Middle East and North AfricaMorocco sex debate rages after imam's death call
Khadija Ryadi President of the AMDH - Under the theme 'The role of the freedoms and human rights movement in Morocco' said that the roundtable was an opportunity for AMDH to send a call for the abolition of Article 490 of the Moroccan Penal Code, criminalizing sexual relations between adult men and women who are not bound by the bond of marriage.

Khadija Ryadi, President of the AMDH, reported by the site Pure Player Moroccan Arab, argued at the meeting for a mobilisation of "democratic forces for a continuing struggle until the secularisation of the state and the establishment of an enlargement of individual freedoms in Morocco, "stressing that" sexual freedom, faith, abortion, eating in public during Ramadan or the right to freely dispose of one's body form the bulk of the claims of the revolutionary Moroccan youth. "

For his part Moroccan sociologist Abdessamad Dialmy present at the roundtable called for what we consider sex between two consenting adults outside marriage as a crime "this should be, instead, a freedom guaranteed by the law, "he pleaded, denouncing the way the double language of the state which he believes should contain principles of law since it violates itself by deriving its legitimacy from religion.

Reacting to these statements, Islamist leader and member of the PJD Abouzaid Mokrie El El Idrissi lambasted the initiators of this call as "secular media aping the West in its most degrading practices."

For Abouzaid, "the West suffers of the decay of moral values ??and family which in no case serve as a model for our society" calling "to return to Islamic values ??such as adopted by the Moroccans for centuries."

Mohamed Hilali, vice chairman of the reform movement and uniqueness WALL, parent organisation of the PJD, treated those who called for sexual freedom as "vestiges of despotism and corruption" for him, they objectify their claim to bring Islamists to power in "a counterproductive debate shuns the true vocation for which they were elected by the people, namely clean government and fight against corruption and absolutism."

Middle East and North AfricaHow many of you saw your significant other online before flying across the country to meet in person?

We chatted on Facebook for hours a day when we first met. I thought it would be easier to chat on Skype, so we started to do that. He had to get a camera, so it took a day or two. We had a lot of technical difficulties there and one of us would type and the other would speak, so it was rather humorous. He was always a gentleman, which impressed me because most guys and cams = trouble. I flew there 6 months after we first met, and was glad that we used the cam, because I knew so many of his mannerisms before meeting him. We now use Oovoo, and don't have the technical difficulties that we were having on Skype (at least so far). I have FB Messenger on my phone, too, so we chat on that most days when we are away from the computer. We use the cam almost everyday, and I can not imagine not seeing him any less...

Middle East and North Africaone more question about documents for getting married in Morocco

Hi again. So I have a good idea as to what documents are needed to marry my fiance in Morocco. But I have a question. Forgive me is this is a dumb question but I really just want to be sure I understand. Does everything need to be notarized? Example: the police department will give me a letter on their letterhead showing I have no criminal record but it will not be notarized. My employer will give me a letter but I know he is not going to go to a notary to sign it. Things like birth certificates and divorce decrees are official but not notarized. Again I realize this may be a dumb question but I am not sure about this and I don't want to end up going with paperwork that will not be accepted. Does anyone know the answer to this? I REALLY REALLY appreciate it! Thank you.

Abbi627,i got married in morocco 2 months ago, the first thing i did was make an appointment with the american consulate in casa, the second,my husband got all the requirements from the tribunal to get marry, so when i got there,i went the next day to the embassy to notarize my passport for a total of 100.00 usa,879.00 DH sep-20-2012,then ,we went the next day to Rabat to make all the papers for the tribunal,to much stamps everywhere lol, after we left all us papers in the municipal tribunal, till they call us to sign the marriage contract on October 5,total 15 days for the process, now, u dont have to notarize any document here, the police report must to has the stamp, your birth certificate, divorce(if apply for u) and the other things u know, the only thing u have to notarize is your passport in the casa embassy,if u have more questions pm me,wishing u a good trip and happy marriage :)

Middle East and North AfricaTips? Pointers? Am I missing something?
[quote name='Ismael&Blair' timestamp='1356508208' post='5888669']
Speaking from experience (this past July) about getting married in Morocco, YES, it does takes a lot of running around and going to different places to get my paper translated, stamped and more stamps.

For us, it was exactly 15 days from start to finish when we were sitting in the office with the adoul signing for our marriage license. My husband and I did prior research and studied the list of items needed before I arrived in Morocco and I had all of the necessary paperwork in hand. I totally felt like a scavenger hunt going from place to place to get each part of the puzzle piece. And when we finally married, it felt so good. It made it even more special because we worked together to do all of the tasks required this versus if we got married in Las Vegas, there would not be a lot of requirements at all (at least not what I imagine)! But I am sure my hubby and I will be honeymooning in Las Vegas when he arrives in the US!

Best wishes and good luck! (L)

i like your post,us marriage was same to the yours  ,running lol
