Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionhighlights

Hi, do you think it's necessary to highlight both names on the bank statement, bills, etc. that have both our names on them? Or it appears to be too obvious?

I highlighted everything I thought necessary on all our sheets of papers proving joint ownership/marriage.

so does everyone have to do interview after biometrics? or will they tell me if i am approved on that date and just wait for 10 year card in mail or do I live on the edge for months until they decide
this is so stressful,

It's not guarantee you'll be called in for an interview and most cases are approved without one. You won't find out at the biometrics whether or not you're approved. You have to wait for the office you filed with to make that decision. Unfortunately it is a waiting game and a frustrating one at that. I'm nearing 9 months since filing and no approval yet...

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionTravel after GC expired

Hey guys, long time lurker, first time poster.

Wifey and I applied for removal of her conditional status. (June Filers) Her green card recently expired, and we received the 1 year extension letter.

Question... she wants to visit her family in Russia this summer, but is concerned about being able to come back, or having issues since her GC is expired, and we only have the 1 year extension letter. Her biometrics appointment is in August, so who knows how long it will take to get her permanent GC.

thanks!

You can travel with your passport, expired Green Card and original extension letter.

You're now on it ;)

And to the OP: I agree with others you do not need a lawyer for ROC unless your case is a complicated one. Check out the guide on this site: http://www.visajourn...ontent/751guide and it'll walk you through it!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 June 2011 Filers

We had an interview almost two weeks ago and the officer told us we were approved. But so far, i have not received any emails, or letters in the mail confirming the approval.. I was wondering if this is normal? I was expecting to at least receive an email confirming it.... but nothing.... After waiting 10 months at CSC and then two SR and then an interview, i can't help but not feel positive without a written confirmation in hand. Hope i hear something soon.. :(

I think USCIS gets pleasure out of torturing us...it's almost a YEAR for June filers, this is asinine!! :protest:

I have a feeling something is going to happen this month... fingers crossed.

This is JDBY.

Finally, finally my GC arrived in the mail on saturday 5/5/12. I can't believe it has taken over 5 years to get to this point and now it is finally over. Not quite sure when i will go for citizenship, I need a rest from the uscis for a while, but i do need to have this whole immigration process done and dusted forever. So just one more process to go through.
I would like to thank all on here for the help and great advice.
For all those still waiting I wish you the best of luck.

Can someone please update the list for me

A fun little story. . . I arrived home today, 4/20 at precisely 4:20 and found the green card waiting in the mailbox. It does have a working tracking number, so as soon as USCIS indicates it has shipped, one can call them to get the tracking number. . . now get this, the first three digits of the tracking number are... 420. Synchronicity, huh?

Wow that is irony! Congrats though!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 October 2011 Filers

Hi Guys, have been reading this topic fort he past year, have never commented but was curious to see the timelines.
I have sent out my package end of November, had my fingerprints done on the 5th of January and waited and waited just like you all and on September 5th I received the dreaded RFE (more financial prove, since we have no accounts together). 2 days later found out that my father was hospitalized with lung cancer, flew home without having time to respond to the RFE, 1 week later my father passed away. So with all of the craziness finally on October 8th they received my response (explaining that my husband has bad credit history and we did not to make mine bad too, also included this year's tax returns, plus new lease agreement). Yesterday received a letter with first word Congratulations! What a relief after all that I have been through lately... Hang in there and it will come. Congratulations to everyone approved and to all other I hope you get good news soon!

I'm very sorry to hear about your father. Congratulations on the approval, it is quite a process!

Just checking in to see if AngelinaBlack got your approval yet?

Hope you are all safe through Hurricane Sandy. I live in NY and we got hit pretty hard here. People are still without power and many businesses are still closed. NYC got hit much worse but thankfully all my family and friends are safe that live around here!

I sent a message to SHANNON?NICK, they had an RFE a few weeks ago, and are waiting to hear back. I guess I am the only one left not hearing anything at all?

They have at least updated the processing times on the USCIS website, and it says they are processing October 24th.

* sigh*

Oh you definitely have a reason to call now! I'm sorry it's taking so long...that is so frustrating :( Did they mention when the RFE was? I'll update the list.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 October 2011 Filers

I'd love to call them, but as the website says they are working on September, I am not really out of processing time yet. Doubt they would do a thing about it. Not helped by all the bits of paper I would need to make the call are back at home, and I am still in TN with my husband. He is out of the hospital, and stays here at the Lodge, only going in a few times a week for lab work. I still have no idea when they will cut us loose.

I'm sorry things are still rough with your husband, I hope they improve quickly! I know their website says they haven't gotten to October yet, but we know they have so maybe it's worth a call anyway? You might get lucky and speak with someone who move along your process and wouldn't that be great? :)

Any news from those who had received RFEs?

Just heard from a friend of mine. She filed December 4th, and she just got her ten year card. Also with VCS.

Starting to wonder....have they overlooked me?

You know, I was wondering what happened to your approval... You and Shannon&Nick are the last to be approved without hearing anything else (everyone else has a pending RFE, FALOAK is waiting on fingerprints and Mrs. Palmer hasn't signed in in almost a year...)
Maybe it's time to put in that call and ask to speak with a level 2 officer? Tell them people who filed in Dec are getting approved and ask about your application. It's sitting in some pile somewhere there..they just need to look through and stamp APPROVED on it!

Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)MOVING COMPANIES

Hello,

does anybody know about moving companies from germany to the US? Door to door ... and how long would a container take?
What were the experiences in your case?
What am I allowed to take and is it true that the container isnt supposed to arrive ahead of me?

I appreciate any information on this topic
.

Thank you in advance

I don't think this is a ROC question but I'll try to help anyway. I'm a bit confused though, your company is transferring you from Germany to the US? Are you wondering what kind of visa you'll need? If your company is the one doing the transfer, my guess is you'll be granted a work visa sponsored through your work. As far as the container, I don't know what you mean. A package? Your belongings being moved from Germany to the US? Give us more details and we might be able to help...

CanadaRenewing passport for Canadian citizen holding a US Green Card

They will keep his old passport, but like Kathryn said...they'll take copies of his id used to prove identity from what I understand. They obviously cannot keep his GC since he'll need it to get back into the US :)

Since I'm doing the very same thing shortly.....does anyone think it will be a problem to NOT have my passport when I return to the US...only a few days after I renew the passport? It will be in process obviously and I won;t have the new one back

We will bring all the documents suggested in this thread, just in case! :)

Yeah I thought the laws now say that everyone needs a passport to go in and out of the US, even by land. We are driving there so I was under the impression he'll need a valid passport (along with his GC) to re-enter the US? If they cut a corner of his current passport will they let him back into the US with that (in case the new one isn't ready by the time we leave)?

CanadaRenewing passport for Canadian citizen holding a US Green Card
Wow thanks for the great replies everyone! My husband is from Ottawa Canada and we'd probably go to the Passport Canada at this location:
240 Sparks Street, Level C, East Tower
Ottawa ON

Reading through the replies reminded me that we'd better make sure they don't take his passport or else we might have trouble getting back into the US  Can't believe I hadn't thought of that one!

Is it a guarantee that they won't take your documents if you apply in person? I suppose if they say they need to keep anything we can always change our minds and mail in the application once we return to the US. We're only going to be in Canada for less than 1 week in May so we probably won't have time to wait and pick it up while we're there, eh?

Oh yeah and in case it matters, my husband is eligible to apply for the simplified renewal application and all it says to mail in with that is the application, fee, photos, and old passport. Does this mean he shouldn't need all the identification you brought Ant+D+BabyA? We can always bring it along just in case though..

Either way, as long as he has the new passport by our cruise in September then we are golden!

CanadaRenewing passport for Canadian citizen holding a US Green Card

I'm moving your thread from Adjustment of Status from Work, Student to the Canada forum.

But the answer is yes, you can apply for it in person and have it couriered to a U.S. address: link

You may submit an application in person or have an application submitted on your behalf by an acceptable third party at a Passport Canada office in Canada. Please note that you must be 16 years of age or older in order to submit an application in person.

Passport delivery or pick-up

Regardless of the method and place of submission of the passport application, the passport is returned to the address of the applicant in the US by private courier service (overnight) from Passport Canada in Gatineau, Canada.

You also have the option of picking up the passport at a Passport Canada office in Canada. If you choose to pick up the passport in Canada, you must do so yourself. You cannot have a third party pick up your passport on your behalf.

Ahh ok, thanks very much! That makes it much easier for us then :)

Any idea if we should go to a service center, passport center or either?

Out of this list here:
http://www.ppt.gc.ca...=on&distance=25

we'd either go to the place on Ogilvie or Sparks St, are either OK? The post office charges $20 extra it says so forget that! lol
