IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresdid they need my wife attend to register
Why do you need to register it there? Are you sure you need to? I read you only need to go to "El shahr el 3akary" to register.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAGE DIFFERENCE
Age could make a tad problem, especially cause a lot of men from Egypt (and the Middle east in general) use American women just so they can move to the States, there are a lot of cases where the husband would divorce the wife once he gets his green card, I've seen some even here on Visa Journey.

So my advice would be to prove how bonafide and real your relationship is, put as much evidence as you can. Hopefully that would make it easier. There is a man from Egypt here on Visa Journey who got his K-1 visa after 12 months when it takes 6 months max! Best of luck to you guys!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresTime Line
Once he gets approved and has his stamped passport, he has 6 months to leave, if he doesn't, the visa expires and you'd need to start over.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresflying soon
I just know that you need to give them the little brown envelope. (It has all your papers in it)

And for the AOS, you must provide the original birth-certificate, and you must complete all vaccinations required.

Best of luck.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresOriginal or Copy of Birth Certificate?
Thank you everyone!

I applied for a new extract from the electronic government in Egypt and they sent it 1 day later. I will translate it and bring it on the interview and this should work right??

I'd at least get my original after graduation and I can use it when I apply for AOS. (I seriously don't wanna lose that piece of document)

P.S: Can I translate my own birth certificate and certify that it's accurate?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresOriginal or Copy of Birth Certificate?
I was wondering if you should take your original or a copy of your original birth certificate to your K1 visa interview (US Embassy in Cairo, Egypt)

I'm an undergraduate student and the University has my original B- Certificate, I won't be getting it back until I graduate (I expect my interview 1-2 months before my graduation)

Could an extract I applied for from our E-government work?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMiddle name?
I'm an Egyptian and my fiance is American(my petitionairy) , he asked me for my middle name to fill in the I-129F form, we don't have middle names here, just about 4-5 names, should I use all names (except the very first and the very last) as my middle name then? Copy all names in my birth certificate?

I wonder if there are other Egyptians who dealt with that that can help me.

Thank you!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresGrrr Just Frustrated
It's not fraud if you re-size them, it's fraud if you change something ON the picture, change colors for example. It should be 2*2

Me and my fiance also wanted to send our packet on march 1st, but we had a lot to do and it's harder than it seems, but taking your sweet time is a lot better than being in a rush and overlooking important things. Take your time, cause if you do something wrong, it'll take you so long to correct it!

Goodluck.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresvaccination records lost, fiancee from mexico
In her medical exam the doctor will decide what vaccinations she need and she'll get them in Mexico or after you get married in the US (Cheaper to do them in Mexico though)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTraveling out of USA to visit fiance - Questions
NOA2 is just letting you know you got approved and that your part is done, then it's your fiance's part!

You can leave the country.

The NVC will send your case to the US embassy in your fiance's country, you should learn about what your fiance has to collect and send to the consulate.

Your fiance will need some documents from you for his/her packets

Affidavit of Support, and any divorce certificates from you if you were married before.

Read the guides, try to learn about it accurately! (Really great resources here!)

Good luck :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAge Difference Red Flags?
13 years isn't alot, americans marry much older/younger spouses all the time... it's not their business, you are free to marry whoever you want to, and it's your right! don't worry about the age part. just follow all instructions and you'll be fine :)

Goodluck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresOK to submit I-129 while fiancee in US for visit?
You definitely can, that'll even be better... you'll both need to sign forms and letters together and take passport type photos so that'd be perfect!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F, fiance visa
I'd recommend you'd at least get a legal advice.

As for you being under age, you both need a sponsor if you're under 18.

I suppose you can put your mother's address for now, and when you buy a house or so for your own, you can just file that other documents about changing the address (I'm not sure what it's called) me and my fiancé are going to do that because we want to live in a different state later on.

Why not get married just legally in city hall and have the wedding in December as planned? Most couples do that.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresYoung couple
You have to be at least 18 to get married, and you are, younger couples get married all the times, just make sure she has enough to support you for 10 years, best of luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresForeign Fiance flipping out...
My fiancé is American and I'm Egyptian, he always excites me with our future plans, what we will do, where we'll go, like buying a house, going ice skating, going to Universal Studios and shopping, eating out at a romantic restaurant and travelling in America... this all sounds fun and she will start imaging all of this, America is a beautiful country and there's a million thing you can do, see, and buy!

Let her see the bright side for now.

Keeping call them, if that doesn't solve it, contact your congressman and that will definitely get you somewhere as they must answer him asap.

Good luck to your daughter!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCan you be denied at the border ?
I personally don't know anyone who this happened to, if you do ALL that's required from you and pass all checks and you're legally going there, why would they do that? If your fiance doesn't speak good English, they should call for a translator or you can go with him/her. Don't worry, it is so rare.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures@Germans: Translation of Police Certificate
Exactly. Thank you Otto&Karin.
Make sure you don't lose the BC translation, I know a couple who did and know going through hell to replace it. Translating in the US would rare and expensive.

Whether you need to translate it, or there is already an international translation, it must be in English, that's what I meant really (How you get it turned into English doesn't matter, it's a country by country basis)
J&N*FemaleEgypt2010-05-15 08:43:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures@Germans: Translation of Police Certificate

And you don't need a police certificate for AOS.
PLEASE READ THE GUIDES!

I MEANT THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE! Please read CORRECTLY.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures@Germans: Translation of Police Certificate
Hallo

Wie geht's ihnen!?

I'm not from Germany but I still want to help.

I think you should get a certified translation, just like what you will do with the birth certificate, you just get someone to translate it and sign a paper that basically say he is capable of translating truly and accurately.

When the embassy contact you it should tell you if you should or shouldn't translate them, but I'm guessing you should (For AOS at least)

Glück :)

The first international airport she lands at in the US, where an officer will interview her and take her finger prints. (Usually goes real smooth)

Yea, you should definitely write it in Arabic (It'll probably be in Arabic on his birth certificate anyway), also make sure you got the exact translation of his name, don't misspell it.

Good luck with your visa!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow long before filing Fiance Visa
I also wanna tell you that me and my fiancé got engaged only 6 months after meeting (online) and 4 months after meeting in reality, some people on VJ have been together since 2006 or earlier. But as you know Americans fall in love fast ;)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow long before filing Fiance Visa
There are no ground rules to it... just the proof that you've met within 2 years and you have a true relationship. Start studying and do your homework to be all prepared!

Best of luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow soon to gather requirements
30 K/ year is just great! I think they min. they require is 15 k! :) so you don't need a co-sponsor.

I don't think you need to start now, my fiancé started after we got our NOA2

Best of luck!!!!

Contact me if you need anything :)
J&N*FemaleEgypt2010-05-31 10:01:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow soon to gather requirements
I started gathering things(original birth certificate, passport photos, passport) right after we sent our I-129F, and I will be gettin the police certificate asap (after NOA2) and then translate everything the embassy asks you to.

So that's the best way to go from my point of view cause I'll only have my medical exam left to get... should take about a week or so.

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA1 simple question!!!
If your check is cashed, take the case number printed on its back and create an account at https://egov.uscis.g...CaseCustomer.do

You'll see what is going on with your case then.

and yes you will also get it in the mail, just give it a few weeks.

Good luck.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNon-legal ceremony prior to leaving the UK...
I'm very sorry about your dad, I really hope he gets better.

I think it's totally fine if it's just like a big party or so, no documents or gov involved.

Are you going to get like a pastor/priest or so?
J&N*FemaleEgypt2010-06-13 20:38:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMarried now - can I use K-1 visa still?
I know a couple who did that, they got the K-1 visa and got married in the beneficiary's country and got away with it, and another from the same country, got caught and the visa was revoked. I would never do that, why risk everything, commit a crime and wish for the best? You won't know how to sleep at night. Do everything legally and NO one can deny you the visa.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhy does my fiance's letter say $131 for application fee?

My fiance and I have received the instructions and appointment letter but on both of ours it says visa application fee is $131. Should I ignore the fact that the fees increased and pay the $131 or kiss mi teeth and pay the increase anyway?

Same thing happened with me, I emailed them and they told me yes it DID increase. They just didn't update their packets.

I'm not sure where to post that, but I was wondering if I can extend the 6 months I've to enter the US?

I might need to do that in the future and my visa expires Jan 10th 2011, I know it's still far but I'd like to know what I could do if I can't travel by then.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAfter k1 interview`
They will tell you in your interview if you're approved or not, and they'll take your passport, stamp it, and DHL it to you, within a week or 2, depends on the embassy and the country. You can travel within 6 months of the visa issue date, just take the brown envelope with you!

Good luck.

I don't think he'll even bother asking, most of them just try to do their job fast and have it over with, if he does wonder, tell him it's just cheaper and you wanted to save for a nice wedding, no one hates a humble person!

You should be fine!
