IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-130 to I-864

Hello,

As you can see from our timeline, we started out on the I-130 journey last year.  March 17th, we received the NOA2 letter of approval.  The letter stated that we could apply for an adjustment of status since my husband was in the United States (which he legally is).  We've sent in the I-864 and all of the required documenation (medical form, tax documents, and so on) plus a check and received back acknowledgement of receipt of the application.  On April 16th we received the notice for the biometric appointment, which is tomorrow May 7th.

I have two questions.

The first is in regards to this site.  I don't see a way to change my timeline so that I can enter in dates for these types of forms.  There is no I-864 on my timeline.  This is probably not a big deal, but people seem to like it when you update your timeline.

My second question is really, how does this whole process work?  I've seen a lot of information on how the standard I-130 process works, but it appears that we have bypassed that process, or moved into a different track.  Can anyone tell me what our next steps are? And can anyone tell me how long it is taking for those next steps to occur?

Thank you

Next time a doctor tries to tell you that you need the Mantoux test or that you need to begin treatment because the test results came back a (false) positive refer them to the information about the Quantiferon Gold blood test. I posted the link above but here it is again:

It actually worries me a little that these so called USCIS designated civil surgeons do not know about this

Ask for a Quantiferon-gold blood test. If you have been given the BCG vaccine as a child this blood test will not show a false positive result like the Mantoux skin test often does.

I work at a hospital and we do these instead of the mantoux test for pre-employment health screenings. I was given the BCG vaccine when I was a child and mine came back negative

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionHow long does it take to order the GC
I think 7-10 days is a good estimate.

Mine's just a 2 yr one but I had to get a new one since there was an error with my name on it. Card production was ordered on 1/7 and the card was mailed to me today (1/14). I expect to receive it in a few days

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionWrong name on green card
1. Yes, get it replaced. It's a USCIS administrative error and you should not have to pay a fee. Do it yourself, it's a very simple form to fill out and all you need is to make a few photocopies of the evidence

2. Send them both in at the same time. You'll need an AR-11 for yourself and an I-865 for your husband.

3. Um I'm not sure this is necessary...? Could you not just keep a photocopy of the green card on you as a form of ID?

4. Send it to whichever service center it came from.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-90 NOA time?
I had to submit an I-90 for my 2yr green card because they put my name incorrectly on it. I sent it to them in November and as of today card production has been ordered (see dates in my signature). Pretty quick I reckon

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionROC applcation - Do they really want the Affidavits?
Hey OP did you submit your package with or without affidavits?

I don't think I'll bother with including any affidavits in my application. I have plenty of other evidence to send in (mortgage documents, house deed, car titles, joint bank accounts and credit cards, joint tax returns, joint insurance, etc) which hold much more weight.

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussiongreen card and change of address
I just did AR-11 online for myself.. does my (US citizen sponsor) spouse complete the same form? Or does he submit an I-865? http://www.uscis.gov...00045f3d6a1RCRD

edit- nevermind.. just found the answer. He has to do the I-865.

U.S. Citizens who do not have an application or petition pending with USCIS are only legally required to notify USCIS of a change of address if they have previously submitted a Form I-864 on behalf of someone who has become a permanent resident. If you have previously submitted a Form I-864 for someone who immigrated to the U.S., you must complete a Form I-865 within ten days of the completion of your move.

I know there are still 8 months to go before we file but looking at how quickly the last year and a half has flown by I know that if I don't create a thread here to remind myself I might forget when the time actually arrives blush.gif

Anyway since we can't really follow each other's timelines yet I suppose we could talk about how the last year and a half living in the States has been. How was your adjustment from your home country to here? How is the employment/unemployment situation? How is your home life? etc

Hi fellow PDX-er! I received my bio letter a few weeks ago and it's scheduled for next week. I didn't bother to try a walk-in since I have to take time off work for it and it would be a waste to show up and be turned away :P
