ChinaChina requiring DS260 for K Visas!

Okay, so it's really  necessary for me to do this form?

It is an online form that you will need to submit online.

You will need to go here:
https://ceac.state.gov/IV/Login.aspx

You need your case number and invoice ID number which you have to call NVC for, contact them at 16033340700, the wait time is so long but endure it and you will get your required information from them.

Our P3 said nothing about DS260 and NVC never contacted us about it. It just so happen we found out last minute that we need it! So submit the form online if you haven't.

Hi, what does it mean? Do I still need to do DS260?

Just thought I should share this about the DS-260 for K visa. Note the last sentence by Kerry.

http://travel.state....ctober_2013.pdf

I am hoping anyone submitted DS-160 for K visa have gone thru. interviews would share a solid answer whether or not DS-260 is still required (for those who have submtted DS-160 as instructed on P3 only). Thanks.

ChinaChina requiring DS260 for K Visas!

Hi httuner,

Thank you so much for posting this and that's good that you have all set before the interview.

Does it mean I need to fill up the DS260 also? It is not instructed in the packet 3.

Where can I find that form?

So my fiancée was talking to another woman doing her interview this week too and she found out she does need the DS260 (which we were never informed of by the NVC)

I contacted the NVC today and asked if I needed to submit a DS260, the lady on the phone told me yes I have to. She sounded pretty firm, so she kindly gave me the invoice ID number for my case and the beneficiary ID number and told me to submit it today so it'll be ready for our interview on the 7th!

I just finished submitting it, turns out it is required. Just thought I would put it out there, our P3 packet told us to fill DS230, so we did just that but found out we needed DS260 too! Lucky we have it all set!

ChinaK1 Visa got approved today, Thank you all VJ'ers

Congratulations httuner! Did they ask the DS260?

So, Finally we got approved! It is such a relief and I was nervous about it all this morning until my fiancee called me and told me the good news. So I'll try to post up about how her experience was at the Consulate today.

She told me, when she got to her interview, they collected the required documents. DS160 Confirmation Page, I-134 Form along with my supporting documents for my income and insurance statement(6 of my previous paystubs, 2012 Tax transcript(1040A), Letter from my Employer(stating my job, annual salary, start date of work and current status of work) All the notarized documents(Police certificate, Birth Certificate, Certificate of marriageability(basically stating that she is single and able to marry), 2 photos as required, and along with the Medical Report she got from her medical exam.

We had all the notarized documents, notarized and translated from Chinese to English*

And of course they collected her passport. She tried to give them her Resume that we made in Chinese and English, but they told her that they won't be needing it.

The Consulate Officer was pretty nice and greeted her with a smile, He asked:

What's your name?
How did you two meet?
What is your fiance's favorite food? She answered: Hot Pot. than he replys, "You know there is no hot pot in Alaska?" and laughs. She than answers that everytime I come to China I always eat this, so he ask her again if I have any other favorite foods, she tells him she doesn't really know but she knows I like to eat beef a lot. He smiled and went to the next question.
So, you two webcam with each other everyday? She tells him Yes everyday. than he ask another question.
So, have you ever webcam with him when he eats? She answers, yes always. Than he ask another question.

What does he always eat when you webcam with him? She answers, Eggs and rice. the Consulate officer laughs and ask why? She tells him its because he is lazy and don't like to cook so he always cook eggs because its easy and fast.
He laughs again and ask her another question.

Are you part of a communist party? She answers "No" than he asks her, do you know what this question mean? She tells him truthfully that she doesn't know. He laughs and then explains to her in Chinese what it means. She than answers him that she now understands what the question means and that she is not part of a communist party in chinese.

Than the last question was, Do you use any other names? She tells him no.

He smiles and told her shes approved and that to wait 1-2 weeks for her passport to arrive with the visa and the package that she will need when she travels to America and to not open this package when she receives it.

She gets an approval paper and says Thank you and he told her that she may leave.

He never asked to see any other proof of evidence of our relationship, although she had brought hundreds of pages of our chat history, my phone bills that I contacted her in China, all our photos(she made a pretty good album) My original flight tickets and the list goes on..

I am very grateful today, I really want to thank everyone who has helped answer all my questions on here and for all the amazing guides on this website that helped me prepare everything up to this day. So thank you all =] I'm just so excited.

ChinaVisa approved- Thanks for all the info!

Congratulations! I hope my visa interview will run smoothly like yours dancin5hr.gif

My fiancée's interview was yesterday and everything was approved.  I only just started recently posting here but have read this forum throughout the 6-7 months since we filed the petition.  You guys were much more of a help than the lawyer I wasted money on....

For anyone wondering the interview seemed like a rubber stamp.  They didn't ask for any evidence of our relationship even though she brought quite a bit.  They also did not ask for the DS 260 form.  Basically seems like all that is usually asked for is a passport and DS 160.  Wish everyone all the best with their cases!

ChinaK1 interview a two day process?

Hi! My interview is also on that same time and date. I don't think it's a two day process! Where did you hear that?

Hi,
My fiancee finally scheduled her k1 interview for 12/16 at 845am at the Guangzhou consulate, is it true that on that day she is only to hand in her documents and fingerprints?and the actual interview is the next day? So should we book the hotel an extra day anticipating the two day process.

ChinaX-ray

Thank you bigdog. Merry Christmas! :)

USCIS and the Embassy say yes, but they will not look at it.  You will need it for your follow-up visit to a CS in the US before your AOS paperwork if sent in.

Chinanearest hotel to the consulate

Hi A&B,3

Thank you for your wishes. I made it to my interview and passed. Got the visa 2 days after. The weather was so favorable when I was there though it was raining.

Here's the contact details of the apartment where I stayed in Guangzhou. It was very near to the consulate. Maybe just 3 minutes walk. The owner's name is Mei and she is so nice.

If you stay here it is very convenient because it's free to leave your things in her office which is also just very near to the consulate.

I hope this helps. :)

Looking forward to hearing some great report about the outcome of your upcoming interview.

I am hope that you will enjoy more favorable weather then what I experienced when I was there in June 2012. From what folks have been saying on this thread, it is the same folks that were running the hotel around the corner from the old consulate location. We found them to be nice people, very helpful and informative. It sounds like they have just moved their thriving business to be near the new US consulate location.

Future Guangzhou interviewees will appreciate the updated lodging info.

Have a safe and productive trip.

Good luck! good.gif

Chinanearest hotel to the consulate

Hi A&B, I am sorry but I don't know the exact address. But the lady I talked over the phone said it's just a 5 minute walk from the consulate. I will go there on the 15th for my interview on the 16th. I'll get you the exact address of that place. :)

Do you happen to know the address or general location of the hotel from the consulate? I am trying to update the Embassy Info page with current info.

TIA.

Chinanearest hotel to the consulate

Hi PhillyJon, thank you so  much. This is very helpful. :)

We stayed in a suite, 4 bedrooms, a five minute walk from the embassy. All of the people were there for immigration physicals or interviews. It cost 278 RMB per night. The owners also run a visa assistance agency, so they throw in a free pre-interview consultation. The consultation and being with others in the same boat seemed to have a calming effect in a fairly stressful time. The owner is Yang JiaHua. 13724842886. They don't speak much English.

Hi everyone,

Could you recommend a nearest hotel to the consulate where I can stay for a night? If possible a hotel just next to the consulate.

Thank you so  much for your help.

ChinaBizarre, bad interview experience...

Thank you DJ&L. :)
That's helpful. I am always nervous of my upcoming interview.

My girlfriend lived in Norway and then again in Austria for right around 6 months each.  We were not required to provide a police certificate for either location.  I wouldn't worry, cat_lovers.

ChinaBizarre, bad interview experience...

Okay, now this worries me a lot again. I used to work in Thailand for approximately six months. I posted this concern here 3 months ago and one of the members said, I don't need to worry about this. Now, I am getting worried again. I don't want to go back to Thailand just to get a police certificate my interview will be in January!cray5ol.gif

ChinaNotarized Resume?

There is no need to notarize your resume. I was not even asked for it when I had my interview in Guangzhou in December 2013

The P-4 notification requests that my fiancé bring her resume to the visa interview.  She heard from one source that the resume should be notarized.  However, we both agree that notarizing your own resume or CV does not make sense.  Can anyone confirm that there is no unusual notarization process that she needs for her resume?

Thanks.

Steve
