PhilippinesManila Embassy contact info

Not sure why YuandDan are replying here. I was thinking his wife immigrated from China. Anyway call 632-528-6300 X5184. Call early in the morning 7:30 to 8:00 AM Manila time. Keep trying if you don't get through. Any later in day Manila time you may not have much luck getting through. Good luck.

IIRC the recording says they don't open until 8am. Lina kept trying over and over right after 8am and got through pretty quickly. Machine-gun speed dial works.

PhilippinesK1 interview may 24, 07

UPDATE! Im APPROVED! JUst got a TEXT from DELBROS saying MNL2007**** delivery will start tomorrow .... SO IT MEANS AM APPROVED!

 Congrats!

We remember that feeling. One of both tremendous joy and even more relief. Make sure you're there for the Delbros courier. Oh, and try to get your AOS stuff submitted before the fees go up. ;)

PhilippinesK1 interview may 24, 07
I could be wrong but in my opinion no one is officially approved the day of their interview. We all asked if we were approved after the CO interview and at Window 37 and everyone we talked to got the same answer, 'Everything looks okay. Pay the Delbros fee and wait for your visa to arrive *OR* to hear from us'. Lina was interviewed on May 16 (Wednesday). I called Lorraine on Monday morning and was told the case was still in process. There was no definitive answer whether she was approved or on AR. I was told to call back on Wednesday. Another couple who interviewed the same day said they called later on Monday and were told the case was approved so I called on Tuesday morning. I was told Lina was approved and to check with Delbros. Her visa was released to them that night and delivered late the next day. So like I said, I think the only way you know for sure that you're approved is when the visa is released to Delbros.

PhilippinesAnyone with experience in I-601 and hardship waiver at Manila

If he is here in the U.S. you can try filing an I-485 to adjust status. I can't believe you have an attorney telling you otherwise. Doing it this way doesn't mean you won't have some hurdles of course. But, it seems better than taking a chance on going back to the Phils.

You are not eligible to Adjust Status if you entered the country as a non-immigrant crewman. The OP's husband did just that, so the only other option is getting a valid visa and entering the country on that. Not everyone that "is here in the US" can adjust status based on marriage, i.e. overstay or falling out of status is forgiven because of marriage to a USC. There are still some cases that cannot adjust status....so they must either voluntarily leave and pursue other 'legal' ways to enter the country....or eventually be subject to deportation.

-P

That is correct regardless of the overstay. The C-1/D visa does not allow adjustment of status. We checked into that option. ;)

PhilippinesAnyone with experience in I-601 and hardship waiver at Manila

I'm confused. Why do you have to file for 'extreme hardship'? My wife was a crewman (C-1/D visa in the US) and in and out of the US from 2003-2006. We had no issues with our K-3 visa process. Her activity in the US was asked about as was her canceled C-1/D visa (canceled when her employment terminated with the cruise ship) but it was not a problem with her process.

I have been told by more than 1 attorney that because he entered the US "without inspection" and stayed for more than 1 year we would have to file the waiver. I don't remember the exact date he entered though I did see the slip stamped by the Coast Guard. He is currently in the US but we have to process the visa application at the embassy in Manila because as a crewman, he is subject to a 10 year ban. In his case, he didn't complete his contract and in essence "deserted the ship". He did already get his NBI clearance though without any issue.

However, we wouldn't file the waiver until the visa is denied so maybe we will get lucky and not need it. Boy, would that be grand!

Thank you very much for taking the time to respond. I may be contacting you again.

Shannon

Oh that's a totally different situation. My wife worked in the cruise industry for 7+ years and was in and out of many countries including the US but she never overstayed her ship leave. When her employment was terminated she was taken from the ship to the airport where she sat in homeland security until she boarded her flight. There was nothing illegal in this but it was still asked about during her interview with the pre-screener and CO. I would expect they are going to ask the same during your husband's interview. My advice is to answer honestly because I think they'll be a lot more understanding for a mistake than a lie. Good luck! :)

PhilippinesHypothetical question

Aloha kakou,

Our papers recently arrived in Manila. However we still have no NOA2. What if CSC continues to be clueless and Joan's interview comes around and we still don't have it??

Mahalo,
Bill and Joan

Technically, Joan won't be needing a copy of NOA2 during her interview, however, you will need that in doing the Adjustment of Status in the future. Keep on calling CSC and inform them that you haven't received the hardcopy.

That's exactly what I was going to say. Have you checked your I-130 status online? Our status is still, 'Current Status: Case received and pending', yet I've got the hard copy I-197C NOA approval notice sitting at home.

Make sure you keep on the CSC as you will need that I-130 notice for AOS. Good luck!

PhilippinesK1 interview location

Is Cebu still available as a location to request for my fiancee's interview( it's closer) or is it only Manila now? Thx

I've never heard of Cebu being an option for an interview (someone please correct me if I'm wrong). A friend of mine and his fiancee went through Manila in 2003 and she's from Cebu so if it was an option I would expect they would have used it instead. You can get the CFO sticker in Cebu though.

PhilippinesNOA2 Hardcopy Not Received
I think you need a copy of the 'hard copy' of the I-197C approval notice (NOA2) for the Adjustment of Status process.

A month is a long time. Our hard copy arrived in the mail less than a week after the approval. In our case I didn't even know our I-130 was approved until I got the hard copy. I never got an Email and our status today still says it's pending.

PhilippinesCFO Sticker

i forgot,,,, asking if how long is the seminar would last? just 2 and half hrs give or take, so if you're taking it in the PRISM (taft ave) you could run to quirino manila to get a certificate before they closes at 5pm. then when you have the visa already, you just have to get back and tell you've paid (dont lose the receipt) show them the receipt and the certificate then wait for your name to be called again. most likely an hr or so depending on the crowd

She will take it in Cebu. Will she be able to get everything there as well as in Manila? I hate for her to go to Cebu then find out for some strange reason again that she has to go to Manila to get the Cert. or sticker. It seems like there are so many variables with going through the K1 visa process. Every time you turn the corner there is another missed step or something that wasn't mentioned. Grrrrrrr.

Thanks,
charlie

I've seen other posts saying - like the seminar - the CFO sticker can be done in either Manila or Cebu.

PhilippinesCFO Sticker

My fiance took her CFO seminar in Cebu and she has the documentation proving that. Does anyone know if she can get her sticker in Manila after she receives her visa? I sure hope she doesn't have to go back to Cebu but it would really suprise me if she did!

Thanks for any replies!
Kevin

i think ive heard a couple of girls did that and they have it stamped in manila. let your fiancee call the CFO office in quirino (manila) to make sure

I concur with RonMay. Since your beloved has the G&C Certificate, it theoretically/logically should not matter which CFO location applies the "sticker" to her passport/visa. However, you should call the CFO in Manila to verify. We all know that logic and theory are sometimes out the window when it comes to some policies, procedures, or practices.

Sheriff, so what is the corect procedure? Can the fiance take the seminar before getting her visa? My fiance MJ has her passport already so if she took this seminar to get it out of the way what would she do then? Neither of us have the patience for this, hahahaha. This is truly a test of patience to say the least and something that I hope I never have to repeat in this life time again.

How long is the seminar?

Thanks,
Charlie

Yes, she can take the CFO seminar early. I don't know the expiration on the seminar but I know taking it early is okay. I think Lina did it about 2 months prior to her interview. It's a good idea to get it out of the way early so after the visa arrives all you need to do is get the CFO sticker. Good luck!

Edit: Hopefully someone else can answer how long the seminar is. I know getting the CFO sticker took about 30-45 minutes and we got there right after they opened but there was 15-20 people ahead of us.

I wanted to add that if the petitioner is with the beneficiary while getting the CFO sticker the petitioner is not allowed to go into the room with the beneficiary. I waited in the main area with the guard and chit-chatted with him. In fact, he asked who my wife was and went to talk to someone inside. She was the 2nd one finished so I think he helped us. :)

Philippinessooo thick emails......

i am about to finish printing my emails and it is sooo thick. i know that emails are very important evidences but do i need to bring this very thick emails??? i would appreciate it if you guys could give me some advice regarding this.

GOD bless us all in this journey!!!!

As Sheriff Uling said, you should have just a few samples to provide the pre-screener. We had a bunch of pictures, email, chat, SMS, letters, cards, etc and the pre-screener only wanted a sample of them. We had to do the sorting when we were standing there. I can tell you from experience it's a lot easier to have the samples selected in advance than doing it when you're in front of the window. ;)

In my case, we don't email much. we are more on the phone (phone cards). How can I establish an continuing relationship? FYI. We have been in communication for 3 years prior to marriage.

Pictures are important. Also hand written letters, chat logs, SMS logs, cards, and phone logs if you can do that.

PhilippinesLatest Info on I-134 for Manila Embassy?

i'm asking on behalf of someone else. i tried to do a search but it's taking too long. :D for the financial support documents...

- as of today...I-134 notarized or not? i read the packet 4 letter and it does not say notarize anymore.
- tax return & W2 requirement - latest year only, right?
- employment letter still required?
- latest paystubs required? if so, 3-6 months worth?
- bank letter optional?

did i miss anything else?

FWIW I used only 4 paystubs - the equivalent of 8 weeks - and our case was processed without issue.

She's flying through Tokyo? Sorry. I did not like that airport. It's big and confusing and warm. My flight from Tokyo to Manila was almost an hour late and the people at the gate were clueless. Philippineshow many day takes during interview
We arrived around 5:30am for a 7:30am interview. There's not much point in getting there way ahead of schedule by the way. Another couple had the same interview time as us but they arrived at around 7am. We finished at the same time - a little before noon. I'll try to list the process - someone please correct me if I'm wrong:

1. Wait outside for your interview group (by scheduled time) to get called into the embassy. NO CELL PHONES ALLOWED by the way. Go in and sit down where the guard tells you.

2. Wait there until the guard calls your row to get your ticket number - don't lose it or give it to anyone until Window 37 by the way. Return to your seat.

3. Wait and listen for your name to be called to go to finger printing. Return to your seat.

4. Wait for your number to display on the screens and go to that pre-screener window. Give them everything they ask for and return to your seat.

5. Wait for your number to display on the screens and go to that CO interview room. Sit outside until the current interview concludes - usually only a few minutes. Return to your seat after the interview.

6. Wait for your number to be called to go to Window 37 to pay the Delbros fee. Go directly to the Delbros booth near the waiting room entrance.

7. Wait in line to pay the courier fee.

8. Wait nervously for your visa to arrive.

Notice the first word in every step? From the time you arrive at the embassy to the time the visa arrives that's what you'll be doing *a lot* of. :jest:

PhilippinesImmigration lawyer

hi there again...just wanted to know who among here availed the service of an immigration lawyer to 'hopefully' fasten the process? is it advisable to hire one?

That (bolded) can not happen. There's nothing you can do outside of being in *very* select situations that can speed up the process. The only thing an attorney or immigration expert assistant is going to do is make the process easier for you. If you've got a complicated case an attorney may be the best option. If you've got a simple petition chances are an attorney is only going to cost you money and possibly more time. Most attorneys will consult you for free and an honest one will tell you if his/her services are necessary. ;)

I hired someone - not an attorney but someone who is very experienced in Philippine/US immigration - to assist us with the process. I probably didn't need to but it was worth the $$$ to have someone to ask about specific questions we were unsure about. If you want his info PM me and I'll pass it on to you.

PhilippinesRecommendations For Manila Hotels For Medical & Interview
Not related to the St. Lukes or US Embassy but if you're looking for a nice (but a little pricey - $110 USD?) place near the airport I'd recommend the Heritage. We stayed there the last night because we wanted to relax in a nice hotel before flying home and with the airport less than 10 minutes away it's very convenient. The rooms are big, clean, and comfortable and there's a nice breakfast buffet included in the price. You can also eat at their dinner buffet but it's a little pricey. Our dinner of 3 people with a couple of drinks each was almost $90. Another nice thing is if you've got a lot of luggage you can schedule a van for 1300p. Not cheap for such a short ride but they were right on time and easily held our 4 big bags and 2 carry ons. Given the overall cost of this process we considered this 'splurge' night in the luxury hotel a drop in the bucket and well worth it. :)

Congrats! :) We went through the same thing because of the unknown. They will not say you're approved but they don't say you're on AR either - you're left in limbo. IMO you never know you're approved until the USE releases the visa to Delbros. If you're in the Metro Manila area your visa should be delivered tomorrow. Hi Mae,

The hardes part of the visa process is the waiting. The interview is not difficult at all but the waiting until that day with all the buttflies in your stomach is the hard part. Just try to calm down and your interview will got well.

God bless you all and just take several deep breaths to calm down.

dean

That (bolded) is so true. Lina's interview with the CO was between 5-10 minutes. Sure we were both a little bit nervous during it but it wasn't bad at all. It's over before you know it. The tough part is not knowing for sure if you're approved or not after it's over. Like everything else during this process you're told to wait. The worst part of that waiting is the unknown. I will say this, once the visa is in hand and you've got the CFO sticker it's a HUGE relief! Good luck all!

Thank you, PW.

Any idea where to check visa appointment? I tried to check the link posted at the US Embassy website (since Friday) , but I always get an error. Is this normal for everyone? I mean, getting an error message.

From your error message and what everyone else is reporting it looks like their site is down. I can't ping it and a tracert dies after 21 hops. Last response is 203.177.7.206 (which is pingable).

Hello everyone,

Can you please tell me the email address of the US Embassy to which i can ask if i am on AR or if they have stopped processing my visa. Thank you very much.

-seshi

You can call the Embassy (Lorraine @ 5184) but you're not going to get a definitive answer one way or the other. We were in 'limbo' after Lina's interview and looking for a status update. All we got was it was still in processing - no idea if we're on AR or just waiting on the process. The next day we were approved and the visa was released to Delbros. The visa arrived the following afternoon. Did you pay the Delbros fee? If so, you should be able to put in your tracking number and see the status. Your tracking number is your case number + 01 at the end. So if you're case is MNL2007555555 your tracking number would be MNL2007555555501. Good luck!

They have asked Kathlene to come back for the next three days at St Luke's, because they did a second CXR and want to follow up with sputum tests. The told Kathlene they informed the embassy that she would have to re-schedule her appointment.

Will the embassy re-schedule automatically after the tests if they give her an all-clear or will we have to request another interview?

We are both so sad now because we were so excited about the early appointment and now we are afraid we are looking at a several month wait again for another appointment, plus we are worried about the test results now as well.

Sorry to hear you're going to be delayed and hope everything comes out okay with the test results. Hope others who see this do an early medical just so they don't get stuck if there's a problem that takes more than a week to resolve.

Lina's visa packet was just delivered by Delbros approximately 3:35pm. :dancing: Too late to go to the CFO for the stamp on the passport but that's okay since the visa is in hand. We'll do the CFO stamp tomorrow.

Congratulations on the visa delivery. That must be a wonderful feeling. I hope I'll be doing the same as you just a little over a month from now.

Thank you. I have to say the feeling is more one of relief rather than joy or happiness. The worst part of this process is the unknown and being in near total limbo the entire time. To have the wost part over with is a huge weight off of our shoulders. Now just the CFO sticker and POE and adjustment of status and work authorization. Does it ever end? ;) No biggie, the rest of the process we'll be together so I don't mind it.

Good luck to you starprog. Us ilocano have to stick together, hehe. So how is learning ilocano going for you?

Ha ha, I'm terrible at learning new words. Every time I visit, the kids teach me the words for all the animals and plants and food, etc. But by the time I've returned home I've forgotten most of them. I rely a lot on my dictionaries and the online dictionaries. But whenever I try to write something to Fely in Ilocano or Tagalog, she'll say "Hon, where did you get those words? Its all wrong, but I know what you are trying to say." So I guess the answer to your question is, I'm doing terrible with learning Ilocano. But I will insist once she gets here that she'll teach me, because I really want to be able to talk to my wife without anyone else knowing what we're saying.

Funny you should say that. I'm trying to learn some Tagalog so I can communicate with my wife's friends and family that don't know English. It never occurred to me the benefit of being able to speak in a language very few others in the US would understand. That's more motivation! Lina is Ilocano too by the way. :)

Good luck to you in the interview. If Lina or I can be of assistance feel free to PM or Email me and I'll be glad to help.

PhilippinesManila Embassy Interview/Visa Status

All

Just a quick question... Is two weeks enough time to allow receipt of visa (after interview) from embassy and delbros? or should I book flights to allow more time for visa to arrive?

Thanks

Lina's interview was 5/16 and her visa is scheduled for delivery today so one week from interview to delivery. I've got flights back booked for 5/25 so we cut it close. I think as long as your interview goes okay and your case is released by the embassy within a reasonable time 2 weeks should be enough. It all depends though. If there's any delay at the embassy for whatever reason you might be stuck changing return flight dates.

You could also request a pickup. Jeff & Fria did and theirs was allowed. They interviewed on Wednesday and picked up their visa Friday afternoon. If you do request a pickup make sure you request it after the interview with the CO as they are the ones who say yes or no.

PhilippinesManila Embassy Interview/Visa Status

hi everybody,

i'm a newbie here in the manila embassy thread. this is my first post though i have been lurking here for a long time now. we just got our NOA2 on May 3 and received our MNL case number from NVC on May 14. I was expecting my interview would be scheduled 3-4 months from now. But I was really surprised when i checked the US embassy appointment schedule and found out that I was already scheduled for medical appointment on July and my interview date will be on July 11. I'm kind of shocked right now since me and my fiancee has not really started gathering all the documents we need. Now, my question is when do you think i could receive my packet 4. If i want to have an early medical appointment, could i go there even if i haven't receive yet my medical and interview appointment letter from the embassy. My fiancee hasn't receive yet our NOA2 hardcopy in the mail so i can't even show that. I'm panicking now. so much to do.. so little time!

thanks!

Lina was told she could do early medical as long as she has the printout of the case number with medical and interview scheduled on it.

Packet 4 usually takes about one month from the time your case is received at the US embassy.

Your fiancee should receive the hard copy of the NOA2 soon.

Our current status:

5/23/2007 8:00:11 AM SHIPMENT OUT FOR DELIVERY
5/23/2007 7:59:07 AM SHIPMENT BEING PREPARED FOR DELIVERY
5/22/2007 7:03:41 PM SHIPMENT RECEIVED AT DISTRIBUTION CENTER
5/22/2007 6:06:35 PM SHIPMENT IN PROCESS
5/16/2007 2:50:37 PM SHIPMENT PROCESS IN THE EMBASSY

Delbros said the delivery could be anytime between 8am and 5pm. I've been poking my head out the door looking down the drive for a sign of the courier. If I've looked once I've looked a hundred times - maybe more. We're hoping it arrives soon so we can go get the CFO stamp. Then we can finally relax. :)

How can I track my visa delivery from Delbros? Can I get their website?

thanks.

Go to Delbros main page and input your MNL case number with '01' at the end. For example, if your case number is MNL20079999999 you would use MNL2007999999901. You can also call them directly or send an SMS message with your tracking number followed by the word 'status'. Good luck!

thank you...could you please give me the link to their main page?

Delbros Homepage There's a section on the right side that says 'Shipment Tracking'. Input your tracking number (the case number with 01 at the end) and click 'Track Waybill'.

We didn't get an SMS message to alert us that the shipment is on the way but here's our Delbros website status as of 7pm Manila time:

5/22/2007 6:06:35 PM SHIPMENT IN PROCESS
5/16/2007 2:50:37 PM SHIPMENT PROCESS IN THE EMBASSY

Based on orimai's status update it looks like Lina's visa should be out for delivery either tomorrow or Thursday. As long as we can get the CFO stamp done before we're scheduled to leave on Friday I'll be happy.

Good luck all!

Good luck to everyone who has their interviews today. I still remember watching the number screen with the 'doorbell' ding dong. :P

I called Lorraine at 5184 this morning and was told that our case was approved yesterday afternoon. That's a big relief for us. At least we know that we're not in AR now. I just hope we get the Delbros SMS soon so we can get the visa. I requested a pickup from Delbros but they said they don't allow it. I even offered to pay extra or a 'tip' and she just laughed and said she couldn't do that. :P She did say it would be delivered next business day within Metro Manila so hopefully we'll get that text message from them soon. We have flights together going back early Friday so we're cutting it close now.

is it okay to bring a photo album for the pictures?

Our prescreener asked for select pics, chat, email, etc so have them prepared in advance and further info if needed. We have our entire history of communication but were only asked to present a few at the pre screener and the CO never asked.
