Hey! My fiancé is in Utah! He's currently living in southern Utah but he's originally from the north. It is the most beautiful place I have ever seen in my life, especially in the snow! ^^

Good luck! smile.png hoping people who filed in early October start seeings NOA2's soon so those of us who filed later October/November will see that things are still moving fast! biggrin.png

Utah is pretty gorgeous indeed! I can't wait for the first time my fiance gets to see these beautiful mountains, the valleys, canyons, red rock country, trees, rivers, etc. It's a LOT different from the huge city he lives in in Egypt! (Of course, Alexandria DOES have the Mediterranean Sea. I won't complain about going to visit as often as possible!) I'm going to take a shot in the dark and guess that your sweetheart is in St. George. Am I right? :)

Here's something to cheer us up a little:

http://dashboard.usc...e=2&charttype=1

It looks like the government has been processing more applications than it received in the recent months, even before the shutdown, if I'm reading this correctly. August is the most recent month, but it looks like the government processed more applications in July and August than anytime in the preceding two years and the number of received cases staying about the same all the time. The number of "pending" applications is dropping dramatically, so it looks like they've hired some new employees or expedited things somehow. I'm hoping that continues for all of us. Fingers still crossed!

Hello all! :) I mailed my I-129F packet on October 25th and got my NOA1 on the 31st (California Service Center). Got assigned the Alien Registration # on November 1st and saw the case got touched on November 4th--I assume some standard processing thing. So I'm in the October filer club and in the waiting game to see how the government shutdown will affect those of us who filed after it was over! I look forward to hearing everybody else's stories while we all try to survive this grueling waiting game.

On a personal note, I'm in Utah and my fiance is in Egypt. I flew over to see him last month and filled out all the paperwork with him there. We took a lot of photos and everything to try to make this process go a little more smoothly. Crossing our fingers!

I joined this website after spending many hours reading through other topics where everyone was so kind and encouraging to each other. I joined because I thought this was a community of people who would understand what I'm going through. But I've apparently come across as offensive and haughty, so I apologize for that and have no further interest in the sarcasm and bad feelings being sent my direction. If the administrators would kindly remove this thread, I would appreciate it.

Please think beyond your honey moon phase right now. The immigration is a major test of the relationship. It seems that most men get depressed once that visa petition is filed. And then the adjustment is a bear and some men can not just handle it.

I appreciate you sharing your experience. I am, of course, worried about all of that, but have reason to hope for the best. We actually aren't in much of a honeymoon phase. We've approached our relationship VERY cautiously and calmly from the beginning, talking about it all logically and never getting physically involved in any way. He has tried to treat me with complete respect according to his Egyptian traditions. I hope that makes sense! We're very in love, but not swept away with it

I'm so sorry if I implied only certain types of people were liable to being taken advantage of. I understand that despite my desirable qualities, I'm emotionally weak in many ways due to the nature of my past marriage and divorce. I absolutely adore this man and he seems to adore me, too, like he's coming alive whenever he's with me. I believe that he is sincere but yes, real life tests mean much more than anything else. I hope this is the beginning of something wonderful and recognize I may be wrong. :)

I appreciate your concern! I've thought through all those things, of course. I have my reservations and I take this very seriously. I'm only gathering information right now, exploring all options fully before deciding anything. That includes exploring options that seem crazy on the surface, because sometimes the best solutions are born from creatively exploring very bad ideas. I hope that makes sense.

We would have many, many challenges ahead of us. I'm fully aware of that. To give perspective, I'll tell you that I have a college education, I run a charity in Utah that brings several New York Times bestselling authors, and I'm considered a beautiful woman. I don't say that to brag--I'm saying that because i want to explain I'm not acting out of any desperation. I'm not just a lovely divorcee who is trying to find a man to take care of me.

I'm a woman who has many options, is very intelligent, and who happened to fall in love with a man far away. I've had marriage proposals from men closer, men who are richer, closer to my age, etc. But I love this man! I'm thinking about it very carefully and logically to try not to let my emotion guide me. But I do love him a lot. :-)

I am in Alexandria now for two weeks. If it's possible to marry while I'm here, is that better? It seems that some have experienced longer waits for a spouse visa than a K-1??

Thank you! I only slept 90 minutes last night as I thought through everything, talked to him this morning and ... I'm flying to Alexandria this weekend! This isn't quite as impromptu as it sounds. I've known for a couple months now that my ex-husband will have two weeks uninterrupted with the kids and this only happens once a year. But we just couldn't decide if it would be a good idea to spend the money, not sure about the safety of Egypt right now, annoyed with the curfew, etc. But after reading everything here, I think I need to take this once-a-year opportunity to spend more time with him while I have the chance!

Any other suggestions, please please post anything that might be helpful. What do you mean when you say "front load" the application? I've read that several places. :)

Middle East and North AfricaBeginning K-1 process (fiance in Egypt)

Hello all, I'm just starting the intimidating process of trying to bring my fiance to the United States with me. I want to help everything go as smoothly as possible with the highest chance of approval. I've read a lot of stories on here and I'm a little terrified of all the ways things could go wrong! I'm open to any advice so here is a little about our situation:

* Red flags the embassy might look into: I'm 35 and my fiance is 24.5. I'm divorced with four children. I'm Christian and he's Muslim. I met him while legally separated and all the divorce paperwork had been filed but still awaiting a judge's signature.

* I met him online through a mutual friend late Autumn of 2012, met him and spent time with him while I was in Egypt for two weeks in Feb/March of 2013. I have documentation of that visit, photos of us together, etc. My divorce was signed by the judge May 2013. We became engaged September 2013.

* I am thinking of visiting him again next week while my ex-husband has the kids for two weeks. Not only because I miss him and can't stand the idea that this visa process takes so long, but also because I think it would help the visa process go more smoothly if we can show we've had more time together. Right?

* I'm ultra-aware of the fact that many Egyptians propose to American women to get to the US. I have had multiple proposals from guys who had only known me for about two hours (or two minutes in some cases)--cheeky Egyptians! But I believe my fiance to be sincere for multiple reasons, and I want to make that as clear as possible to the embassy when they review our package.

* Would it help our case at all if we signed the Islamic wedding contract when I visit him in person? I know it's not legally binding in the US but might signal some serious intention on his part? Thoughts?

Advice? Help? Caution? Encouragement??

Middle East and North AfricaAlien Registration Number Changed?

Hi All,

I filed the 129F and have my case number. I received an email today saying my case had been updated, and on the website to see status, it said: On November 21, 2013, your Alien Registration Number was changed relating to your I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E).

What does this mean, how do I get the ARN and why do I need it? Any help is appreciated!

MIne was changed the day after I got my NOA1, so I think it's just the first step in the process there. I haven't heard anything since then. That was November 1st. Good luck to you! I'm also applying for an Egyptian fiance.

Well, just like y'all said, the first step is taking the same amount of time as anybody else! I got a RFE today, 23 days after NOA1. I'm so happy that my case isn't sitting in a box forgotten somewhere for months! :)

Just curious if anybody knows about this. Does the beginning part of this process--at USCIS and NVC--usually take longer for applicants from the Middle East? If so, is it significantly longer? Applications are being processed crazy fast lately and I'm thinking I probably shouldn't get my hopes up along with everyone else. Anybody know?

My fiance was worried about that too and went to a lot of work to get an updated ID and updated passport before we turned in his paperwork. I didn't see why it was a big deal, but it's done now. I think it's probably more of an issue for visitor visas than family visas.

Thank you for your compassion. I know everybody has difficulties in life and mine aren't any more special than anybody else's, but we all go through times of peace and times of hardship and today is just one of those times of hardship that I don't feel strong enough for. I guess I'm about to get stronger.

LizzieBeeNot Telling02014-02-11 00:40:00
Middle East and North AfricaMENA K1 "Vent"

I applied for an expedite because I'm on the verge of losing my home over a technicality and having my fiance here would make it possible for me to keep it. It's the home where my kids have security and continuity after a difficult divorce, and it's my source of income because it contains a legal income property in the basement. I have two special needs kids and a three-year-old. The other of my four kids has been talking about suicide. Just found out today that our expedite request was rejected. So now I either have to lose my house and income, or go get a job and put my autistic son, young daughter, and suicidal son in daycare. FML.

I can't stop crying. This means he won't get his interview until probably June and doesn't want to travel right before Ramadan because that would make our first month together so strange and it would be so hard for his family to have him gone right then. So I won't see him until August at the earliest now. I just can't think. I need him here. I have absolutely no other security net and now I just have to somehow get stronger and do the impossible. I can't even think, I'm so disappointed and upset.

Lots of four-letter words running through my brain. Sorry for the "vent" but isn't that what this thread is for? (And please, be kind in your replies. I just need a little compassion right now.)

If we get approved (AP is the worst part of the process IMO), it will be almost two years since we began the petition when he finally arrives.  I had consulted a lawyer before we began the process, and she told me a year was average.  Back then, I thought that was forever and a day.  Oh, to be just a year would be lovely!

I hope you'll get your interviews at the beginning of February, and things will be speedy and quick for you.  It's so tough to wait for this process.

Just out of curiosity, why did it take three months for you to return your package three? Is there a delay in scheduling medical exams and getting copies of the police records? I'm so nervous about all the unknowns!

THANK YOU for that tidbit. I was wishing they had started on December, but couldn't quite hope yet. My fiance returned his packet 4 the second week of February, so there is hope for us to be in May, even though June is more likely. The embassy is really picking up the pace! El7

PhilippinesThere are currently no appointments available. USEM

I appreciate everyone sharing their experiences here. To say the least, it has been a very valuable source of information and experiences.

To add my own recent experience at St. Lukes, my loved one had the dreaded sputum/culture experience back in October, and received her negative result on Dec 27. At that time, St. Lukes was able to schedule the new embassy appointment for us on January 14 (specified as Visa Priority: SLEC). Hopefully anyone else who is waiting for this type of result can relax a bit more, knowing that they will create a new appointment for you, which can be a lot sooner compared to doing it yourself. From all my searches here, it just wasn't clear to me that they would be assisting us, so it is good to have this information out there.

In the last few weeks I noticed that if you wanted to schedule the appointment yourself, either no availability exists or it was mid-April, which is just crazy and unrealistic. Prior to having St. Lukes schedule the new appointment, I have been very nervous about this, not knowing the dates to plan for, thinking what IF we had to wait until April and have another medical. It's terrible how the NVC delayed us needlessly for how many extra weeks, then to have a 2 month medical delay, and finally to think of several months delay for an embassy appointment--all of this is just too much to bear, but forced to endure.

For whatever reason, it was easy to find a nearby date before the recent typhoon. When I had to cancel the October embassy appointment due to the medical delay, I didn't know if I would have to schedule it myself later on. The embassy information was vague, referring to the results at St. Lukes, and St. Lukes was not helpful until recently to know this, and my congressional representative was ready to help, but they also sound uninformed about how any of this works.

PhilippinesJanuary 2014 Interviews Thread!

My fiancee had her interview on Jan 14, and was given the 221g for some NSO items. I know the embassy received the last item directly from NSO on 1/24, and I keep checking the CEAC website for some other status besides "Administrative Processing" which was last updated 1/28.

From what I've read here, I'm waiting for the status of the CEAC website to show Ready, then Issued? If anyone can shed some light about what those mean, and perhaps the number of days between those items, and how that relates to when 2go finally has it, that would be wonderful.

All of you make this process more bearable. Thanks!

okay I just checked my online status (which has never been available) and it said our case was approved. so we're happy about that! Have you called NVC? when would you suggest we start calling?

Phew! Glad you get to see the cases approved onlineq. :D
I would say wait about 10 days from your NOA2 and check if, first of all, they've received the applications from the USCIS. I've seen several instances here on VJ where some applications get mis-shipped between USCIS and NVC. I don't want to scare you but it s always good to check.

I called Monday and was told the applications were received but not yet reviwed. As per my calculations, people with an NOA2 from 03/26 are getting their case numbers right now so I'll wait til Monday to bug them again.

Still not available online/never was! So hopefully the automated system was correct! Did you get your case and IIN numbers? (what is IIN number by the way?)

I would call them again.
Our cases werent available online either but became so as soon as we were approved. Have you still not received an email confirmation? Did you receive your NOA1 by email?

The IIN number, as far as I understand, is the number which enables you tonpay the fees online.
And guess what, I haven't received my case number nor IIN yet, as there is now a delay for NVC to enter the cases into their system!

that's very annoying for you guys to say the least. I actually haven't received an email confirming our NOA2. Do they normally send out an email? The only thing that makes me feel hopeful that we did get approved was that it was the automatic system that originally said that we had been approved (so not an actual person telling me). I entered my details on the USCIS line and it then told me we had been approved. I then connected to a person to double check and he confirmed that we had been approved and that we should receive a letter in the mail within 30 days describing whats to come next. so I'm optimistic that we did receive our NOA2 because of the fact that the automated system said so. Though in saying that I have no email or letter yet to confirm it. Fingers crossed anyways. Sorry to hear that they are messing you around. Have you tried calling again? I'll keep my fingers crossed for you both and thanks for the heads up

Oh well, if the automated service says so, then it should be! :)
What doe sit say online?
We got our NOA2 11 days ago by email and then received a written confirmation. I shall be calling NVC tomorrow for the case and IIN numbers :)

Hey Yankee Doodle,
I do not want to bring you bad luck, but my husband was also told a whole sort of rubbish by USCIS, that our petition was approved, when it wasn't ...

Hey guys, congrats oh your approvals :)

Should I be concerned that every number next to mine has been approved, and yet when I check online mine STILL hasn't been touched since Febuary 8th? I'm MSCXXXXXXX55 and 53,54,56,57,58 have ALL been approved?!?! Aren't we all in the same queue?!?!?!?!

Hi Jenny,
I don't think we're in the same queue, ours also end 54,55 and 56 and have all been approved.
We went through my husband's Senator as we had some real trouble getting some sense out of the USCIS who tried to dissuade us to expedite the case (my son's autism worsening is not a valid enough reason according to them). The Senator called 04/01, on 04/02 my case was available online and on 04/03 our cases got approved.
Good luck to you, I know these are triing times for all of us here and I am so thankful for this forum!
Keep Smiling :)
