TEEKOL - NBI said the red flag onmy SO's record is from a late credit card bill, my SO lost her job in 2006 so she had some Credit Cards that went 60 days. Didnt know that can go on an NBI! hahahaha! they were all dismissed after payments were received.

You are joking!!!!! You have gone through all of this because of an overdue payment?!??!?!?!? I am lost for words (and that doesnt happen often). So does that mean its all sorted and she can fly?

As soon as the SO gets back to te hotel and gives me the good news, she gets a call from the Embassy, and they said the VISA's can't be sent yet coz there are similar names to hers that has pending crimes! #######!!!!!! OH MAN!
Our case along with the kiddos are on AP!

SHOOT! this sucks!

Word from the Embassy: You do not have to retrieve a new NBI certificate, we will contact the NBI office in your city and contact you.

Things are never easy!

And we thought we were on the clear! HAHAHAHAHAHA!

I informed my lawyer already and he will follow up in the embassy!

What's funny is this, how can my SO have a current NBI certificate if she has crimes? AND OH! OH OH! Their finger printing machine is broken! so they con't do an on the spot check! HAHAHAHAHA! how awesome!

Oh wellz, the waiting continues............

Oh no!!!!! I cant imagine how this feels!!!! My thoughts are with you. Hope it gets sorted quickly.

When anyone in a long distance relationship I know is having problems I tell them to just sit and think what would your life be without them. If they just vanished and you never heard from them again, how would you feel and how would it be. Sounds simple because it is, just stop and think. Often as people we make things so complex and look past the simple. Take a few steps back and simply think about life. Really, really think about what simple things make you happy, the free things, because it is those things that matter when all around us changes. star_smile.gif

That was a really nice post Caminic and so very true. I think sometimes we get so caught up in trying to get to be with the one we love, these things get pushed to the back of our minds.

Thanks for the reality check biggrin.gif

I wanted my August Filer Family to be the first to know...

We were approved this morning!!!

All went well at the interview. It was amazingly brief, not difficult/threatening or anything at all negative in the face of the rest we have dealt with in the process. I was allowed to interview with him, which was really nice. Also, everyone at the embassy was actually friendly. An overrall good experience!

We are able to pick up his visa next Friday, and are planning a POE on Saturday though Houston. I will write more in detail later! We need to go celebrate!

Seb&terry: Congrats!!!

Hyena: I´m so sorry to hear! But I´m glad you realized sooner than later and I hope everything works out for you!

Congratulations!!! Another one is free to go home biggrin.gif

Hi guys,

I was just wondering if anybody has any information about visiting the US before the interview date.

My fiance gave birth a month early today. The problem is my packet 3 is stuck in processing hell. We sent it out 4 weeks ago this friday and we cannot do anything about it not getting there until that day, and even then we do not know what action the embassy will take. They may just ask us to send it again.

CONGRATULATIONS on becoming a dad!!! I am afraid I cant give you any answers to your questions but wanted to wish you all the best and hope you find a way to be with your new family soon !! rose.gif

I will be off the forum for a while BUT will still be checking now and then. Like Maliciant (Who will be visiting his love and preparing for his final steps of this process) I too will be preparing. My case is a bit more complicated than most K1 fiancee cases which is why I have an attorney. I have all my papers and packets ready now and preparing myself for this short yet stressful step and obstacle.

Everyone who already have their NOA2's, goodluck on the next step!

Everyone who are still waiting, GODSPEED to you all! be strong, our NOA2 is on the way!

Wish me luck and good success for the next step.........

Godspeed everyone and take care..........

Absolutely, good luck and hope that you are reunited quickly!! Take care now and dont forget to come back and let us know from time to time how you are getting on.

Next time I talk to my fiancee, she'll be telling me about her medical, today is a huge day for us, I think if the medical goes normally then we are home free! (Well, with the exception of the visa not being delivered before the flights are scheduled to leave... but going to try to pick them up instead of get them delivered, all mail people end to have a hard time finding her house, not just the regular mail but UPS and DHL, etc).

Hope the medical went well today. Fingers crossed for you!

Hi everyone, just a quick note for all of those that will be getting a medical in the UK.

I have booked mine today and was lucky enough to have received my case number from our NOA2. Previous posts mentioned that they dont ask you for it, they seem to have changed it and now they do.

Thought I would pass on my encounter as a couple of weeks ago when I hadn't got my case number I was going to blag it and say I had got it, then I would have looked a complete idiot jest.gif

Hi guys, sorry for the absence but trying to get paperwork together and my man came over for the Christmas holidays biggrin.gif so was enjoying being with him again.

Happy New Year to everyone!

I have a question though, if someone can please help. We are filling in the I-134 and he has noticed that his life insurance doesnt cover the amount of the mortgage on the house. This is an oversight on his behalf, but the problem is, do we fill out the I-134 with this amount, or wait until he has got life insurance for the full amount of the mortgage? (which he is going to do anyway) If we decide to wait for the later option its going to delay getting the paperwork back to the embassy.

Any ideas please?

Thanks

I dont think it really matters if your life insurance covers the value of the property or not. Ultimately, the property is still of value, so even it life insurance doesnt cover it, it should still be able to be sold. I think the life insurance question is really related to if your policy has a cash value (ie not term life insurance). It can be considered another asset in that case. Generally speaking, he shouldnt be able to get a loan on the house unless it appraised (Yeah, I know, the housing market has crashed, but this form hasnt changed since before the crash), so the value of the house should be greater than the mortgage. Generally speaking, people must put 10% or more down, so it also can be considered as an asset.

Thanks so much for your response. This was the way we were thinking too.

Good luck with the rest of your visa journey

Hi there as far as I understand you don´t have to put if you have a house as long as you meet the poverty guidelines with the salary alone.

I asked this question long ago and that´s what everybody told me.

Thanks so much for your speedy reply.

So we dont need to fill in about the house at all, if we are over the poverty guidelines? What about the life insurance question?- just to confirm biggrin.gif

She also had a look at my veil ( I am wearing the one my mum wore at her wedding 28 years ago) and said she would attach a comb to hold it in my hair, and put some of the beading in the little flowers that she would do it for free! I have an awesome dress maker!!!

186... not bad... you did file very early in the month so you are pretty much at the front of the line for august filers.

I don't think that VSC is moving slower than CSC so much as it's reporting slower, but I'm not sure about that. There is an August CSC thread but it's only got a meager 17 pages (also a August VSC thread I believe too but it had even less), pretty much the whole august group is concentrated here, at least as far as activing posting. There are threads about the glitch already, I figure it'll get sorted out soon enough, it's just one more goofy thing to discuss while we wait.

I am in shock, I checked Igors list this morning and had jumped from 138 to 101 !!!! I thought that we had been taken off or moved way back!!!.......we are getting there folks!!!!

Becoming a psychologist in america is not that difficult I don't think, something along the lines of 2 years of college, basically as I understand it, psychologists aren't a licensed profession, and having any kind of schooling/training is uh... optional. Becoming a psychiatrist on the other hand, is a full on medical doctor, requires 6 - 8 years of school, and I know one girl who was in the middle of her residency, there are times where she'll be working 100 hour shifts for months at a time (only a slight bump up from the 60 hour shifts she normally worked). All that and most american's don't know the difference (or that there is one) between a psychologist and a psychiatrist! Either way though living in the country without a license will be rough, you'll definitely want to work on that as soon as possible especially if he's very far out.

And another july filer approval showed up on igor's last night on CSC... I think it's official now, july is getting worked on!

Yeah, I've often gotten the "you want to be a shrink" line over there, and have to explain that psychiatrist and psychologist, and even psychotherapist, are all different things.

It's incredibly difficult to get registered in America. A lot of people think they can get a degree in psych and not much else, but you'll find you won't be able to practise until you're in your late 20's at least. In the UK you can get a Masters (there are specialised subjects) plus experience, and eventually get accredited as part of the British Psychological Society. Then you're allowed to research independently or continue studying for a further degree. In the U.S, you have to have a PhD or similar doctorate degree to become licensed as a practising psychologist (with the American Psychological Association). I've never seen any option over there for how to become a Research Psychologist.

I think a lot of it has to do with the content.. US degrees aren't as difficult as ones in the UK (at least I've heard that from exchange students, international teachers, and by looking at the course content) but are prolonged over more years.

I've looked at schools in Massachusetts and they're all very expensive. the ones that aren't don't seem too challenging or to lead anywhere as a professional researcher.

Thanks for the advice Donna, I think you're right, only we can make the decision. Well, only me really. I need to decide if my few hours of graduation is worth an extra 3-6 weeks of waiting. My dad has rented my room out to a lodger for the money, and I refuse to go back and sleep on the sofa for all that time. My friends are all moving back home too, and unless I find a place to stay with them, it might be easier to throw a celebration party and leave for the US.

Hope everyone is doing well, glad to see that July filers are being processed. smile.gif

Gemmie, I agree with what Donna-Marie says, it is only you that can make the final decision, and you should talk it through with your SO, but I will lay Devils Advocate here, having been in a slightly similar positon when I was married before and having to walk away. You are prepared to leave so much behind, which is admirable, and each of us that is moving to the USA is doing something similar in our own way, but dont you think that missing your acknowledgement for all of your achievements and the long road you have travelled through academia, is maybe one that you dont really have to give up?

If your visa will still be valid until just after the ceremony, couldnt you arrange to fly out the day after or maybe a few days later? I know you will have to rough it on a couch or 'make do' somewhere ( I know what its like because I am staying with relatives myself) but, may this be worth it to finish off that long journey before embarking on your journey of a lifetime? Being with your SO biggrin.gif

As mentioned earlier, I am just looking at it from a different angle, you know what you have sacrificed to get where you are, what may lay ahead. Whatever you decide I wish you happiness in your future with your SO.

smile.gif thanks Teekol smile.gif

Looks like we won't know today though, Chris' car was t-boned by a taxi driver on his way to work. He wasn't hurt (thank god) but spent 4 hours with the police at the accident, needless to say he missed work, USCIS and some important meetings.

As much as I would love to know about our case I am considerably happier about know that Chris is ok at this point.

OMG!!!! Thank god he is ok. Must have been a terrible shock for both of you.

It is good Gemmie smile.gif Reading the Shadow Rising at the moment, 4th book in the series the wheel of time by robert jordan. Chris gave me a copy of his favorite book (the first one in the series) for my 20th bday, have to admit that i have become addicted lol.

See I as fairly sure the pertitioner had to fill in a form that looked at the tax details over the last so many years as well as all the other junk to prove that they made enough money consistantly, I remember Chris mentioning that he had to get copies of his tax returns.....

I dunno, Ill ask him when I get up tomorrow smile.gif

Night guys
