K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsK1 June 2010 CSC Filers

Why does the timelines page say that CSC is currently working on petitions with NOA1 date June 18 but no one has been approved lately? And it's supposed to be based on VJ member timlines

I've been wondering that myself... Because our NOA1 was dated June 2nd... and according to that it said they were processing June 2nd on August 8th... so I haven't put a lot of faith into it seeing as it's a month later and still nothing... I just check Igor's list and kinda go from there...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsK1 June 2010 CSC Filers
Oh I know... I'm seriously thinking that if I had just got my petition in a few days sooner and had my NOA1 date at the end of May instead of the beginning of June my file would be at the consulate by now... and I still have the ridiculous wait at the Montreal consulate to go after this :( We were hoping to be together for Christmas but at this rate it's looking really grim :( Hopefully with a new month September we will see them get back to processing K1's and everyone will see them shortly...

Only good thing is that Igor's list seems to have them at the very end of May so they should be working on the June ones as soon as they pick up the K1 files again *crossing my fingers*

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedureshow do they do it? No job yet bring wife or fiancee to america.
Same here, unfortunately my Fiancee lost his job that he had for almost 20 years back in January, so I am paying for myself to come to the US to visit him, and if he doesn't find a job by the interview date then we will just have to get a co-sponsor.

I think a lot of people can get help from friends or family, or perhaps the fiancee from the non-us is paying for there own trips, or currently has enough savings to help support themselves for the few months while they are waiting for EAD and AOS.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCR-1 CR-2 Forms and Fees

Yup, it is not like the K-1. Cr1 does not have a derivative visa automatically, you must petition for both your wife and for your son

Good luck

Do you still have to pay the $350 Visa fee like you did with the K-1?
LiltiggsterFemaleCanada2011-01-30 15:52:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCR-1 CR-2 Forms and Fees

you need 2 petitions, 1 for your wife and 1 for the boy. Each petition goes through NVC with the associated fees. Each person needs a medical. However, once in the US there is no additional fees as they are permenant residents upon arrival

Good luck

So all the fees twice? Petition, Visa Application, IV Fees?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCR-1 CR-2 Forms and Fees
Due to some unforeseeable circumstances we are going to have to change from a K-1 and K-2 Visa to a CR-1 and CR-2 Visa. I've read the guides and a lot of posts and I get how to send it in and what I need. I'm just wondering if I have the forms and fees right.

Send I-130 Form and Fee $420
Front and Back of Petitioner's Birth Certificate
Marriage Certificate
Divorce Papers
G-325A for Beneficiary and Petitioner and Passport Picture
G-1145 E-notification

Evidence of a Bonified Marriage:
Co-mingling of fiances, lease, bank accounts, pictures etc.

Then After the NOA2
Pay $88 Fee for AOS

Then $404
DS-230 IV Package
Send DS-3032
Marriage Certificate
Police Certificates
2 Passport Photos
Beneficiary Passport Bio Page
Beneficiary Long Form Birth Certificate
Petitioner's Divorce Papers

Then
I-864 Affadavit of Support Package.
3 years of Taxes
1040 From most recent tax year
5-6 months of paystubs
Employment letter

Now here's where I get lost:
With the K-1 and K-2 Visa you needed a medical and I know here in Canada that's $250 for Adults and $150 for my son.
Do you need a medical for the CR-1 and CR-2 Visa?

Do you have to pay the $350 Visa Fee's as well as you did with the K1 and K2?

And lastly once you have your Visa and enter the USA are there any other fees I read there isn't an AOS or EAD Or AP fees like there were with the K1. But are there any fees that I am missing. (Besides flights, photocopying stuff like that I know) Just like form fees or biometrics or anything?

And are there any extra forms I have to fill in because I am coming with a child?

Thanks so much for the help :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWaiting in the US?
I am going down for my second trip to see my fiancee at the beginning of June and we are going to be sending off for the K-1 Fiancee Visa. From what I understand from reading tons and researching at some point I will have to have an interview and a medical done, my question is because I can go down to the US for 6 months -1 day in a year, what happens if the interview comes up and I am still down in the US with my fiancee, I am planning to go down for about 4 months. Am I able to do the interview from the US or will I have to go back to Canada to do it?

Oh that sucks, I don't have a car so I was hoping to do it at the Embassy in Ottawa because then I could just take public transit there... hrmmmm oh well guess I will have to take a Greyhoundbus and hope they have one early enough in the morning. :S

Do they do the interviews in Ottawa at the Embassy or only at the Montreal Consolate?

My fiancee got laid off in January, and obviously he had to get a job in order for us to have our visa approved. I was just wondering when does he have to get a job by, if he gets it just before the NOA2 date will that make an impact on our Visa application?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurescsc V vsc
Well as of right now as I am posting according to what VJ Members are updating on their timelines, and from what I have been reading on the forums VSC has been pumping out approvals fast lately.

Right now:
CSC is working on K1 Dates May 2 2010
VSC is working on K1 Dates May 7 2010
and
CSC is working on K3 Dates March 16 2010
VSC is working on K3 Dates March 22 2010

so as of right now it looks like VSC is pumping them out faster and in record time.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA1 Question
Does only the petitioner receive the NOA1? I have been in the US with him since we sent it in but when I called back home to make arrangements for me coming back I was told that no mail had come for me. So I was wondering if it only goes to the US Citizen Petitioner?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWill I get an RFE for...
on my I-129F on question 20: Your fiancee will apply for a visa abroad at the American embassy or consulate at:

City___________ Country_________

I filled out Ottawa, Canada because that is where the US embassy is. This was before I knew that you can only go to the consulate in Montreal.

Will I get an RFE and have to correct it before they will send out the NOA2 or will they just change it themselves? Really hoping I didn't just find the one error I made that is going to cost me a couple of months :S

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTravel During Waiting Process
After reading similar topics about this I had worked myself up to thinking for sure I was going to be denied when I went to go visit my fiancee. I am a stay at home mom and I live with my grandparents. I didn't have any ties back to Canada and they were going to send me back at the boarder.

I was surprised when I got there the customs officer asked the usual why are you coming. To visit my fiancee. What do you do back home? Im a stay at home mom. How long are you staying. A few weeks. Okay have a good trip. I was totally shocked! I got through and I had worked myself up for nothing...

I think it all depends on the boarder guard that you get. But to be safe if you have ties to your home country such as letter from an employer stating when they are expected to return to work, a lease etc I think it would be good to have in case they ask for it.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAge

Age can become a factor in two ways.

1. You are too young to marry. Generally if you are over 18 you are fine.
2. There is a large age gap between the petitioner and beneficiary (15 years or more). It may be considered a red flag in some areas and result in closer scrutiny of the case. By itself its not a reason for denial.

How much do they look at the age difference, I am from Canada and my Fiancee is from the US and we have about 17 years difference between us. Is that going to cause a problem?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresOnline Status Updates
So I was wondering how accurate checking your online status was on the USCIS website, for K1 Petition, I have heard some people say that they got theres without there online status changing, does that happen often? Also for email/text alerts?

Just wondering cause ours should be approved anytime now but havent seen a touch or anything in over two months :( But I will keep my head up I know it will be here soon enough.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA 1 did not arrive
Holidays definately seem to slow things down for them, before I sent my K1 package in I saw people getting them back in 2-3 days, and then I sent mine in on the 25th right before Memorial Day and didn't get my NOA1 until June 2nd. And I sent in a money order so I was driving my fiancee crazy asking him to check the mail because I couldnt check the bank account for a number... which I regretted after reading people say that you could check on your case number, but I didnt read that until after I had already sent in a money order.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCanadian Recently Denied Entry/Overstay

Nope. All my pages are blank. I'm assuming the pages get stamped when you have a visa, but Canadians don't need tourist visas.

Well I am from Canada and don't have a visa... but they always stamp it when I cross and put B-2 and then a date 6 months from when I enter. They have done it for both trips I took? I dunno...

Maybe it's different at different airports I get my flights at the Ottawa International Airport

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCanadian Recently Denied Entry/Overstay

Hello! First of all, I'm so glad I found this site, as it has really cleared up what to do, what to send, and when to do it all. Thanks so much!

I am a Canadian freelance artist who has spent most of the past year visiting my American boyfriend in LA. As a Canadian, I didn't need a tourist visa to cross, as long as I wasn't going there to work. On my last trip, after Christmas, I ended up staying a week or so over 6 months (my boyfriend fell ill and I took care of him). We came to visit my family in Canada over the summer and upon our return to LA, I was denied entry into the US at Toronto Pearson. The document I have from that says that I withdrew my application to enter, lists my stays in the US (with the last one marked "overstay") and a report from the officer advising me to not attempt re-entry for at least 6 months. This occured about a month ago, July 31st.

My boyfriend and I have decided that the easiest way for us to be together is to just get married, so that I can stay and work there. We are gathering everything to apply for the K-1 fiancee visa.

I'm thinking of including a letter explaining that I was denied and admitting that I unintentionally overstayed my last visit. (And this is absolutely true, since I stupidly thought I could stay as long as I wasn't working while I was there--I didn't have a tourist visa telling me you have x amount of days in the US, etc..)

I'm wondering if including this information is a good idea. I would hate to be denied the visa. After all, the very intimidating and rude border officer who denied me told me "you better get your boyfriend to marry you".

Thanks so much!

Did they not stamp your passport though when you entered the U.S. cause they stamp mine every time I cross the boarder from Canada and then they write in the stamp the 6 month date from when you entered and that visitors stamp expires.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIs Anyone Else Who Filed in June Waiting for NOA2?
I'm not sure what country you are in, but we also got our NOA1 Date of June 2nd (See signature for timeline) and are still waiting, and being from Canada and having to go to the Montreal consulate, which from what I've gathered is one of the slowest ones... I have to wait until November before I can even call to see what is going on and why I haven't gotten an NOA2.... and even when that goes through the wait for an interview is 3-6 months I've heard :S I have really been trying to not think about it lately cause it can really make you feel depressed and sad if you dwell on it, no matter what it will come and patients is the key, it's just not always easy every day :(

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1/K2 interview

I know there have been previous posts about the costs etc.. of petition , medicals,(for each in mtl is roughly 250 for me and 175 for child) and then there is the interview. i have been going over posts for the past week and cant seem to find any concrete info about wether or not at the interview its 350 for both or 350 each..

if someone who has gone through the same thing that knows a definet answer it would be much appreciated.
seems theres not all that much k2 information out there.

I asked the same question a while back because I am also going through Montreal and was told I would have to pay the Visa Fee for both cause they issue a visa in each passport

Ah, that makes alot of sense. still exciting though for me, knowing it's getting there. XD Thanks :3

Yup, I remember when I logged in and saw my first touch how excited it was knowing it was somewhere on someones desk, lol and we got a touch the next day too. 3+ months of waiting and staring at that last updated space is starting to make me looney :) I hope yours goes faster :D And good luck on your visa journey :D :D

aww shame I can't backcheck. But thats epic to know my case got touched on a saturday! XD thanks :3

From what I've seen from a lot of people's timelines, is about a week afterwards, around there everyone seems to get a touch I think it's just when it goes from being disassembled the way you sent it in to being put in their folders and a barcode stuck on it and then on that never ending file of petitions lol...
