Sure has been quiet here for a few days...........

Any new updates from anyone??

I just sent out our I-864 package and still waiting for the Cashiers Check to be cashed for our IV bill.....*sighs*

I have Qasim filling out the DS230 and getting the documents ready to be sent to me, so I will be ready once that time comes ( I hope sooooon, insha allaah)

Question.....>> Once case is completed @NVC ( hopefully sometime in May) how long would it take for the ISL embassy to contact him and an interview to be set up? (just a ballpark timeframe..... Thanks)

Well, I hope everyone has a wonderful and relaxing weekend

Aisha

It seems it normally takes about 2-3 weeks for them to transfer the case from NVC to ISB Embassay and then depending on the workload they contact the beneficiary. InshaAllaah he'll be hear from them soon. May Allaah make it swift. aameen.

Aisha if I may ask, will you be going for James shortcut? If yes, then would you tell me how your husband will obtain his police certificate? I am in KHI and our petition has just been approved alhumdulillaah. Now we seem all set for the NVC but I do not have the P.C. and the police will not issue one without the letter from NVC which of course would delay things. I will appreciate if you can advice as to what I should or if there can be some other way to obtain one?

Thanks and all the best to you,

Sara.

Finally we picked up my husband's visa today. we were at the diplomatic enclave at 6:00am, 7:15am at the embassy Line and got out of the embassy at 3:30pm. It was a very very long wait but thank god we rcv'd the visa same day. I will be flying back to CA in July with my husband inshallah.

Congratulations Farah.

hi all,

I have a query regarding the I 864.
We submitted our I-864 today. But my husband's employment letter states that his job will be terminating in June 2008 and these days he is in the process of looking for another job. He will inshAllah get a job soon, but will the NVC ask my husband that who will support me (his wife) after June 2008? and will this cause any delays in our case?

any information will be deeply appreciated!
Thanks

fkh,

I am not sure if this will be an issue but I know that I was approved at NVC level and once our case went to Islamabad the CO said before he would interview my husband we needed a co sponsor. My suggestion is to find a co sponsor just in case NVC or even at the embassy level one is requested. Good luck.

Mary

Yes that seems to be the best way to play it safe. InshaAllaah there shouldn't be a problem but they could flag you for this June 2008 notice. Wishing he finds a good job soon. All the best!!!

I announced that my husband got his IR1 visa and i only got two people posting a congratulations? some how talking about phone cards and gas stations is more worthy then a simple congratulations, i feel invisible on this site and i duno why i waste my time coming here every day, this thread should be instead named the "Shon, Michigan, and Hafiz thread"

Thanks, for nothing really...

I think this posting just came from out of LEFT FIELD.. I am RAREly on this - I happend to post about a phone card. if you want to take things personal thats you. but, why RAIN on your OWN parade? that dont make since..

the lady with all the excuses, yeah, my point exactly, all about you. That's fine, i guess i no longer have a need to come here any way, the only one who ever helped was Mary, thank you Mary for all your help and sincere support.

O yeah, you are talking about me taking things personal? i can't count how many angry posts you have made, or let me guess, that was everyone else's fault that they are taking it personal, not you? I don't go angry or upset for no reason, i've been made to feel this way by the people on this site. That's all, anyway, i've said what i wanted to, after so long of biting my tounge...i'll stop raining on your precious parade.

Called DOS again, they said rashid is in standard security checks and waiting clearance in Washington. Do they tell you if there has been a name hit? or is that only if you get someone who feels like telling you...this guy was really nice though...i think he would have told me.

Hey Everybody,

I hope everybody is well. I have a concern regarding my I-864. I am a full time student but I have been working part time since 4 years. After my wedding this summer, my husband didn't want me to work so did my parents. He was sending me the support every month and then I live with my family so it was all perfect. Now, I don't want to call myself unemployed on the form as that would make a bad impression. I am certainly going to include household income which is pretty well but I am still not happy with my side of the story. The only thing I do now is tutoring but that is very minimal income just to help some people out. So if you guys could please advice me and give me your opinion then that would certainly be appreciated.

Thank you much in advance

i put on my I-864 that i was a STUDENT and UNEMPLOYED SINCE 2004, it was approved...i just had a co sponsor who makes good money :)

CONGRATS MICHIGAN

A very happy reunion for us and we should say many many big applause for u that for one year you been on AR/AP its really so long and one really gets frustated we are on the way to enter this AR( A CAGE OF FIRE) and how long it took us GOD knows but i know now you feel at the top of the world. We want to know that did u had investigation at ur home and neighbours and job. Pls reply

Secondly i want you to ask people that i got nvc email replying me they forward my petition to the embassy on 22 NOV 2006 and i track dhl and i saw only 2 file being send to PAKISTAN on 21NOV and 24NOV 2006 and both have been received by the islamabad but when today i call embassy they told me they got the electronic file not the physical file and contact us after 2 WEEKS whereas i see u people timeline that it takes maximum a week to reach embassy i will call nvc and asked them which date they send it. Why taking so long for my file to reach islamabad embassy?

Every time i called the NVC about how long anything would take, for ex. sending my file to Islamabad. , They told me it takes 4 to 6 weeks, every with them can take up to 4 to 6 weeks, when i asked that when will they be sending me some forms, or when will they do anything, every time i got, 4 to 6 weeks. So i wouldn't worry that yours has not reached Islamabad yet. :)

Leona

Thanks hafiz, I called my wife yesterday just to give her headsup. Here what she have told me. In order to replace my name with father name on line 3, NADRA will asked her to change her middle name to husband name, e,g. her name is S (first name) M (middle name, thats her father name), S (last name).

NADRA told her in order to replace husband name from father name on line 3. She must also on line one replace M (middle name, thats her father name to husband first name).

This will bring up some problem, because when I filled her I-130 and I-129f I have mentioned her full name as S (first name) M (middle name, thats her father name), S (last name).

Second point,

She have passport, but her picture in passport is with HIJAB (because of Umra she performed), do she also need to change her photo on passport according to US requirement, like hair visually showed in picture? please help i need to start this process ASAP.

Thanks,

I seriously doubt that matters, on my passport i am not wearing hijab (because i was not muslim at that time) but i do wear hijab on every other form of id i have taken now that i am muslim, for example my driver's license, i wear hijab, and for my college ID i also have hijab. If it was against the law for a woman to wear hijab for her passport photo, i would be shocked.

Lahore is a metropolitan city and LAHORE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT is newly build and u will have no problem there and no problem with any language either english or urdu. I am from lahore and it one of the beautiful city of PAKISTAN so there is no worry in coming to LAHORE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

When i got my visit visa to go to PK i sent my passport to the consulate in chicago i believe, they gave me visa and sent it back within two days, however i was following it on the tracking through USPS and they lost it! i waited a few days longer for the post office to find it and finally send that to me, you can imagine how much i was freaking out, they said that it probably was dropped on one of their loading areas. Anyway, i got it, that was the important thing, and they gave me a five year visit visa, even though i only applied for a 6month one. I also went through Lahore airport, and i don't speak a word of urdu, but they knew english and when you get there you go through the immigration and then you go straight to where your bags are where someone will be there to help you with a trolly, then it's a short walk to the outside, just make sure no one tries to over charge you for using the trolly.

Thanks for the advice, I guess I will just hope for someone more helpful next time! When I called they said administrative processing... so this is worse than admin review? Im considering getting a congressman involved, but I'm really doubting it will do any good.

I'm having a hard time coping with not having my Ali here. All of this on top of studying at a very conservative college, I just feel like we are not wanted here in the US, and I don't know if I want to stay here if we will be treated unfairly because hes Muslim. But then I wonder if anywhere will really accept us (him being from a Muslim background and me from an American/Christian background) and if we just have to deal with it and stay strong. Anyone else having problems with this?? How do you plan on making it work out?
(F)

I know exactly how you feel...i am a muslim convert (used to be christian) married a pakistani guy..anyway, i live in a small town in missouri and there are no other muslims here, im the only 1, it's not fun...but i don't care what they think of me, truly, my familly, friends, people feel so uncomfortable to look at me wearing a scarf...but the thing is that there are alot of people too who really appreciate it, and respect it...and are curious and ask questions, and it makes it really way better than the bad looks...like believe it or not i had like a 60 year old security officer from my college tell me that he "truly appreciates the way i dress" that he is "sick of the way these young girls dress these days" and i really think that when you are happy with yourself and appearance, others can sense that and may not like it, but atleast respect it.

O yeah, and just stay busy busy busy, cuz it makes time fly...and don't talk about it alot, making yourself feel hopeless...im also staying in an apartment for the first time, it's hard, to raise my small child (1 yr old) alone...but it's up to Allah, He won't give me more than i can handle, and i take it as a compliment that Allah gave me such a challenge, and views me as someone strong enough to get through it insh'Allah.

Don't forget also that no one controls your life, only Allah does...they aren't in "real" control, they just like to think they are...so just pray as much as you can, offer nafl and things like that, insh'Allah your prayers will be answered.

K , im done blabbing...Take care,

Leona.

My interview is in Dec. now after EId i will go for Medical.
If i need any advice regarding medical please guys let me know.

and pray everything go fine..

Fooki

My husband said his medical went very smoothly, and everyone was helpful with good customer service...he got his results two days after..make sure you don't open them though...my husband said a guy there who was picking up the results the same time as him opened his! and had to do the medical all over again...all the shots and everything!

Sham,

About the transit visa thing...i would just follow the website, cuz i was always under the impression that if you are not leaving the airport, then technically you aren't needing a visa just to be there till the next flight...
maybe if her flight was like the next day, and she had to stay in some hotel that night you would need a transit visa.. i could just be wrong, this is just me thinking...

when i went to pakistan, and from pakistan...they gave us a paper on the plane, with an option if you are there in just transit, and we didn't go through immigration or anything...we just went through security, and into the waiting room..if i remember correctly...where there was a shopping area...then we went back on, you don't even have to get off the plane...last time i dind't get off, cuzi had my baby with me and he was sleeping...people just came on the plane and cleaned it, then left...so..other than that , iduno anything ...insh'Allah it will become clear to you soon.

Asalam aleikum Everyone,

Congratulations to Sham for your wife being approved for her visa! I also have good news, my husband's interview was yesterday and he was approved for his visa!!!! Alhamdulillah! He said that it was such a great experience and that the officer only asked a few questions , and it only lasted about five minutes..he said the interviewer was so nice and laid back guy, must have been only 22 or 23 years old, and that he thought it was so funny how it said on our wedding certificate that I am a "spinster" ( we married in cardiff) and he showed it to his supervisor and colleagues..lol. Also, they didn't look at hardly any of the evidence, other than photos of us together. Anyway, they told him that he should get his visa after AP of 45 days to 3 months ( i know this time could mean any length of time in reality) Rashid also said that they only took the finger print of his index finger from each hand, and that they didn't charge him 45 dollars or take additional finger prints.
Insh'Allah he will have his visa with in the time frame given... He called me at mid night to tell me the great news, then i couldn't fall back asleep of course...so now im so tired but still so happy! I just pray that he will be here before the end of this year.
Thanks to everyone for your help and advices.

( o yeah and once i did a change of address for the post office, and all my stuff kept going to my old address...same is happening to my sis, we get her mail all the time...so would it just be better to change address with the places i expect important mail from, like college, work, bank?)

Thanks everyone for helping him to prepare for his medical.

Congrats RKhalid!!!!
One question for you: When Islamabad changes the interview date, do they send another appointment letter to the applicant? I mean does the applicant have to wait for the next letter to come home with new date on it or they are just directed to take old letter with them on the new date?

Yes they sent my husband a new appointment letter just the next day after i requested a sooner appointment date.

Just one more thing RKhalid!!!!!!!! You have made a mistake in your timeline data and posted an interview date for 2007 ;) . Please correct it as it has made the average incorrect as well.

Thank you for pointing that out, i did fix it. :)
thanks also for the compliments on my baby, I am so blessed to have him here with me to help me through the wait.

I would pray that they issue visa on the same day, I was wondering though ( i know it's rare for the men to get a visa the same day) that if he got visa the same day, in october, could he wait till after our 2nd anniversary to come to usa? so that he could be issued an IR1 at POE?
That is, if he bypasses AR, which i highly doubt it, but Allah is the one who decides.

O yeah, and the thing you said about so many people paying for lawyers or making mistakes on simple things that could be answered here, yeah, me and rashid are two of those people! If we knew about this site a year ago, i have no doubt that my husband would be here by now....so i will definitly recommend it to anyone i know going through any kind of visa process to visit vj.com :D thanks for all your help!!!!
My husband is doing his medical tomorrow, and getting his final police certificate from Islamabad, inshAllah everything will be fine.

Yeah, they were weird with my visit visa too, i applied for 6 months and they gave me a five year multiple visit visa to pakistan....weird...but like mary said, i would email the embassy in Islamabad , sometimes they really do help you out, they helped us out...also did you try contacting the pakistani embassy that issued the visit visa? maybe they would let your wife mail her passport there and give her the right time frame visa that you wanted....this is all just me talking though, i dont know for sure, but wouldn't hurt to ask.
