It depends where you will be coming from but if you get to bus stop at 6:00 or 6:30AM then you will have enough time. They used to have this bus stop at convention center before buth now they moved it to Bara kahoo side. it better to be early for an hour than coming 5 min late. Good Luck

I am here to share a bad news with all of u . and want to tell u life can be sometime very painful this AP or Visa journey is not painful at all.
there was a lady on this thread named Saba_Yasir may be u guys remember him . she is my cousin she had his whole life full of tragedies her parents passed away in her childhood and she has no sibling one of our uncle raised her up and few years ago he died too so Saba was always alone . finaly she met that guy Yasir Ahmed from lahore ,he was truly an angel Saba and yasir both were very happy ,Yasir came here in USA a month ago and now they were living happily but yesterday at once Yasir got the heart attack and Allah Called him INALILLAH E WAINA ILAHE RAJIOON

Saba was totally uncontrolable i am sure sky was be also weeping to hear her screams and tears .

this is called a tragedy .
I request u all that pray for that poor girl Saba may Allah give her Courage to tolerate all this . :crying:

Hey guys, sorry to hear about all of you still in AP. Wish you all luck. I have a question. Does anyone know about what happens after the immigrant gets to the us? I'm wondering how long it took for a social security card and green card. I'm not sure if we have to apply for them or if they automatically get mailed to us? Please share your experience. I want to get his stuff right away so he can look for jobs and such. Thanks a lot and good luck.



Green card arrives in mail after almost one month , but no surety about the SSC so its better to apply for SSC , and u can apply for SSC by showing ur Immigrant Visa . Best of luck :thumbs:

is it true that NVC ONLY schedules interviews in the 2nd week of the month?

the operator at NVC told me that and I don't think its true...and she also told me that it depends how busy the consulate is so how busy IS the Islamabad consulate...

if my interview is scheduled in a week or so when do you guys think the interview will be?


Thats not true , bcoz we got interview letter on 28th October so that was 4th week

Update:

My husband got call from AMEX... He Alhamdulillah picked up his passport today.

The interview was on Feb 17th and we got Visa in Hand on Feb 25th. Eight days to be exact.

bankermai, how are you likeing usa now? i applied for our I-130 back in july of 2008 and here we are still waiting and almost 6 months in ap, meanwhile everyone else getting their visas, just doesnt seem fair and some ppl get no ap at all or very little ap, of course im happy for those ppl whose visa journey is over, i just wish this long wait would come to an end , this is so hard.


Yes I agree with u it is bit unfair that some people have to wait much longer than others but I would say its all about the luck . In start it was dificult for me to adjust here in US . new culture new people away from ur family and specaily with new food . but as the time is passing I m getting fine and all credit goes to my lovely wife she is so sweet and supporting all the way . the main problem i faced in first fifteen days was sitting all alone in home . But as ALLAH helped us thorough out our visa process he showered his blessings on us here to . just after 15 days I got my first interview call and they hired me as a Software Engineer . and now I am fully busy with my Proffessional and personal life . and now i m getting very much adjusted in my new life . ALHAMDULILLAH

Ur husband is in my prayers INSHALLAH with in few days he will get his Visa with the grace of ALMGHTY ALLAH . and when u guys will be together u will forget all the pain u suffered in this painful visa journey and AP .

I dunt want to get too excited. Cuz what I have learnt from VJ is tht isb embassy is unpredictable and random. Guys what do u think. am I getting excited for no reason. They just asked him two questions. and thats it. I will let u know everything in detail... once I talk to hubby in detail ... he went to isb with a frd and went to eat lunch now since he was so hungry. I will talk to him in detail.

What I know for now is... The CO was very nice and he showed him the english original copy of marraige certificate and asked him if he has the original urdu one. He showed him the urdu one. Then he asked him when did u last time talked to ur wife. My hubby was like I just talked to her in the parking. Then the second question was like when did u saw her last time. My hubby was like last night on skype. The CO started laughing/smiling. and thats it. My hubs didnt believe that its over.. so he actually placed his file in front of him containing pictures and stuff. The I 864 which we have been having problem with NVC. He did not look at anything. And returned him the original documents. Then he gave him the white paper with the courier details on it. He told him that he will get his passport in a week.

I am confused about tht part. Seriuosly.... cuz Fiesal and hopeful's passport and visa printing thing took about a month. So I just wonder how come its a week. And yeh people have been like coming back happy from embassy atfer they get the visa but then when they call back to check they get to know that they r in AP. So after getting over all the excitment.. I am kinda worried about it now. we cant say anything for sure right? until we get the visa in hand.

what do u guys say?

Well, I finally got ahold of DOS. I asked her the case status, and she said AP. And so I asked about any updates and she said "No updates since November". And I was like "What? Anna told me that it was updated jan 12 last time I called". She said "Oh, ok.. hold on let me check the database." she kept checking over and over different databases. I mean she must have checked four or five. She kept saying "I dunno where she found that.. I dont see this" then finally, she said "Oh! I think she meant to tell you February 11. There is an update in here as of February 11". So I asked "The case was updated last week?" and she said yes but its still in AP. So I was like. Ok.. thanks so much. So, I know I couldnt get ahold of them for at least 2-3 weeks, and my husband hasnt called the embassy in a while. So.. they must have actually updated it. haha. Well, just wanted to share that. tOh yeah.. the lady also told me that sometimes they dont put the updates or info in the computer.
So.. I hope that helps you guys too. It gave me a little hope. Well, you all take care now.. and Insha'Allah, short AP for you all.

Thanks to Allah my wife's flight made it safely, actually 2 hours earlier than scheduled :)...

POE was a breeze they didnt ask any question, just took the papers and passport to verify and thats it...She was out in 30 minutes...

We got back from ISL like 2 hrs ago, LOL kept thinkin abt VISAJOURNEY isl Thread n first thing after refreshing myself was to open my laptop n share our experience!

Went there on time, u guys already know abt the que n everything hehehehhe so no repostng,

CO was male clean shave middle age, nice n friendly was trying to trick us to how we got Russian PCC from Toronto, since we could not get it from Russian Embassy at isl and had to pay this agency t get it for us from Russia! ( MY hub did his education from there so he needed PCC from Russia) He was very friendly n didnot ask for any pics or any other prooof although we had everything! we got so blank at that time that we didnt even offer him to look at the pics himself but i guess it ws ok since he never asked for them, what u guys say?

He ws smiling all the time , at the end he said everything ws ok u r eligible for visa we just need to do some Administrative processing, He said this to us like 2-3 time like he was consoling us, "U r eligible for visa " "Ur visa has been approved, no more qs we dont need any more documents, sometimes we do but rarely!" so i guess that ws something nice to hear!

He said wait for 2-3 months and he kept my hubs passport, So now wait starts for the call from AMEX ,

No question on POE they just tookme to a room took that mystry envelope and took my finger prints and after he stamped my Passport and said WELCOME TO USA.

Congrats Feisal Bhai. I am glad for you that you are finally out of such a long long AP. We are still waiting now. We have passed the 2.5 month mark. If you count business/work weeks. Zaheer is getting nervous, as am I. Just nervous because as the due date draws nearer and nearer we are afraid what will happen. I don't want to have surgery all alone. I don't want to be sitting, alone in the hospital with my little baby without her daddy. We contacted the Embassy... they said AP. We contacted DOS and they said AP. We have the Congressman's office working on a case for us, and they said they have been waiting to hear back form Islamabad and have received no reply regarding our case. We have asked every question possible as to whether this or that could be holding up our case, and they always tell us that everything seems fine with our case and that it is just "internal" processing. Our K3 visa had a validity date on it of Aug 28th-Dec 28th. Well, its passed that now.. so what happens? We submitted the forms about 2.5 weeks ago to continue on the course with the I-130 (just in case). And haven't received anything back from them yet. Both Islamabad embassy and Dept of State have been telling us that they have had their computers down off and on for the last few days. So, I dunno if that will affect any case processing. I just can't figure out what is taking so long. Oh well... I guess this is just our luck. The congressman's office has a cse worker on our case and she said just to figure it this way, if there was going to be a reason for them to deny you, they would have found it by now. the fact that it is taking so long is a good sign. But then I told her about Khalidnfatima's case how they got sent back to USCIS after 5 months of AP without any word or anything. And I said "What if they make a mistake on our case like that?" and she said "But that RARELY happens". Still doesn't make me feel much better. It happened to Khalidnfatima. Anyhow. For those of you who have gotten visas... please just keep us posted. I am so glad for you guys and please please pray for us. I need my husband here for me during this time. My ex still isn't letting me see my daughter either. I have been back in my home city for 2-3 weeks now, and he hasn't let me see her, talk to her, or give her a birthday gift. She just turned 3 and I havent seen her in over a year. I called the court to ask what I can do if he wont let me have my visitation like he is supposed to, and they said to file a contempt of court form. Its so hard not to have my husband or my daughter here with me. My dad got laid off from his job so he spends all his time glued to the stock market websites and my mom is busy working. So..... I'm just sitting all alone here. Please wish us luck. Take care all of you.

That is definite for CR1 Visa holders , On K1 visa first u will have to apply for AOS (adjustment os status) then after its approval if they give u ten years green card then no need of REMOVAL OF CONDITIONS. but if they give u 2 years green card then u will have to apply for that

I was looking through the guides on visajourney AND they are VERY helpful. However, I have one question what is the purpose for removal of conditions?


when a spouse of USC enters USA on CR1 Visa he got a conditional green card valid for two year , so they have to go through the process REMOVAL OF CONDITIONS 90 days prior to the expiry date , and with that the immigrant can get a green card valid for ten years .


My heart is beating so fast. I just called the us embassy and the lady told us that a letter was sent to my husband last dec 18. we havent gotten anything. so my husband is going to the post office as in right now. UGH! i am so worried! what could it mean? we are currently on AP since sept. 2009...WHAT COULD IT BE? the lady said there was no decision yet as to my husbands visa...if it's denied or not...

I got an insider information through a relative who works for the Department of State sub divisions. My AP has ended yesterday, but it is going through Local processing in the Embassy. He says that they will call me next week to ask for my passport - i m hoping that is the case.

I am not getting too excited at the moment untill i get a call from the Embassy, but yes that is very good news smile.gif

hey guys , i hope u all r doing fine. Let me share my personal funny experience with u

I had my interview on 16th Decemeber and i was told that u could pick up ur passport from Amex within on week so on 23 dec when i heard nothing i sent and Email to ISL embassy to inquire about my case . right after half an hour from the email i got a phone call to pick up my passport . Next day when i had my passport and visa in my hand i just opened my inbox and checked the reply from them and they replied me

Dear Sir,



A consular officer has reviewed your immigrant visa application and has determined that additional administrative processing is required before we can complete your case. The time that this processing takes will vary on a case-by-case basis. Once we have completed this administrative processing, we will continue with your visa application. If your case is otherwise complete, and you have opted to have your passport, visa and documents returned by courier, the courier service will contact you to arrange for delivery. If you have opted to keep your passport, we will contact to let you know when you can submit your passport to our office via courier service, and will then return your visa by same courier service.

my Interview experience was very good . CO was a very nice and polite lady , she asked me almost 20 Questions but didnt asked about any document or wedding pics

and after that she said those magical words , Congrats ur visa is granted u will bet ur Passport back in a week and u can collect that from AMEX

we were mentally prepared for the AP but ALHAMDULLILAH I m not in AP
