K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	July '08 filers	Enjoy your time with your fiancé Corinthians This morning I passed my driving test YAY ! I looked on the permit and the date of expiration is august 16th like my I-94. So I asked what I will have to do after this date and they told me to comeback with my california driving license, and a proof of status (EAD or GC) and the will re-send me a new one, I will maybe just have to have a new picture done, that is it. I wanted to do the E-verify thing but apparently your employer has to do it after to hire you which is weird and stupid in my opinion. So, I took the decision to wait until my EAD, I don't want to take risks. If you can you should get an infopass, maybe you can meet a good and informed officer. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	July '08 filers	Hey guys ! It seems too good to be true. So tomorrow morning I will ask my employer to do the E-verify thing on uscis.com. If it says "not authorize to work" I will print the page, ask an infopass again and say to the immigration that it is unacceptable to come to the USCIS in LA and to get wrong information which can be a very big deal for our future in the USA. I don't really know about the driving license, I went to the DMV, I said that my international license will be expired at the end of may and that I wanted to get the California one. She asked me my passport and SS number. She looked at my I-94 and K1 visa. At the beginning she said "I need your Green Card". And I said that I'm pending for the AOS and that if I had to wait for my GC to get the exam it would be bad cuz' it could take a year. She took my documents and asked to different person and she came back saying that it was ok. I was not really ready to take the test but she filed the application and say "go to the window number 14 and then they gave me the 36 questions and I passed ! I don't think that it is valid til the end of the I-94, I think that it will be permanent. Corinthians, the job is in my husband company. It is a sound band touring company. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	July '08 filers	Hey guys ! I passed the written test for my driving license this morning YAY ! The driving test is after tomorrow !!! I also went to my infopass appointment today cuz I had questions about working authorization. This is what happened : The woman checked my passport and my status on her computer. She then asked me what I wanted. I asked "I applied for my AOS, EAD, AP at the beginning of May. I got an offer for a job and I would like to know if I can accept the job before to receive my EAD because I have the work authorized stamp on my I-94." She asked me if I got the Notice of action for my AOS and EAD. I said yes and gave them to her with my biometrics appointment letter. She said : "Even if you didn't have the stamp on your I-94 you can work. We the immigration don't require a EAD while a green card is pending, it is up to your employer to accept to hire you even if you don't have a green card or an EAD yet. As a pending applicant for your GC you are totally allowed to work." I asked her again, showing the list of the documents accepted as work authorization> She said "I am positive, if you can find an employer who is ok to hire you without a GC or EAD this is not a problem for the USCIS, you are legal here in the USA and allowed to work, once again, the EAD for somebody pending on the AOS is not a requirement for the USCIS it is a requirement for the employer"	Ju&Ja	Female	France	2009-05-20 20:03:00

Well well well......what a differnce 24 hours makes. she received a call on thursday (the next day after the second interview) from the counsualte and they told her to pick up her VISA TODAY!! I had to go to the office today and i wanted to leave early so i could be home to talk to her on the web cam, becasue i wanted to SEE the visa. But i had a stupid department meeting. When i got home i had her show me the visa and it finally hit me ......WE DID IT!! i did not want to post anything here until she had it in her hand. I hope you all understand my abstance........right?? Forgive me?? So it's time to say goodbye to all my visa filling, noa2 waiting, stress filled, daily crying, heart aching, couch sittin, july08 filers. But...........i gotta go! My husband's boss wants also to hire me for a part time job, I think that I will say yes cuz' even if the job is not very sexy by itself it is the best way for me to go back to France when I want (I told him that I want a month off every 4 months). My doctor in France and the girl at the embassy in Paris told me the same thing : You won't have to do medical in the US because you just did everything that they need. You just have to know that USCIS lose a lot of medical files, so be sure to have all your medical document (Chest Xray + Syphillis results + AIDS results + vaccins record) so you can get a new medical (I think the I-693) in case of. So I think that as K1 holder we are not supposed to do the I-693 cuz' they have it in our medical folder, the one we carried in the brown envelope. Us July filers are likely the first people to suffer from the new requirements they set forth, so even though we've only seen a few RFE's for not having it, it seems like we'll be seeing more. I'll let you know how I get on with Dr. Arnold- $30 isn't bad at all for peace of mind and not risking delays! We gave up and mailed everything but the I-693 this evening. We just want to get the EAD asap. We sent in the DS vaccination form from the UK medical in place of the I-693 but we'll be mailing the I-693 separately. What did you do about tuberculosis stuff, Juliette? I did the chest xray in France as the embassy required for tuberculosis. They tried arguing with us that we had to do the full medical exam, even though we showed them the I-693 instructions and specially highlighted the K-1 visa portion. We contested and asked why they'd refuse to operate the way USCIS mandates they do, and the physician said, "We do things our way around here. Go elsewhere." and walked away. We were like, "It's fine. We'll just pay the extra fees and get this over with" but they refused to see us. Needless to say, we're both furious and reported him to the USCIS. I highly recommend you guys start reporting these physicians who are refusing to do I-863 the way the government mandates. I think if enough of us started making calls, we'd see more action on this front. Anyhow, question for those of you who used Dr. Arnold. Did you have a TB test done? Was it done by a different civil surgeon or just another physician? Did Dr. Arnold transcribe the TB test results, or did you just send in a copy that another physician completed with your AOS forms? We're not sure how TB fits into this. I thought AOS was supposed to be easy, but it's quickly turned into a nightmare for us. I'm a full time student and absolutely cannot take a day off of class to drive 3 hours away to try our luck with the other nearest civil surgeons. We're considering mailing off our application without the I-863 (just using the DS form he got in London) and mailing the I-863 later on once we get it back from Dr. Arnold. Does this sound reasonable? Sorry for the rant...I'm still shaking with anger. Well I kinda gave up on the I-693. I will send a copy of my vaccins form, the one my french doctor gave me. I know all of us London embassy people went to the same place and likely have the same form. Sebastian and I went into the civil surgeon's yesterday and even though it says "Series completed" next to his tetanus shots (as well as all other relevant shots), they tried to tell him he had to repeat the whole tetanus series. The receptionist was beyond nasty to us and although I'm usually an overly polite customer, she was being so demeaning that I interrupted her in mid-sentence, told her we'd take our business elsewhere, and slammed the door. This delays AOS yet another week while we wait for an appointment at the one other civil surgeon around here. Don't get me wrong, we're exceptionally grateful that we're finally together and married- but with the economy being so horrible it would be nice if he could start looking for serious work. If this is better suited in an AOS thread, I'll move it but I know a few of you were talking about vaccination stuff last week. You know what ? I was supposed to have my appointment today at 2:30. I couldn't go and ask for my SSN # before to get married cuz' I left to Vegas just 1 week after I entered the US so my informations were not in the system yet... I am in the same boat as you Juliette, as we went to Colorado a week after I arrived. I don't think we will have any problems as the offices we both went to understood the K1 regulations and accepted our applications. The K1 in itself becomes invalid as soon as you enter the country, it is the I-94 that you receive at that point which is the elegibility to register for an SS card as long as you do so within 76 days of entry (this is to allow the 2 weeks for its issue to still fall within the 90 days the I-94 is valid for). Marriage does not invalidate the I-94, though there are plenty of threads on the boards that suggest that a lot of the people who work in SS admin think that it does as others have had problems.
