K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLong Birth certificate for USC
Does anyone know about what kind of BC Texas issues???? Long and short or just one? Unfortunately my fiance (who is the USC) only has an expired passport and hasn't gotten around to renewing yet... ah, procrastination drives me crazy!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLong Birth certificate for USC
I posted this question in another thread and I think it got lost.....

As the foreign fiance, I have the long version, but does the USC have to send in the long version as well? I couldn't find anything in the guides that make reference to the long BC for the UCS... Did anyone send in the short version and be ok?

Thanks

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFinding humor in the immigration process
I HEAR YOU ON THAT ONE!!!! LOL I think this process is so emotionally draining, nevertheless, we have to go through it.....

Just curious, I was reading your timeline and noticed Craig got denied access to the US and you hadn't even applied for the K-1 yet??? Wow, you must have ran into a grumpy officer or what???? I'm travelling to the US next week and will be filing for the K-1 and wasn't planning on bringing proof of ties in Canada, perhaps I should rethink this????

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCheap Passport Photos
If you have a membership at Costco, they are $5.99 (cdn) for 2, or alternatively, Wal-Mart is pretty cheap too.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUS Virgin Islands & Puerto Rico
I read somewhere that you can get married in on the US Islands as well, since this is part of US land. As a Canadian citizen, my POE in the US will be via land at the 1000 Islands near Kingston where I'll be activating my K-1. I want to make sure I can still fly to the US Virgin Islands or Puerto Rico after I activate my visa to without jeopordizing the K-1.

Anybody know of anyone who has done this? My fiance and I have a very small window of opportunity to get married once I enter the US since he is military so this would be the easiest for us.

THanks
Tanya

I would recommend that you send it in whenever you have stuff ready.... you can always drag your heals when packet 3 and 4 comes along. Besides, the K1 is valid for 6 months from the time of issue and you can always have it extended if need be. I don't plan on moving to the US until end of next June or beginning of July and we submitted our I-129f last week

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTranslation
Sheesh, I wish I had known this.... I had my German police certificate translated by a "certified" translator from the Embassy. It only cost me $25... but in the end, $25 is $25 I could still have in my pocket.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTravelling tomorrow to the US
I'm on my way to the US first thing tomorrow morning. Going through customs is making me nervous as hell!!!! Especially after hearing some people being turned away. Anyway, I'm bringing with me the following docs to show ties here at home in Canada:

-Letter from employer stating I am on approved leave and expected back to work on Sept 5th
-Couple recent pay check stubs
-Mortgage statement and a copy of my online banking showing mortgage and utility bill pay'ts
-A few utility bills
-Truck loan
-My return ticket (obviously)
-My sweetie is taking me on a 5-night cruise to Bermuda so I have those travel docs too.

They'll probably see that I have something going on with USCIS when they scan my passport, I was planning on telling them we just sent in our petition a couple weeks ago... (but only if they ask!) but I don't have the NO1 yet or any copies of anything submitted (my fiance has all that).

Is there anything else that somebody can think of that I might need?

I clear customs at the Ottawa airport before I even get on the plane and I live 5 mins from the airport so if they really wanted something, then I could rush home to get it.... but hopefully I'll get a nice Officer and they'll just let me through.....I'm keeping my fingers crossed and will post my experience at POE when I get to the "other side".

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduressupplement letter for question 18 on I-129F
Our Q18 Supplement was 1 paragraph, about 5 sentences... lol and we have one hell of a story, but I really thought that they didn't need to know ALL of the details of our relationship...you really just need to concentrate on where and under which circumstance you physically at least once over the last 2 yrs.

Good luck!

Congrats! We just sent ours out on Friday too so it's always interesting to see other people's timelines who are filing from the same country :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTouched?
Ok, after getting my NO1 a couple weeks ago, I signed up on the uscis site to track the petition. I keep hearing everyone being "touched", but where to do you actually see this on the site? When I sign on to see my case status, all it says is when it was received and nothing else. Is there somewhere else that I can see if it's been touched at all?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVermont?
I got my NOA2 this week from Vermont as well  And apparently our case is already sent on to the NVC!!! So they are working!!!

Isnt' Vermont helping adjudicate some CSC files? I'm not sure but I swore they shipped a couple thousand over to Vermont a few weeks ago. Maybe thats the reason for all the approvals from CSC. I hope we're soon.

IMBRA Special TopicsLets collect some information about IMBRA effects
FYI - Diplomatic mail (or pouch/bag) is typically sent out once a week at most embassies, irrelevant if they are full or not. (I used to work at one)

I am not sure if this was posted in this thread or not, and I am sorry if they already did, because I am not going to brows thru 60 pages. This actually gives me hope. It seems that they are requesting the approval of the new form by June 9, 2006. It also sounds like it might be done by e-file. Tell me what you think???

http://www.uscis.gov...i-129f_83-i.pdf

I found the '200,000 petitioners per year' number an interesting factoid. Always wondered how many K-1 petitions there were in a given year...

My email from the NVC:

Dear Madam,

Thank you for your inquiry.  When the petition is received at the NVC from the U.S. Embassy, it will immediately be forwarded to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS - formerly known as INS) for processing. All inquiries and submissions of additional documentation should be directed to the CIS office that originally approved the petition.

Regards,
National Visa Center

Not very helpful. I'm assuming that means the NVC hasn't got it back from the Embassy yet. This is really starting to piss me off. Someone has to have the damn file.

YEAH ME TOO!! I wonder if they are even tracking the damn things!! so far rlt seems to be the only one who got a definite answer from NVC about them receiving his petition. Well I am going to raise hell soon, its going to be a month this Monday since the embassy sent it back to the USA!!!

I'm wondering.. someone else said that they were told that the petitions were being returned visa diplomatic mail--I'm assuming that means the same as diplomatic pouch. If so, I think the posts wait until their pouch is 'full' or send once per month, whichever comes first.
If your file is coming from a lower-traffic post, that could explain the delay in seeing it get back to the US.
