Hey guys, I don't know how to get to my last post on my phone but he's my husband and we did the i130. Were sending the ds230 today. Does anyone know how long it will be until we receive our next set of papers which I believe is the medical part of the process then the interview.

why not scan your scrap book and print copies of it? you can always bring the original and give them the photocopies.


never thought of scanning, thanks for the idea ;)

the window is very tiny so you would have to show him through the glass window.. he asked me to show him my wedding album through the window, but i had regular pics in ziploc baggies and i passed them to him and he saw some of them...


ok great :) thats where i was second guessing myself. I might print some extras just in case !

Hey guys :)

So I am very organized and have put all of my pictures with my SO in scrapbooks. Do you think that's a good idea? After reading reviews, I have realized that they ask you to hand them your pictures but mines are cut and glued in my scrapbook (which i must say scrapbooking takes ALOT of time and dedication). I also read a review where someone had a scrapbook and it wasn't a problem but now i am second guessing it :blink:

love dont feel like that..i think that they dont have a certain patten of scheduling appointments i though you would get an earlier date like july 11th or 12th something like that but hey Gor knows what hes doing and hes doing what is better for you :) pluss a friend that works at the consulate told me a few days before of the interview that NVC regulafrly all year long schedules 400 to 600 hundred intervies per day but summer season they schedules 900 to 1000 interviews thats a lot of interviews so maybe thats why:)

Hey Marie, dr is playing games lol I told in<3 that I swore that they scheduled everyone they thought was going to get denied together lol but that makes sense. I just always thought that it would go in order but then again, we are speaking about Santo Domingo lol

It took them a month to schedule my husband's appointment after case complete, every consulate is different. Why are you thinking the worst? You got an interview...what is there bad to think about? Every case is different, and if you compare yourself to others and worry about every detail it will drive you insane!!!!

Idk, I just assumed that the interviews were in. order but I guess not. Your right, every consulate is different

To help you better understand, I received my case complete on May 23 and the DR consulate scheduled my interview for July 23. But i know of some people whose cases were completed aftermines and received an earleir date :/ is that normal? I am thinking the worst right now :crying:

Hey, when I went for my husbands interview there were alot of children. But I honestly got cranky towards the last two hours of being there so can you imagine a child? Hi guys,

I bring good news to all: I am now an American citizen!!!

Just to recap from my last posting:

5/4/10 - I got an email from the USCIS online status system that they have mailed me a notice for RFE on 5/3/10. I checked my account online and I saw that it was touched on 5/3/10 and the status went back to "Request for Evidence" from "Testing and Interview"

5/5/10 - Account was touched and still with the "Request for Evidence" status.

5/15/10 - Account was touched and it moved to "Testing and Interview" I also got an email that an interview noticed was sent. I already passed the interview, provided police clearances as requested, and signed the affidavit that they sent me attesting that I was never charged, arrested, or convicted of any crime.

5/17/10 - I received the notice for "Re-Interview." It did not have the usual details about ...if you are filing based on marriage, etc. (which I was) - only the first lines about bringing the green card, DL, I-94, etc.

6/15/10 - Re-Interview date. I brought with me the same documents I brought on my original Interview (2/24/10), plus copies of the police clearance I submitted in March, and the Affidavit they sent me attesting that I do not have any arrest, convictions, etc. which I submitted in April. When I arrived at the 2nd floor of the USCIS office as indicated on the appointment, I was sent to the 3rd floor! After waiting for about 15 minutes - I was called in and the IO promised me I will be out in 2 minutes! And this was because she just needed me to sign a piece of paper that matches the signature on the affidavit sent to me in April!!!

--> And then she gave me the white paper for my Oath!

6/23/10 - Oath Ceremony. I took my Oath as a new American citizen amongst 69 other new citizens. This ends my VJ journey for myself - I shall now embark on getting my siblings. Thanks to all here for the support.

10/10/06 Passed Interview (15 minutes!) / Conditional Permanent Residence granted
8/18/08 Application to remove Conditional Permanent Residence status filed
5/10/09 Application to remove Conditional Permanent Residence status approved
9/4/09 N-400 Filed
6/23/10 American citizenship conferred

Lessons:
1. If your fingers are smooth, try building the ridges before a scheduled biometrics. I did not do this (hence they took 2 failed biometrics), but it makes sense, especially to those who are typing on a keyboard everyday (like me).
2. If you get called for a 2nd biometrics, expect that it will fail. Prior to your N-400 interview, get police clearances from EVERY State Police/Patrol where you lived in the last five years prior to the application, and present these to the IO if you are given a letter that you need to send them in. (I did not ask if IO will allow/accept these, but it's worth a try to avoid at least a 1-month delay.)
3. If you are sent an Affidavit to sign and return, call the IO who sent it and arrange that you bring it in person. (Again, I did not ask this but it makes sense that you cannot just sign an Affidavit mailed to you, return it, and expect that it will be accepted. According to the last IO I spoke with on 6/15/10, USCIS rules require them that this be signed in their presence, hence my 2-minute re-Interview.)

Hi Fred,

Thanks for the update! :thumbs:

Sorry though, that you had to go through the situation of them having problems with your fingerprints and then you having to redo them and get fingerprinted again. Yikes! I hope this gets sorted out for you soon, and that you will be a US Citizen shortly after that.

As for what to bring to your interview....If I were you I would bring the following...
1) the interview letters and identification (lol..I don't think they'll even let you in the door without that)
2) originals of any paperwork/evidence that you included with your N-400 appliation
3) police clearances and fingerprint notices and affidavits..regarding to that issue..
4) anything else that they require from you, as stated on your interview letter and/or other USCIS notices.

As well, you'll probably get a "white letter" or a "yellow letter", prior to your interview, telling you what to bring (lol..at least that was the case for me, as I got a white letter, with a detailed list of what I needed to bring)...

Oh, and make sure you study for your civics/history test too, as you need to know that information in order to pass...

Fred-Thanks for the update. Sorry to hear that you had problems with the police clearances/fingerprints. Yikes! I wonder why they had problems with your fingerprints in the first place...hmm...maybe it was an error on their end with their machines..Still, it doesn't seem fair that you have to go through all this to prove your records, despite paying them a fingerprints/biometrics fees. In my opinion, yes, I think you should contact the USCIS about your case, to see if you have any updates from them (though I'm not sure if that is going to help you too much though...lol..). As well, you can contact your local congressman and/or senator for further assistance there, especially if it has been 120+ days since your interview. Good luck with your case, and yes, do keep us updated here. Good luck in getting an oath date soon too.

I'm still waiting for my Oath letter. Here's what's going on since my last update:

1. I passed the interview on 2/24/10 @ the Philadelphia office.
2. After the interview, I was handed the N-652 form which shows I passed the Interview, but a decision cannot yet be made regarding my application. The reason for this is that my fingerprints - TWO of them - were "unclassifiable" - meaning the agency ad/or FBI cannot determine if I have a record or not.
3. I got the dreaded "Continuance" Form N-14, which instructed me to mail to this office (attention the field officer who interviewed me) a State Police clearance from every city I lived in the the last three years (since I'm applying via marriage to a US citizen).
4. I forwarded the notarized police clearances from two states I lived in by mid-March.
5. The following week, I got a call from another field agent telling me I will receive a "Record of Sworn Statement (Fingerprints)" that I need to sign attesting that I did not tangled with the law or law enforcement officers. I returned the same as soon as I received it.
6. I'm still waiting for any call or letter. My case on the USCIS website remained "untouched" and the last update was when about the time they sent me the Interview appointment letter.

Any ideas what's going on or any suggestions? I'm planning to call the last person I spoke with (#5 above) to check what happened to the document I sent back to him. (I sent it via registered mail with signature so I know it was received.)

Good news: I passed the interview!

Bad news: my SECOND fingerprint is still unusable. Hence, I'm required to mail to the DO "... official police clearances, bearing the original signature or seal of the issuing official, from the State Police. Please include on the clearance all names you have used in the past five years. The police clearances (or record checks) should cover the last five years and be submitted from any city in which you have lived for the past five years."

Questions (and help please!):

1. Do I just submit a police clearance from the State Police?
2. Or do I need to submit police clearances from the state police (as mentioned in the first sentence), city (as mentioned in the last sentence), or even from the county (as mentioned in some other fora)?
3. Is it wise to ask the IO for clarification by way of a letter with a SASE perhaps?

Anyone who experienced the same? Any pointers, tips, etc. is welcomed. I have till the last week of March to send these in.

Shredshark-Wow, 2 months is sure a long time to wait! Hope you don't have to wait too much longer for an oath date soon. Who knows, maybe a future infopass appointment will help in your case too (make one as soon as possible!). And yes, if you don't hear from them again, then do contact them again soon. And if you still don't get results, by all means, contact your congressman, and see if they can help speed things up there.

Applicants must submit application documents to NVC to be documentarily qualified for the visa interview. Unless all requirements are submitted, the Embassy cannot process a visa application to completion. Be mindful of the expiration dates of the required documents, .........so does my fiance have to send this to the NVC ?

I had my interview on Tuesday in London and thought that I would just let you guys know of a couple of things that I didnt think of blush.gif

#1 - I took all of my evidence of an ongoing relationship which included cards my SO had sent me, two of these were musical ones, never gave it a thought that when they say dont take anything ELECTRONIC that there is an electronic thingie in the cards. They showed up on the x-ray machine and I wasnt allowed to progress into the building with the cards, so ended up binning them. So if any of your proof contains lovely little musical gadgets I suggest you leave them at home biggrin.gif

#2 - For those with children, the visa fee applies to each of them as well. If, like I did, you forget to take enough cash to cover you and your children they will allow you to go out of the embassy to the bank and return to pay. Be aware that they hold onto your file though while you do this so it falls further and further behind in the queue, although if you dont have to be any where thats not really much of a problem either.

My husband does go 'outside' his local circle but has still had trouble making friends. There is one guy he would consider a good friend if they lived closer together. As it is, they're an hour apart one way, and that's if the guy isn't out of state working for a change. Everyone else he's met, he can only take in small doses. :lol:

I think he's accepted the fact that he'll never really have a friend like his best friend. Even if he found someone he really liked, they wouldn't have that long history of a common experience.

He's generally not a lonely person which is good, but I know he sometimes wishes he had someone to go to the pub with every now and then. I feel bad because there's nothing I can do. :(

This does sound similar to my situation. Does he hang out with any of your friend's partners? or is he just completely uncomfortable?

You need to look outside your local area.

Is there a Lions Club nearby (every town in the US seems to have one!). Rotarians?

If your hubby is an introvert you need to get your own friends! One of Katie's friend's husbands (wow) is a decent guy and him and me get along and he's been looking for a guy friend to hang out with (he generally hates other people) so I have someone to go shooting/fishing with etc.

Katie's brother is a cool guy too but he works unsociable hours.

My plan is to join a Lions Club in Schererville (try saying that drunk) and mingle. I guess it helps I have a social hobby (amateur/ham radio) and there are a few clubs in the area. Then again Schererville isn't a one horse town either.

As for us Sasenach's hating the Jocks - utter tripe. There's a LOT of friendly banter between the English and the Scots and most of it is good natured. Personally I adore the Scottish accent on a girl - yes, I include all Scots accents, even broad Glasweigan. Maybe that's where the Scottish lady from earlier is from - it's a hard accent to get your head around, but I'm an accentophile (erm, is there a proper word for that?) as well as being a linguist (no funny jokes from the back, thank you!).

I was wondering if any of you guys were having problems finding friends in the USA? I moved to PA two years ago and as yet haven't managed to make many friends. I am having difficulty finding opportunities to intigrate into this small community. My work involves health care on a one-to-one basis so I dont even have the opportunity to make friends with colleagues (I dont have any). My husband is an introvert although he has friends he can choose to contact although he doesn't seem to feel the need to. I had a few very good friends in the UK who I interacted with on a regular basis. I was just wondering how you are all getting on in your different areas.

What you can do is email the US embassy in Trinidad with ur concern, they usually answered my emailing in 1-3 business days. Or maybe call up the Head office (where the PCC came from) and find out when exactly it is good until. When did you get it? If I get an August Interview date I may run into the same problem. Just when I think everything is ok, I find something else to worry about.
This is to all of you who have recently entered Miami for point of entry.
How long, in general, was your processing times? My wife will be arriving there in April, and we have a connecting flight three hours after arriving in Miami.
Is there a chance we will finish POE processing and catch our connecting flight? I am sure there is a chance we will miss the flight.
I have already read POE reviews, but would like more recent occasions.

Well i never went thru the whole interview thin in MIA aiprot BUT when every my son an i fly thur there we ALWAYS miss our flight. I swore Id never do it again BUT my aunt gave me a plane ticket for my anniversay and she connected us thur MIA. I plan to come back with no bag n my sun and i will wear sneaker to runnnn.

alot of planes land at the SAME time in MIA. Bag take VERY long to come thur the bagage claim. it's like a nightmare sometimes. Im not trying to scare you but cant u connect thur another airport or have a longer time to connect.

some times if u pay a little more to connect thur a less hectic airport it helps.

Maybe for everyone MIA wasn't bad but for me just connecting it was.

I am very sad for the both of you, I do recall the same situation where the embassy called the father and said that the couple was married and confusing him. I kinda agree with either getting an attorney and or going ahead with the marriage. So sorry there's nothing else we can offer to say to help.

Although I sent my fiancee my 134, I believe she'll take it to the interview as it was not asked for during the 3.5 stage. I had emailed the embassy about a week after it left NVC and got a quick response. The embassy has been responding to all my emails almost immediately.

For everyone's benefit, following is the K1/K3 packet 3.5:

· 2 Additional photos with white or off-white background (2x2 inches)
· Passport copy of the first 2 pages with applicant’s information (Original passport not required)

Post will review the submitted documents for completeness, and will contact the applicant for further documentation if required. Once the applicant is documentarily qualified, we will schedule him/her for interview. Hey, i looked at your timeline comments. What is packet 3.5? Is it something in between of 3 and 4?
Would you mind discussing a bit of what is the process like for Islamabad after VSC approval, and what supporting docs they asked for.

Packet 3.5 is the request of the police certificates, birth certificate, forms ds 156, 156k, 157 and 230 if I recall. Once completed and sent, the embassy sends interview date and go ahead for medical. I don't think there is Packet 3 anymore.

I just saw my first hindi/indian/bollywood movie (not sure of the correct terminology) the other day and I LOVED it. It was 'Vivah', which I've come to understand is a well-known film. I came across it on youtube, all in one clip and with english subtitles.

What struck me most was how romantic it was. :wub: Wow, I guess it reminded me of a romance novel. I am quite enthralled by the old-fashioned romance that developed between the characters. :blush: There was no overt sexual activity thrown in my face, but rather a really cute, sweet, romantic relationship that slowly developed onscreen.

Can anyone direct me on how to see more romantic Bollywood movies that have english subtitles, online? Preferably in one clip. Youtube literally had no others and I've tried Google, but didn't get anything.

I'm sure there's an Indian Grocery store nearby, they not only sell spices but also usually have songs and movie rentals (with subtitles)

Your very lucky your approval took 20 days mine took 80+ seems a bit unreal doesnt it.

it is unreal bc i was thinking it was going to take until march that were going to get the noa1 let alone get the noa2 before the end of february but i think the rest of it will go slow. i already started him to get stuff, like pictures more conversations for the interview, he said we dont need the affadivit of support bc his friends that have gone through didnt need it but i have it ready anyways. i told him to get a nice suit i will be sending him a folder full of stuff like conversations and more pics he doesnt have of us so i will be ready for anything inchallah.
