I submitted my packet around January 10, 2008 and my Notice Date is January 16, 2008. I tried to check my status online and and via phone but I can't find my status neither.

I submitted my application at the Laguna Niguel Center in California

Though the centers are different, we are still in the same boat. And apparently, many others like us. The officer at USCIS told me today that they are behind because of the volume of work. You will not be able to find the status of your application on line or at over the phone until after Biometrics appointment, they say!

Hello,

I submitted my I-751 and received my NOA with a 1 year extension 2 weeks later. I haven't received my Biometrics appointment letter until now however. I see on the threads that people get theirs within a month. Should I start worrying that I might have lost it in the mail. Should I call the USCIS to inquire?

Please advise!

Thank you!

I have been waiting for mine for almost 2 months. When did you submit the package and to which center?

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionJanuary NOA1, no biometrics appointment yet
Just an update... I went for an info pass today; the lady could finally see somewhere that my biometrics appointment letter was sent in February to...a wrong address!!! headbonk.gif Two digits in the zip code were switched and was sent to a place I have never heard of. She called the service center and arranged the biometrics for today. I also called customer service three times to let them know the address is incorrect. They said somebody will call me when the system is updated. I do not what to expect in the future with my address all messed up...

05/23/08 Contacted Congressman Bachus office and they have started an inquiry and no response yet.
05/27/08 Senator Sessions office says USCIS says we are fine they are processing 4/1/07 cases.

MaryandMian,

Thanks for the info; I hope there is an error in your timeline and you haven't been waiting since 2003 blush.gif

I will look up for senators and congresmen in my area.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionJanuary NOA1, no biometrics appointment yet
Hi guys,

5 months, still no Biometrics appointment. We called 4 times the customer service and went for an infopass. The customer service rep we spoke to today said nobody started working on the inquiry we did beginning of May, though it's more then 30 days, the period of time we were told to wait. Will go to a second info pass in the next few days.

My question at this point to you is how can we get to a congressman, do we just check the phone book for an address and walk in the office? Are these inquiries proven to do any good? Thanks a lot...

Just wondering if we are the only ones in such a situation. We called customer service about a month ago and were told to wait another 30 days before we call again. After the first phone call, we were almost sure we'll get the appointment notice in mail. Still waiting... Any advice?

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion2 case numbers
Thank you all for your answers! Yes, I had the biometrics done same day I went for the info pass. The officer there told me first that a biometrics appointment letter was sent to me in February, she did not say anything about the address; when I told her I did not get it, she printed a copy of the original appointmnet letter with the date of February 17 and sent me to another office for the fingerprints and the picture. Only later I realized the address on the appointment letter was wrong, that is when I started calling the customer service to let them know about their error(it's clearly theirs because the NOA1 came ok at the correct address). I was told it will take a couple of days and somebody will call me back. It just crossed my mind, what if they considered the case dropped because I did not appear for the February appointment? What if they sent me something telling me that the case was abandoned, which I did not receive because was sent an a wrong address?

The most frustrating part is that we have called customer service 4 times before and went for two info passes before somebody took any action. For 5 months we have been told to wait and wait...

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion2 case numbers
Hi guys,

A summary of our case...sent package beginning of January, received NOA1 with case number end of January. No biometrics appointment until I walked with a info pass into a center three days ago . The officer printed on the spot a biometrics appointment letter dated February, 17 with a different case number and a wrong address, where the appointment was initially sent. After biometrics, I could finally access the case on line using the case number on the biometrics letter. It doesn't say anything else beside the fact that they received the application January 26 and is in process. I am very concerned that the case could have been considered abandoned because I did not have my biometrics done in February. Any thoughts?

I think your question is perfectly clear and here is the answer: To reach a USCIS customer service representative after you dial 1-800-375-5283 press 1240. You don’t have to listen to every prompt. As soon as you call press all these numbers and 'someone will be with your shortly' smile.gif

That's the answer! Short and sweet! Thanks! star_smile.gif In the meantime, I was able to find another shortcut per Vivi and JimJim's post at this topic http://www.visajourn...howtopic=107915. The prompts are: 1-2-6. .

Thank you, but this is not the answer I was expecting. I want to find if there is a possibility to speak to somebody on the phone when the case number is not accepted. If yes, how??? Thank you!

I think you don't understand. Spiderette gave you the same answer you would get IF you could EVER reach a human at the USCIS and the same answer I am going to give you (like it or not) . The number on your NOA1 is NOT the number you track your case with. The number you get when you receive your boimetrics appointment is the number.
Many of us (me included blush.gif ) have faced this same issue and when the biometics letter arrived that number worked just fine.

In other words, don't call Cust serv if you did not get a case number, no matter what your issue is. Is that because it is impossible to reach one without a case number or because I would not get an answer that would satisfy me?

Let me repeat myself. Is it possible to get to a real person on USCIS customer service telephone line without a case number? If yes, how??? Please, just forget why I want to call for now. Thanks!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionUSCIS customer service
What magic tricks do we have to learn to be able to speak to somebody in customer service at 1-800-375-5283? There is no option to speak to a person, guys? The two of us have been trying to get to talk to somebody for 4 days now. This looks like a lost cause for us; unless someone is willing to give us a helping hand. Therefore, to the lucky ones who talked to a customer service representative, what numbers do you press to get to speak to a customer service rep? Thanks much!

P.S. We received the NOA1, however the case number is not recognized when entered on line or over the phone.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionNo Bimetrics Appointment after 7 months
Our biometrics appointment was lost in mail, it took a good couple of visits with info passes and phones until we were lucky enough to get to an officer who revealed the big secret- the address where the letter was sent. Wrong address!!! We got an appointment for fingerprints on the spot and we hope the address was corrected in the system. Sad enough, during the 5 months of waiting we were told each time, everything is normal. Well, it was not. My advice: try to get to the bottom of your problem. Call and go to the local office until somebody gives you a specific answer. Good luck!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionWhat happens after bio?
QUOTE (Kathryn41 @ Jun 23 2008, 11:46 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
There are no online updates changing the information after you get the biometrics done. What often - but not always - happens is that the date of the case status update changes. This is called a 'touch' and it just means that your file was handled in one way or another and the information logged into the computer. Unfortunately, files can be handled and the information not logged into the computer so there is no date update, meaning that getting touched is really more 'reassuring' than significant.

Kathryn, thanks again, you are of a great help around here! good.gif

She does, amazingly enough. CIS policy provides that if the conditional resident whose NOA1 has or is about to expire is not in possession of an unexpired foreign passport, the CIS officer at the InfoPass appointment should issue a Form I-94 (arrival portion) containing a temporary I-551 stamp with a 12-month expiration date and a photograph of the conditional resident.

James, thank you for confirming what USCIS says. rose.gif It means a lot to me. Though there is plenty of time left until my NOA1 expires, getting a passport from my country, while in USA, is a very long and painful process. biggrin.gif

P.S.This forum and its people is a gold mine.

Now, I wont even try to go to USCIS because my NOA expires on August and they wont stamp my passport, it will be a waist of time!

Imailin,

I met an USCIS officer today with an infopass. One of my questions was: what if the 1 year extension pass and I have an expired passport (which I do). She said they would prefer a valid passport but, in case I do not get one by that time, I can come back to the office with photos and they would be able to give me some kind of card or paper stating my legal residence in USA. I hope she knows what she is talking about.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionVSC I-1751 Status List

[/quote]Congratulations bob71!!
I have a question, though.
Since you had your bio done in July, whenever you checked your case online according to your EAC #, which is -in the online status- the date stating they received your case?
(however, I guess if you never received your bio appt notice, with that EAC#, you might have never got to check your case on line)
thanks, and Congrats again!

Prior to Biometrics I could not check my status online. After, it said case received and pending until yesterday. good.gif

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionVSC I-1751 Status List
Hello all,

Can somebody add our info to the list? Our case was processed at Vermont, sent file around January 5th 2008, NOA1 was dated January 26th. Because USCIS sent the fingerprints schedule to a wrong address, it took a long time for us to figure out what happened. Finally, I walked into Pittsburgh local office and did the fingerprints in July (cannot remember date). Then today, we received the e-mail notifying that the card was ordered. Hopefully it will be sent to the right address this time. We want to thank everybody on this forum for the great, great advice given every time we needed it. Good luck to all of you that are still waiting!

I am using a lawyer to file my husband's K3. Currently my lawyer has told me that the NVC has forwarded our petition to his country and that it should physically be there right now. I am a little iffy on the specifics of what happens at this point. I have not received a letter from the NVC yet (I should get that, not my lawyer right?) and as far as I *think* I know, once I get that I need to mail it to my husband so he can go for his police certificate? Do I need to send him a form also for his medical exam? I have tried finding this information by searching so if I sound stupid I apologize, I'm just having trouble understanding what needs to be done from this point on.

I filed a K1, so I can only tell you my experience. After you've learned the NVC has forwarded your case to the Embassy in India, you will recieve a letter from them informing you of the Embassy they've sent it to and your newly assigned case number. This case number is important because you will need this to use in all your corespondences with the Embassy.

Do you know which one your case is being sent to? There are 3 U.S. Embassies in India, one in Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai. They each have a website with all kinds of very useful information. Just type in US Embassy Delhi, US Embassy Chennai or US Embassy Mumbai and it will show up in google. You'll see a tab at the top of the page that says 'Visa's', click on that and then to the left you'll see all kinds of info on the visa process. You'll also find links to their email addresses so that you can email them your inquiries.

You can even make an inquiry now if you want to see if they've received it yet, they will confirm it in their answer a yay or nay. This is what I did when I learned, like you, that my case had been forwarded to India.

Additionally, researching here on the VJ website is like going to the library in that it provides you with tons of information you'll need to keep you on the right track. Just click on 'GUIDES' at the top of any VJ page and you'll see what I mean.

Pretty soon you'll know as much as your attorney:)

Good luck to you on your journey! smile.gif

I am going to be calling my lawyer tomorrow morning but I believe she told me that it was sent to New Delhi (which makes no sense as my husband lives in Mumbai). I have to confirm this with her because it makes it seem that if it has been sent there then he will need to travel there for his interview.

I have a question I hope you can answer; when going for the police certificate does he need the letter I will get from the NVC or can he just go and request it? And will he request it from the police station itself?

I've heard that on the K3 visa it is permissable to drive on your foreign license up to a year before needing to get a local license. My DMV told me this only works for 'international' type licenses and that my husband's Indian license won't suffice and right away he'll need a local license. What is the truth here?
