Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion	I-751 October 2011 Filers	Good here. Our new baby is fine and I'm basically half done with a graduate degree. Can definitely relate to being burned out on a job. Just hit 5 years with my current employer... Glad to hear! I'm been going back and forth on whether or not I want to pursue my grad degree. Not sure what I want to study so that'd be step one I'm in social work now and even though I've only been doing it a little less than 3 years, I feel like I've been here forever. I'm ready to explore a different industry, or at least a different population! The job market here, in small town USA, is pretty terrible. They closed a big plant down last summer, and that added a couple of hundred more people looking to find work. I've got a pretty peculiar to one job sort of skill set. All of the similar employers here won't look at you without citizenship. I've got no idea why, in NZ I did the same work and I sure wasn't a citizen there either. I've even got a USA qualification, which has been no help at all. Yeah it's terrible when that happens..nothing to do but keep looking while you sit on unemployment. Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion	I-751 October 2011 Filers	My biometrics appointment went really well. I left home about 0730 then got to Metaire,LA after 3 hrs. I came up to the building around 1030 for my 1100 schedule. There was little to no people yet. I was surprised with the speed of my biometrics appointment. When I came up to the reception window, they asked me to fill out this white form with some of the pertinent information. After I turned it in, I have waited about 5 minutes then they called my name. A very polite lady took my fingerprinting, picture, and signature. I was out of that building, literally after 12 minutes.. (well, let's make it 15 including the bathroom time. ) 6 hrs drive was not bad. Went to downtown New Orleans and eat some good ole Louisiana food! The real waiting game sits in. Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion	I-751 October 2011 Filers	I signed up, but I don't have a lot of faith in it. Our first petition, the K1, was never touched. It still shows that they got it, and sent NOA1 and that is all. The second time for AOS showed a touch when they sent it to CSC, but nothing after that, although the AP and EAD did show 1 more each. This time we show the petition arriving the 27th and nothing since. I don't know if my last fingerprints were accepted yet or not. They were pretty quick to send out the second appointment, only 1 week, but this time I haven't heard a thing. I wonder if they send an RFE for that, or do you just get some sort of letter. Back to my corner, patiently waiting. Ya right. Yeah our I-130 still says "Initial Review" from 2009 They're not great on the whole keeping-things-up-to-date front. Just curious to know. Thanks a lot . It doesn't cost anything more than what your carrier charges for text messages. If you have an unlimited plan, it'd be free! I was wondering the same thing, but when we went to the DMV they put my husband's expiry date on his DL as one year from the letter, not the GC, which stinks because we will have to make that sure that doesn't expire! Either way, I'm not sure the lady knew 100% or if she just assumed it went by the date of the letter. Hmm, that is interesting! Oddly, Phil's DL doesn't expire until 2013... I am traveling overseas this weekend, and this whole extension letter, and expired GC has been playing havoc with my thoughts! And finally, I gave in yesterday, decided I really didn't have much to lose - made an infopass appointment for today. The USCIS lady was extremely helpful, and when I stated my case, and said, I was worried about the departure airports - she herself offered to stamp my passport with the i-551 stamp! Phew, it was worth the long drive, and some additional peace of mind. So, if you have excessive time on hand, and are obsessive as I am - it might be worth a try! HOWEVER, I have heard only a few offices are this nice and provide these stamps - I was at the Raleigh-Durham field office which had just one free infopass appointment for today! But I do intend to keep my expired GC, and extension letter close to me while traveling! Hope this helps anyone out here ... Thanks! Well if it gave you peace of mind then that's great Happy travels! Nothing so far in the post about the last set of fingerprints. They only took 7 days last time to send me a second letter, so I am not sure if I am out of the woods, or if they are still going to send me a demand for clearances. One good thing, my husband was so annoyed about getting that speeding ticket, for 5 miles over the limit, he went to court today. He entered a plea of no contest. The judge asked to hear his story. He told him we were on our way to TN to get fingerprints taken, and why. He asked to see the appointment letter. Good thing I had it on me. This bit proved useful: PLEASE APPEAR AT THE BELOW APPLICATION SUPPORT CENTER AT THE DATE AND TIME SPECIFIED. IF YOU FAIL TO APPEAR AS SCHEDULED, YOUR APPLICATION WILL BE CONSIDERED ABANDONED. I am tired of seeing the only update on my case status, as Initial Process since the NOA I do have a silly question (but someone wise once said, there's nothing like a silly question, so I will go ahead.. ) .... Our 1 year extension is that as per our GC expiry date, or NOA date? I actually have the same question! My guess was, from how it was worded in the NOA1, that it's extended from the conditional GC expiration date. Either way I'm hoping we're not still waiting in either October or January! My ASC was full when i got there in the morning and i was told to come back on my appointed time. I was kinda surprised coz during my AOS I was the only customer there and they took me in before my appointed time. I was hoping it will be the same this time but alas no. Anyway i'm glad this biometrics is over and done with now. I've a question for those VSC filers who had their biometrics already. Did you guys get an update/touch after your biometrics? I checked mine and no update after my bio. just wondering... Phil never got a touch after the biometrics and still hasn't since our NOA was issued in October... You never know, timing could always swing back the other direction. Either way, we'll probably apply for citizenship in September. One can only hope! My friend from New Orleans, who happens to be the same ASC with me hasn't gotten her Green Card yet that's already good 8 months since filing date.. After my Biometrics this 24th, I'm gonna kick back and relax and of course just wait till I'm out with barbeque and beer. Yeah CSC filers may see some updates/approvals next month but I'm afraid us VSC filers will not be so lucky I'm trying not to expect anything until at least May, based on past threads. Your username looks familiar, I think I've seen you around! ;D The letter took about a week to come last time to say I was having to do them over. I would guess the end of this week I'll get another, with a request for clearances. Hope it comes soon so you can get the show on the road! Thank you Corinthians... but this is even more perplexing - of course I would be traveling with the original letter, and expired GC. But can anyone confirm - don't you receive the i-551 stamp only after your ROC application has approved???? I think that's my main question. And, how can I get an i-551 when my case is till under processing??... as they say only emergency situations get this stamp.. Edit - just happened to read this post about travel which calms me! I am worried more about the airline refusing to allow me to board than the immigration officer, is that crazy?! I believe you only get the stamp if your case is still processing even after your NOA1 letter expires...or if you have to travel after your GC approval but before receiving it in hand. Same content as the one i got on December 27th. I don't know what's with VSC sending me multiple letters of the same NOA and Bio appt. Anyway, hope everyone on this list, esp. VSC got their bio dates by now. I can't wait to get my bio done on wednesday so I can chill out a bit from this process. Have a great week ahead y'all. Yeah I've read of others getting multiple letters in other threads as well. It must be an automated thing so maybe a glitch with the computer? USCIS will always be a mystery! Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion	I-751 October 2011 Filers	The saga continues.... We were up early and out the door, back to Memphis TN for more fingerprints. The machine once again failed to capture a decent set, no matter what she tried 3 of them kept showing rejected. I will doubtless end up having to produce a police clearance for every place I've lived in the last few years. From what I've been able to search out here, we also get an interview as an added bonus prize. To add insult to injury, the west bound lanes of the highway are closed for roadwork, and we were rerouted back through downtown Memphis, and West Memphis, pretty shady looking area really. There were 2 signs, Detour, and Detour Ended, the rest of the time we were wondering if we were even on the right road, and it added 45 minutes to the trip back. And in case we hadn't already had enough fun for the day, we got pulled over for speeding. There is a little hole in the wall town that has a lowered speed limit for 500 yards. We were going 40 in a 35. The charming cop says as it is the holiday season they have a zero tolerance policy. $130 thank you very much. Ugh, how terribly frustrating! Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion	I-751 October 2011 Filers	I called them today and they told me that they still dont see that they have sent the bio letter, nor set a date for it. They also mentioned that my ASC are busy with so many applications... I was like, really?I hardly see any other races in Louisiana, nor there are a lot of Filipinos like California. So naturally, they gave me the direct email of VSC to follow up my case.. I am so tired of their BS. Grr that's annoying, I'm sorry Wow...you would think they would do more for you than give you an email to follow up on your own. I'm going back to TN this week, for another attempt to do biometrics. So another long road trip, but of course it isn't like I have a spare set of fingers I can trade the ones I am using for. My prints are what they are. You would think it might dawn on someone that I couldn't have got as far as I have without being screened quite a lot along the way. Any suggestions on what I should ask them? Hmm I wonder if your original bio letter got lost in the mail like STARCOOKIE's did.. ? Definitely call them because you are well past the 30 day mark. Just tell them the date you received your NOA and that you haven't received any biometrics appointment yet. So Biometrics done and all how long before we hear again from USCIS? I was kinda worried thinking that my file is lost coz of that glitch we had with 6 receipt letters. Now i'll just have to prepare for the long drive out of state. Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion	I-751 October 2011 Filers	I'm so tired of USCIS being in our lives I've told Anna either she files for naturalization next year or I file for divorce next year. I love her but having gone through the I-130 process & stress twice now and sitting here in the ROC stage just makes me want to never have to deal with it again. My guess is she'll file her N-400! Fabulous. Not. Letter in the mail today from USCIS. "The FBI was unable to process your fingerprint card. In order for the US Citizenship and Immigration Services to continue processing your application, it will be necessary to have your fingerprints retaken. " Another seven hour road trip. January 5th. Ack! I'm so sorry That stinks. I read in another thread that if biometrics fail twice, they require clearances from states you've lived in over a certain period of time (not positive on the time period). I hope they work this time! Hi all, Yeah I was that one person still waiting for a Biometrics date from CSC...we finally got it today, and guess what...it's set for when we'll be out of town! Oh no!!!!! I was worried this would happen. I have to ask for your advice....has anyone tried the whole "re-scheduling" instructions on the Biometrics letter? Is it an easy process, or will it delay our whole processing greatly? Do you think it's worth it to do, or more advisable to bite the $500+ fee we'll get for changing our flights? I'd really prefer to save the $500, but don't want to throw our Lifting of Conditions process in jeopardy. Any advice? Thanks everyone! Glad you got your bio appointment! Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion	I-751 October 2011 Filers	No new updates to the timeline but I'm re-posting it since I don't want it to get lost in the pages Yeah a 10 year break will be quite nice! Phil is not sure if he'll apply for citizenship yet or not. He doesn't want to renounce his Canadian citizenship and I can't blame him for that. I don't mind either way, every 10 years with USCIS isn't so bad. And even if we forget to apply for renewal, there's no worries that he'll be deported so that's good. So it looks like there's 1 person waiting for a bio from the CSC (although they haven't logged in in quite a while so maybe they did get it and just didn't update with us), and 5 more from VSC. Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion	I-751 October 2011 Filers	Thank you, but if I'm being honest it gets better, I must confess..lol...I had all my papers in a brown leather folder, which I managed to leave behind, once she was done trying to fingerprint me. I was ten miles up the road before I noticed I didn't have it, and had to turn around to go back for it. Getting off an on the Interstate again was a bit of a mission. They were kind enough to let me back in, and it was lying on the counter, where you sign in, right where I had left it. I'm very lucky nobody picked it up and made off with it. Some days I wonder where my brain is. I needed an extra 20 miles in the pouring rain added to my adventure. I think that's the lot I'm glad it was still there too! It's supposed to be 2 1/2 to 3 hours depending on the roads and the weather. Heavy rain, 3 inches + is forecast, and local flooding. They told me that my local USCIS office's appointment setting is backed up so of course we are at the end of the tail. All I can hope now is for these people to get there @~$! together and give us show us some progress. Ughh that's so frustrating..on the positive side, at least now you have an answer for the wait and know your letter will come as soon as they have an opening! Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion	I-751 October 2011 Filers	I am an October filer, too at VSC. I want to share my experience of traveling with expired GC and extension letter. I did once from Tokyo to Detroit in Jan, no problem either at Tokyo airport nor Detroit airport. However, this time I almost ran into trouble at Beijing airport. The customer officer could not recognize the extension letter, and said it's just a receipt. I almost got denied to leave Chinese custom. Managed through with help from Delta (on business travel). I would not recommend anyone who travel to China with extension letter. I will update my arrival at Seattle if anyone is interested. Thanks for sharing!
