K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMay 2009 VSC K-1 Fillers
I think its a quiet day, I am currently packing boxes ready...I hope we are approved! My bedroom is such a mess and packing boxes is the only way for me to sort the rest out before the move, I mean for goodness sakes...I sold over 100 things on ebay and I STILL have more items...ARGHH!
Currently at 2 small boxes, 2 medium ones, 1 large. And 2 suitcases which are going to get packed for the flights along with one small doggie....

Hows everyone else doing regarding scheduling everything? I am a bit worried about sending it ahead of the visa but it takes 3 months to get there..

Hey everyone!

Word is out that a fellow May filer just got approved in 22 days and it wasn't an expedite! Perhaps cases aren't processed on first-come-first-served basis and gives us all a glimmer of hope for what could be.

So...hang in there. We'll make it! yes.gif

Take care,

TiNa

Yeah I seen that. Crazy eh? 22 days.....lucky #######! I'm just hoping that means they have all of March, April and May out on peoples desks and not in a closet somewhere. Maybe that guy just started at the wrong end of his pile. lol

I am so jelous of that person. LOL! He probally flipped the pile in a manic moment. innocent.gif
Mann I wish my case got expedited, I told my Fiancee to stay in the Navy another year just so we could, but I think he needed his freedom more good.gif .

I am so sick of waaaaaaaaaaiting. I just lost my 2 jobs in the UK due to the recession so now I spend more time thinking about this visa. kicking.gif kicking.gif And watching Gok Wan.....Man I need a hobby!

Theres another topic I posted before I saw this thread, I kept trying to search for May filers but my internet connection timed out multiple times..Bahh!

Heres to hoping they speed up and I really want to know what this "November 2008" stuff is about...I figure they are really behind as they post dates when they are not meeting target..Eeeek!

I agree with the above poster. I am not going to be in the USA (If I pass!) until late 2009. There is no way they can do it in a few weeks. Even with Lawyers.

I love my lawyers to bits and they have sped up the process, but if your lawyers are saying it will take "weeks" I would double check who you are hiring.
I am actually in Bristol too and had my application received on May19th. And they told me I will not hear anything before October.

What about if it's expedited?

Expedited for what reason?

There has to be reason for USCIS to process an expedite.

Now you have got me confused... unsure.gif Why would my case me expedited? And just to clarify that means sped up right? It will be my bad luck causing it not to speed up I guarantee.
And what are the USCIS reasons to process and Expedite??

Sorry for all the questions I am new to this and not to good with law (Med student!) so I am having a huge difficulty understanding things... I hired immigration lawyers to help because doing it on my own would be awful, and now I am glad I did blush.gif ..

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow long is it exactly to process K-1 visa?
I think I am in the same boat as you. My case was received on May 19th 2009 at the VSC. We used a lawyer too....Shame he took so darn long to send our documents.
Should we start a K1 May 2009 filer thread? I havent found anyone else so far with May for VSC!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureshiring an attorney?
I have been using visa lawyers and I have loved everything they have done so far, its taken a lot of stress away, the only thing is that they cost $2000! However we paid in installments so it was much easier.

I found the process with mine very easy, they have all the information and extra, they sat down and answered all our questions. And they have done a lot for what we paid them I think. They must of sent us 100 emails to get all of our information and places of work (in our lives) all of the evidence of photos together, plane ticket receipts, and all family details.
My fiancee is in the military so that was a big problem also, and they have been great with that as he has had to leave the Navy now, switch residence, jobs, and income.
Also received recently, health advice pre medical, and ways to prepare for my interview. I realise I could of done the visa on my own with this website but I wanted that higher chance of success.

I know I am probally going to be slammed for backing a lawyer but thats just my story smile.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresJust got layed off ,, K1 pending now what???
I am in exactly the same boat hun. Except I am a UK Citizen, I lost 2 out of my 3 jobs I have, and on my third job my hours have just been cut to 10 hours a week. I now have to claim income support just to have food and pay bills, I cant afford anything else.

This is a bit of a crazy idea, but what about in the meantime, sell some old stuff on ebay. I am selling on ebay currently, everything from DVD's to books, mobile phones, and shoes! I have made £400/$600 so far while looking for another job. Its keeping me a float and I can claim it as my income still.

Is it worth finding a job in a different area of work? Say Finance or Communication? Most of those are over $8 a hour. Even some bar-tending jobs are good, my Fiancee's brother paid his way through law school by earning $300 a night! It might be worth taking a temporary job just until you get a new one secured.

United KingdomLondon Medical - Knightsbridge Doctors
Make sure you tell them that you have had chicken pox...At least twice. Because its written on my medical documents that I needed Varicella once I got in to the USA... And now I have had to pay $160 twice because no one over here believes I have had chicken pox and shingles. Except some nurses at the community clinic...Shame the CS didn't want to believe me!!

United KingdomHow much stuff did/are you shipping from UK to US?
I fly with continental and have a Silver membership. So i get 32kg in each bag. And I am allowed 2 plus hand luggage.
I am still struggling to find a good quote.

GB liners quoted me 650 Pounds= 50 cubic feet

I can probably shift most of it when my fiancee comes to visit and he can take some of the items back. But some of it is going to be harder to move. I am going to check with excess baggage but these shipping companies are really getting to me now. Their prices are seriously OTT.

United KingdomHello :) New...Kinda :) Forgot to introduce myself!
Hey there :-)

Well I am Kayte and I live in the UK currently, and my Fiancee Nick is based in Virginia beach in the Navy, but leaves in a month to move back home and go back to college... wacko.gif wacko.gif Yeah a bit confusing I know!

We will both be living in Port St Lucie Florida, and I am currently based in Gloucestershire, UK.

We are currently going through the K1 process with Lawyers (I am very badly dyslexic), and are currently waiting to be approved by the Vermont service center... Estimated to be approved by late September.... Originally I hoped to be in the USA by then starting my Medical degree again but apparently not!

Just browsing the boards for random advice currently, I am not experienced enough to dish it out right now.

At this moment in time I am currently tying up loose ends in my life, paying off credit cards and loans, stopping phone contracts, and just getting ready even though I still have a little while longer to wait. I still need to save up for a house deposit. unsure.gif

One of the main issues I am having is shipping right now, however I am selling all my old DVDs and books on eBay just to save a few $$/££ rather than have to ship them all over there.

Thank god most of my shoes and clothes are over there, otherwise there would be many more boxes!

I hope to learn more over the coming days about everything and hope your all having a smooth transition smile.gif.
