K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPassed Interview in Minsk
QUOTE (cjgator @ Mar 4 2009, 07:41 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Natasha passed her interview 4 hours ago. She said it was very brief, officer was very nice. She'll get the visa tomorrow after 3 pm Minsk time.

I'll update the VJ timeline later, but for those of you keeping score:

Time from Marriage to Visa: 1 year, 4 days.
Time from I-130 NOA 1 to Visa: 341 days
Time from I-129F NOA 1 to Visa: 334 days
Time from I-130 NOA 2 to Visa: 72 days
Time from I-129F NOA 2 to Visa: 71 days

I'm very happy, but I offer NO thanks to the USCIS system that made this wait so long and the NVC staff who screwed up our package transfer to the embassy, adding an extra six weeks to the wait. YOUR SYSTEM IS BROKEN - HORRIBLY.

Kudos to the Consular staff at American Embassy Minsk. They were awesome, and they did their best to re-assure us and make up for NVC's f-ups.

God knows I hope the Obama administration does something to make this process work better.

And, for any of you who want to defend USCIS and leave a smarmy response about my hammering them (there are a few ususal suspects on here who typically do), I have a message: GO POUND SAND. I don't care what you think.

Finally: Lisa, Narnia, and all of my K3 friends who gave great advice and kept me quasi-sane through this completely insane process, you all deserve the majority of the credit for getting us to this point. For those of you who are finally with your spouses, I'm very happy for you, and for those who are still waiting, I hope it ends soon for you. You deserve it.

thank you everyone for your warm wishes and your help through this very long process. A couple of you have asked about the interview. Her first interview did not go very well. where did we meet. ( this was followed by a very rude question. was this a prostutition web site) I have heard from many people that it is very common for them to ask very personal questions so you might prepare your spouse for this. how many times did your husband come to romania. did your husband come to romania this year, does your husband have children? what are their names, have you ever seen his family, proof of relationship, pictures, dates, anything she had to prove relationship. She did not get visa on first visit because we were missing a couple of papers. we got those papers and went back 3 days later and were given visa the same day. Just a note to anyone who has been married before. I sent original papers proving my divorce to immigration but when my wife went for interview they wanted originals again. I suggest when you get certified copies made you get at least 2 copies. Good luck to everyone in their journey. I will check this site even though my family is here so if I can help anyone else I be happy to

I dont know if this will help but I was in the same situation I had been 11 months. I got very frustrated and sent emails with no help. I called my congressman and they were a little help but then I called the white house. they answered the phone and said they could not help me but they transferred my call to the state dept. They saw the transfer from the white house and they were very helpful. they said they would try to help. my papers were approved the next day and my family is here with me now.. it cant hurt to try this. good luck

Hello everyone. I have a question about my wife and daughers who are here on an I129f visa. We are planning to go back to Romania for a wedding in a few months. I am wondering if this is allowed on I129f. it says on her visa card that she must surrender this card when leaving the country. does this mean she can't come back? Any help would be appreciated

there is no such thing as an I-129F visa... An I-129F resulted in either a K-1 or a K-3 dependant on your circumstances... I will assume K-3 in your situation.

What do you mean by visa card? are you referring to the I-94 arrival/departuer card?

A K-3 is a two year multi entry visa... you can travel until visa expiry... when you surrender the card (I-94) upon departure she would be issued a new one upon arrival.. That is why it is referred to as an arrival/departure card.

thank you for your response. even though my question was very confusing you answered it very well.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionVisa instructions from the U. S. Embassy

Does anybody know if the petitioner's fiancé(e) can pick up the packet with the visa instructions directly from the U. S. Embassy? I fear that the packet has been lost in the mail. It has been more than two months since I received a letter from the National Visa Center stating that my petition was forwarded to the embassy and that my fiancée would soon receive a packet of instructions.

It's been 2 months for me also since i received a notice from the NVC saying that they will forward my petition to the Embasy. That was 5/4/2006 and still nothing.

Looks like I'll be heading back to Bacolod City (Philippines) then end of September to fly back with my honey. A year to the date. Pray, believe God to work it all out and HE WILL. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI am new here - Hello :)

Welcome! Look forward to seeing you in the July Filers forum as well!

Glad you figured out your sig - if you're anything like me, you'll spend hours getting it just so ;)

Oh! And don't forget to tell her which embassy your OH will be interviewed at as well as the Service Center dealing with your petition...

I don't know anything about what happens next, the embassy she'll be interviewed, etc. I have read the timeline graphics but I am, unfortunately, ignorant to specifics about what goes on other than I know that the CSC seems to take forever, and I know I have to send her documents after NOA2 (assuming it gets approved to begin with) but I don't know what embassy either. And what does "OH" mean?

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionAre affidavits from family or friends important?
Thanks for the replies. I don't think there is really any need for affidavits so we're going to send in the package without them. I think we have good answers prepared for any questions they might have. Since we are prepared and ready to answer questions there most likely won't be any.

Thanks again,

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionAre affidavits from family or friends important?
I'm working on my wife's I-751 and was wondering if having affidavits stating our marriage is genuine are all that important?

I have a checklist of about 14 things that I plan to include showing that we have joint accounts and bills, insurance coverage, we jointly own a home with no mortgage etc.. In addition I am planning on including a number of family photos which include my wife and every member of the family. It would seem that if we have a history of family interaction and joint ownership of a home and bank accounts etc. that should be evidence as to the validity of our marriage.

Thanks,

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionK1 Visa Interview

Hello everybody, I have just finished my K1 visa interview. But the consular that interviewed me says he is going to do a background check on me before making his decision. Please, can someone tell me what he means, and how long this will take before getting the result. Secondly, I was asked to pay 385 Euro before the interview, which is more than the visa fee. I really don´t know why this huge fee.

HI ASSW, hope you get your VISA quickly. Just out of curiosity, what consulate did you have your interview at? Barcelona or Madrid?

HOLA YAZZ,

GRACIAS POR TU RESPUESTA... ESPERO DE TODO CORAZON QUE TODO TE SIGA BIEN POR ALLA... NUNCA HE VISITADO SEATTLE PERO TENGO ENTENDIDO QUE ES UNA HERMOSA CIUDAD... TE DESEO MUCHA SUERTE CON TU ESPOSITO...

AHORA TE QUISIERA HACER OTRA PREGUNTITA... JEJEJE

COMO PUEDE MI ESPOSA HACER PARA QUE LE ACREDITEN O PARA QUE VALIDEN SUS ESTUDIOS ACA EN ESTADOS UNIDOS?

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaVISA DE TURISTA B1/B2 (PARA MI MADRE)

Diana

National Visa Center (Dept of State)I-130 Spouse Visa (IR1/CR1)
Hello ALL,

I am new here... I am trying to learn more about the I-130 Visa.... I am getting married on April 18 2008.... I want to see if you can give me an overview of the Spouse visa. I want her to come in to Florida and be able to work as soon as she gets here... This is why I am not considering the K-3.... Sincerely I have almost everything ready for turning in the I-130 package... I am missing only a few things. I wanted to know if it was possible for you to give me a copy of a sample cover letter for a I-130 package. I have looked for one here and have not found one yet. Only a K-1 sample cover letter is available. Also wanted to ask you... what is a "A number" or an "Alien registration number"??? My future wife is from Colombia. They have a "cedula"... this is in Spanish and I really do not know the translation. Any how do you know if this number (cedula) would be the "A number " or "Alien registration number"???

If I do the Spouse visa...not the K-3... which Affidavit of Support form will I have to complete... the I-864 or the I-134? Will this form be sent by me to NVC or to some other agency or will this form be sent to some agency by my wife?

What documents can I submitt with my I-130 package for proof of my ongoing relationship with my wife? I met her on the internet, I've been to Colombia one time... it was in November 2007 for a week, and now I am going to marry her in Aprill 2008. We met back in March 2007. Also what documents can I submitt as evidence of a bonifide marriage???

What in your opinion would you consider most... a K-3 visa or just filing for the spouse visa and waiting??? Sometimes I feel this will take FOREVER... and I have not even started....

I really appreciate your time. If you by any chance have to send me any attachments you can do so to my email... kelvin_omar25@yahoo.com If you think necessary you can give me your phone number and i can call you... I am sorry for bothering with so much but sincerely I am very new in this and I do not know anybody that can help me go through this.

Please provide all the information you can in regards to this visa.

Thank you in advance...

God bless you,

Kelvin

This question is geared towards any that had an interview in Bogota. We would like for my wife to fly direct from Bogota to Florida. As it is right now with the new mailing the visa thing and no longer able to pick it up, do you think we would be able to have it mailed locally in Bogota so she doesnt have to go all the way back to Medellin?

Not very many replies from the Colombian people lately. Maybe my questions are out of the norm. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
