National Visa Center (Dept of State)affidavit of support
QUOTE (saran @ Feb 6 2009, 05:35 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
our case was F4(brothers abd sisters of US citizens).we were interviewed on feb05,2009 and were denied because as the officer said.the petitioners income was not enough to support 10 people(they are 6+we are 4).we offered them to see our bank statements but they refused saying we need a co-sponsor.
i do not know anything about poverty guidlines and all this stuff.
all i know is their anuual income was 52000$ lst year.and according to the poverty guidlines for the year 2008 the money should have been 54000$.they also showed some of their assets.
now the question is was he denial a right one.
and can anyone who is not even related to us support us.of course a us citizen or permanenet resident.
please help.

That is true. in order for the assets to help they will have to show more than the difference....so if it is a difference of 2000 they need to show maybe a house or something that would i think be 4 times more the difference

National Visa Center (Dept of State)K3 vs CR1
Hello,

If the K3 visa interview is scheduled and one goes ahead with the interview while CR1 is also approved, gets the visa stamped on the passport, does that automatically eliminates the CR1 process or can one continue with that too when the interview is scheduled??
Or should we just inform the consulate for the K3 visa that we are not interested and wish to continue with the CR1?

National Visa Center (Dept of State)k3 or Cr1
I have heard that some try to convert the k3 interview into the cr1.
So if we decide to pursue the K3 visa since it has already been sent to the embassy, and schedule and interview which we try to convert to cr1 interview (yes i know people have been unsuccessful in doing so)
but k3 requires me to send the original documents to the embassy while the same original documents go the NVC for the cr1 with the ds230
so how have people managed to pull both through and attempt to convert the interview??

you can mark on NO but the problem is, that there is just little bit of space where you can click in between text box and check buttons. Just a millimeter i guess because the text box is overlaying on it.

I also were not able to click on it earlier but now i can click on it.

Call NVC and ask for the Interview Date, the operator should be able to tell you.

Is this for all countries. I thought for some the embassy schedules the interview themselves. Any clues for Pakistan?

As Arun mentioned, there are a few people having issues with payments, and the timing of payments.

yes they were both rejected. i have tried processing the payments again so lets see what happens. my bank has confirmed there is no error on their side, but of course i will never get NVC to accept that its something on their end and i just love that about them

what exactly you printed out the receipt or coversheet because they both are different. you can print out the receipt at the same time when make the payment online. but coversheet you will be able to print only when the payment is complete which takes couple of days.

Definately the coversheets (yes both) with the barcodes on them.

you are right than, its between NVC and your bank. tray calling bank and find out whats the reason. If your payment is back than you can make again. and may be they can use the same bar code sheet. Its hard to convince them though.

so yeah, i just called my bank right now, and they say there is no problem at my end, (bank). Its all about NVC screwing up! Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Africa: Sub-Saharanvisa approved

Hi VJ family sorry i havent posted since my husbands approval on Jan 11-10. its been crazy!! but finally good news. He was told to return and pick up his visa on Jan 22-10 only to be told that he needed to complete the DS230 form again, because they misplaced it somehow. Even though he signed page 2 during his interview, they lost the form. so my husband spent 2 hours trying to complete a government form, that he was not at all familiar with or even knew the answers too. for example, my parents date of birth, place of birth, etc. he had to call me at 230am to get this information.

after he finally completed the form, they told him they had to give him a new date to come back and pick up his visa (Feb 5-10). we were both so upset about this, i was even more upset when i realized what form it was!! because he had his file with him, with all of the copies of every form inside. he never thought to look inside his files. The DS-230 form, he had it with him all the time. However, even if he had given them his copy, they needed time to process it again. he was dissapointed in himself.

so thankfully all went well when he returned to the embassy on Friday feb 5-10, he received his visa!! I thought he would be jumping for joy, but he was so cool and calm, and emotionally devasted by this entire ordeal. we're both so happy this is over. I just want to thank my VJ family for your hugs and support.

Im so grateful to all of you. now i have to prepare for his arrival, im looking for the best airfares from ghana to sanfrancisco. i didnt realize one way fares were more expensive than round trip. pray for me.

congratulations

my fiance was at the consulate at 6am and was not called till 1050am to the window. The prescreener was overwhelmed with the evidence she kept telling my fiance its too much documents.

The CO was nice, he asked how long my fiance has known me, He had looked into our album and documents and stated he has seen everything and it looked good.
He also asked does he have any family here in the US. Whether they get along with my family? He has about the phone records, he stated he do make alot of calls and he asked my fiance about his phone number and if i had any other relatives in Ghana and he said yes. Because i was born and raised in Ghana. The CO stated we have overwhelming evidence and he is approved...

Africa: Sub-SaharanFinally visa approved at Lagos Consulate!!!!!!!!!!

Hello VJ Members,
Its my pleasure to announce to you all that my fiancee's visa has been approved at the Lagos Consulate. This visa journey has been tough. We overcame all odds. My fiancee returned to the consulate at 1pm. His number was called and he returned to the insane Asian CO who interviewed him the second time after we were initially denied the first time. She asked him if he had the documents that she requested, and he said yes and he presented it to her. She then asked When was the first time we saw each other, how long did we stay in Dubai, what i did last weekend? Then she started again to drill him on the emails that were omitted because we were calling each other husband and wife. He asked her "I thought we went over this already"? She continued by saying that American ladies dont address each other as husband and wife unless they are married and he told her that he doesnt consider me to be American since both of my parents are Nigerians. She then said that how does she know that we didnt get married in Dubai? He said that we didnt because Dubai is a muslim country. The Asian CO looked at my fiancee for about 5 seconds according to him, and she asked him if he had his passport. He said yes. Then she typed something on the computer and he gave him a yellow paper telling him that he should pick up his passport with his visa inside next week Tuesday March 2. I recommend everyone going through Lagos Consulate to pray hard and be very prepared and be ready to fight and defend your relationship. I would like to thank everyone who has helped and supported me through these trying times especially:
Africa Sub Saharan members: Thank you so much

Africa: Sub-SaharanVISA FINALLY APPROVED!!!

I just wanted to let everyone know that my fiance was finally approved at the Lagos Consulate today.

We are happy, but I think relieved and free describes our true feelings at this moment.

It was a very stressful and life paralyzing ride but with God's help, love and grace we finally made it through.

Interview 1 January: Blacked-out emails - CO wanted to see originals
Interview 2 February: CO says a joint sponsor is required
Interview 3 Today, March 11: Approved

I purchased a ticket last month to Lagos because the consulate experience was really wearing me down. I will be traveling to Lagos at the end of this month and we have decided to pick up his visa and tell everyone on his end together. Right now we just want to keep this nugget to ourselves.

To all of you preparing to go through the Lagos Consulate.... expect the unexpected, be thoroughly prepared, believe in your love, have faith that love conquers all and most importantly PRAY!! You will need it.

I want to say an extra special thank you to all my VJ friends that offered a supportive ear.

GOD BLESS

Congratulations!!!! now please pray for us....

ARMANI KHANMalePakistan2010-04-23 23:29:00
Africa: Sub-SaharanAP after Visa Approved

Sometimes in higher fraud rate countries, the Embassy will run an additional background check on the beneficiary after the interview and prior to actually issuing the visa. It could be that your fiancee has a common last name and it had a hit in a database somewhere or the Consulate simply wants to do one final check before issuing the visa.

Also, sometimes it is a random AP where the Embassy takes a certain percentage of petitions and subjects them to an additional check before issuing the visa.

In Middle Eastern countries, EVERY beneficiary is subject to AP because of the world climate.

I hope your AP is short and the visa is issued soon. Best of luck!

Alan

So today I finally received a reply to the email I sent Accra more than a month ago requesting them to email me my fiance's appointment letter. My fiance picked up his packet on May 12, so it's all after the fact. The email they sent me states that he picked up his packet on the 12th and that their records show that his interview is scheduled for NOVEMBER 2ND. That's weird, because the date he was issued with his packet is NOVEMBER 1ST!

So I guess we will be showing up both days, just in case.

My aunt who is a US citizen filed a petition for my mom about 11 years ago.The immigration case is F-4.We underwent the immigration process and did things as directed by the NVC.
In the last stage our aunt has completed and sent the papers to the NVC.
What is gonna happen next??
i want to know
1.How long it will take to complete our case at the NVC??
2.can my aunt inquire about the interview date on the phone once the case is copmleted at the NVC??
3.We live in pakistan how long its gonna take from now untill we have our visas in our hands(me and my brother are the derivative beneficiaries)?
4.I will turn 21 on jan24,1988 would they give us a an interview date prior to my birthday??
5.It took 8 months to complete our case at INS would they give me the advantage of CSPA(child status protection act) according to which the time from fillingthe case to the time untill it is approved is subtracted from the age of the children.I wonder if it is applicable to me(since i m derivative beneficiary in F-4 type of vias application)!!

plz try to answer all my questions..

suggestions to expedite or help are wlcome.

1) Use the timelines, timing tends to be the same as CR-1/IR-1 http://www.visajourn...t...an&dfile=No

2) Consulate will send out an invitation Packet

3) The I-130, and DOS dont indicate age of sibling's children, so I dont know if age 21 is a factor.

5) James shortcuts, but you indicate already sending in DS-230

6) Once case gets to consulate contact DOS Visa services about Expedite, or ask if age 21 would be a problem.

http://travel.state....o_308.html#visa

7) See 6)

8) NVC sends out a letter to petitioner, or contact NVC by email and ask: Do it once a week or so.

http://travel.state..../info_3177.html

9) See 6) above, contact DOS visa services AFTER you know NVC has completed and sent the petition on to consulate.

10) Just gave you my 2 cents worth.

and do u guys know about any of the amendment in the immigration rules
(i)because i have read that if the derivative beneficiary becomes older than 21 before the interview that he cant travel with his/her parents.so it means the interview is the main event that decides wether the child can travel with his parents are not.

(ii)somewhere i read that the child has to b under 21 when he arrives in the USA(this is probably the old law abolished now).it means if u have an interview prior turning 21 but fail to arrive in the USA before u turn 21 u will b left behind.u cant go although u had an interview before u turned 21.
(iii)some people say that ds-230 must b filled before the derivative beneficiary.the interview date doesnt matter.may b this is the new law.

If you gave documents to ISL Embassy then ISL Embassy will give u an interview date, and i u gave to NVC with ds-230 part2 then NVC will appoint an interview date,
as far as CSPA and ur age goes, it took 1 year for NVC to put CSPA on me, i dont know weather you are in CSPA or not, you should immediately call US Embassy to expedite your case

Affidavit of support must have been submittted by your petitioner. When NVC receives your DS-230 forms with other civil documents submitted by you, it will be reviewed and if anything is missing, NVC will still get intouch with RFE, but i. not, then NVC will wait until visa number becomes available.Right now, the priority date being treated for your category is 15th of November, 1997.So keep an eye on the monthly bulletin to know when visa number is likely to be available for you.

Affidavit of support has been submitted and our priority date became current many months ago.our priority date was probably may,1997.
and they sen a checklist cuz some documents were missing those documents were submitted later and the petitioner got another checklist indicating that everything was fine.now we are waiting for the interview.idk how long its gonna take.the problem is that i will turn 21 on 24 jan,2009.
if i m given the advantage of CSPA then 10 more months can b added.but i m not sure cuz i have seen many cases in which the embassies didnt call those who turned 21 beofre the interview.
