US Embassy and Consulate Discussionaffidavit of support not notarized
asslam o alaikum
people we submitted the papers from the joint sponsor as the officer told us that the income of the sponosor was not enough and we were initially refused the visa.but now we have submitted the papers neccessary to remove the objections.
i want to know that
1.there was this one requirement that the affidavit of suport should b notarized but the joint sponsor meaning that the joint sponsor must sign the papers infront of the notary public.
can u guys tell me how important is this requirement ???
will they reject the papers or they might over look or they might do something else??
please share your experience.
we have two sponsors now and their income is far above than required but there is one problem that they havent paid the taxes for the year 2008 and obviously didnt include the copies in the affidavit of support
will the embassy demand latest copies of tax papers??
and one more question where is the visa printed for immigrant cases?
i remember my mom recieved her visa the same day she was interviewed but that was a non immigrant visa and almost 6 years ago.
please do reply to this

Hey saran, can you please let me know what was the yearly income your petitoner reported on I-864?

it was 52,000$ per annum but i think they were not able to prove they get this much.may b only 38000 they could show because they didnt have evidance i guess.i am not so sure about it.but they also had not paid the taxes for the year 2008.and the people who intend to sponsor(joint sponsors) us have also not yet paid the taxes for the year 2008.it because of the financial crisis.
saranMalePakistan2009-02-12 06:44:00
US Embassy and Consulate Discussionjoint sponsor for approval
we were refused on the grounds that the income of our petitioner was not enough and they said we need a co-sponsor.
we were given the purple slip which says,
please send us an original sigend and notarized affidavit o support from a qualifying joint-sponsor, along with all supporting documents from the most recent tax years:
1.copies of official IRS tax transcripts/returns
2.copies of w-2 forms showingh how much income the joint sponsor earned from its employes
3.current job letter

my questions are
1.whats the meaning of a qualifying joint sponsor?
2.can people who are not relatives also be joint sponsors?
3.is it compulsory for the sponsor to pay the tax of the most recent year.i mean the people who are going to be the co-sponsor us have not paid the taxes for te year 2008.is it a requirement that they have to pay the taxes for the last year if they want to support us.
the underlined line (from the most recent tax years) whats the meaning of this line.i didnt get it i m not good at english.

my question is do they investigate about the people immigrating?or do they verify if the real people are going or not?
i have heard they investigate about the people wether they have a connection with terrorists or something.is it true?

Yes, this is normal. It is the so called mystery brown envelope and it holds all your paperwork that was ever submittted as well as your medical results. The officer at the POE will open it and then send it to filed away here in the USA. Have a safe trip to home.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionaffidavit of support poverty guidelines
Hello.

I am really confused about this poverty guidelines thing.
I will be the main sponsor for my husband however, i am currently living with him in Pakistan, thus i have no income to show.

My father with be the co-sponsor. Per the poverty guideline he should be earning USD 26,500 to be 125% above poverty level as there will be my parents and us as a couple in the household showing a total of 4 people.
Now i also read somewhere that the income of a co-sponsor will only be counted as 1/10th towards the immigrant.
In the instructions for I-864 it says that primary sponsors income will count 1/3rd of the difference towards beneficiary and co-sponsors will be 1/5th.

So now if my father makes USD42,000 would that mean 42,000 minus 26,500 and then the difference or how the hell does it work???

PLS HELP!

Just want to clear up some typos:

May I also add that after inquiring to know if they had received the joint sponsor form (about two months after I mailed it) I was notified by email that it had not been received. Then a couple days later, I asked if I could send a copy since the originals had apparently been lost in the mail. They then replied that I needed 'another' joint sponsor which I assume means they did indeed have the original I-864 in the first place. SOUNDS FISHY TO ME!

Again, I am really feeling a lot of frustration. I am willing to pay for a lawyer and take one last shot at it with legal representation this time. Any advice or lawyer contacts would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks again.

well if your father lives in the same household as yourself, same domicile address then he should have filed the I-864A not the I-864. And even if you are not working or income is below the required minimum, then you should still file the I-864 as you are the primary sponsor (petitioner)

My father is not in the same household as the address listed on my documents showing domicile. And of course I filed an I-864 for myself also! Again, maybe I wasn't clear. they want a THIRD joint sponsor form after receiving I-864's from both me and my father. We are NOT in the same household.

hmmm then i am not sure why....

US Embassy and Consulate Discussiontax filin exempt help
Hello,

I quit working in December of 2006. However, working for a bank I received a commission check in 2007 jan for $930. I called IRS and they said that I did not have to file taxes as I did not earn enough. I understand I have to give this in writing along with my I-864 form. However, IRS does not issue any letter stating so...what would be my best documentation? I printed out the 2007 1040A instructions booklet from the website, and highlighted the parts where it listed minimum income to file taxes would that be sufficient or does anyone have any other suggestions?

we recently had our interview for a family based visa.
All the documents that weer submitted to NVC will be sent by the NVC directly to the embassy.
for example DS-230,affidavit of support etc.you dont need the copies of these documents.
I was also confused when i saw the same thing mentioned on the website of the embassy.
you need to take the original documents whose copies were sent to the NVC.
police certificate, birth certificates, photographs, marriage certificate and birth certificate of your parent(if the applicant is your parent in case if you are the applicant your own birth certificate) and that of the petitioner etc
You can ask if you want more clarification but you have to provide more information

MnM, visit your local police station and ask them for the form. That form will include a list of documents you'd have to submit with it. I submitted a cover letter addressed to the D.I.G. as he issues the certificate now, copy of my marriage certificate, four passport size photos, copy of my passport, copy of my NIC, copy of my matric certificate, copy a utility bill, copy of my dad's NIC and copy of two NICs from people in my neighbourhood. I got this done through someone I knew...a sub-inspector...Full-time Raashi. he took Rs.2500 when he gave me the Certificate which is valid for 6 months plus all those phone calls I made to him. got mine in about 15 days. Pain!

Also, get the copies and photos attested. I HATE OUR POLICE.

Sure has been quiet here for a few days...........

Any new updates from anyone??

I just sent out our I-864 package and still waiting for the Cashiers Check to be cashed for our IV bill.....*sighs*

I have Qasim filling out the DS230 and getting the documents ready to be sent to me, so I will be ready once that time comes ( I hope sooooon, insha allaah)

Question.....>> Once case is completed @NVC ( hopefully sometime in May) how long would it take for the ISL embassy to contact him and an interview to be set up? (just a ballpark timeframe..... Thanks)

Well, I hope everyone has a wonderful and relaxing weekend

Aisha

It seems it normally takes about 2-3 weeks for them to transfer the case from NVC to ISB Embassay and then depending on the workload they contact the beneficiary. InshaAllaah he'll be hear from them soon. May Allaah make it swift. aameen.

Aisha if I may ask, will you be going for James shortcut? If yes, then would you tell me how your husband will obtain his police certificate? I am in KHI and our petition has just been approved alhumdulillaah. Now we seem all set for the NVC but I do not have the P.C. and the police will not issue one without the letter from NVC which of course would delay things. I will appreciate if you can advice as to what I should or if there can be some other way to obtain one?

Thanks and all the best to you,

Sara.
