K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduressome help on entering the USA
I don't think he'll even bother asking, most of them just try to do their job fast and have it over with, if he does wonder, tell him it's just cheaper and you wanted to save for a nice wedding, no one hates a humble person!

You should be fine!

What does "front load" the petition mean?

It basically means putting a lot of evidence with the packet.

30 pictures is too much, 6-10 pictures are enough I think.

I met my fiancé on Facebook as well, playing Uno, I got approved last July, 2010, didn't seem a problem at all. (The C.O was interested in hearing actually)

Philippines isn't a high fraud country, specially that both you and your fiancé are Filipinos.

Good luck on the rest of your journey!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI need my SSN for get married?
You do NOT need a SS# to get married! Just take your passport, birth certificate (just in case) and that's about it!

You don't need to file for AOS within the 90 days, breathe! :D All couples I know filed for AOS after the 90 days expired as it needs lots of time to gather.

Just get married within the 90 days, file for AOS as soon as possible.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI am so frustrated
Exactly, you should have made 2 copies... but no use crying over spoiled milk, it is frustrating...just start over, no other option if you want that K1.

Who knows? maybe that packet had some kind of mistake or flaw.

Don't be upset... it'll all work out eventually.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMedical fee
The cost varies, I personally paid $150, just for myself, included shots, blood tests, etc. they should list prices in packet 3 when they send it to you.

Yes, you have to have it before the interview, you send it to the consulate with the rest of packet 3, at leasts that was what happened with me.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureswhat's next?..(after arriving in the us)

What comes first? A celebration I would say!

Then you and your fiancee could go to the Social Security Office to apply for a SSN. Request a marriage license. Get married. Celebrate some more. Open up joint bank accounts and credit cards. Begin to collect information needed to file for AOS, EAD, and AP. Send the AOS package with all 3 forms, necessary fee, and documents. Enjoy your honeymoon period and wait for the next steps to follow in the immigration process!

Remember that you need to marry before 90 days after your fiancee enters the US!

Exactly!! You put it just perfect!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNew here, getting ready to begin the process.. ..(?)
You definitely don't need a lawyer, you need to read more though, postpone sending anything until you become a visa geek.

the I-129F is a separate form, you submit it along with the 2 biographic forms + some other requirements.

Read the guides, they're just great! They have everything you need! Spend time getting familiar with the website :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNew here, getting ready to begin the process.. ..(?)
Isn't she the beneficiary? You don't need to send a copy of her birth certificate with the I-129F, just yours.

Your lawyer is a dork, fire him, you don't need a lawyer, save your money.

She will need to take her birth certificate with her on her interview, that's all.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNew here, getting ready to begin the process.. ..(?)
There's no best route to go, just like there's no right "bed", you just pick what will work under your circumstances best.

If she wants her whole family to attend the wedding, have it in Colombia, but you'll have to live apart while being married for a while.

If you go with the K1, she'll still need to do the AOS, can't leave the country, can't work, but you'll be together since day 1 of the marriage.

Depends on what you TWO could stand to live with.

Best of luck!
J&N*FemaleEgypt2010-09-27 07:08:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPossible red flag?
But you filed AFTER you got divorced, while you were single and FREE to marry, if they ever ask you anything about it during on your interview, tell them that you and your ex wife were separated. I don't think it's a red flag. You can always say you were still just friends while you were married, it's not necessary to lie though.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 Interview
Umm.. he definitely doesn't need your passport, don't give it to anyone! That's how many people can steal your identity.

Unless it's required by the consulate in India, which I'm pretty sure it isn't cause I have Indian friends here on VJ and no one ever said they needed it.

As far as original documents, copies should do, I was never asked for anything original but my birth certificate and my passport, and I'm not the petitioner!

Tell him to relax.

Have him practice the DS forms (here on VJ), I did it months before my interview and it helped A LOT when I received packet 3.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 VISA FOR EGYPTIAN GIRL
Hey, nice to meet you, I too am engaged to an American man, and we are getting married in November :) We filed for a K-1 because I didn't care much for a wedding in Egypt.

You can't apply for a K-1 visa and still have a wedding ceremony in Egypt, a mosque or church wedding are legal weddings, K-1 is for engaged couples only. If you want to have a wedding here you might wanna apply for a spouse visa (K-3 or Cr-1), it takes a little longer than a K-1 but then again, many K-1 visas take longer than others. It might be your best shot.

Read the guides to understand more about your options and let your fiancé read too.

Good luck girl!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 or K-3???

Some light reading, K-3 specific ->
Comparison on K-3 vs CR-1 - http://www.visajourn...ost__p__3060767

K-3 administratively closed - http://www.visajourn...eived-together/

Good Luck !

I see a lot of people, especially lately, applying for K-3, I also thought it was closed down but apparently it's a accepted now along the CR-1 at once.
J&N*FemaleEgypt2010-10-13 10:57:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 or K-3???

We picked K-1 for a different reason - we wanted to be together after we got married. With the K-1 you wait out the visa processing before marriage. With the CR-1, you wait out the visa after you get married.

Yes, that's why we too picked the K-1, I didn't want to spend the first year of marriage apart from my husband, but the CR-1 is really a great route to go, when we started our K-1, we didn't know about the CR-1, otherwise I'd have definitely gave it some thinking!

Marie, whatever you do, don't go the the K-3, it's the worst of both worlds!
J&N*FemaleEgypt2010-10-13 10:51:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 or K-3???
The K-3 is different from the CR-1, in the K-3, you still have to do the Adjustment of Status
J&N*FemaleEgypt2010-10-13 10:26:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 or K-3???
K-1 is faster.

The probability of getting approved is high on either, it just depends on your case.

K-1 is for engaged couples, that means you get married in the States, not Egypt (Just in case you're planning a wedding here)

There's CR-1 too, which is better than the K-3
J&N*FemaleEgypt2010-10-13 10:23:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureskatb el kitab is a legal marriage or not?
Umm yes it is, since the Sheikh will have to go and register it at the "Shahr el 3akari" and will use your fiancé's passport and so on, for it to be legal, so yes, you'll be considered married, and then you can't apply for K-1.

If you must get married in Egypt, forget the K-1 and go with the CR-1, if you want to do the K-1, just ask your parents to accompany you and apply for a tourist visa which has a 50/50 chance of approval.

Some people get married and apply for a K-1, but if the embassy finds out, you'll be denied and banned, happened to a girl I know in Cairo, so don't do this!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMarriage possible?
Technically, you can, no one can stop you from getting married, but visa wise, no, you can't, you go and get married after you get your K-1, if you get married, you won't qualify for a K-1. the K-3 is for married people, not engaged people (you apply later after you get married)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHard decision to make, As many opinions as possible would honestly be appreciated
All I know that my dad was here in the US for my wedding and it made my wedding all that much more special. Some day your kids will ask you "Why wasn't grandpa there?"

I agree your future wife should come first, but also, parents should be able to attend their children's wedding, you know?

Just do what you feel in your heart that is right :)

Best of luck.

I'd like to add one last thing, I was considering travelling alone without my parents and sisters because of the wait, and I AM VERY happy I did not do that, having my family there made me very very happy and I'm not even that close to them!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPetition from Pastor
I don't think the letter would change anything at all, they really don't care if you marry at a church or court as long as you marry within the 90 days. The government isn't based on church.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRed Flag List for visa denial
There is a very long and boring list at the Immigration center on who should be denied a visa, none of those reasons was divorce.(Ex: Over staying, fraud, crime, drugs)

Divorce rates in the US are really high, the CO reviewing your case might even be divorced. Isn't it 1 in 3 marriages will end up in divorce?

Anyhow, it's not their business, just give them the proof that you got divorced and eligible to marry.

Don't worry!

Best of luck.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresChurch Wedding
I read a story here once, when the couple had a religious ceremony (the beneficiary was from Iraq I think) and they hid it and the USCIS found out and accused them of fraud and misrepresentation, and the beneficiary got banned from the US. Think of your priorities.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresChurch Wedding

What about if we will do the church ceremony, after the approval. Can she still enter on K1 or we will need to re-apply for CR-1. As far as I know, church weddings in former russian republics are not considered as legal for the court bindings.

That'd be fraud, you'd be lying. If they find out you'll be denied.
J&N*FemaleEgypt2011-08-30 14:36:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresChurch Wedding
Doesn't the priest or pastor document it to make it legal? I know in Egypt church weddings must be documented, if this is the case then you'll be married and you won't need a K-1, you'd need a CR-1.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHELP!! Need to apply for K-1 but HAVE NOT met!
One of the requirements is that you have to have met in the last 2 years, and you have to prove it as well, don't waste your time, money, effort and CHANCES by applying now. Also, wouldn't it be better for you personally to meet the man you wanna spend the rest of your life with? Algeria is almost settled down now anyways, there are tons of tourists you won't be the ONLY one.

- Lagos is his consulate

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTourist visa denied!
The requirements for a tourist visa and for a K-1 are entirely different! Tons of people from especially 3rd world countries get denied a tourist visa just because they can't prove enough ties to their countries (not because the OP is hiding a horrible reason God forbid!)
I know a girl on VJ that was denied multiple tourist visas and student visas and was approved on the K-1, totally different visas!

The USCIS is not "required" to give any reasons for the denial, sometimes you just need to guess it! The OP already said the reason for the denial.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTourist Visa denied then K1 Fiance visa!! MENA
I agree with Penguin, she is right so please listen to the advice we give you here (that is the whole idea of asking for advice)

They WILL sly and burn you with questions, they KNOW that it is not okay for muslim women to marry a non-muslim man, so expect lots of questions about that. To them, it is odd and out of the ordinary and they have every right to question anyone. That is their job.

K-1 and Tourist visas are entirely different, but they will ask you about it (if you ever applied for a visa/been to the U.S). They won't deny you because your B2 was denied before, so don't worry.

I don't think being a woman really changes much, more than half of the immigrants here are women, so you're not the only case.

I'd request to have my interview in Arabic or maybe French so you don't *mis-speak* in English, if your English isn't good enough.

P.S: Don't compare other countries to the U.S or the U.S immigration system. It really is very different and the most difficult in my opinion.

Best of luck!!
