait for our number again for the final interview.

After more than 20 minutes my number along with window # 29 finally flashed on the queue! I don’t know why, but all of a sudden I got butterflies in my stomach! Nervousness attacked me!!! :o :o :o . Good thing, my husband was there to have fun with me because I was very nervous and shaking.

We went in and greeted our consular. He spoke Tagalog fluently. He asked us raise our right hands and swear that the information we were about to give was the truth.

The questions posed in this pre-screening interview were:
--- Names?
--- Date of marriage?
--- Where and when did you meet?
--- Were either you previously married?
--- Where do I intend to live in the US?

The consul was very friendly. He said that he likes when papers are very organized like mine were. He and my husband had a very friendly conversation about where my husband’s home town and the consular’s upcoming job transfer. After flipping all the pages he said magic words “YOU ARE APPROVED”.

My husband asked if we could pick up the visa since we’re staying at the hotel near the embassy. He said yes, gave us a pick-up stub and told us to proceed to Window “Y“. We waited for approximately 5 minutes and my name was called . We then proceeded at Window “Y“. The lady asked for my cell phone number so they could contact me when the visa is ready for pick up. My husband asked if there was a contact number to reach them if we did not hear from them about my Visa. She gave us a card with a contact number.

9:15am- We were done and went straight to the hotel across the street and had breakfast.

Only 6 hours after my interview, I was surprised to get a call from USEM telling me my visa would be ready for pick up the following day. Wow!!! That was fast!!!

My husband and I want to thank everyone that helped us in our “Visa Journey”!!! :)

data entered on the 129f is first transmiited to the Embassy. the physical paperwork has to be at the Embassy to schedule an interview. guess it's kind of like the speed of an email vs snail mail. email is within seconds. snail mail takes a few days.

I totally agree, when my fiance first called it was only the electronic copy that the embassy have so they told us to wait for the hard copy to arrive at the embassy..just be patient

I just wanna be 100% sure with everything.Coz I saw a lot of questions here about which forms to bring. While I'm filling up the DS 156, I had an error so i printed a new one.But it had the same bar code as the one that i had error with,I just talked to one vj friend and she said that those have different bar codes :help: Is that true?

Hey Cathy!!! I'm glad they finally sent your papers.. Phew!!!! Your hubby sounds like he did a pretty good job of getting your place ready. Magaling!

I've been very diligent about making space for my sweetiepie.. I'm so happy she's arriving in less than 2 weeks. To think, two weeks from today I will have woken up next to the love of my life.. I can't wait!

My fiance just called Embassy they said they only have the electronic copy and we have to wait until they received the hard copy..LOL! We will try again monday here..Oh at least they have the electronic copy :D

PhilippinesThe 25 Day Shuffle & Share

So maybe it's just me but the PI boards have been a little dull as of late.. I was hoping to maybe kick off a fun thread..

So today is officially 25 days before I pick May up at JFK and to say I'm excited would be an understatement. I wanted to share some of the things I've done to prep for her arrival and ask others to share their stories about picking their significant others up at the airport for the first time..

  • Cleaned the whole house
  • Made tons of room for her in our closet
  • Order The Filipino Channel & AT&T U-Verse
  • Made a shopping list of some foods to pick up the day before she arrives
  • Arranged things she sent back with me from my last trip (women's products in bathroom)
  • Bought a 25 lb bag of rice

So what did you guys/girls do? What are some other helpful things to ease the homesickness? I've been living by myself for about 4 years now so the condo has plenty of room for

Also how awesome was the airport pickup/drive home..? I'd love to read some stories... B-)

Jared, I  with the bag of Rice..

As of now, this is what my darling did,

1.Bought a car seat for our little princess.
2.Arranged his closet too and removed all the clothes he don't wear anymore.
3.Baby proof the whole house since there will be a little active toddler who will run around.
4.Thinking of so many nice places to bring me and our daughter...

The rest he have to do with me.LOL!btw, when do you think should we call embassy?coz they finally sent our papers..At long last!
