US Embassy and Consulate Discussionmedical checkup
My results weren't sealed, they were in an open brown envelope and I was told to make copies of everything before sending them onto the Consulate.

Included were:
Cover sheet from Consulate that I, the panel physician, x-ray supervisor and lab tech had to all sign to verify my identity
DS-2053 Medical Examination for Immigrant or Refugee Applicant
DS-3026 Medical History and Physical Examination Worksheet
DS-3025 Vaccination Document Worksheet
DS-3024 Chest X-Ray and Classification Worksheet
plus pathology results for the blood test and chest x-ray

After the documents are reviewed by the Consulate and the visa is approved they get placed into the brown envelope that you are supposed to carry to POE (along with a bunch of other papers)

They do in Australia.. when I picked up my medical results from the doctor's clinic a few days after my exam the envelope was unsealed and there were specific instructions to make copies of everything. So I did and kept one for my own reference

Depends on the police station you are fingerprinted at. In Brisbane they only did ink fingerprints.

and the police check you submit to the Consulate doesnt actually have your prints, it's just a letter stating that they hold no record of criminal convictions, etc

Are you sure it's not 6 weeks? Cos 6 months is an awful long time to process a green card! Unless the service center is behind I suppose..

Do a search on "Houston" here http://www.visajourn.../poereviews.php and click through to see the timelines of other people who came through there recently. It may show when they received their green card/SSNs

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionImmigrant visa - timeline to enter US
6 months

QUOTE
Q: How soon can I travel once the visa is issued?

A: Immigrant and fiancé(e) visas are valid only for 6 months. Therefore, you must enter the U.S. with your visa within 6 months of its issuance. In some cases, visas can be limited to expire before the 6-month period. In this instance, you are required to enter the U.S. before the expiry date of your visa.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-184 and I-864A question - DCF in Tokyo
QUOTE
I have been living/working in Japan since late 2007, with no source of U.S. income. My main residence has been here, but I have maintained and used U.S. bank accounts and credit cards continuously, sent money home every couple months, voted, filed tax returns, etc. I hold a current CO driver's license. Additionally, before I came here, I applied to law school, was admitted, and accepted and deferred my offer of admission. I can provide proof that I have already declared my intent to enroll in fall 2009, and my mom can provide a letter stating that I have already made arrangements to live with her for the summer before law school, so I should be fine with the issue of domicile, right? My intent was always to come over here temporarily.

Sounds fine to me. We too provided my husband's graduate school acceptance letter, bank statements & IRS documents showing US mailing address along with a copy of his current Washington state driver's license and he passed the domicile test no problem (and he had been living away from the US for nearly 4 years at that time)

and yes, write $0 on your I-864. That's what we wrote on ours and it was fine.

I think your mother should fill out her own I-864 since she is not currently a member of your household.
And if you have your uncle fill out another I-864, have your aunt complete an I-864A

Children under 14 are not required to attend.

Are you sure? Where did you get this information from?

In Australia, children, regardless of age, who are applying for immigrant or derivative fiance visas must attend the interview. I don't see how this would be different in Canada

Source: http://sydney.uscons...s/iv/faq.html#e

To the OP- I highly suggest you check this with the Embassy/Consulate. Not all the information that you read on here is correct..

Have a simple civil ceremony, file the DCF and have a great wedding ceremony and reception in the states when you get here.

I totally agree. This is what we did - had a simple civil ceremony at the ward office in order to get my husband's Australian spousal visa process started.. then had our "proper" wedding celebration a few months later with family in Hawaii. We didn't "miss out" on anything doing it this way.

But regardless if you follow through with the K-1 or DCF process you will need to find a joint/co-sponsor who can meet the income requirements on your behalf

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPacket 3 arrived, few questions ..
Hello all,
My fiance received her Packet 3 last week which from my understanding includes DS230i, DS156 and DS156k forms along with some medical questions. She will try to scan all papers and email them to me so I can look them over.
My question is do we fill out ALL the forms? I understand the DS156 and DS156k go together, what about the DS230i?
Also I thought she takes the relationship proof with her to the embassy but on one of the forms it says to attach these proof items. The instructions she received tell her to take the relationship proof stuff with her to the interview.

What would be the correct answer? Yes because I started this visa petition (I129F)? or No because this petition is not for an immigrant visa?

Thank you for all the responses. Her family doctor (she has a couple now because she moved) said they lost it so she has to track down her vaccinations to the town where she went to kindergarden in and she will try her highschool because they should have a record of her old vaccinations.
Lily has already started a couple of vaccinations (Hepatitis ones and another, forgot the name) and looks like we might be able to get her old vaccinations from the different places mentioned above and then go to her current family doctor to put it all together.
What a headache :(

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMedical exam and vaccinations questions, please help!
I just spoke with my fiance this morning and we've been trying to get her original vaccination paper from when she was little but she is having a hard time finding where to get it from. Today she finally found some hospital where they started giving her vaccines and telling her Hepatitis A is a 2 series shot which she has to go back in a month and Hepatitis B has to be done again in 6 months...I'm like #######! Are these people idiots? Our visa is only good for like another couple of months IF THAT!! She called the embassy to ask what to do if she has no vaccinations sheet and they said it's not their problem. :crying:

It is a good idea to ask for copies if you can because I used mine for my employee health screening and it eliminated the need to get titre tests, etcs since the immigration documents were considered "official"

(I work in the hospital system and we generally need to prove Hep B, Varicella and MMR immunity.. in addition to being free from TB)

oh and timeline.. I know you aren't submitting it through the same embassy as I did (Tokyo) but I just thought it might give you some idea of what to expect

22 March 2007 - Submitted application documents
During April- medical examination and background checks
21 May 2007 - RFE, they wanted to see our actual marriage certificate (we only sent them a copy)
overnight expressed it to them
24 May 2007 - Visa approved!

All the information you need regarding Aussie spousal visas is in here: http://www.immi.gov....oklets/1127.pdf

It is similar to the US process (and any other permanent immigration process) in that you have to get police checks, stat decs, medical exam, etc.. BUT overall I found it was a simpler process. For one there was no need for an interview.. and we sent all our paperwork in at the same time.

One other notable difference is that there isnt an in depth Affidavit of Support procedure like the US process has. I think all I submitted was a letter from my employer showing my date of hire and salary and that satisfied their requirements. My income was foreign too and they considered it the same as Aussie-based income (unlike the US which requires joint sponsors, proof of assets, etc)

In Brisbane you are supposed to collect your medical from the doctor once the results for the blood test are back (usually 2 days after your exam). My envelope was not sealed and there were instructions to make copies of everything before sending them off to the Consulate.. so I did but I'm not sure if this is true for everywhere. I sent my medical in the same time as the rest of Packet 3.

Unless your medical is scheduled weeks and weeks away I would wait till the results are returned to you and send everything in at once

Wow your story is amazing... what gives? I do not know much about Austalian immigration although I intend on learning it. You can try this forum though

http://www.australia...as-immigration/

The Aussie process is EASY peasy.. we did it through the embassy in Tokyo (we were living in Japan at that time) right after we got married. They processed our paperwork and my husband received his visa within 2 months (as quick as my DCF went). We did second stage processing (similar to Removal of Conditions) through the Washington DC embassy a couple months back and would you believe if I told you it took them ONE day to process & approve it?! laughing.gif

so yeah.. DIAC offices abroad are great.. but DIAC in Australia is another thing.. don't even get me started wacko.gif
