Sugarz,

That's WAY too close to have a flight booked. I fly out in January and I'm beginning to worry that I won't have my passport by THEN, so to have a flight booked 3 weeks after your interview and think you can have the oath and passport is really asking too much i would say. Not sure about getting oaths in other states, maybe someone else can help you with that.

I know...... Trinidad is so back wards that it's taking a long time for trini's to get a new machine readable passport (like 1yr). lucky for me they are giving extentions on expired passports. so i might just luck out, gotta leave phiily 4 am to head to ny (trinidad embassy) to be in line for 6:30 (no fun for me)

6am got up
8am left home (so nervous)
9something parked car and walked for 2 mins to 1600 Callowhill St (USCIS office in philly)
9:45 gave Interview NOA to recept, sat down and waited.
My appt was for 10:45 but i gave my self time to go thru traffic and get lost.
10:17 my name was called
IO took me into the office and ask for my :alien: card (greencard)
he said " ready for the test" yes was my answer.

Question not in the order that he asked but in the order i remember (supprising for how nervouse i was)
1.What are two parts of congress
2.What is the name of the president of the united states now?
3.what is the name of the vice president of the united states now?
4.Who is the commander in chief of the military?
5.Who wrote the Declaration of independance?
6.Who was the 1st President?
7.Name one state that boarders Mexico?
8.What is the political party of the president now?
9 What is the other politial party?
10.I cant remember this question.

I answered all correct and he asked all 10 did not stop at 6 correct.

it seems like a loth but as soon as he asked i answered and he question again, it was very quick 2 mins it took.
then he just quickly ask some questions about my app. (eg: my husbands name, if i have ever went to jail)

10:22am i was out of his office passed my test and told the oath will be in 3-4 weeks.

GOOD LUCK TO THOSE IN LINE.....THE KEY IS NOT TO BE NERVOUSE......I WAS THO VERY.....

Good luck!!!!!!
my test and Interview is on October 13th (Nervous  )

I guess I was also confused because we've done all that during the whole k1 process and probably the lifting of conditions .... I thought this was the easiest application to fill out.... just gotta dig out those divorce papers now as I am the US Citizen with all the baggage. Just to be clear, my wife's the one applying for naturalization and I'm her US Citizen. She was never married before. Thanks

Hi folks, I may be a June 2013 filer.... getting the N 400 ready and just double checking.... got the check almost ready, application is nearly done. According to the guide here on visa journey, do I provide divorce certificates of husbands ex-spouses and any other documents other then the front and back of my green card. We are filing the N400 based on marrying a us citizen via the K1 visa. Thanks and sorry I'm new to this part of the visa journey. More specifically, the guide is confusing me when it says "

Only if required, send copies of the following documents (the USCIS will request originals if needed):

newpost.gif If your current legal name is different from the name on your Permanent Resident Card, send:
The document(s) that legally changed your name (marriage certificate, divorce decree, or court document).

Isn't the 90 days prior from the point the USCIS get's your paperwork? Or are they going by the date you put on the n 400? If it's USCIS then you're probably good since the NOA is usually 3 or 4 days later. Hope you'll be fine.

If it's not too much trouble or too great a distance, I would go early, as in weeks. Just don't go in less then 45 minutes to closing time and ask them really nicely that you'd appreciate if they can do the bio today. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

US Citizenship General DiscussionI am freaking out! Help - urgent travel after oath!

This is not true!! You have to enter the US with a US passport.

OP,
Please tell us what city & state you live in so we can find a nearest passport agency for you.
You can get an appt if you have proof of travel within 2 weeks and you will be able to get a passport the same day.

Taken from the USCIS website, you can enter the US with a naturalization certificate:

If you were not born in the United States, carrying your valid U.S. passport is your best option to prove your U.S. citizenship. You can also use your original naturalization certificate or certificate of citizenship.

U.S. Citizens Travelling Internationally
U.S. Citizens and International Travel

If you are a U.S. citizen traveling internationally, you will need to carry your valid U.S. passport.
If you are traveling to or from a country where a U.S. passport is not required, you?ll usually need two documents:

  • A document to prove your identity, such as a valid U.S. driver?s license, military ID, or a valid government-issued photo ID; and
  • A document to prove your citizenship, such as a notarized copy of your birth certificate issued by a U.S. State.

If you were not born in the United States, carrying your valid U.S. passport is your best option to prove your U.S. citizenship. You can also use your original naturalization certificate or certificate of citizenship.
Note: Hospital-issued birth certificates, voter registration cards, and affidavits cannot be used as identification.

What is required to re-enter the United States?

A passport or other accepted document that establishes the bearer?s identity and nationality is required in order to enter or re-enter the United States.

Wrong! Yes you can travel on a different pasport once y ou leave the usa.... however You MUST enter the USA on a USA passport if you are a citizen....

if I'm not mistaken, you could enter the USA with your Naturalization Certificate

how long did your oath ceremony last at philly?

we made an appointment for a passport and wondering if 3 hours is enough, because it's about 4 miles away

"When applying for a U.S. passport in person, evidence of U.S. citizenship must be submitted with Form DS-11. All documentation submitted as citizenship evidence will be returned to you. These documents will be delivered with your newly issued U.S. passport or in a separate mailing."

I get that but did ya have to staple it; now Im dreading rips and tears lol

"Bring a photocopy of the front and back of each ID document that you will present when you apply."

And this crockery cuz we technically arent supposed to copy our naturalization certs

Sorry I have not been posting, I forgot to tell you all we got the letter for the biometrics.  and it WILL be in West Palm Beach.  (Royal Palm Beach, actually, but its still technically West Palm).  The date is 7/10/13 .  So, that answers that question!  Now, if only the interview won't be scheduled til AFTER we get back from Pakistan, as we leave on the 23rd and return Aug 20.. but we are all for moving the flight up depending on Interview date.  So... thanks to all who tried to help and looking forward to keeping up with all of you!

It seems that you went through the removal of conditions the same time we did.  My husband got his 10 yr green card in March of this yr also!  Welcome to the thread.  Good luck with your N400 application.  In Sha Allah!

Well, I didn't get the application finished in time to be in June..... moving to the July thread LOL. Thanks and hope all the best.

I passed my Interview on November 7 th  But no updates On oath yet , 2 moth and counting

I did request Name change , maybe that's why im not inline for Oath yet

Ahhhh that explains it, the name change, according to other sources on the web is the reason for your delay. Apparently you'll get sworn in before a Federal Judge and their schedule system so a 1 to 3 month delay may be expected.

We then went to the passport agency and had our passport made...paying the extra fee for same day service. We just wanted to finish. Period.
