CanadaRenewing passport for Canadian citizen holding a US Green Card

I'm moving your thread from Adjustment of Status from Work, Student to the Canada forum.

But the answer is yes, you can apply for it in person and have it couriered to a U.S. address: link

You may submit an application in person or have an application submitted on your behalf by an acceptable third party at a Passport Canada office in Canada. Please note that you must be 16 years of age or older in order to submit an application in person.

Passport delivery or pick-up

Regardless of the method and place of submission of the passport application, the passport is returned to the address of the applicant in the US by private courier service (overnight) from Passport Canada in Gatineau, Canada.

You also have the option of picking up the passport at a Passport Canada office in Canada. If you choose to pick up the passport in Canada, you must do so yourself. You cannot have a third party pick up your passport on your behalf.

Ahh ok, thanks very much! That makes it much easier for us then :)

Any idea if we should go to a service center, passport center or either?

Out of this list here:
http://www.ppt.gc.ca...=on&distance=25

we'd either go to the place on Ogilvie or Sparks St, are either OK? The post office charges $20 extra it says so forget that! lol

CanadaRenewing passport for Canadian citizen holding a US Green Card
I posted this in AOS but thought that maybe someone here might have gone through a similar experience and could help :)

My husband is a Canadian citizen and recently obtained his conditional US Green Card in January. He and I will be taking a trip back to his home country of Canada in late May. We are also planning on going on a cruise this September and want to have his passport renewed before then (it expires December 2010 so we'd like to get it renewed just in case they give us problems with the 6 month rule). Since he'll need his passport to go to Canada in May we can't send it out yet to renew it. My question is, can he still go in person while we're in Canada to renew his passport, even though he doesn't live there anymore? I figure since we're there we might as well get it renewed if possible! Will they mail his new passport to our address in the U.S. if we apply in person in Canada?

Thanks in advance!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionIs an Affidavit of Support needed for RoC?

You are very prudent, Rebecca. You are already thinking about the ROC as early as now. I should remind my husband to be ready for my ROC, too.

Hakuna matata.

God bless us all.

Yeah well I guess I will never stop researching the next steps until my hubby becomes a US citien

Nope. The paperwork signed for the AOS is carried over. :)

Ok, thanks for the info

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionIs an Affidavit of Support needed for RoC?
I am the USC and when we filed AOS I was the primary sponsor for my husband. When we file for RoC in 2011 will I need to prove again that I can still support him (it's ironic really since my husband's salary is 2x mine )? I'm not really planning on staying at my current job for that long and I'm not sure where life will take us by then i.e. having kids...

I didn't see this in the instructions for form I751 but you never know so I wanted to ask those who are already filing/have filed.

Thanks :star:

Now that I think about it, I actually feel silly  It does seem like its more than enough to prove that the marriage is real.

Alright thanks! Hmm..the address on the I-751 is our current address and we won't be here past September. That stinks that they don't update it on their side and send new mail to the new address, seems silly!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionChanging Address!
Hi there! Been a while since I posted on VJ :)

My hubby & I are moving at the end of September so I am starting of a list of places we need to change our address with, including USCIS. I have a few questions though...

-Which form do we use: AR-11 or AR-11SR, I see no difference and no instructions? :/ My husband has his conditional GC at the moment.
-Can we send the form in early BEFORE we move or should we wait to send it in after we move?
-Can we fill this out only online? I read that some people filled it out online and sent in a paper copy whilst others only filled it out online. If we just send a paper copy will this suffice?
-Since we still need to file to remove conditions in Oct 2011 will USCIS send all paperwork to the correct address (the place we're moving to) or our address where we originally filed for AOS (where we are now until September). I'd hate to lose any important paperwork. I plan to set up mail forwarding with the USPS but who knows how reliable that is!

Thanks!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionStay in US after divorce

You are very wicked person, probably not enough gormons in your body.
Why you care about my English? I am in US 14 years and my English just fine.
I am here on this web to get some answers, not to read who I am and how long I am here.
You are too young to be wicked.

I do wish you luck in your endeavors and process with your husband in ROC but a word of advice: attacking other VJ members won't get you very far. We are here to help and even if someone posts something you don't agree with, take the higher road and don't attack them back

I have done this once already but is there any way to know if USCIS received the notification?

I received a NOA stating that they received my change of address when I mailed in my I-865 recently. Keep that for your records! I submitted my hubby's change of address online and printed the confirmation page!

Hey everyone! I can't believe it's already the month we're going to be filing for removal of conditions! Our date to send in is October 16th. My hubby and I have almost all the papers together...we may still be adding personal photos to the packet. Did any of you send in photos from the two year period? I will post our full list of documents once we have it completely together :star: Good luck to all of us!

Has your case status changed online at the USCIS website? I know the timelines are slower than "usual" but if you are that concerned put in a call to the 1-800 number listed on your NOA and ask about it.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionWhat do you all think of my list of evidence?

Life insurance has nothing to do with having kids. If you house a spouse they should be your beneficiary in case something happens to you. Most companies I think offer some type of life insurance so I would look into it.

I wish my company offered something like that but they don't. I just mentioned kids because that's when I plan on getting life insurance of my own, when we have kids.

Ok, thanks! I haven't sent it in yet - should I take out the Netflix page? I don't think it will hurt but I guess it may just not help..

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionFinally Sending it

Okay So we are up to removing my husband's conditions which I know is cutting it pretty short as his card expires November 7th. I am overnighting the package and sending it today with the following:

1.) Rental lease for old apartment in 2009 and for the new apartment in 2010-2012
2.) Auto insurance listing both of us
3.) Medical and dental insurance listing him on family plan
4.) Joint tax returns for 2009,2010
5.) Bank account info: joint savings and copies of transfers between both of our checking accounts to each other. Not sure if I should be blacking out the full account number and just leaving the last four.
6.) Letter from my internship in 2010 regarding finances and current letter from employer.
7.) Last 3 pay stubs for both my husband and I
8.) Mail with both of our names
9.) School enrollment for my husband (not sure if they need this)
10.) Pictures of us together with my family, don't have a lot with my friends though :(
11.) Notarized letters from family acknowledging our marriage

Don't think I am leaving anything out, but any information and/or advice would be greatly appreciated. Oh and add me to the November filers list I guess since I probably won't get an NOA until the first or so.

School enrollment is not necessary - just send information proving that you still have a bona fide marriage. What about any joint credit card accounts, health insurance, policies with both your names (auto insurance, rental insurance)? Also, I didn't blank out any information on any of our forms. USCIS will have your social security number so if they really wanted to do something dirty, they could. If you blank something out they may send an RFE if they're feeling picky. Best of luck!

That letter is your proof that your permanent resident status is legally extended for one year so you definitely need it. Have you tried calling yet to ask why you didn't get one or if you can get a reissued letter? Or make an infopass appointment since your husband needs it to travel.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionNOA 1 vs Biometrics Letter
Gemini,

Can you, please, tell me what day in February you submitted the package? Also, you mention you spoke with USCIS today. Did you get the information from the automated system entering the case number on the biometrics appt letter? That would make sense considering they are closed today and you did not receive your NOA1 yet. Thanks!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionBIOMETRICS SCHEDULE BEFORE NOA.
QUOTE (esrous @ Mar 16 2008, 06:09 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello everyone,

I used to visit this website when I was applying for my 2 yr greencard; reading and replying threads. After I got my greencard and offered a job, after 6 months of waiting, that kinda stopped me from getting involved on the VJ circle.

Well, I'm back again and hope you all can help me with my querries.

Firstly, I recieved a biometrics appointment notice today and just wondering why it came ahead of NOA. I supposed everyone here gets thier NOA first then the biometrics appointment week or so afterwards. Is there someone here recieved thier biometrics appointment before the NOA? Is NOA contained the extension letter or just a notice informing you that they recieved your application? I was checking to some member's timeline but apprently they didn't include the receipt of extension letter.

Secondly, I checked my case status online and it said that my case was transferred to Vermont. What the heck? I hope I don't have to wait forever for the approval.

Anyway, I hope you guys can clarify me with the the above inquiry.

Thank ya'll

RL

SAme thing happens to me. they cashed my check on feb 13th, i received a letter NOA1 the same week saying that i would get an appointment letter for EAD biometrics, but nothing yet... Also, they didn't mention AOS at all... i'm worried a little too.

Magandy, it looks like you are waiting for the conditional Green Card, I am waiting to get the permanent residence. The whole process is not a whole different. indeed.

I managed to make an appointment with an infopass for next week. I hope to be able to get some clues about the delay.

I still hope somebody can advise about how I can get to an agent on the phone. blink.gif

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionShould we worry?
Thank you for replying. good.gif good.gif I need some more help from you.

First, how in the world can you get to a live person when calling the USCIS customer service phone number? The only options that I got were return to the main menu or hang up.

Second, for the infopass there seem to be for 4 kinds of appointments. None of them apply to my situation. Also, what center should I choose? The one closest to the physical address that I entered in the I751 or the one closest to the mailing address? We are talking about two cities 300 miles apart (same state).

Third, does the 1 year extension in NOA1 refers to the date on the conditional Green Card or the date of the NOA1?

Fourth, can one apply for citizenship during the removal of conditional residency?

Thanks a bunch! heart.gif

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionShould we worry?
helpsmilie.gif

We received our NOA1 on January, 23rd. Nothing since then. Our AOS office is Philadelphia and I've noticed in the forum statistics that there are aproximately 55 days between NOA and biometrics. It's not 55 days yet but, from what I have read, the appointment notice arrives about a month before. I am concerned because we chose two addresses on the I751, address and mailing address.

Also, supposing that whole processs is delayed for another year, can the I-551 stamp be applied in my passport even if it is expired?

Thanks for your time and thoughts! rose.gif

I wonder what happens with the appointment notices that are lost in mail and never arrive to destination. Are those applicants, that have been waiting for months, automatically disqualified? Are they being notified? Given any right to clarify things?
