Got a yellow letter from USCIS in Lees Summit stating that after a complete review of our file we may need additional documents at your interview that is not yet scheduled, that document is copy of driver license or state issued ID.  Did anyone else get something similar?

At time : 09:30 am

 

You are hereby notified to appear for an interview on your Application for Naturalization a t the date, time and place indicated appointment above. Waiting room capacity is limited, please do not arrive any earlier than 3 minutes before your scheduled  appointment time. The proceeding will take about two hours. If for any reason you cannot  keep this appointment, return this letter immediately to the USCIS office address listed below with your explanation and a request for a new appointment, otherwise no further action will be taken on your application.

 

You MUST BRING the following with you to the interview:

 

*This letter

*Your Alien Registration Card (green card)

*Any evidence of Selective Service Registration (What kind of evidence?)

*Your Passport and/or any other documents you used in connection with any entries into the United States

*Those items noted below which are applicable to you:

 

If applying for NATURALIZATION AS THE SPOUSE of a United States Citizen:

* Your Marriage certificate

*Proof of death or divorce for each prior marriage of yourself of spouse

So that's what EB stood for! I was seeing this on the previous months' filers and for the life of me couldn't figure out what that was. Thanks for correcting my bio and walk in dates. 

 

Early biometrics dates are to be placed beside field office like this (EB:--/--/--) just as Azure has edited. I'm fixing khabhatti biometrics and EB date.

Just did our biometrics, walk-in, the lady was really nice, we went at the end of the day about 35 minutes before closing. Now we're hoping going early does help move things along.

We did, based on 3 year marriage as a K1 visa. Sent, 3 years taxes, previous divorce docs, copy of green card and us citizen passport copy, couple of passport style photos of applicant along with N-400 and $680. This info is available in the guides here on VJ.

OMG, so yesterday my husband and I happened to be talking about the beach and men wearing speedos..... I have no recollection of how this came about.... it just did. Anyway, my husband mentioned the guy who was wearing a speedo at the Chester Races in England last summer.... which is a huge annual event.... and how odd and abnormal he found that. All of a sudden it struck me as absolutely hilarious because, although I found it odd.... I thought it was completely normal. :lol: (I think right there you can see the difference in culture.) And then I remembered I had taken a picture of the guy! As security was in the process of escorting him out, my daughter ran over saying "Wait! Wait! I need to have my picture taken with him first!". So they waited! LOL. Anyway.... here it is.....

My case is pending at the VSC. I applied in early October 2007/biometrics at the end of November. Haven't heard anything since. I was really looking forward to going home and doing some traveling this summer because it's the last time I'll be able to have this amount of free time before I start working....Unfortunately, VSC has slowed down, as we all know, and I am still waiting for my approval.

Anyway, at this point I don't know what to do. Can I go home now, with my expired green card and the extension letter? If I get an RFE I will probably have to come back and take care of it. But what happens if I get my 10-year green card while I'm gone? Will I still be able to come back to the US with my old expired card? Or will I have to have my new card mailed to me? (which I really wouldn't like to have to do, for various reasons).

Anybody with similar experiences?

Her US husband can move up to Canada with her.  There is no stigma like there is in the USA.  However after they move and file, it will take about 8-9 months him to get a work permit and then another 20+ months to get PR status in Canada.  The longest part of that wait is the FBI check, which should be done before they move, if they plan on it, because that significantly shortens the time to a Canadian PR. 

 

But they can also start outside of Canada right now the initial processing time is taking 34 days vs 8-9 months from inside.  Still total time outside is minimum 22 months and from inside is 16... Seems better to do it from the inside. smile.png


US immigration doesn't seem to take so long anymore does it?


 The only part is that the OP did AOS the first time.  The second time, probably wouldn't be an option. 



 

 

NLR from everything else I have read it seems that the process from outside will take less time for my husband. Obviously the part that would matter to us would be that he gets a work permit as quickly as possible.

Also for the FBI check, can we just request it from the US and then submit it with the application?

Hmmm I dont know if this is general knowledge but you can get your medical as soon as you get P3 -- at least in Toronto. I scheduled mine the moment I got P3.

That said, I can only speak for my experience in Toronto. I had my medical on a Monday and got results on Wed after noon. Unless there is a problem, they will release your medical results and x-ray film as soon as they are done processing it. I believe if there is a problem (some thing in your bloodwork, etc) they will call you by the afternoon of your medical. I dont think its necessary that you get it a full week before Nov 10 -- unless thats some rule Im not aware of.

You should call right away for a medical, depending on where you are. I dont think you will get your visa approved if you come to the interview sad.gif

One person here received their medical date the day after he called. Others got it within a few days. Another option is for you to get your medical in Montreal -- if you are already planning on staying a week there or so.


Yeah, we are aware of that, but he's all the way in NB and very far from the approved doctors. We read on here about other people just scheduling it for same week as interview and that was just going to be a much better option for us, to do it all in one trip.

CanadaTiming the Medical and Interview in Montreal
So we finally got our interview date (YAY!)! Unfortunately, they sprung it on us last minute--it's on November 10th, and now we're freaking out about having the medical done on time for the interview. I see the guide suggests getting it done a week ahead of time. Did anyone else get it done closer to the interview date, as in maybe just a few days, or even not yet have the medical results ready when they went to the interview? If so, what happened? Taking two weeks off work just isn't possible financially, and we're not sure what the right thing to do would be.

I'm wondering if we did get the medical too close to the interview and didn't have the results ready for the interview, would they deny us? Or just put it on hold?

Congrats to cody and loveforall! It was great meeting you guys! I'm sorry I haven't posted sooner about the results of our interview. I've been a bit swamped at work since coming back. Anyway, since we were missing the police certificate, he just said we had to send that in and they would send our approval. He said everything else looked perfect and asked us "what happened?" when it came to the certificate since everything else was fine. lol So I explained the misunderstanding to him and he said it'd be no problem. We got the police certificate ordered the first day home last week, and it arrived Monday, was sent back to the consulate on Tuesday! So now they'll have everything they need and hopefully we'll hear from them soon! smile.gif

It's true, they didn't ask for most of what we had either. They asked for no evidence, and asked just basic questions about our relationship (who proposed, if we've met each others' families, etc.). He was very friendly and joked around with us, and the interview was actually a very nice experience. Man, my nerves were really on edge leading up to it, though! We're so glad it's over!

Hi there!!

You can usually find it by searching in the VJ forum (at the top left of the page) or by clicking the UK flag will give you current UK topics which you may find useful.

However, I stumbled across your posting and I have recently been through the London Embassy visa process biggrin.gif (February of this year). Dont worry it isnt as bad as you think it may be. Make sure you get there as early as you can, it didnt really matter to the guards outside what time my appointment was, you just get in the queue and wait your turn. Dont take your mobile phone or you will be turned away and will have to deposit it somewhere and come back (there is a chemist not far that charges a huge amount 10.00 pounds I believe, if you have nowhere else to leave it).

You stand in the queue and have to show your passport and your appointment letter to the guards when you get to them, then they let you continue to wait. You then get to go through security in the x-ray building to the right of the queue. Needless to say everything goes through the machine. A note of advice, if you take any proof of ongoing relationships that include musical cards, leave them behind. They cant go through as they are electronic so not allowed in the Embassy....I had to bin mine sad.gif

Once through the x-ray you then go into the main building, take a ticket number (K1s should get a number begining 5) and then the waiting process begins........a long wait. Numbers are called and shown on the screen and when called it gives you your number and booth to take your ticket to. When you are first called they check that you have all the correct documents, and get you to go and pay your fee. Also be aware they do not take Maestro cards. If, like me you didnt realise that, they can give you your passport back and allow you to leave to go and get some money and return, so its not like once you are in if you forget something they wont let you go and get it. But when you come back you still have to go through x-ray checks. If you have children dont forget that you have to pay for them too.

When all of that is sorted you go to wait again, and for us this was the longest wait. A book if you can focus or a paper will help the time pass by if you can concentrate.

You are then eventually called again and this time its for your interview. The woman that interviewed me just made general chit chat about when we were marrying, what my fiance did for work, has he been over to the UK? Have I been over to the States before? that kind of thing, so no spotlight questions lol. I didnt even know she had granted me the visa! I had to ask, she was so casual biggrin.gif and very friendly.

Then you get a pink slip and are told to take it to the courier station and arrange for your visa to be delivered. They hold onto your passport so they can attach the visa inside and this is what they deliver to you along with an envelope which YOU MUST NOT OPEN!! It says not to on the front of it so dont panic. You need to put this in your hand luggage as at the airport border control they will need this envelope and it must be sealed.

The whole Embassy process for me was an anti climax. It was exciting being in such a huge building that few get to see inside, but the waiting brings it back down to earth. I would advise that if you dont have two US passport sized photos to get them done before hand rather than to depend on getting them done in the Embassy as when I was there one of the two were out of order.

Drinks and snacks are available also in the waiting area if needed.

I dont know if this will help but, I was also waiting for my case to get to NVC got tired of not knowing and decided to call uscis.
Phone: "Ring Ring"
Operator: blah blah blah reading of my case info.
ME: I will like to speck to a supervisor please.
Operator: they have the same infor i have mam.
Me: that's ok i need to speck to a supervisor.
Opertaor: ok please hold.
2nd Operator: Hi mr's ******** how may i assit you?
ME: my case is not at USCIS and was told to call USCIS to find out where my case is. (ok i lied about the part where i was told to call them but im trying to get an answer here man)
2nd operator: It can take up to 90 days for us to send the case.
ME: So you are telling me it can take 90 days for u to prepare cases and mail it to USCIS, that does not sound logical to me.
2nd operator: it can talk any where up to 90 days for us to send the case.
ME: I know but ure telling me it's going to take 90 days to put a batch of cases and mail it to NVC. (the more i say it the more he's thinking how stupid 90 days is sounding.
2nd Operator: please hold.

3rd operator: hello how may i help you.
Me: Im trying to find out where my case is.
3rd Operator: you case was mailed out yesterday (which was 04/11/12 21 days after my noa2)

15 days(4/11/12) after my noa2 date i did email nvc as told with the scanned noa2.
I still kept calling every day but didnt tell them i scanned it cus they will just say to wait for nvc to reply. WHen i called the following tuesday (4/17) they told me they have my case. I called Wed and they said they received it Monday (4/16).

on Fri 20th of april i got an email from NNVC that they received my case(they really got it on monday 16th)

National Visa Center (Dept of State)NVC did not receive case

My wife case (CR1) was approved on Mar23,2012 and nvc still have not received her case from USCIS (VSC) yet. I've sent her approval letter to NVCResearch@state.gov on 4/11 and received following reply on 4/12:
" Please be advised that the National Visa Center (NVC) has received your
inquiry and the attached I-797 Notice of Action - Approval Notice.
Unfortunately, we do not have record of receiving your approved petition
from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. The NVC will contact
USCIS on your behalf for information on the location of this petition."

As of today 4/20, they've not received her case yet and also i've not received any email from nvcresearch since above. Today is 21st business day and i am not sure how long do i've to wait to get NVC case#.

You can fill out ur time line and join "NVC April 2012" postings. There are ppl with NOA2 date before and on ur date still waiting for there case to be received. look at my signature line below... Ive been waiting 30 days since my noa2. USCIS took like 20something days to mail the file to NVC. I read that someone called NVC and was told they had or was geting a big batch to check back in the middle of next week. What i did was i called USCIS and demamded that someone told me when my case was sent out.

The birth certificate should have his full name on it, the 1st one is free but since they seem to have messed up maybe he can get it for free.
You should let him call or go 1st thing on monday moring and start to see about these important things. Trinidad tends to take there time to do something. Also let him explain his situation and see when he can get a passport appointment (he will need the birth certificate to get the passport).
