IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedureswhat's a good sign after the interview?
I suggest you read reviews left by people who were interviewed at the embassy in Islamabad to get some idea how it works. They normally Do not let people come back to the embassy to pick up the passport and they use American Express for delivery. As for signs... in my case, at the time of the interview my passport was returned to me along with the original documents we had submitted plus with a token and sticker on the back of my passport and a letter stating my case would undergo AP. I was assured by the CO that I should hear from them within 2 months and alhumdulillaah I did. I am a female and my husband was born in the US. For other people, especially men, it seems being forwarded to AP is common and that flags can be raised for no apparent reason such as a common first and last name etc. So each case is unique and it is not easy to predict how your case would go. In any case, keep an open mind and hope for the best but be prepared for delays. If your husband has traveled outside Pakistan before, ask him to take along all old or expired passports. The easier we make their work, the quicker this process will be over. I remember the consular officer noted down all my previous passports' numbers. So go prepared, take along all possible documents and photos so nothing is left behind and be prepared for AP in any case. All the best.

ok so i know for sure that my husband will b interviewed sometimes in july. just curious that what's a good sign after u're interviewed??? if they give back originals/take the passport and ask u to come back to pick or they'll mail the passport...???
i mean i'm worried that that Islamabad embassy will put my hubby in AP but i guess they'll say the actual word "administrative processing" to him after the interview if he's required to go under this process.
how do they even determine a person needs to go through AP??? my husband is doing his MSc and has no criminal record, and doing a teaching job.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresArranged Marriage

Hi All,

While reading some posts & links on this forum, it seems like, many people suggest that at time of interview, it may come up as to when, how we met, & then the relation developed & then marriage happened & so on. There are still a lot of marriages happen as arranged marriages in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh & other similar countries. Same true in my case. I was planning on telling the truth & if asked was going to say that our marriage was an arranged & it was arranged by family members. So we met when marriage happened.

Is this something reflect negative & can decrease chances of a successful visa interview at the consulate?

Thanks & Best Regards.

Hello,

The Consular Officers at all the embassies know the local customs and traditions. For them in Pakistan, a case of Arranged marriage is not unusual. So If you told them at the time of the interview that you had an arranged marriage (which I believe is also the truth), don't worry about it.

I hope this answer helps. Also, all the best with your interview and the rest of the visa journey.

regards,
SAL.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhat do you need to send with the I-130?

This is a do it yourself message board, with emphasis on DOING and YOURSELF. Download the I-130 instructions and study them carefully. Then carefully study the CR1 visa GUIDE here. Just click on the word "Guides" at the top of any page here. Once you DO that YOURSELF, feel free to come back and ask your questions in the CR1 visa forum. The K3 visa is no longer available.

I like you very much pushbrk. You make life easy.

Dude RiaB...check USCIS' website http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis to get updates about the I-130. Apply for a CR-1. Do some research on this forum and if you have any questions, pushbrk and all of us are here to help you out.

I don't know about USCIS but the US Embassy in Islamabad called me on a Sunday to inform me of my visa. So I guess they do work on weekends. USCIS however I believe doesn't.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresregarding marriage certificate

Yeah but not stressful as it was exciting lol ;) I just wanted to peek out and see what was going on but my husband kept sending in his cousin to be sure that I was ok and not afraid lol...yeah hes going to go take care of the translation in a couple of days...All it was was a matter of the person doing the paperwork didnt add correctly but like I said our names are spelled correct, my bday his bday our parents names are all correct... but i think the worse part is just the waiting... :( with all the talk of delays it scares me...but hopefully we will all see some progress..very soon..n thanks for your reply :)

and btw..we have some wonderful pics of all his fam with the mehndi and the nikah...and the valima not to mention some wonderful days with mom and dad and his sister and her family on outings in karachi...beautiful place!!!

Yeah talk about excitement, I was nervous but who doesn't love the wedding, clothes and food :) If you are the petitioner, the more evidence goes from your part the better :)
BTW I'm from karachi too and its nice to meet you here :) I hope this would be a smooth journey for you both. Visa Journey will help you stay sane :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresregarding marriage certificate

Yeah, we are working on the new one now...everything else is correct on the documents bdays, fathers name etc...actually when we married it ws just a few days since my birthday so we didnt' notice that and the person putting the info together didnt either...lol I was in a tiny room by myself so I couldnt tell them all the info myself ;) we married in the masjid...;)

I can imagine :) the whole process of Nikah is so stressful and the families including the bride and groom are freaked out. perhaps the problem can just be fixed by writing down the right age on all 3 originals and then get a translation of that. keep us posted on your progress. also for I-130 when you file it, make sure to send in some wedding photos too and affidavits from family/friends to further establish proof of a bona fide marriage. the more stuff you send the better.
All the best.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresregarding marriage certificate

i wanted to know ..that on our marriage certificate which is known as nikkah nama in pakistan the age of my wife is not correct on that will it matter???and what shoud we do please tell us what to do :( help us

please

thanks

Disregard Faizan and Ruby's post because the nikah nama we have in Pakistan is actually the registered document so all you'd be needing along with that nikah mama is a certified translation of it in English. Wife's age not correct will be a problem and you would need to get that fixed to not cause any problems further down the line. Make sure all information is correct and matches the ID cards and Passports or you'll get in a lot of trouble. As for name change (which women often do and I do not recommend it), if she is a Pakistani citizen, ask her to go get a new Nadra ID (not chaning her name) but just changing the section where it says father name, that should be replaced by Husband's name and then once she gets her Nadra ID, ask her to apply for a new passport. Two advantages: 1. She'd have a valid passport for the next 5 years so you don't have to go renew it later here in the US and 2. it would have your name on that passport too as her husband. I got it done and things went smoothly. But first, fix the age and then get an English translation of the nikah nama from the Qazi's office which would come stamped and sealed.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresProblem with my Wifes Police Clearance Certificate, PLEASE HELP ASAP!

Thanks for the reply guys. Also, the Police Certificate is just a template with her information filled in and it is handwritten and not type written. Do you think I should send in this police certificate and include a letter? If so, what should I write.

Yes that is standard template. they are lazy as you probably know and they don't only not do they work for what they get paid for, any extra work is a burden on them too so don't bother. Just add a letter stating you had noticed the typo after you brought the papers to the US and that they police made that error. If NVC would want a new PC, they'll inform you soon. You can also state that the beneficiary will bring along another PC at the time of the interview. Hopefully NVC wouldn't cause any trouble. The reason I suggested a letter of explanation is because I know how much of a hassle it is to get a PC in Pakistan. Bribes and all, a huge pain. So unless its easy for you to get a new one, just add a letter of explanation and let them know your wife will bring along another certificate to the embassy. All the best!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresProblem with my Wifes Police Clearance Certificate, PLEASE HELP ASAP!

Hello everyone,

My DS 230 package is all ready to go out. I just looked at my wifes police certificate and there is a problem. Her ID card number on the certificate is incorrect. Her ID number is xxxxxx681 but on the police certificate it is incorrectly listed as xxxxxx618. The "1" and the "8" numbers are reversed. All the other numbers are correct it is just that those two numbers are in reverse order. I do not know what to do. I have my package all ready to go out. The Police department made this mistake. How can I rectify this situation? I do not want to receive an RFE for this or have her have trouble at the embassy.

Please help me out!

In my limited understanding, the Police Station messes up documents routinely so what you can do is perhaps write a letter along with the Police Certificate and state that it was typo made by the police station who issued the certificate and send that in with the form. Note that the police certificate expires in 3 months so by the time she is scheduled for an interview, I'd advice that you ask her to get another certificate made and take it to the embassy at the time of her interview and hand that in too. I had one sent in with the DS-230 and then one more for the interview and when I reached US and caught a glimpse of my file at immigration, I saw that new PC on top of all the documents. Its not something that could get her in trouble but its better to not take any risks and make her life easy. I hope this helps.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNeed Advice

i would like to know
i married a US citizen Her name is Emily Smalling
when we got married she converted to islam
so her new Muslim name is Ameena
on the Nikah Nama known as Marriage certificate
its says Ameena Daughter of James Smalling
and we also got Certificate for New Muslim but the question is in Urdu and the answer is english that her preivous name Emily Smalling
New muslim Name Ameena
so will it cause problem?
Need Your help

I have explained this issue to your wife. It was a mistake on your part (the groom's part, who is also responsible for filling information on the nikah nama) to write her new name when she had not changed her legal name. In my note to her I've explained that she doesn't need to change her legal name and if USCIS is confused and sends her an RFE then in that case she should send in a copy of her conversion certificate along with a note explaining the problem. Names and date of birth are important so they should match the name stated on her Passport, SSC and other legal documents. I'm sure she used her legal name (Emily) to file the I-130 petition in the US. Like I told her, it can be confusing for USCIS so she should be prepared to explain this to them.
As for your other post regarding the marriage certificate, I want to know what documents you submitted with the I-130 petition? Primarily to establish proof you need to send your marriage certificate along with a translation since the original is in Urdu. For NVC, you should send in your original birth certificate since it is already in English and doesn't need to be translated. As for a translation for your marriage certificate, contact your qazi as he could refer you to someone who will translate it, and then get it stamped, signed and also receive a seal from Qazi's office who would verify the translation. I still don't know what did you do about the marriage document you submitted with the I-130 petition

QUOTE (b4byd09 @ Aug 2 2008, 01:17 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I requested an expedition of my k1 two days ago under the criteria "extereme emergent" which will suit the incidents taking place in North West frontier Pakistan (close to Afghanistan borders). As some of you already know the sitiation down there through news and papers etc. I was told I wil be contacted by local USCIS office sometime soon. Do you guys know what would that be about? Do you think they are gonna ask for a proof or they will look upon the reasons themselves? Even if they do ask me about proof how can I provide that to them?

IN MY OLD POST:

I am from N.W.F.Pakistan. Yes, that would be the hot zone right on the broder of Pakistan and Afghanistan where the fight is on rise between Pak Army and militants are blowing every place in the city. My fiance used to teach at Army Public College and I told her to quit going there cause the militants threatend to blow up the college since it belongs to Army, so now she is out of job. She can't step out of the house cause the city is not safe. I am really worried about her and trying to find a way to get her out of that mess as soon as possible. Can someone give me a direction if there is possibility that USCIS would understand my concerns?

She cant go to work either that means my expedite fits "Severe financial loss to company or individual" as wel. Any comments you fellows?

Your fiancee's life is in danger so yes they will understand if you can explain your issue to them properly. Gather evidence like news reports preferably from western media and press and explain the circumstances she lives in everyday. USCIS I am sure will approve the expedite. I just wish she was your wife and not just your fiancee as that makes the case stronger. But all the best to you.

Sara.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 - petitioner got cold feet - final interview Monday (in 3 days in london) - What best to do
Paul,

Its disturbing to know about your situation. People would say everybody deserves a second chance but this whole idea of first living together to see if two people are compatible for marriage is just hard to understand. You moving all the way to the US, leaving behind your work, family, friends and what not just on a chance to see if this works out seems like a rather risky decision. In the end, if you both manage to fall back in love in the true sense then no one on earth can come between you two...but please do remember...if someone's can retreat once...chances are they will retreat again. Imagine her retreating from you after you get married and get stuck here in the US...and what if you are not even able to find work here. Its a huge decision on your part knowing how a man's role of the provider of the family is. I wish you all the best but please be careful.

S.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK visa interview in pakistan

hello, i got engaged recently. my fiance is a US citizen and i am from Karachi , Pakistan. Just wanted to know that if i apply for k-1 visa... will my interview be held in my town , Karachi or will it be in Islamabad?

Apparently the US Consulate in Karachi will be interviewing cases of K-1 (finace) visas as per the information provided by the consulate's website. But before you jump the gun and worry about the interview, embrace yourself for the USCIS process. You might need to fill in some forms and send them to your fiance if you plan to apply for a Fiance' visa.
S_AL_FemalePakistan2011-03-22 23:49:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresExpecting
I do not know about USCIS but the Consular Officers at the Embassy are trained to understand the local culture and what is acceptable/unacceptable in that culture. If I were a Consular Officer determining your case (and since it is a fiance' visa), I would keep in mind the cultural background of your fiance and suspect possible immigration fraud that perhaps he is trying to force his way through to the US since you are pregnant. I do not know the unseen but a Pakistani male who is being sponsored by his pregnant USC fiancee can raise some major flags and doubts towards the authenticity of this union. I'm in no position to judge/analyze your situation but whatever facts you've mentioned about your case, my advice would be to not mention the pregnancy and if you truly want him to be there with you as soon as possible, I think you should go marry him and file for a CR-1 asap instead of taking a risk with a fiance visa. As far as the duration of the process goes, I know cases where the wife filed to expedite the case on health/humanitarian grounds and that sped up the process but I do not know of any cases from Pakistan where a pregnant fiancee had approached USCIS to speed up the case/background checks.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiling for K1 after nikah in Pakistan
Adzy you could get in trouble for polygamy since the nikah (which those who do not know) is the registered marriage in Pakistan. Once your divorce is finalized in the US, go back to Pakistan and redo the Nikah (for paperwork). It isn't a big deal since I had to re-register mine too after getting married in Europe. My spouse came to Pakistan and we signed the papers. In your case, you'd have to have a new date on the Nikah since the proof has to be established that this marriage did not take place while you were married in the US. This is the only way you can apply for your spouse or else you'd raise flags and your wife will have trouble getting a visa.

Finalize your divorce and get a divorce decree.
Go to Pakistan and redo the nikah
Come back and file for a CR-1 visa

Do not try any 'shortcuts' or your wife in Pakistan will suffer the consequences.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCan somebody help me with the questions?
Hi,

I am also knew, but i think i know what your lawyer did wrong...
I think he sent your I-129F like it was an application for a spouse K-3 visa, and not for fiance K-1 visa...

I m saying this because i also filed for I-129F/fiance petition , but i filed for it in the Nebraska service center, because that is the service center that takes petition applications from my state, Missouri....

However, that petition was denied, we then married in england, and filed I-130 , and I-129F /spouse K-3, which the application for the I-129F K3 had to be mailed to Chicago, IL, like you are saying your lawyer did.

the service center you should have your I-129F mailed to depends on the State that your fiance is a resident in... --Filing the Petition--

"You must file the Petition for Alien Fiancé(e), Form I-129F, with the Department of Homeland Security's U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) office that serves the area where you live. See the Department of Homeland Security's USCIS Field Offices for information on where you can file the petition. Note: You cannot file this petition at an embassy, consulate or U.S. immigration office abroad. "

http://www.uscis.gov...htm#anchorMAINE <---go to this website, and find the state that your fiance is a resident in, and you will find the service center that she should send the application for I-129F K-1 visa to.
O yeah, and i had a lawyer to , helping me with my AOS, and he told me that i didn't need to include proof of employment, that those instructions from the NVC were out dated, and he was so wrong...so you can't always trust them...

I hope i was able to help, if just a little.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresdrope the lawyer is good decision or not?
Dear Friends,

As you all know about my case; I have been writing so frequently, I hace recieved a query from NVC for the missing docs at first our lwyer did not submit my original docs when it was requested after online bill payments now we received a query, the query recieved in pdf form with the bar code sheet but with general instruction we called NVC and they told the bar code sheet will be same but the particular query will be sending you shortly, my bad luck, the particular stating query I recived with damaged PDF file and now NVC is trying to resent and they will take couple of days more.

Upon confirmation on phone I have collected the original docs and sent already to my husband in US, the bar code sheet will be same BUT now our lawyer is not sending my documents he wants to get the email first from NVC and he told my husband that the bar code sheet will be different which is not correct bacuse I personally confirmed fom NVC. our lawyer is guiding wrong and moreoever why he didnt follow the instruction as stated in the website and why he didnt ask me to fill the DS230 and just write my name and submit the same to NVC and he shouted on my husband why your wife is listening to others and such visajourney website and why your wife made the police clearance unless it is not diected by NVC, he is such a dumb why shouldnt I? if soemthing has already been instructed me online they why shouldnt I.

I told my Husband to drop the lawyer and now we will proceed ourself, I called NVC and foundout the way they just want in writing that we droped the lawyer and in future the correspondence should be recived by petitioner.

I am really surprised that in USA such dumb lawyer exist and how did they get the license to work against the instruction he simply wasting my time and money.

Please suggest me is it good to drop him or should we wait more or what should we do?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat do we have to do?
I'm no expert on the filing of papers....but my wife says that you can not start any papers until after the divorce or you could get in serious trouble legally. The best thing to do is:

1. Track down your husband.
2. Obtain a legal divorce and get your decree in you hand.
3. Once you are divorced go to meet your boyfriend and if you want to marry (after the divorce) do it, but get your divorce before you do anything!

In the meantime keep the communication with your Moroccan boyfriend going, cheer up and try not to cry too much, we all miss our sweethearts and hate the distances! You have come to the right place for support and advice. Good luck! :-)

I am worried too ... it is rare! I thought that was because Pakistan region is involved but i guess its not. Dont know what is going to happen... just waiting and hoping God has some good instore for us.
I hope u guys get a response soon and so do we... Good luck...
btw... there is another thread where a couple has similar problem... they got their NOA2 on 3rd Sep and still NVC hasnt got their NOA2..... huh... hope our problem is solved soon.. i wasnt expecting it..
