You can actually email your DS-3032. It's faster than mailing the form to NVC.

Follow these steps, and remember the email has to be sent from the beneficiary's email address... which you would have given the operator when you learn your NVC case number.

Good luck!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAOS Line 25

You must have filed income tax returns for the previous three years if you were you were REQUIRED to file, or you can write a letter explaining why you WERE NOT REQUIRED to file for 2009. This has nothing to do with meeting the poverty guidelines...it's one of the BASIC requirements for filing the I-864.

So, if you should have filed 2009 and didn't, that's the first thing you MUST do, but if you were not required to file, then write an explanation why not--it's pretty easy--REALLY !!

Magical is right.

However, to the best of my knowledge, the I-864 instructions state that only last year's tax papers are required for the affidavit of support. Tax papers for the two years before that are optional. But they may be asked for even if you don't include them in the initial I-864 submission.

If you meet the poverty guidelines, I don't think you will need a co-sponsor. This is at the discretion of NVC or the Consulate Officer, of course.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresport of entry questions on Cr1 visa

Our POE was JFK. Unclaimed bags are taken off the conveyor belt by the porters and are left in the middle of the floor for claiming (near the conveyor belt). Don't worry. The process only took me 5-6 minutes. BTW, the luggage area is but a few feet away from the immigration office. We found it best that he tend to the bags after the POE officer told me to wait in the office after stamping my passport.

Thank you for your insight. :)

Hello everyone, on the topic of picking up your luggage after the "processing" step, I'll fly into JFK in a few short weeks if all goes well with my interview. Since the processing can take quite awhile does anyone know what will happen with your luggage if it sits on the carousel for to long? I want me husband to stay with me and not go off to claim our baggage, but if it takes an hour for processing I'm sure the airport staff will not just leave our bags sitting there. Does JFK have a specific claims area? Any information you might provide is greatly appreciated.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAny last tips?
It's finally here! My interview is in less than 24 hours, and I am scaring myself thinking about the possible worst case scenarios that could happen. Our relationship is as simple and clearcut as it can be. I've known my husband going on 8 years now and I know him better than anyone else. On the off-chance that they throw me a question I don't know the answer to, it shouldn't be too much of a cause for concern either, right?

Anyway, I will be going alone and bringing everything we have, separated into 8 folders. Each folder is just one of those things with 10-20 sheet protectors bound together to make a file. It may seem complex and confusing, but I know where everything is since I filed everything myself.

Here's how I've organized my documents:

1. Appointment letter/passport/passport photo/medical vaccination records/extra forms (just in case)
2. Civil documents - Birth cert, marriage cert, copy of police cert, hubby's birth cert, passport bio data page, driver's license
3. Financial stuff - new I-864, original tax transcripts, pay stubs etc.. [Again, just in case]
4. Marriage and wedding stuff - Engagement announcement, wedding cards, invites, receipts, photos
5. Evidence folder 1 - insurance documents with each other as beneficiaries, supplementary credit cards he's applied for in my name, miscellanous receipts, cards and letters to each other, emails, phone records, a selection of chat logs, photographs
6. Evidence folder 2 - Cards, letters and emails sent to and from my in-laws
7. Evidence folder 3 - travel records like passport stamps, plane tickets, boarding passes, receipts for when he was here in Jan, luggage tags and anything else we could scourge up (separated by trips)
8. copies of I-130, I-864 and DS-230 submissions

Any last minute tips or suggestions? Am I missing anything?

Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers between now and Wednesday!

Thank you, awesome people of VJ! :star:

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAOS COVER LETTER OPINION..
It says right on the instructions to the I-864EZ (pages 4 and 5) that..

You must provide either an IRS transcript or a photocopy from your own records of your Federal individual income tax return for the most recent tax year.

If you provide a photocopy of your tax return(s), you must include a copy of each and every FormW-2 and Form 1099 that relates to your return(s). Do not include copies of these Forms if you provide an IRS transcript of your return(s) rather than a photocopy.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAOS COVER LETTER OPINION..

You forgot something MAJOR.

Since you are using I-864EZ. You must have W-2 forms, not just Tax Transcripts.

Also list the documents in reverse order of years. Year 2010 first and 2008 last.

Hi Palladin, that's not true. We used the I-864EZ with just tax transcripts. Had no problems whatsoever.

Talked to an operator this morning. Our AOS package, delivered on Sept 6, has been reviewed with no problems on Sept 9. They issued an RFE for the DS-230 (delivered Sept 7) on Sept 9 as well.

Hoping for a case close in the next couple of days.

Hey Caly, congrats to you. Did they give you anything else besides the case #? I asked for the IIN but they said that NVC would contact me with further details. LOL I sent another email with my NVC case number requesting the IIN#. Hopefully that works. And finally someone from the VSC...where on the east coast are you?

 Odd, that. We were able to get our IIN# from the operator straight away. Perhaps you can try calling them back and speaking to someone else? Oh, and Hubby is in New York.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNVC Received File On Aug 1st Not NVC# yet

Ok, my I-130 was approved on July 29...NVC received my case on August 1st. I did not hear from them all month so I emailed them on Tuesday and yesterday I received an email that they received my petition and to allow them 6-8 weeks to update the information. I just called NVC today at 10:15am and spoke to a representative and she gave me my case #!!!!!!!!!!!!!! woo-hooo!!! She told me that NVC would contact me with further information. I really think emailing them helps. It took me 25 days (19 business days) to get my case #.Good luck to all.

We just called and got our case number too! Thanks for the heads up and congrats to you too! :)

Hopefully you get your case # soon.I've read that they received cases in batches from the service centers. I tracked CSC cases to see how that was progressing. I was trying to get more info and insight for the people @ VSC since I didn't really track it as much. If it really means that they send in big boxes and such that maybe someone that received their case number, that mine would come soon as well. Those were the lines of thinking on that.

Yay! Just got our case number, right after MHTA who was also approved out of VSC within 2 days of us. Seems you are likely on the right track!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNVC Received File On Aug 1st Not NVC# yet

I just noticed yotu petition was filed at VSC. I would say most of the others on this thread were filed at CSC.
From what I've read it seems like the VSC has had their files processed faster than the CSC.
Could anyone else comment on that?

On another note, is anyone that has their file from the CSC received August 1st still awaiting their case number from NVC?

I received my case # and IIN late last night.

We were with VSC for the first step and I'm not personally certain that we have our files processed any quicker. The first time I spoke with an operator she said our file was received at NVC on 8/1 and will be worked on soon. On Monday I tried a operator and she just said it was received recently and was being worked on now, still no case number today though. We are up to 18 business days if the claim that our file was received on 8/1 was actually true.

Don't think VSC is going any faster than CSC at this point.

We filed at VSC, approved July 27th. 28 days later... still no case number. When we called last week, we were told that they received our file on Aug 1. Called this morning and were told they had JUST received our case and they were entering it into the system. <_<

Your Gc arrives automatically to the address you indictae don your DS-230 form. The SSN, you have to go to a local office and fill out the application wethere you checked it on the IV form or not( unless things have changed)

Everything I've read says that if you fill out the section on an immigrant visa application form your SSN will automatically be mailed to you, as stated on the SSA link below:

http://www.ssa.gov/pubs/10096.html#2

However, it does also say to apply in person at the local office if you don't receive your SSN within 3 weeks of entering the US, so I guess it's time for the husband and I to plan a long drive. :bonk:

For what it's worth, I entered the US on the CR-1 visa on Nov 18 and just received my green card in the mail two days ago (Dec 12).

Still waiting on the SSN. I selected the option on the application to have the SSN sent after entry as well. We are planning on giving it a few weeks more before paying a visit to our local SSN office as it is a 2-hour drive each way.

You should probably just call the consulate's immigration visa department to ask.

http://manila.usemba...ov/contact.html

However, it seems they are closed Sept 27 and 28 due to heavy rain from Typhoon Pedring. According to the Manila consulate webpage, they should re-open on the 29th of September.

Questions Regarding AOS and IV Packet:
5. On IV Packet according to EZGuideSpouse #7 item i- ) Original/Certified divorce decree of the beneficiary's prior marriage. We both got divorced, do I need to include my original divorce decree with this IV packet as the petitioner??
6. Lastly, can I mail the AOS and IV package at the same time in two separate envelopes but in one express mail envelope??

Thanks for your understanding – I just want to do this stage real slow but surely. From Darell, page 2 #21 he said,
I must pick 2” and those two are GOOD and CHEAP, disregard FAST!!! Thank you all, have a nice day... and God bless!

5. You don't need to send your documents with the DS-230. Remember, the DS-230 pertains only to the applicant/beneficiary. They should already have a copy of your divorce decrees as you would have sent it with your I-130 packet. Make sure to get the original/certified copy to your wife so she can bring it to the interview.

6. Yes, you can.

I'm afraid you'll have to wait for someone else to come along and answer your questions about the I-864. I'm not sure about that as we didn't need a joint-sponsor and don't want to give you wrong information.

Best of luck!
