Not really. It can vary by country, but I am certain a 39 year old woman is mature enough not to concern anybody important.

P.S. Way to go, old man!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAge Difference Conssideration For Visa?
Hi, I am 59 (Richard) and my fiance'(Inna) is 39. We are perfectly compatible but I wonder if our age difference will be a consideration for issuance of her visa. It is not a problem for us, we are both mature adults, we are very much in love and can prove that our realtionship is real. Anyone have any experience with this and any advice? Thank you !

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A Biographical Information Form Question
I just joined the site recently - previously I sent my petition for fiance this past September and received my NOA1 in Sept also. In reading info on this site, I see it is recommended to send 4 copies of the G-325 form with the petition. I only sent 1 copy as I did not see this anywhere in the instructions I had read previously to joining this site. Any advice on what I should do? Anyone else ever in this situation? We are hoping for a NOA2 any time now. I would appeciate your thoughts.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTranslations Necessary for Ukrainian Documents for I-129F Petition?
OK, my petition for Ukrainian fiance is being processed at the Vermont Service Center. We sent copies of her birth certificate, marriage and divorce documents, police clearance, etc. that are in Russian language. We did not have these translated as our understanding was that it was not necessary for use in the US Embassy in Kiev. Any thoughts on this in regards to the VSC? I would appreciate your experience with this. Thanks !

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMedical Exam Required for Fiance's 17 1/2 y/o son?

He cannot get a K-1. He gets a K2. A K2 will allow him to enbter the USA ONE TIME ONLY. Then you need to do an adjustment of status to get him a green card, BUT if he does that he cannot live in Ukraine with Grandma. He would have to reside in the United States. Otherwise you can TRY to get him a tourist visa. Good luck with that.

For a K2 YES he needs a medical exam, pay all the visa fees the same as your fiancee.

Richard, if I may add, you have had a tremendous amount of problems because you seem to refuse to read directions. What you are proposing is not possible. You need to read the guides and instructions very carefully to understand what these visas are and what they do and what you can do. You are not allowed to just have it any way you want, unfortunately.

You can do a K2 and the boy lives HERE or you can do nothing and he lives there. MAYBE he can get a tourist visa, but not likely, especially NOT after your wife is here and is a resident.

We have two sons who also came on K2s and I am going to give my advice and then you can just ignore me if you want. One of our sons is now 17 and will be a citizen in 2 weeks, the other is 20 and will have to wait until 2014.

Bring the boy here, let him live here and let him get his citizenship (it will take 5 years for him because he will be over 19 when your wife gets her citizenship)

THEN he can go live in Ukraine or anywhere he wants for as long as he wants and always have that benefit.

You can request a K-2 any time up to year after your fiancees K-1 is issued, after that you can petition her son, up to age 21 with an I-130 PROVIDED you marry his mother BEFORE he is 18 years old. Otherwise the K-2 and 1 year is your only wiggle room.

Thank you for all your vast knowledge and help. You have obviously been through all this and are much more knowledgeable than I will ever be. I do appreciate you kind help and advice. I dont mean to flood the site with questions; in some cases, instructions require clarity and reassurance is valued from those who have been through the process. Advice such as yours is helpful and on behalf of us "newbies", I thank you very much....

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMedical Exam Required for Fiance's 17 1/2 y/o son?

Your fiancee is getting her K-1 processed through the US Embassy in the Ukraine. The best place for you to get answers in from their website. That should be the first place you go to for answers.

Yes, that is where I have been going for answers as well as here on this website. I appreciate all that have helped me is this journey. There are many knowledgeable people on here that have gone through this experience and therefore, know much more than I do. Thank you again....

Medical Examination

All immigrant visa and K visa applicants, regardless of age, must have a medical exam. It can be done only in Kyiv at the following address:

Clinic for Oil-Refining Industry of Ukraine

8, Mykoly Amosova St.
Kyiv, Ukraine
Telephone: +38-044-270-2709
E-mail address: clinicanafta@rambler.ru or iomkievmhd@iom.int

The Clinic performs medical examinations Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. by appointment only. The results of the examination are given to the applicants at 3 p.m. on the same day.

The fee for a medical exam is not more than $125 per person, excluding the vaccination fee for adults and children. The clinic accepts payments for medical exam and vaccination fees in Ukrainian Hryvnya only.

Each applicant must present the following documentation:

  • International passport (for children below age 16 – travel document of a child with photo or a passport of mother/father with a child’s photo)
  • 3 full frontal view photographs 50 x 50 mm
  • Military service card
  • Vaccination chart with the seal of the issuing clinic (mandatory for immigrants, optional for K visa applicants)
  • Embassy case number beginning with KEV

Fees

  • Applicants 15 years of age and older: $125 USD.
  • Applicants under 14: $110 USD.
  • The cost of a medical exam for the newly adopted children of U.S. citizens under 14: $110 USD and 15 years of age and older: $125 USD.

These are the basic fees for medical examination. Should examinees require additional tests performed or vaccinations administered, they will be charged for these separately.

Vaccination Requirement

(For immigrants only, not for K visa applicants)

Recent changes to US immigration law now require immigrant visa applicants to obtain certain vaccinations (listed below) prior to the issuance of an immigrant visa. Panel physicians who conduct medical examinations on behalf of immigrant visa applicants are now required to verify that immigrant visa applicants have met the new vaccination requirements, or that it is medically inappropriate for the visa applicant to receive one or more of the listed vaccinations:

  • Mumps
  • Tetanus
  • Influenza type B (H1B)
  • Influenza
  • Measles
  • Diphtheria
  • Hepatitis B
  • Rubella
  • Varicella (Chickenpox)
  • Polio
  • Pertussis (Whooping Cough)
  • Pneumococcal

In order to assist the panel physician and to avoid delays in the processing of an immigrant visa, all immigrant visa applicants should have their vaccination records available for the panel physician's review at the time of the immigrant medical examination. Visa applicants should consult with their regular health care provider to obtain a copy of their immunization record, if one is available. If you do not have a vaccination record, the panel physician will work with you to determine which vaccinations you may need to meet the requirement. Certain waivers of the vaccination requirement are available upon the recommendation of the panel physician.

Only a physician can determine which of the listed vaccinations are medically appropriate for you given your age, medical history, and current medical condition.

The validity of the medical examination is one year. If there is a tuberculosis condition, the medical exam is only valid for six months.

Thank you so much ~!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMedical Exam Required for Fiance's 17 1/2 y/o son?

He cant get a K-1 visa unless his fiancee is applying for him.
A Fiance visa is not for visiting its for getting married and staying in the USA. If the son wants to visit only then he should apply for his own tourist visa.
If you are talking about getting him a K-2 visa yes he is required to go to a medical pay for it and go to the interview and pay for the visa there as well.

Yes, I meant a K-2 visa. Where do you see this referenced? I've looked everywhere....

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMedical Exam Required for Fiance's 17 1/2 y/o son?
Hi All,

Briefly, I have petitioned for fiance toward her K-1 visa from Ukraine. We want to get her 17 1/2 y/o son a K-1 visa so he can visit us in the USA but he will return to the Ukraine to live with Grandmother. Is he required to be at the consulate interview or have a medical exam before being issued a K-1 visa? I cant find references on the site relating to this. I appreciate any and all information you may have.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCalled NVC tonite, petitition received !
Hi All ! I called the NVC tonight (603)334-0700 who told me that they had received my approved petition for fiancee on Feb 1 and that it was "in process". I only had to wait 2 minutes for the operator who gave me our NVC case number. I asked what was the typical time for processing, she stated she no idea but it depended on the case load. She was very pleasant and I was happy to at least learn that it had arrived there. One more milestone....

Good luck to all on Visa Journey !

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresOnline vs. Fillable DS-156 Form

did you press 'submit' at the end of the form? it should take you to the next page, which is a 2 page PDF, second page has a big barcode on it and some other lines of things, it's called an EVAF (electronic visa something). First page is mostly the info you just filled out, with a small barcode on the bottom right (in the form).

Thank you, but does this form actually go to the embassy electronically or we just bring it with us to her interview?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresOnline vs. Fillable DS-156 Form
Good Morning Everyone !

We have filled out the online DS-156 Form and followed the instructions "to the letter" but it is not printing out after we have done everything instructed. That being said, will the printable version (non-online version) be sufficient? What happens with the DS-156 electronic form? Does it go to the embassy or is only online for ease of use? Thank you !

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat if I'm abroad during K-1 visa process?!
It would seem like the process for a CR1 is much quicker for those who would previously have done a Direct Consular Filing (No longer possible in Sweden). If your future husband lives in Sweden it might be a lot quicker then a year. I'm linking to a thread where a Swedish couple got their NOA2 in 9 days!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhich service center?
Jeepers it does get confusing, I was living in Boston when I sent it and subsequently moved to Florida (changed address with USCIS) which in both cases (according to the list above) means I should be dealing with the Vermont service center, However my NOA1 stated that I am dealing with the California one  The good part of this confusion is that on the USCIS website the average processing times of the CSC & TSC are 5months whereas Vermont is 9. I am happy with that, I hope you get CSC and that your journey goes quickly, good luck, cheers

cheers guys!

Thanks!

The NVC is only a mail stop for a K1 petition. They will assign your file a case number and send it to the Embassy.

...and with some prodding from my congressman's office the Vermont Service Center finally approved my fiance's K1 petition. Now it is off to the National Visa Center. Considering that the NVC's efficiency puts private companies to shame I'm guessing it will only take a year to forward the visa request to the embassy in Bogota, Colombia for the interview. Is that about right? Thanks in advance.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about 'proorf of intent to marry'
Hello,

We're just beginning this process with the K1 visa and so we have a few questions.

Just for a bit of background information I'm the US citizen and my Fiance is an Irish citizen. We have been together for over two years and are currently living in Dublin together.

We're a bit confused about what information to include as proof that we have plans to marry once we arrive back in the US. We don't have the finances for a full on wedding so we plan to just have an intimate ceremony at the courthouse. Is this going to be okay? Should I just include proof of our engagement such as pictures of the ring, pictures of us shopping for wedding bands, picture of the engagement party?

Thank you for your help,

Cheers

On the G-325A form there's a question that asks for information on the beneficiary's mother and father, for the part where it asks for their current place of residence what should I put if one is deceased? Should I put their last place of residence or just write 'deceased?'

(Sorry, I know I keep asking loads of questions!)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresA few more G-325a questions
Hello again,

I have a few more questions about specific questions and nit-picky things on the G-325a and I'm hoping someone can help.

-For the employment section: should employment dates be written as numbers (Month= 06, Year= 2009), or as numbers and letters (Month=Jun, Year= 2009)? The example for on this site shows the months as two digit numbers but in the pdf form when I scroll over this part it says "type month; 3 letters only; ex Jan).

-For the employment section: My fiance has only been employed three times in the last five years and it says to leave no blank periods, so for the empty lines should I fill in unemployed student or just leave these blank?

-For the employment section: My employment will require additional lines and the sample form on the site says to make note of there being an attachment in this section if needed....so where do I put that? Do I put that note in it's own line?

-Residence section: "Applicants last address outside the US of more than one year"
Since we've moved back to Ireland we haven't lived anywhere for 12 months, so would my fiance put his address from a few years ago (the house he grew up in)?

-Native Alphabet Question: on the forums here I've read not to us N/A, to use none instead or you'll get an RFE, but on the example form on here this question shows to put N/A. Is this a typo?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFolder Presentation...

 I looked at that, don't think it's a good idea. They'd have to take each page out of those pockets one at a time. If they see something like that, they might put off doing yours until the very last, because it would be a huge pain for them. Gather your papers, put them in an envelope, and send it. No frills needed.

Okay, thanks!

My Fiance and I will be moving out of our flat at the end of the month to go live with his mother until the visa is finished processing, the packet should be ready to send off next week so which address should I put on the forms? My concern is that I'll put our current address down and then they'll mail things to this address after we've moved.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCheapest way to ship documents Internationally
Ooh those price quotes are insane! My parents sent me a package from the States to Ireland for $45 and it made it here in a week (the box was approximately big enough to fit two 500g boxes of tea). Perhaps if you're just sending it to your Fiance so he can then complete the packet then you could throw in a small bag of sweets so that they'll write "perishable" on it and it will get there quicker. =)

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresworking on I-129F package and have a QUESTION
1) The instructions for the I 129 F form say to type or print in BLACK ink.I assume the same applies to the G-325A forms.I thought all the signatures should be in black ink too but then i read somewhere here that we should sign our names in BLUE ink because USCIS may think we are not sending originals but copies. What are your experiences please?
We're signing ours in blue ink, I figure it's better to be safe than sorry.

2)This is super silly but i noticed the difference between the paper format in the US (the paper is wider and shorter)and in Europe (longer and skinnier.Could this possibly be an issue since my fiance will be filling out the forms in different paper format in the US and i will be sending him my paperwork (G-325A and Fiance letter of intent)from Europe?
Yeah as the last poster said I don't see this as being a problem.

3)I went to see the specifications on the passport photo (which needs to be part of the package) and it directed to the page where all the photos looked like the visa type of photo witch is 2x2 inches instead of the requirements in european union (where i come from).Passport photos in EU are 3.5 x 4.5 cm.which one should i use?
When you go to get your photos done just tell them you want them done in US format and they should know what you mean. That's what we did and they did it correctly.

4)Am i right to think that all the documents and forms included in the I-129 F package need to be originals?
The only original I'm sending is an original certified copy of my birth certificate (though I have several copies on hand since that one won't be returned). The rest of my evidence has all been scanned into the computer where I've compiled it all into one document to be printed. That way I have the originals for my records and they can be shown at the interview if needed.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAbout to print everything out and assemble

Thanks for the video! It was super informative!

Do most people bind everything together? I think it's a great idea, but I was wondering if it might be trouble for them to receive a binder?

Thanks

They say not to use Binders or any other fancy sort of binding that cannot be quickly disassembled. What I'm doing is using what they suggest which is ACCO Fasteners (they have ones that are built in to brown folders like you see government documents in on TV). With these you have two hole punches at the top of the page.
