CanadaCar insurance
I've been pretty happy with American Family, but it is mostly because their local agents who I deal with are so nice. Payment schedules---I think most companies will give you options. I have to renew my policy every 6 months, but they give me a few differnt choices for billing (monthly, or every 3 months or all at once, I think).

Wow, they did a really good job getting all the snow and ice off that car in the top photo. Too bad they won't be moving the car until springtime!

Six FEET?!!! ohmy.gif Was that just one snowfall?

I grew up near Buffalo. I remember one year they had 6 feet of snow in one storm, and then got 6 more feet 2 days later! And that was on top of the foot or two already on the ground. We got virtually nothing from those storms, which was really disappointing to me because it would have meant getting out of school.

That was CRAZY wasn't it, Songbird? I'm from Oakville so I remember it well. And I was disappointed I didn't get a snowday either. laughing.gif Where are/were you?

Blizzard of '77? I remember in December of 1991, Toronto received 18" in 12 hours. I was delivering newspapers in those days so I remember it too well.

I grew up in Rochester, NY. When it came from the north, we got blasted, and when it came from the west, Buffalo got blasted. That's why they got 12 feet of snow and we hardly got any (which means we may have gotten under a foot...!). It might have been '77 that I'm thinking of. I can't remember exactly, but around that era. 12 feet of snow in 2 days is kind of unusual even for Buffalo.

Jomo's Girl, it looks like more than 6 inches to me, too. I have not heard any official total.

CanadaWords to live by this month
Excellent advice (except I think I will substitute "hot apple cider laced with brandy" for "eggnog"). Thank you for sharing!

I am sorry to hear you are still....waiting....!!!! UGGGGHHHH! BUT I hope that you both have a truly lovely Christmas.

I voted yes too, but in reality, my answer is probably somewhere between yes and no, I like what I do. I would like to have the flexibility to travel more and be able to spend more time with my parents. I'd also love to be able to live wherever I want (ie, Tucson). So I would probably quit my job, but I might do pro bono work or write books or something with my time that just isn't an option right now.

Yeah, I know THAT feeling. I usually start missing him the last day of the visit. I have to remind myself to savor the last moments together before we part.

CanadaYour first post - what was it?
Oh dear, my first post was pretty long so I won't copy the whole thing, but I actually began by saying "That's a commonly asked question." It was in response to someone asking about what to do to try to accomodate his future mother-in-law's wish to be there at the couple's wedding ceremony (if memory serves, she would not be able to travel to the US for the wedding and the couple had already filed for a K1 and made it clear to the mother that the legal wedding was going to have to be in the US).

CanadaHoneymoon outside of U.S after entering with K1?
I haven't been to either, but Molokai or Lanai would not be as commercial as the bigger Hawaiian islands. I just read an article about Molokai that almost made me want to go there for my honeymoon. Another option is taking the honeymoon sometime after the wedding. I know many people who have done this even without immigration issues just because they had more time for it later on.

Delicia, I don't know if this will help or not, but there is a couple on the October Filers thread who had their entire petition returned to them because of something (forgetting to sign something or making out the check wrong, I can't remember what), and when she resubmitted it, they gave her a receipt date that was the date the original rejected petition was received. They process them in order of the receipt dates, more or less. That was for a K-1, but I would think they will handle it similarly for you, and if that's the case, you've not lost any time.

CanadaGIANTS MADE IT TO THE SUPERBOWL
Well, my team, the St Louis Rams, suck worse than the entire NFL except the hapless Miami Dolphins. I started following hockey this year, not because I am engaged to a Canadian, but because the Blues are the only local team that doesn't suck. I'm not a big football fan anyway, but I did see the Giants play the Patriots in the last regular season game because my fiance was watching it. It was an impressive matchup, and it was fun seeing the underdog team make the undefeatable Patriots really work for their victory. So I guess I am rooting for the Giants again. My fiance has been hoping for them to get a loss all season, but mainly because he is rooting for the 1972 Dolphins to keep their "only team to go undefeated ever" title.
