Hi. I just sent the DS-230 packet to NVC this morning. As I read some information here in VJ and in NVC website, I came to realize that there is a slight difference between the mailing address mentioned in the cover sheet and the mailing address mentioned in NVC website & VJ Forum.

The barcoded cover sheet says:

Received my passport in two days.. ?
Flying to US this weeknd… ?

As a whole it was very good.. and most of us got it approved. luckily very smooth.

I am very happy to inform you that my wife had her interview on Dec. 18th 2009 in Bangkok and had her IR-1 Visa in her hands Dec. 22, 2009. The key here is to know the answers to these questions because they ask variations of the same questions. Sometimes they feed you information that is wrong to see if you catch it. For instance, one of the questions the interviewer asked was "So your wife owns an apartment right?" This is wrong, I actually own a home. So the correct response was "She actually owns a home in ........" Also, I know that there are some that have been advised to answer "Yes" or "No" to all questions. I think that if you have more information, you can add a little more background. For instance, the interviewer asked.."So your wife went to "blah blah college right?"...My spouse answered "Yes, but she has post graduate degrees from blah blah college too". It shows the interviewer that you know more than the basic information that they are asking for and puts them at ease. Knowing key dates of where and when you met is critical and if there are other life events i.e children, divorce etc, know those facts stone cold. Also there was a question that he didn't know the answer to and he said so. No need to manufacture information if you don't know it. It's better to say.."I don't know" than get into a Spanish Inquisition contest with the interviewer (you won't win).

Be confident, know and practice the interview questions with your significant others and be organized. There is no need to carry mountains of evidence to the embassy. It's not the quantity of the evidence that matters, it's the quality. Call logs, chat logs, pics, email for the last 12 months should suffice. Pictures of the traditional wedding is key if you are both of Nigerian descent. Dress well and be as relaxed as you possibly can given the situation. You want to give the impression that it's not such a big deal (even though we all know otherwise..lol).

Guys,
First and foremost, I'd like to sincerely thank each and all of you here for helping each other with valuable information. As a result of these, almost every day people like me write posts like these indicating "visa granted" or terminology may be different in different phases of success.

My wife was granted visa last night (our time). She will go back to the embassy to pick up her passport on Thursday and fly out on Sunday. I am excited and glad to put these heart breaking process behind now..Nonetheless, it was quite an experience. If I've learned anything from this it is "you cannot beat time"..Things will fall in place and take it course when it is due..Easier said than done though..

Again I like to wish all of you the very best..and strongly hope for those of you still waiting, the good days will soon come.

Hello!
My husband's interview was this morning (8 AM - New Delhi time) and the visa was approved. He was told that he will receive it in 1 to 2 weeks.

It was fairly smooth, took a little less than 2 hours. The following questions were asked during the interview:
1 - When did you meet your wife
2 - When did you get married
3 - Where does you wife work
4 - Where do you work
5 - What is your qualification
6 - How many people were at the wedding

They did not ask for any documents, just the Medical report.
This is all I can think of, if anything else comes to mind, I will add later. Thank you everyone and best wishes to all who are still going thru this process.

Ok now I'm completely confused, when talking to my husband yesterday. He told me that the lady that did his interview told him when he sends his police clearance to them , to also submit his passport. She also told him she will process his case. I'm I getting excited for no reason ? Cuz I always assumed that the embassy doesn't ask for passport until they are ready to issue visa. But at the end of his interview he was giving a blue paper saying he needs to submit his original police clearance and he would be put on AP. Why ask for his passport if they are not ready to issue visa ?
Please does anyone know about this ?


hey sister if he is really on AP then they will call him after completing of AP bz its was the same situation of my other friend he got call after 32 days of AP to submit his passport. anyway its better to email embassy for it they will give u response very soon. inshaallah. :thumbs:

We sedn form DS 230 and all required documment to NVC,they recive all of that on Jnauary 14, and that is all ok.
Now we witing for them to complete our case.

But i didn't know to we have to write my wife name and her case number on right-hand corner on all document, but however there is document cover sheet page ( with my wife name and case number ) on the top of all document ,and that all stapled together.

So will NVC be ok with this or they will send all of that back to us and we need to do allover again? :help:

Also we did not write her name and case number on back of the picture.

today and that is 12 days after NVC receive form ds 230 , i call NVC and AVR tell me next...

NVC had review you document and found information missing or incomplete .NVC send you a letter on January 25 , once this information is receive please allow 6-8 weeks for review, and that you will be notify.

So i wonder what could that be , i will call them today, i check all document 100 times to make sure all i fine.

Anyone with same experience?


don;t worry abt it its false its doesn't matter ur get ur interview date in few days. mine was also same like urs so don;t worry abt it. just wait to the email of NVC for interview date. thats all.

I just had my interview yesterday and it seemed to be fine. ^_^

Here's my story. The Indian prescreener took my fingerprints, my passport, medical results, & our photos together. Ask few questions like, who petitioned me, the date of our marriage, where she lives, who are in the photos, where was the photo taken, what is my job here, how much is my salary. Then he asked me to go back to seat and wait for the CO to call me.

After about an hour an a half, the CO called my name. He verified my fingerprints, then ask me to sign under oath the part II of the DS-230. Then he started to ask me questions like, what is my wife's name, how old is she, where she lives, how long have she been there, what is her job, how did she get to the US, if she has any relatives in the US. :reading: He also ask me what is my job here, if what job am i going to take once I get to the US, if i applied for any job in the US already, if I have any relatives in US. He also asked how did we meet, when did we get married, how long we've been staying together, when was the last time we're together, do we have any children, or been married before.

So far that were the questions I can remember that the consul asked me. It took us about 10 minutes in the interview. He finally asked, if my visa will be approved when am I planning to go to the US? After that he took a purple card with a serial no. & a text "pickup passport date" then he stamped the date January 30, 2010. Then he told me to go back to seat & wait for my name to be called. After a minute, the prescreener called my name, give me the purple slip then asked me to go to fedex and return back the air waybill.

Not like the other vj'ers, I never heard the magic word, "Congratulations!" or "approved" from the consul. Then when I returned back the air waybill, I asked the prescreener if I'm approved. He just said "Yes!". ..then I went home.

That's all I can share for now. I am hoping that my visa will be delivered very soon. I just can't wait to be with my ONE GREAT LOVE!

My wife's CR1 visa was approved in Mumbai on 27th Jan. The process took almost all day. She was in 7:30 am and out at 4 pm. I was waiting outside
the building all this time and was not allowed inside as I had thought earlier. No communications , as no mobile phones were allowed inside.
Here I try to summarize the interview and hope it will help those waiting for CR1 interview especially in Mumbai:
- Fingerprinting done and then asked to wait in the immigrant visa section row
- Who is the petitioner?
- Date of marriage?

About 40 minutes later second interview:
- Husband's name? Job nature? Present company? Previous job? (they were helpful though, when she could not remember my previous company name..)
- Why not married in India last time? (our k1 visa attempt was unsuccessful last year)
Then asked for the family photo album. They just took a look at the bulky telephone calls folder but never looked inside. They did not go through the
snail mails/ greeting cards bunch either. However they went through the couple of emails that we had exchanged.

There were extensive questions on the family photo album though. She was asked to point and tell the names. Asked to point out the different ceremony pictures in the wedding section ( kanyadan, phere etc, ours was Arya samaj wedding). Looked at the honeymoon pictures and were satisfied.
They however did not consider the hotel receipt as evidence which had only my name on it. So, please remember to include both yours and your spouse's name on any hotel receipts. The travel tickets with both our names on them , were helpful.
She was asked to go back and wait again. After about 40 minutes she was called back and was told that her visa was approved. I was told, she
could not hear anything what they said after this since she was screaming and jumping.... :) .
They sent the passport by blue dart courier which reached the destination within 24 hours with the much awaited visa (a real one !) stamped in it.
