K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsBrunei Police Report requested during interview

My wife needed her clearance from Brunei as well. It took a long time. One of the requirements was to get a request letter for the clearance from the US embassy. They would not give her a request letter until her K1 case was in Manila. As soon as her case arrived, she got the request for clearance from the US embassy and took it to the Brunei embassy. They then accepted the request and filed the paper work. They would not do it any sooner

It took so long, that she did not receive the clearance in time for the interview. She showed them that she applied and was still waiting. They accepted that and she passed her interview without it. That same day, when she went home, her clearance was in the mail, but she never did need it.

Sorry your fiancé went to the interview without knowing about the clearance. Now that you didn't apply for it, they want it. I hope it doesn't take too long. If you don't know exactly what needs to be done to get the clearance, I'm sure I still have copies of the requirements that the Brunei embassy gave my fiancé. I could give you a copy. Just let me know.

Middle East and North AfricaHow come lots of MENA members don't have Pics posted

sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.

I've been wondering the same thing about pictures on VJ. Why not so many? Thanks for the info.

I, however, agree with this statement quoted. There's nothing in my pics that can be used to hurt me. What can someone do, make fun of my big nose? Feel free to look at my pics. I have nothing to hide. I think that pictures are good way for others to get a feeling of who you are. If they don't like me, oh well.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresa copy of ALL pages of the US Citizen's passport???

Zamboanga and surrounding areas suchs as N. Cotabato get scrutinized.

Hmmm. Isn't that were a lot of muslims live?

OP. Like it or not, ratial and religious profiling does occur. It may not be fair, but if you really want things to go smoothly, don't take chances just because you don't agree. I think you were getting some good advice. If you choose to ignore it or get angry at the messenger, you're taking it the wrong way. I don't think anything that was said was meant as an attack.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAdvance Medical at St. Luke's

My wife went back for her results this morning at St. Luke's, and was informed that she would have to undergo the sputum smear/culture. She has to return next week for 3 consecutive days for the Smear, then wait for 8-10 weeks for the culture results. I hope the smear is negative after the 3rd day. This is why I wanted her to get an advanced medical exam at St. Luke's. Her 2 month culture will be finished by 10 May, and, looking at it realistically, even if she had passed the Medical exam, she would not have her interview until May anyway. I highly recommend that as soon as you receive your NVC case number, you get your medical out of the way.

Is this what they do when they belive there has been exposure to TB? I am concerned about this as well. What made them decide to do that kind of test? Was it something they saw in the ex-rays, due to possible exposure, or was it from listening to her breathing? My fiancee will take her medical ASAP just in case they want to do the same for her or her daughter.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsYEA!!! K-1 Visa Petition mailed!

The difference between Priority Mail and Certified/Registered is that Priority mail is delivered within 2-3 days. Certified/Registered means that it has a tracking number in case it is lost. Also someone at USCIS must sign for it therefore you have record they ACTUALLY received it. I am sure everything will be fine with the way you sent it. You will know in the next week or so if you don't get your Notice of Approval in the mail.

Good luck to you!!! :)

I paid extra to have the priority envelope Certified & Registered so I guess I have all bases covered. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsYEA!!! K-1 Visa Petition mailed!

Good luck on your journey! Did you write a check for $340 or $240? :)

Thanks I sent off the $340 because every Where I looked it didnt show a reduction in petition prices, just the visa price at the time of the appointment.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsYEA!!! K-1 Visa Petition mailed!
Finally got all our documents together and mailed off our K-1 Petition today!

I have been reading post that people are saying that it is costing them $30-40 to send certified & registered mail. I just got back from the post office and it was $10.45. Am hoping I did things right. Only thing I can see that would be a possibility for the difference in price is that my petition would not fit in a regular manila envelope, so I sent it in a Priority mail one. Priority mail being a flat rate instead of being weigh could do that I am thinking. I hope so... If that is the case, it is awesome! Another $20-30 saved just on how it is mailed.

Now the waiting starts. :)

The beneficiary is Cuban -- nothing new here, a less than 30 day approval is not unusual for a Cuban beneficiary.

I really don't understand the priority treatment for Cubans, but I have read this a few times. Is there some specific reason?

You're welcome. Yes! I understand exactly what you mean, and we will not allow this thread to get hijacked in such a manner. Yeah, I would do the extensions. You are right. There is no point starting over again when you two love each other and apprehensiveness of a new country, or whatever it may be, is the only thing holding you back. Theoretically, you have 18 months with the petition extensions and visa expiration, but I do hope you guys will not have to push it to the limit.

We do love each other very much! More than coming to a new country, but a bit of a lifestyle change, family as he has never had before (meaning extended as well), a huge support system instead of doing everything on his own is a huge change! I know it can be scary and therefore giving space and time. :) I hope we don't have to go out the full 18mths either, but I will wait until he is ready no matter how long that takes. I am definitely not one to push someone into doing something before ready. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI-129F April 2012 filers

Hey CarolAnn&Eddy. I'm really sorry to here about that. You guys can take your time though. Even after your approval, there is no rush unless you make it one. I am sure your situation is not so uncommon, and I am willing to bet many could share and/or console you in this dilemma if it were posted as a separate topic as it would lead to more attention. As a fellow April filer though, I'm sorry you have come this far just to be confused as to what move you should take next. Remember, you can extend the life of your petition every 4 months up to the year. When you do decide on an interview date, you have 6 months to use the visa. In any case, I hope you guys can come to a happy conclusion.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I decided not to post this as a separate thread because we all know how carried away assumptions get on here by some people. I will definitely be doing extensions as far as I can because I just can't think about starting the whole process over.

Well I have sent off everything that was requested for our RFE. Never thought I would be posting this, but i am soo confused and hurt right now. My fiance just told me the day after I mailed the RFE response, that he has "cold feet" and not ready for the lifestyle change and to move forward. :( I am hoping this is only a temporary "cold feet" and in the future we will be able to move forward. He says it has nothing to do with me, he loves me, we are soulmates, we are best friends, but he just isn't as ready for the big change as he thought he was.

Is there anyone that has gone through this at this stage with their fiances? If so I would really like to hear about how it all worked out.

Just got the e-mail for an RFE... I am pretty sure I know what they need because i forgot to send my bank statements as proof of being in Canada within the last 2 years. So this is definitely a happy day because I know they have finally gotten to our petition and it isn't denied! Now just to wait for the snail mail copy of the RFE to come so I can ship off what they need.

Never thought I would be this happy and excited over getting an RFE. lol

It is getting so exciting and frustrating at the same time seeing the approvals on Igor's list. With an NOA1 date of 4/26 I was watching the approval dates getting closer and closer, hitting all around us. Now it is like CSC went right to May. I know our NOA2 will come soon, but watching May filers getting approved is frustrating. Am very happy though that those filers have not had to wait as long as many on here have to be with their loves. Even though my approximate adjudication date has been moved from 9/21 to 8/22, still keep looking at the September date as the goal for us so if it comes in August, it will be amazing! :)

A good thing tho about the waiting is I got to have 3 weeks with my Baby in Canada and just returned home a couple days ago. :D

Middle East and North AfricaHow have your children been with new hubby/fiancee?

Not everything that we talk about on here is going to apply to every single situation and its good that you are all helping each other.

Unfortunately , when the goal is more to get here, get status and adjust and get papers, which sometimes happens in these relationships, if the kids develop attachments to the person, it really hurts the kids.. Its hard to bond and then be ripped apart from someone who is a stand in for a father figure...

I totally agree with this! Absolutely opinions expressed on here do not fit everyone's situation. I also agree with the second comment here. So many people are so wrapped up in the "process" it makes me wonder where the kids do fit in during all this. I for one even when i was dating here locally did not let anyone meet my kids. I did not want the kids to become attached to someone and then have them be ripped out of their lives as what happened when their father abandoned them. This is why Eddy and I dated for quite a while and close to a year before contact started between the kids and him. Neither him nor I wanted to hurt the kids in any way if for some reason we did not decide to take our relationship further. We both had to be 100% positive we were going to put our all into our relationship and when issues arise agree to find a solution. Kids do not deserve to be put on the side burner so to speak in these processes. I have seen it so many times in marriages and relationships with USC couples and I for one refuse to put any of my children through that.

Middle East and North AfricaHow have your children been with new hubby/fiancee?

thats why it might have been a good idea to get them ready without exposing them to the stress of the visa process to begin with.

Get them ready? Not sure what you are referring to... We had no option other than fiance visa in our eyes. Well I guess I could have just ran off to Canada and married him without my kids being there, but because I am one that has always put my kids first, that will not happen.

My kids have also chatting with my fiance on IM and phone. He asks about their school, how their day went, and is trying to build a relationship.

My kids are excited and just don't understand why it takes so long to get my fiance here. lol

They were heartbroken and so upset waiting for him to arrive on his planned visit in February, when he was denied entry, and was not able to show up. It is hard to ignore the waiting when I get asked everyday if I have heard anything from USICS on our petition.

I am a bit confused on the "touched" part as well. My petition was received on 4/24/12 and my NOA1 received on 4/27/12. Now my status in the USCIS website says "last updated on 4/30/12.

Does that mean it is just moving through the stages already? Sorry I am a newbie at this lol
