Hi Ron and Sharon
I just saw your post now ( havent been here much lately ) I want to wish you both the best and hope the CIC will be quicker , best of luck with everything . will be thinking of you both

Hello Lona, I have been missing your posts, I hope everything is well with you and Tony, I’m glad that you 2 have a short break now before continuing to the next step. Thank you for the wishes, we are thinking of CIC but that wouldn’t happen until Sharon is free of her obligations to her mother, which is why we are looking at CIC and still with USCIS. The good thing about CIC if we go that route is having Sharon here during the process which for a K1 is the opposite n the States. Will be praying for you and wishing you a speedy journey through the next process.

Ron,
your boss is indeed a laudable woman. but then again, you are an amazing human being my friend, so it does not surprise me that she helps you. We're thinking about you, and Sharon, and her folk.

L&B

Hi Lenina, Thank you very much for the observation, Sharon would agree with you totally, I on the other hand would say I am just another human being going the best I can and aim to please but not always hit the target. I assure you that bosses like mine are far between and I doubt I would ever find another like her if I were to seek a different employer. In reality she'd rather I stay but also wants Sharon and I to be together and knows the reason for my wanting too be in Kansas. Sharon and I are always thinking of you and the others on the site especially in the Canadian forum, since Sharon doesn't have much time to be here I am the go-between between VJ and her.

Cassie, my dear you have much more right to complain than Sharon and I or many other on this site have, 4 years and still there are hoops before you, that is well beyond anything anyone should be put through. You dance for us and we will for you when you are finally free of all and everything.

YAY! I'm glad you came back to let us know how you are doing!!!!
I hope Sharon didn't cry too much, but we care for you both very very much!!!!

I'm happy that your boss is keeping you on, why wouldn't he? I bet you are a super hard worker!
I'm proud of you for not giving up.

Hugs
~Laura

P.S. I knew Liz meant "Strongest" couple, not "Strangest" laughing.gif
That's funny!!!! wink.gif

I can tell you that Sharon is and always has been touched by the show of support we have been getting from everyone; this is a close knit community of strangers meaning that for people that have never met outside this community there is a bond such as that which holds the Universe together.

My boss is a lady and a wonderful woman slightly over half my age who is doing much more than she should for Sharon and I. Even though I work for the government as a contract employee she has renewed my contract every year for the past 18 years. Since telling her that I would be leaving 2 years ago she has moved me into a position where I could take care of both the work that was given to me and the necessities required of the immigration process. She was the one that always let me go to see Sharon with very little advanced notice. There are not many bosses like her, she’s the best.

Giving up was never an option nor has it ever been a seed planted in our minds, there is always an out that is beneficial, there plan A and if it fails plan B and if that fail I will proudly wear a Canelien T-shirt if Trailmix will design one.

As for the Strongest comment that had me wondering what was meant, I think I did say I was slow. I knew it wasn’t meant as something bad, I just thought it was some regional jargon and the meaning escaped me.

Thank Melusine, I don't know if it harder to live or harder to read. Regardless of any outcome the ending will be the same, we will be together as we wish and as it is meant to be. We have been luck to have been in contact with Operator 6 at Montreal who is very supportive and patient and takes time to be encouraging. This person is not your typical Consulate cut and dry responder.

Babblesgirl, Thank you, at the time you wrote your reply the time was 12 to 16 months as of last week it was reduced to 8 to 12 month which is much better since 6 months have been dropped from the maximum length of our wait.

Liz, I had placed it in OT as I knew that there, there wouldn't be much attention drawn to it since the post was more about releasing pressure and frustration at that time, I could have wrote and deleted it but that wouldn't have had the same effect that posting has had. I'm a bit slow so you will have to tell me what you mean by "You really are one of the strangest couples I've seen in a long time", I know it is something good but right now am unable to wrap my mind around it. I don't think I want to tell Sharon every day that she is strange, can you imagine what life would be like if I did that.

Estadia, I am sure that the 14 month is the maximum waiting period their visa can come through, hopefully much quicker than that with a bit of luck and a kind hearted adjudicator.

Laura and Nick, Things are going well, Sharon and I are both still working, my boss is keeping my on until it is decided what will happen. Everyone here would like to see me leave to be with Sharon and are behind us 100% as they are 100% for Sharon coming here. We don't know exactly how long Sharon's mother will be with us so we are both keeping the stay or go option open. I can tell you that my strength comes from coming here and for the most part reading about others who write what I wrote when I was just a few months into the process. Sharon and I have our moments when we wish it was all over but most of the time we live our lives as if it were over with we are married and as many in the military from both countries (no offence meant) separated by circumstance. The impossible only happens when one gives up, this is not nor will we allow it to become impossible.

Caladan, Thank you. Our inspiration comes from here by wrapping ourselves in others and not just our own journey, As for being amazing that is easy being one mind, one heart and one soul in two bodies wishing to unite.

KarenCee, Thank you, We wish they were more honest in their dealings but we taking what is give and giving what is asked. For the honesty part above; I wrote to Emilio Washington 7 months ago and nothing in return, wrote to the USCIS ombudsman about Debbie but they can't help stating that it was a legal problem. Thank you for the prayers they are the glue that keep us together in hard times.

CutienPurg, To get what we want we have to do as asked but it would have been easier if the reasoning were valid, but as you say it will all pay off in the end. I hope the end is for the two of you, it has been very long and tiring journey.

Thermophile, Thank you, Losing Sharon's father was hard as were the months leasing up to his passing. CIC will come into play only if Sharon's mother passes before USCIS come through. Going through any process is always easier with the one we love by our side.

Trailmix, I told Sharon about the Canaliens and she said I should give it a try. Thank you for the good luck wish. Even if I were to go south there is no guarantee that we would remain there, I am one year away from retirement and Sharon's two years away.

Reba, Sharon is the good one, I'm the bad boy causing all the problems. She would have no trouble with CIC. As everyone else we would still have to follow the process as everyone else but it would be much easier with her here with by my side. We have been together for 5 or 6 years depending which one of us you ask.

P.S. It only takes one official to make your life a living heII.

Carla, We only want to go back as far as the consulate no farther please, that is where we get what we need and all we want. Believe me Carla I am waiting for the day I can write that we are together and going through the next of these multiple hoops.

Crikey, thank you, I hope everything is going the way you want and you are enjoying the new life you chose.

SpiritAlight, We would live anywhere if we were able to be together. Much like you and your spouse we have hearts that will never stop loving the other, if you look at what you have you will see what we also have.

We have been living with Liz's Faerie dust for a while now, I'm sure that it is that which brought us this far.

Laura and Nick, Sorry there are no updates other than we are in Vermont for adjudication and there is no way that we know of to get any info from them until the final decision is reached and they contact us directly before sending everything back to Montreal.

SonoranSongbird, I tend to stay away from posting except for the very odd time, but I seem to be making up for it today though. Losing Sharon's father was hard because every time he regained consciousness he asked if he had missed our wedding and Sharon told him "no daddy you didn't miss it" that will always hurt us very deeply because he so wanted to be sure that Sharon was married and happy with her new life. Sharon's mother has Alzheimer and in moments when the cloud is lifted asks for me, but she also is according to the staff at her nursing home failing more and more every day and is not given more than a few months with us. This past year has been the worse for us but through everything we have been totally supportive to each other without thought for ourselves. We are both doing very well physically and mentally, emotionally we I guess are basket cases and until we are together will remain as such. Thank you for the wish and We also can't wait to be finally together.

Len and Bren, I miss not posting here but it is better that for now I don't participate because I find it hard to be supportive without injecting my thoughts which take away from the original train of thought that is going on. I do come here every day and read what is going on and at times am tempted and do write off site things I would like to say only to read more about us than about the text that was read. CIC is still in the future but very much a possibility depending very much on Sharon's mothers condition and how quickly USCIS can get with the program and make their decision. Just because I am not as visible as before it doesn't mean I have left, once we are back on track everything will be easier, the conversations and the support will be as it was or better.

Rhymeswithcandi, thanks, we have had better days and still better ones are our in the future, thank you for the wish each one helps us, thank for the prayers also, they are heard because if not things could be a lot worse.

Thank you everyone it is such a good feeling to know that so many wonderful people who have their own lives to live and hoops to jump through have taken time to support us in the way each one of you have. I hope that soon we will be able to do and give to you what you are doing and giving to us.

I hope you realize that tonight I will be reading all these pages to Sharon and she will cry, Shame on you. Love you all very much, have a quick and pleasant journey.

In September Sharon and I lost one half of the reason for my moving to the States, her father! In the next few months we have been told; Sharon could very likely be losing the second half of our reason for my immigrating, her mother! The one thing that made us decide to want to live in the States in the first place was Sharon’s parent’s ages, but since her father passed away in September her mother’s health has been declining rapidly that very reason is quickly becoming invalid.

USCIS has had our lives and full attention since September 19, 2006 and it could take right into August of 2009 at the very latest before a reply of any kind, positive or negative could be received.

Now that USCIS and their underlings have everything they have asked for and in remembering their timeline for acting on our case we figure that bringing Sharon here would be the quick and the easiest thing for us to do.

We are letting the process at USCIS continue on its course since we have paid for results and wish to see what those results are. We have paid them their non-refundable $545.00 and now we want the satisfaction of going to Montreal and going through the secondary interview if accepted tell them thanks but no thanks you took to long.

Going through CIC may or may not be easier, but at least we will have the option that is not available to us in the States and that is of being together as the process unfolds and that alone is a bonus that is to good to pass up on.

Now all we have to do is get a plan of action and get it in motion once Sharon is free.

P.S. Had the first interview gone well and I was now in the States, I am sure that we would once Sharon was without her daughterly obligations move to Canada, at least for a good part of the year.

CanadaHow do you use eat with your knife and fork?
I definitely use both styles depending on what the meal is, who the company is and the occasion. Normally what is to be cut is cut into one to three bite size pieces, meats and vegetables. The knife is also used to place foods on the fork. Circumstanes dictate.

Well we are the chosen ones for a reason, but the good thing in all of this is that we are the only ones so lets just keep it that way, we are in no need nor do we want to have company. Sharon and I never had the chance to stress very much, our appointment was a total surprise and about 2 months before we expected it and with only 2 days notice there was no time to panic and thank god everything was ready to go, just needed to get my butt to Montreal. These days Sharon and I are still very much in love with each other and talk as often as possible which means she calls me at 9 a.m. before going to bed, I call her at 5 p.m. to wake her and spend 2 hours with her before she is off to work and then I call her a 2 a.m. her time 3 a.m. during her lunch break. We have no time to argue because we are busy supporting each other through each day still hoping for a quick end and being together soon.

Trailmix, I’m not sure if I am answering your question so here is where we are at right now.

Because of the past condition of Sharon’s father and his subsequent passing we have both drain our liquid(?) funds to where they need replenishing which we are now able to do. Both the I-601 and 22?g have not been filed as we have been involved with the illness and passing of Sharon’s father. What we have just done that maybe we shouldn’t have is sent a package off to Dr. Emilio T. Gonzalez, Director, USCIS with a copy of everything received from the Consulate and everything given to the Consulate regarding my past criminal activity and alcoholism. The way things stand now it may take the 12 to 18 month wait to get back in shape to continue through the process. We are also thinking of bringing Sharon here if things don’t go well or she finds it too difficult at work or our being apart to hard to deal with.

I'm glad that you are ready, you don't want to get caught with last minute details. Wonderful colour for the wedding dress I'm sure that it will be beautiful once you are done making it yours.

Sharon and I are pretty much stressed out now that she is back at work because she is on the overnight shift which works from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m.. That reduces our time together quite a bit since I work from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Last night being her first shift this morning she was too tired to talk so we had 15 minutes together, tonight we should be able to sqeeze in an hour or so before she is off to work again.

aww sorry your shifts are not the same at the moment , but try to see it like that if you where together right now it wouldnt be much differant you go when she comes and she goes when you come , the main thing is you have eachother stay strong ,we all know things will turn for the best for you both best wishes to sharon

If I were there I am sure that I wouldn’t be working yet and for us that would mean I would stay up the same hours Sharon does. There are things to done around the house as there is in any house plus I have a basement that needs re-arranging and my workshop is in need of pegboards and Sharon would come home for her meals.

We definitely have each other and we are strong in our love and commitment to each other, the thing that sucks is that in the mornings right now we have about 15 minutes together because she calls me at work at about 9:30 her time 10:30 mine and then we have about an hour from 6:00 – 7:00 her time 7:00 – 8:00 mine in the evening before she is off to work and me home then we have about 10 or 15 minutes at 2 a.m. 3 a.m. my time during her lunch time. I guess we were too comfortable with our 45 minutes in the morning half hour at lunch time and 2 to 3 hours in the evening. The good thing I that God will compensate us for the time we are missing. We are both health, strong and determined to succeed and we will.

thanks Ron! wasnt planning on hearing from them until Jan/Feb....so if theres a chance that it will be before the end of the year...what a great surprise... of course not holding my breath, but it would be nice...

Kimmbo, Sharon and I were because of conversations with Montreal waiting for a November/December and even as far as January date, to our surprise we were told through a phone call (I called) on August 7th that our date was August 9th that was a two day notice with no time to panic. So if I were you and anyone else here waiting for a date I would keep my eyes and ears open and call Montreal frequently, you can never tell when your date arrives there. All I will stress is have everything in order and ready to go, I thank god was ready for them months in advance except the medical which I got on the 2nd of August, all I needed to do was catch the bus as it was a day trip.

First of all sorry and congratulation to everyone I have missed, I've been living inside my own mind for a while now.

Montreal seems to be all over the map lately! 2 left in May, 3 in June, 2 in July and 1 in August to get their dates. From the list that I have that leaves 8 couples waiting for their dates my thinking is that getting dates is going very well and you who have your dates also have ample time to get everything sorted and the trip planned well in advance. All the best to everyone with a Montreal date in hand and to those still waiting I hope God answers your prayers very soon, sooner than the date you yourself are thinking of.

Hi Ron,

I understand, it's kind of one of those 'wouldn't it be good if we could' scenarios. Immigration is a funny thing. Because they have all this power to make decisions people back off from confronting them (with good reason, as you mention).

In the normal world no one would put up with this kind of treatment - it's all wacky!

Someone I know freezes up every time they cross the border. When the guy asked, "where are you going?" he said 'Canada' (heading in to Canada). haha

Your friend needs to remember that the border officers have rules and regulations that allow them to go so far and no further. They are there to intimidate and are obviously doing a good job in your friends case, but they (the someone you know) has to learn to quiet down and listen and give the right answer to their questions.
Having spent damned near a life time working in the government I have very little fear of their power over me. Someone once said that the only power someone has over you is the power you give them, in my case I question them on all points they set before me. my last letter to them ended with "don't bother replying since any response will only make you look foolish" obviously they saw the truth in that as they didn't reply. I'll tell you one thing when I go back there my file will have inreased in size.

Finally got my interview letter in the mail, dated Sept 14! But with the same interview date and time they told me back in August. Less than a month now... smile.gif

Now girl you can relax and concentrate on what needs to be done with this letter waiting out of the way.

This is just an unloading of mind clutter because I'm bored and boredom brings the worse out of me so here goes.

Why do the better writers here not get together and draft a letter to the consulate requesting information on their status. This letter should be posted here and everyone waiting for an interview date cut and paste and then on the very same day over a period of time choose a time to send it and everyone send it to Montreal at the same time and on the same day. I think Montreal would get the idea that there is a group out here looking at what they are doing there. Everyone says that Big brother is watching, so, why not let them know that little brothers and sisters are watching also.

This way no-one will feel to send something one day and another on another day, it would be a kind of reverse spamming, not one address sending to many addresses but many addresses sending to one address.

If anyone thinks of doing something like the above you all better think of the consequences it could come back and bite you in the AS$.[/quote]

That is indeed a bad idea. Where did you read that Ron? Was it in the Canada forum somewhere? If that was to be done, I am almost sure most people who sent said letter would get on MTL's bad side.

That is why I wrote the first and last sentences.

It came from seeing "I e-mailed last week who will e-mail today" I really didn't think anyone would actually do what I wrote because it would have needed the cooperation of everyone and I knew that brighter minds would see how things could turn out.

Breathe!
Remember when our bunch went through all the emailing, and calling and were given dates way off, turned out when we called the next week, the appts were booked.... and sooner then they said....soooooooo smile.gif

Yep, Tinker, that's what I was thinking.....on the list since June, and the last email I got from them said "we told you you were on the 4-6 month waiting list". 6 months is December, so they just threw it out there.....

Liz, I'll betcha we get a letter in the next 2-3 weeks for a November appt. yes.gif

You guys better, because I want a December one before the holidays!

I still haven't received my letter in the mail... I'm wondering if it got lost in the mail... What should I do if I never receive the letter when the time of my interview comes? I guess I could print off the email in which they told me my date...

When you get to the consulate just present your passport to the security people and tell them you have an appointment, they will verify and confirm your appointment without the letter, all the best to you at Montreal.

I have permission to go to the States after a denial at the consulate, leaving tomorrow afternoon crossing at the peace bridge. I went to the airport in Ottawa and was told I could get a parole from them to enter the States also but the price of flying right now is too much for us so I am going by bus. there was no question about my bringing proof coming back just a reason for wanting to go to the States.
