Alright guys, I need your honest opinion. Got home today and still no Biometrics appointment letter. At what point should I be really worried? I don't mind waiting, but my concern is that the letter got lost in the mail and we miss our appointment and then get into all sorts of problems. We don't live in a big city so there is not even an office nearby to make an Infopass appt.

Do you think I should go ahead and call or just wait another week or so? If so, who do I call?

I totally understand your concern but it seems that VSC is slow in handing out bio appointment letters as only 2 have received them so far. I would wait until the beginning of next week which would bring you to a month since filed and then call the contact number listed on your NOA

Hey Becca,

Do you happen to know off hand what are the things to bring for an early bio?
Since my sched is quite a hot mess, I kinda want to have everything ready as soon as I get the bio letter appointment, I would like to go rush in to the local office and do my biometrics.


I believe all you need is your NOA2 with your biometrics appointment on it, as well as picture ID. We haven't done our bio yet for ROC but if I'm remembering correctly, that's all Phil needed for the bio during AOS :)

Our NOA was in the mail today! It says it's extending the conditional for a year. Is this just to allow for the time to get the process completed?

Also, has anyone moved in the middle of this process? We are re-locating from CA to ID when the home sells and I'm hoping it won't be in the middle of all of this!!!

Congrats!! Yes it's just an extension, doesn't mean it will take the full year to process. Let's hope VSC & CSC are quicker than that! :blush: If you do move, just make sure you fill out the AR-11 to inform USCIS of your new address

Great news! We were pleasantly surprised to discover our NOA2 biometrics appointment form in our mailbox today. I updated our record and corrected font and capitalization errors. Thanks to everybody!

That's correct, they've accepted your application now if they find it short on evidence or something you'll get an RFE but you're filed and in line so to speak.

I just checked our bank account - they cashed our check today! Never thought I'd be so happy to say goodbye to $590 :lol:

Just wondering...since they cashed our check, that means they won't be sending our application back for reasons like if we forgot to sign it (even though I know we both signed it) or insufficient completion of application, etc, right? If they were straight up rejecting an application and asking for a resubmission would they cash the check anyway and then just ask for another $590? Just one more thing to ease my mind a little bit if I knew they weren't sending our application back for some reason. I know either way it doesn't mean we won't get an RFE at any point. Hope my question makes sense.

We did a walk-in bio today at the Santa Ana ASC. The room was already crowded with 30 or 40 people already waiting to be called. The man at the door looked at the appointment letter and asked to see my wife's ID. He gave her a clipboard with a form to fill out and asked her to take a seat. He said I couldn't wait in the room, unless I was needed to help fill out the form :whistle: . He was very nice, but pointed out that once the form was filled out I'd have to wait outside. The wait was about 40 minutes. My wife said everyone was very friendly. After the fingerprints and picture, she was asked to fill out a customer satification survey.

Maybe the DMV should give this approach a try?

So frustrating being on vacation and not having access to my mail! I do know that they cashed the check so I have a feeling the NOA1 and bio appt are at the post office waiting for me. Let's just hope we don't miss the appt. We'll be back next Saturday. :yes:

I don't understand STARCOOKIE's timeline.. "STARCOOKIE...........10/12/11........10/13/11" (??)
How can they have such quick NOA1? It must have been the date when the packet arrived @ VSC due to the fact that they used a Fedex or alike.
I just don't want others to think or get confused. Cos I am one.

Can somebody shed some light on STARCOOKIE's Status?. Thanks!

Date of 751 is the date it's mailed so the package must've been sent overnight on 10/12 to then arrive at VSC 10/13. The VSC must've been having a good day and issued their NOA1 the day it was received, 10/13! The NOA1 date is the date the USCIS issues the paper, not the date the individual receives the NOA1 in the mail. Does that make more sense?

Definitely the USC here. My hubby wonders why I spend so much time on VJ lol


I think we'll all be having those worries until we receive the NOA/Bio/Interview/Approval/etc...but we'll have to just stick together! Thank God for VJ, otherwise I'd be a worrywart all on my own ;) I just checked my bank account again..check not cashed yet!

We embarked on the I-751 "removal of conditions" journey earlier this month via Vermont.

Here is our current status:

10/11/2011 - Mailed I-751 package (USPS Priority Mail with electronic return receipt)
10/13/2011 - VSC signed for package
10/18/2011 - Check cashed

We included the following supporting documentation with our I-751:

Signed cover letter
Three original sworn statements written by U.S. citizen friends and co-workers
List of addresses (2) since immigrating to the United States
Copies of jointly-filed federal and state tax forms
Copy of lease for rental house
Copy of promissory note, in both names, for renovation loan for primary residence
Copy of HUD-1 settlement statement, in both names, for mortgage financing of primary residence
Copy of warranty deed, in both names, for primary residence
Copy of mortgage company statement, in both names, for primary residence
Proof of fire insurance on primary residence in both names
Copy of car title in both names
Proof of auto insurance listing in both names
Copies of health insurance cards
Copy of notarized form specifying spouse as 401K beneficiary
Joint checking account bank statements from February 2010 and September 2011
Joint savings account bank statement from January 2010

I was tracking mine too and it was saying it was still in the postal office I sent it from on the day it was supposed to be delivered and the status only changed in the afternoon when the package is already delivered. I guess, they don't update the status until the package reaches the destination. :)

Mine cost less than $5 - I didn't overnight it but did send it certified. I was able to check online that it was only took 2 days to get there (from VA to VT). In my opinion, overnight isn't worth it.


Yeah that's what I did for the AOS and it cost $11. I'm planning on doing the same this time around. I know that some people's peace of mind serves better with overnight service though so no judgment! To each his/her own :star:

I just got the last piece of my evidence today in the mail, yahooo! My packet is also officially complete and I'll be mailing tomorrow after work. =) Or during lunch if I can't wait any longer. The funny thing is as I was paying the last of my bills before we leave for our big trip (going to India for two weeks on Friday),I stumbled across another piece of evidence that I didn't know I had. Forgot hubby was also on our car loan bill so I made a copy of that one too.

Sent out our ROC packet today - It cost $28 for overnight shipping, that's how heavy it was! :/
16 days until my 2 year Green Card expires. Naturally our home just got severely flooded last month and new health insurance just started so I'd wanted to include that in the packet. Hope we didn't leave it too late but really didn't have a choice with all that's going on with our home :(

Yeah, it does! I think pictures are considered secondary evidence so I'm sure they put more weight on the other documents we're sending in. But, at the very least, maybe it'll give them something more fun to look at than our boring documents which will put them in a good mood and they'll approve us! :rofl: :D

With our ROC package, I sent 12 pictures - none from wedding/honeymoon, but a couple with family at various occasions, trips we had taken, one on the plane together to go visit his family. I hope everything is accepted!


Yeah we didn't send any wedding ones either as we brought our entire wedding album with us to our AOS interview. He did look through it though so I didn't feel like the hours I put into getting it together was wasted! :blush:

I have five or 6 category's of pics. 3 from wedding, 5 or so from honeymoon, 5 or so from each of the three trips we have taken, 5 or so from our housewarming party and 5 misc pics (Easter, anniversary dinner, etc). I wasn't sure if I should label them but I did that this morning anyways to play it safe. Some dates are unknown so I just put the year, some are month and year and some are actual date and who is with us in the pics. Just remember that pics are not considered primary evidence so I doubt it will matter if there is 5 or 30. I just like to be over prepared. :whistle:


That's great though. I did send more pics with our AOS application and wasn't sure how much it helped. I think I'll just stick with the 6 I have. If they want more, I'll send them! :thumbs:

I have small question. My driving licence expires on Jan. 09 as My Permanent resident card also expires on same day. So I was wondering will I have a new permanent resident card by then? if not how will I be able to renew my licence?


I doubt you'll have your 10 year GC by then as it looks like most applications are taking 5-6 months but you should be able to take your expired GC along with your NOA1 which extends your legal status for a year in the US. That should suffice for you to get a new driver's license. If they give you trouble, as I've read in another thread, ask to speak to a manager or visit a different DMV location. The DMV workers may not be familiar with the NOA1 providing legal and sufficient evidence that you're status is extended but it is valid.

Same here, about 95% done! Just waiting on one thing and need to put the finishing touches. My file is getting thick now.
