Well, my interview is tomorrow and I'm, obviously, pretty much terrified. It feels like this journey has taken forever, but if we get a yes tomorrow, then our journey has just begun :-)

I've copied my entire packet, have a co-sponsor as back-up, triple-checked that I brought my passport, birth certificate, divorce decree and police certificate. I'm as ready as I can be - one final hurdle and I can be with my soulmate.

Wish us luck folks. And congrats to everyone who has reached the end of the K-1 journey successfully.

Congrats to those approved!! good.gif

We're all set for interview, I'll be at the embassy on the 7th February. Had a heck of a start to the year, but still on track for now!! Was over with J for Christmas and got stranded thanks to the "polar vortex" - so got to stay longer. Sometimes flight delays can be nice ;-) though saying goodbye three times in one week is not the most pleasant of things. Hopefully the last time I'll have to say goodbye now. We're so close, but it feels so far away. You'll all know how we're feeling!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBritish Airways confirmation e-mails/no boarding passes?

Yeah the only requirement is that you have met. It seems clear to me that this isn't really up for debate with the proof you have. If you do want the insurance policy of getting confirmation from BA, do, but you clearly entered the UK in both June and November and have proof of that, and that you were with your fiance. Think you'll be fine :D

Good luck on your journey! :D

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBritish Airways confirmation e-mails/no boarding passes?

Hi Paddington,

I can't see that this would be a problem - I'm a forgetful sort and a whole set of my boarding passes were missing when we filed, though we had met other times before that. I think if you can explain it and show that you were definitely in the same place at the same time, you've met the burden of proof for meeting each other.

Is it worth contacting BA, if you're worried, to confirm that you did fly with them on a different date? I've done the same with US Airways as I got stuck in the US with the recent weather and they confirmed my flight change then. Just a thought?

Edited as I've noticed that you've actually visited twice. If you have the proof of the November entry you'll be fine, just explain the discrepancy for June and there really shouldn't be an issue.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresYes, you can visit!

Paddington, I think it matters a lot who you get when you go through. When J came to the UK to see me, she wasn't allowed in the country, despite having children back home (not considered enough of a tie to America, apparently), and I have worried every single time I've crossed the border since. This process - it never occurs to you before you go through this that they'd ever turn you away!!  The UK Customs people were idiots, wouldn't listen to reason and in my complaint letters and appeals to them, they contradicted themselves over and over. In the end, it's a lost plane ticket and reservations, but it was to have been our first meeting, and it still hurts a lot even 30 months later. Now our process is almost over, it hurts less, but I will believe forevermore that they were so very, very wrong in their assessment.

However, this is about entry to the US, so I'll stop going on about that ;)

In any case, if he can show ties to the UK, he'll probably be fine, but of course you'll be worried. It's only natural. If it helps at all, my K1 was processed and I had been for my medical before I visited this last time, and I didn't get asked anything at all. And I mean, I was asked if I was here on vacation and that was it.

Have a return ticket, proof of employment or residency in the UK; I also brought my NOA2, to show that we were going through the process legally, I think that helps, personally. If you can prove you know the rules, prove you're following them correctly and show a history of leaving when you're supposed to, all of that will work in his favour. I'm sure he'll be fine.

Likely he'll be fine, but your worries are natural, and don't feel silly for having them.

scottym27MaleUnited Kingdom2014-02-18 07:19:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresYes, you can visit!

Re Houston, while we hadn't filed out i129-f at that time, I had no trouble going through there at all.

I've visited twice since we filed our 129F and had absolutely no problems. I visited just before Christmas (POE Philadelphia) and I had a letter from work, payslips, proof of return tickets, proof of residence, everything. The guy simply asked if I was there on vacation and stamped me through with no further questions. I literally got through in 5 minutes, I was the first person through!

Definitely be prepared, but I've never been stopped at any of my POEs so far. I've gone through Newark, DC, Houston and through Philadelphia the last three times. We'd been so careful, as J was denied entry to the UK when we first attempted to meet (long story that I won't get into but it was ridiculous and stupid; suffice it to say, it's terrified us, probably forever!!) and so we've worried every time.

I've just got back from my sixth visit (total) in two years; my advice would be, be honest, only give answers to questions you're actually asked, and be prepared - bring anything you can that proves you are going home.

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionhow a divorce affect citizenship

i wasn't thinking about USC, i was thinking about getting re-married.

even if i didn't get my GC through my second wife?

Hi...

"i wasn't thinking about USC, i was thinking about getting re-married."

All everyone is suggesting is to wait until your ROC is complete.

I understand that you are emotionally charged up and really want to settle down with your "real love", which I hope happens and you live a happy life, However just think big and get your ROC cleared.

Once you have a 10 year GC, get married. To me personally, it doesnt matter if I file for Citizenship in 3 or 5 years. As long as I am happy.

"even if i didn't get my GC through my second wife?"

Dont you already have a conditional GC?

If you can prove that you entered the marriage in a Good faith (With all supportive documents), then you dont need to worry about getting GC from your second marriage.

Based on how your explanation and aggressiveness goes in this topic, I would suggest you not to bring up a word about your plan of getting married again, during your USICS interview, as that may raise some eyebrows.

Just a thought.

Rest you know what's best for you.

Good luck with whatever you do.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionROC in Active window & Divorce

Hello,

My Conditional GC expires on Nov 28th 2013.

Unfortunately, my marriage was on dire straits and after much consideration I filed for divorce on Aug 28th.

She and my daughter (2 years old now), do not stay with me anymore. My wife stays at her Parents house.

Well, I am going ahead ad filing for ROC with a waiver.

List of supporting documents which I have

1) from 2010 to 2012 (3 years) of Joint Tax returns

2) Daughters Birth certificate

3) Apartment lease from 2010 till 2013, with our names on it

4) 2 copies of Utility Bills (Having both our names ) for year 2012 and 1 copy for year 2013.

5) Joint Bank account statement (checking and saving) from year 2010 till now.

6) Photographs -- My daughters Birthday which we celebrated at my In-laws place, Photographs of Outing with friends (Total 6 snaps--  not including more).

7) A statement of explanation "in my own words" on how and why the marriage ended.

8) Car insurance document (Both names on it ).

9) Divorce petition

10) Marriage license

11) copy of my Green card. and Passport

12) Copies of Medical insurance cards (All 3 names on that)

I hope these should be sufficient, we do not have any property, except for a car which I bought it on my name.

I have 2 lawyers, one for divorce and other for immigration.

The divorce lawyers confirmed that the divorce would be finalized somewhere by October end.

This is because My wife is not contesting.

However I am a little worried with my immigration lawyer as he wants me to wait until the divorce is complete and then file for I-751. I do not think that it is necessary for me to wait as I can file for I-751 with the waiver and attach divorce petition.

Well Any suggestions on whether I should include any other documents and Can I file I 751 with waiver even before the divorce is settled.

Thanks for your advice.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionHelp with I-751

Hi.. I am not an expert so would recommend that you seek some more advice

Based on your questions, I am assuming that your Husband is a US citizen.

Part 1 :

1. other names used >>> should i write it because my passport still using my first name & maiden name ( My GC is already use my husband last name )

Ans :- Yes you should write it in section 2.a,b and c

2. Alien Registration number >> is this from USCIS Letter when they sent a letter for approval of my GC with A- xxx-xxx-xxx

Ans:- Alien registration number can also be found on your Green card, and yes it starts with A-XXX

3. Mailiing Addres is the same address with Physical Address, so should i write it down too or leave it blank?

Ans:- If bith addresses are same, leave Mailing address blank.

Part 2 :

Waiver request filing >>> which one for the answer i am confuse

Ans:- Waiver is filed when you are going through a divorce or separation (By any other means). I believe that you and your husband and Joint filing. In that case No need to check anything under Waiver Request section.

Part 3 : About my husband

1. Where can i find his Alien registration Number?

Ans:- I dont think you need his alien number, so leave it blank

Part 4 : Children >> we don't have any children but he does from previous marriage so i just leave this part blank

Ans:- I think it shuld be left blank, however will seek some more advice.

Part 5 : Blank / No

Part 7 : Preparer is myself or should be my husband?

Ans:- I think This is filled when someone else other that you two is filing the papers for you (For example an Attorney).

I think you can leave i blank.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionConcerned with Acceptance and status update of i-751

Sorry, what's an LOA?

It says on the letter to quote your "receipt number" (it begins EAC-XX-XXX-XXXXX) but remove hyphens when typing it in.

I've done that on phone and website but it says I'm not in the system!!

It's bizarre.

When you first send your package to USICS, they acknowledge the acceptance by sending you a Letter of Acceptance (LOA1).

This letter has a receipt number (begins with 'EAC-----').

Second letter you receive from them is the Biometrics appointment letter. The receipt on Biometrics letter will be the one which would be binded to your case.

Receipt number on Biometrics number will be different from the receipt number you see on Letter of Acceptance. (usually receipt number on Biometrice letter starts with 'WAC-XX-XXX-XXXXX'.

Hope this helps.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionConcerned with Acceptance and status update of i-751

Hi,

So I filed my i-751 at the end of February but it arrived in Vermont on the 4th March.

I got my letter last week which was nice.

I haven't received a request for Biometrics yet but I understand it can take up to 30 days from acceptance.

My concern is with the USCIS website and telephone number. When I went to the USCIS website, to check if it has been accepted and entered my receipt number this comes up:

  • Your case can not be found at this time in My Case Status. Please check your receipt number and try again. If you need further assistance, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1.800.375.5283.

I've called the number, it's all automated and it says the exact same thing! Apparently I am not in the system which is concerning me greatly

Is this normal? I want to get my biometrics done as soon as possible because my wife and I will be leaving the country for 8 weeks around the end of May.

Can anyone shed any light on this? I'd be very grateful.

Thanks.

Hi,

I think the case number received with LOA is not the one which you can use to track your case status.

You biometrics appointment letter will have a case number, use that number to track your status.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionMissed biometrics how serious?Attorney suggestion

Yes,

You should immediately contact USICS and reschedule your appointment.

Also, On the other hand, I would also suggest you to visit your biometrics office location and try getting your Biometrics done.

Just carry the Biometrics appointment letter and give a good reason on why you missed your appointment earlier.

Wont hurt trying!!
