K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresStarting the K1 Process

I am still in Thailand and I'm getting all of the paperwork together for my fiancee so we can get the ball roling. I have been reading alot on the paperwork and haven't seen anyone discussing the part where she is going to have to fill out when I'm not here in Tland. Is her part going to going to be very difficult for her to handle? The next ? I have can I send the I-129 from Thailand? And only one more thing is it good to get a Visa/Immigration Law firm to do the paperwork to make sure there are no mistakes?

Thanks

My opinion is that it will not be diffucult for her, at least the application process, since you are there. All she needs to do is make sure she fills out all 4 G325a forms, gets the correct style passport photos, writes a fiance letter of intent, any divorce decrees, and makes sure she signs and dates all forms. And yes, you can send the I-129 from Thailand.

I do not believe a Visa/Immigration law firm will help for the paperwork if your case is strait forward. In fact, I believe it is more likely for you to have a mistake with a law firm because you know your situation best, and you are alot more concerned about it being approved in a timely manner, so you will pay more attention and be more thorough then a lawyer. The paperwork is really simple.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresGetting further info on the status of your K-1
I am starting to wonder about my K-1 petition. Nebraska has seeminly moved on about a week or 2 past my NOA1 date. Yes, I know, they can do odd things, but I still would like to know if I can do anything.

The 'help' line says they will not investigate your petition until it is 30 days past due. Does that mean 30 days past what my NOA1 states, or the current processing times on their website? Is there any other way to find out if you recieved a name hit, or if there is anything else holding up the petition, such as they lost the thing?

You need to cancel the K1 petition and start all over again with a K3 petition so you may want to consider this carefully.

Thanks for the kind words. It seems either the paperwork got lost or there was a name hit. It bothers me that I have no way to find out which happened. Other then that, it is out of my hands, so I can just sit and wait.

Yes I am the agent and I received the letter on the 7th of may...my husband has not yet recieved the letter (no surprise as he is in India). there are no additional fees for visa issuance or biometrics...I just asked this question a couple of days ago wink.gif . My husband has verification of MMR and his family doctor knows of his having chicken pox as a child so he shouldnt need varicella or the MMR, but I dont know if any of these others are required at his age for immigration. I have a table of immunizations recommended for US as listed on the CDC website and there are only these listed (MMR, Polio, Td...influenza and pnuemococcal for those with health risks). I just want some one who has been to confirm what they had to have.

Good Indianheart !

U.S Consulate website says "A $65 issuance fee for immigrant visas is due ONLY IF it has not already been paid to the National Visa Center."

IV—Application is $ 355 and Security enhancement surcharge is $ 45. The total of $355 and $45 is $400. We pay this $400 as IV fee bill. Then where we pay $65 for visa issuance fee ??? Application fee and Issuance fee both are diffrerent.

Please check it out at http://chennai.uscon...ov/iv_fees.html

For non-immigrant visas, U.S has stopped one of the fee (application and issuance fee) to Indian citizens due to reciprocity since India stopped charging one of the fee from U.S citizens. But, we are dealing immigrant visas. Please call Chennai U.S consulate or shoot an email to confirm.

sorry about delay in my reply...there is no mention of packet 4 on the appt letter, this website is mentioned http://travel.state..../info_1335.html
and refers to the medical information. there have been others that have gone through the process that have assured me that there are no other fees to be paid at the consulate because all were paid to NVC, but my husband will have extra money with him just incase. we are preparing for the possible extra fees at the lab as well as the panel physician and hoping that there are no other extra costs (prepare for the worst and hope for the best). I am thinking that the 65$ could be for DCF filers, they do not pay any fees to NVC.
hope this was helpful.

my husband has not recieved his interview letter in India and I sent him a copy of the one I recieved 14 days ago. The Chennai website says the VFS fees have to be paid 10-15 days before the interview and VFS says you have to have the letter to pay them. The interview is JUne 6th, only 9 days from now. I have already sent email to VFS with unsatisfactory responce (you can pay fees with passport and interview letter...I dont think they read the whole thing headbonk.gif ) and I have not received responce from chennai yet. So here I am asking those who have gone through this before, what is the minumum number of days to pay the fees?????? helpsmilie.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedureslist of docs needed for ds230
original documents are kept by issuing authority and they give you certified copies (also refered to as originals). You cant send notarized copies, they must be from the authority where the original documents is housed. The best way is to have them issue 2 of the same document so you will have second one in case of lost or damage. The embassy is supposed to return all originals to you at the time of interview and I would request them at that time. I am not sure why they gave Dani back copies unless they were unaware that is what they were. Just be on the safe side and get 2 of everything for this process, takes to long to get them the 1st time around.

I cant give a complete accounting of the experience but this is what I know.
My husband arrived in Chennai the morning of the 2nd by train and hurried to Lister labs in order to make it my 1030 and be able to receive the report in the evening. I just got off the phone with him and he reported that all was complete, even the visit to the doctor. He had originally tried to contacted Dr. Sanjan John but he was unavailable till the 4th, so he went to Dr. Rajkumar. He thinks he is an american trained doctor and just returned. He received 3 injections, not sure at this time what they were...my husband was in traffic when he called and we couldnt talk long...i will get more information later.
So far everything going well and friday is the big day....YEAHHHHHHH yes.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDS 230 Questions
certified copies are from issuing authority (also called originals, they keep the originals and make another certificate from the original, this way if you ever need another certificate they still have the original information to make the certificate from). the best thing to do is to request 2 documents at the time so you will have one to send to NVC and one for your records.

Q. What is ‘Counter Passport Collection’?

It is a facility whereby you can collect your passport prior to it being couriered to you. Passports will be handed over across the counter ONLY at the VFS application centre in the city where you were interviewed. Please refer to the details and timings for collection in the 4 centres in India:

The following doctors have been approved by the Consulate General to give medical examinations, immunizations and laboratory tests for immigrant visa applicants. The examination and immunizations they provide conform to the standards and terminology prescribed by the United States Public Health Service (USPHS).

All applicants must have tests performed at Lister Metropolis Laboratory. You need not schedule an appointment at Lister Metropolis Laboratory, but should allow several working days before your immigrant visa interview for any follow-up laboratory tests that must be completed. Applicants must appear at the laboratory between 8:00 am and 10:30 am in order to receive their laboratory results the same day.

Lister METROPOLIS Laboratory & Research Center Pvt. Ltd.

Although several panel physicians see patients on a walk-in basis if workload permits, you are strongly encouraged to make an appointment at the clinic of one of the doctors listed below. Please do not schedule an appointment with more than one doctor. If you are unable to visit the doctor with whom you have fixed an appointment, you must cancel your appointment at least two hours prior to the appointment time. Bring the laboratory test results with you when you visit the panel physician. The completed medical reports which will subsequently be given to you by the physician must be brought to the Consulate General at the time of your visa interview. You should also bring three visa-type photos for each family member being examined, as well as complete vaccination records for each examinee.

You should expect to pay the following fees:

Each applicant 15 years-old or older will be charged Rs. 700 for a general physical check-up and administration of vaccinations. (This fee does NOT include the actual cost of the vaccines, for which the applicant will also be charged.) In addition, each applicant 15 years-old or older will be expected to pay Rs. 800 for initial laboratory tests. Laboratory fees may range up to Rs. 3300 if additional tests are required. Applicants less than 15 years-old will be charged Rs. 500 for a general physical check-up and administration of vaccinations. (This fee does NOT include the actual cost of the vaccines, for which the applicant will also be charged.) All fees must be paid in cash directly by you to the laboratory or the panel physician. If further tests are advised by the panel physician at the time of your medical examination, you will be expected to bear the related costs. Normally, children under 15 years of age are not required to undergo chest x-rays, blood tests, or HIV anti-body testing, but they must undergo immunizations and a general physical examination.

Medical reports are valid for a period of one year from the date of your medical examination. The examination must be repeated if the report has expired or will expire prior to your entry into the United States.

Reminder: Vaccinations are costly! Be sure to bring complete vaccination records for each immigrant visa applicant when visiting the panel physician, or you risk having to pay up to Rs. 9000 or more in additional fees.

Police Records
Indian Police Clearance Certificates should be obtained as follows:
  • All Indian IV applicants aged 16 and above, residing in India, should obtain police certificates from the local Passport Office. These are usually more dependable than those obtained at a local level and indicate that the subject had no serious criminal convictions on record at the time of passport issuance. Applicants whose Indian passport was issued within the past six months may present just the Passport Office Police Certificate, and need not obtain additional police clearances.
  • Applicants over age 16, whose passports were issued more than six months previous to visa application, must also obtain a police clearance from the District Police Office serving the applicant's place of residence.
  • Indian passport holders applying for visas outside India should obtain a statement from their local embassy or consulate confirming they have no criminal record.
  • Non-Indian IV applicants residing in India should obtain police certificates from the District Police Station serving their area of residence.
  • Indian police certificates are not available for foreign (non-Indian) applicants applying outside India.
I have read many have had difficulty with getting PCC's with out interview letter, I think if you know some body or know how to ask you should be able to with out difficulty. my husband managed to get his PCC with out any proof of visa application or pending interview. this was Vizag office
