K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMonday is a holiday!

They are Federal civil service workers, and Monday is a Federal holiday.

According to a recent article that was posted here, they are contract workers and do not actually work for the government ;) They are subject to the rules of the contract holder, and not the government employee rules... Having said that I think they have the day off anyway! :P

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiance's Birth Certificate Required for I-129F?
I read too many circumstances where the fiance's name and/or identity was called into question and an RFE issued, so I included it. For example, proving the name on a divorce decree actually is the fiance. I do not see how it can hurt.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFilling out an I-129F

Hi!

I am new here and I hope for your help. When filling out an I-129 F and G-325A can I type all the information in and HAND WRITE the part where it asks for the fiancé’s address aboard in the native alphabet? His address is in Cyrillic. Has anyone encountered this problem before? Will this kind of inconsistency be a problem?

We are just at the beginning of the process and I am very nervous.

Thank you for your help!

I used handwriting for the Cyrillic portions. For the G-325a my fiance did it all in handwriting. I was told this was ok.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresshould I sign and date all supporting documents and proof?

I'm about to send my packet today in the mail and before I seal it up I am wondering if I shoul sign and date all copies of phone bills, airplane tickets, passport copies for my I-129F form? Or should I just leave them as copies and not write anything on them? Thanks for the help!

The instructions ask for signatures on the I-129F form, the G-325a form, the letter of intent, and any translations. It asks for you to print the names on the back of the passport style photos, so you do not need to sign anything else.

..
Unofficially, sign and date everything to your hearts content, it can't hurt and can only help if you come accross an idiot adjucator :P

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresJust applied! How's Nebraska?
Well, in trying to be an optimist I will say this. Now that they have caught up on all their other work at Nebraska for the last month, they are ready to really start knocking out those I-129f applications this month !!! :D

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresJust applied! How's Nebraska?

I just mailed all of the application materials for the K-1 visa today. It took me forever to assemble all of the materials and documentation. Since I am from Illinois, I mailed my application to Nebraska. How long a wait is it there? Does anyone have any recent experience with this service center?

From reading these boards and checking timeline information on Nebraska (I am going through them) , it seems Neb. is so-so time wise. Expect 30-60 days. Maybe more people will post here and give you and me a better idea.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUgh, she opened the envelope from the embassy

My lovely fiancée didn't notice the warning on the envelope that's marked "to be opened by immigration only" and she opened the envelope. This is the envelope giving with the K1 visa that she brings to America.

Any ideas on what we should do?

Thanks

CLOSE IT !! :P

I would call the embassy first. Perhaps they can give her another with an envelope and seal it up. I am sure there is something you can do.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow did you meet your fiance?

There are some here who do not think it is possible to fall in love with someone in a short time, but given the distances, you have to deal with the time you have. Life is short too.

In the end it should not matter how you found your happiness, only that you did.

it`s not only a matter of distances....when something feels so right why would you want to deny it, instead you acknowledge it and work towards building a life together....

my fiance and I were members of the same message board, I was intrigued but rather oblivious.....he, on the other hand, kept close track of my posts and opinions and decide to contact me directly via chat in september of 2005.... we soon addmited to both ourselves and the other that we feel very strongly about each other and decided to do something about it.... we met in person this month, when he flew in to spend a week with me... all nervousness of the first meeting very soon disolved in our first kiss  ...and just a few days ago we started the K1 process :D

Well, my post was actually an attempt to keep the people who like to critisize others about how "significant" time was to building a relationship and how there experience was "much better" because they met in the old fashion way from posting. I see they didn't. They are entitled to that opinion I guess, but it seems ignorant.

Anyway, as you can see from my profile, my fiance lives in Russia so I totally understand long distance relationships !! :D We cooresponded via email like many people here and met in person at the Moscow airport. We had a connection based on our corespondance, but I really did not expect much to happen when we met. But it did ! And I was VERY happy (L) We spent almost all of out time together while I was there, living together. We just seemed very right for each other, so I asked her to marry me on the Russian Christmas day (Jan. 9) and started the K1 process...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow did you meet your fiance?

Everybody, post here how you met your fiance!

I met mine at the airport in Kiev after corresponding by e-mail for months. She was the most beautiful girl that I had ever seen. She called my name when I walked through customs, and I looked up and saw a gorgeous girl with a sharp red coat and a furry red hat.

You might want to post this in the off-topic forum.

I think that is great you met someone and fell in love. There are some here who do not think it is possible to fall in love with someone in a short time, but given the distances, you have to deal with the time you have. Life is short too.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA1 Arrived

I just got my NOA1! It took them 3 days do send it.

Can anybody tell me what do I do now? Do I just wait for NOA2? Can I start to gather financial documents (letter from the bank and employer and so on) or it will be an outdated information when NOA2 arrives?

Can I do it in anvance, so I can send the info to my fiance right away when NOA2 arrives?

Thank you, all!

Yes, you CAN gather some financial documentation, but you do not need to, there is plenty of time. Just keep reasearching what papers you will need along with your I-134. I know how you feel, you want to be doing something, but there is just not much to do. Your NOA2 will probobly not arrive for another 60 days or more, and then a few more weeks at the NVC before your fiance sees any paperwork.

Congrats on the NOA1 though!! It feels so good to have everything started.

just waiting to hear of a few more january NOA2s out of nebraska!! i was also wondering how I can add my timeline to my signature. i cant figure it out for the life of me!! Thanks everyone.

Diana and Enrico

There have been a few January NOA2's from NSC in the last 2 weeks, however they do seem to have slowed down.

You cannot add your timeline to your signature. You can manually edit your timeline however to include the dates. Just go to 'My Controls' link in upper right hand side of screen and find 'Edit my signature'

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresrequest for evidence

i just recieved a letter requesting additional evidence. they want two visa photos of me and my fiancee. my question is why do they need two photos of me? i am here in us. and my fiance is in the philippines. my notice of action was recieved on april 1st 2005. we still have nothing but this request. also my fiance is pregnant with my child is there anyway that we can expedite the visa service? any help will help thanks.

As to why they need 2 visa photos of you, who can say? But they do. They attach them to your file for their records. Your NOA1 was long ago, you certainly have had a long wait. An RFE is a good thing though, as it usually means you will be approved not long after you submit your requested evidence.

The issue of pregnancy has been discussed in these forums several times. There is no way you can speed up the process based on a pregnant fiance. The reasons are many, but if you get your RFE returned soon this should be a moot point as it will get things moving fast, in theory.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI 134 question

your reply dont really make sense lol

his job stability has no bearing on his ability to find a co sponsor

they are looking for your ability to support your fiance in the future, so it may not matter that you only worked for a year just that you can prove that you are highly likely to remain on that same income

Don't be silly, job stability has EVERYTHING to do with finding a co-sponser. Would you sponser someone you thought would not be able to support their mate?

AOS has everything to do with past and not future earnings. Do not be fooled by these responses.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI 134 question

We're not to the I 134 yet, but my mom and uncle kind of got me paranoid yesterday. My cousin went through the whole fiance visa process too and she and my uncle, and now my mom, are convinced that I will have trouble proving my ability to support my fiance because I have only been out of college one year. One of my tax returns will essencially show no income. I've only been at my current job since August but make well above the 125% poverty level requirement and will be employed there next year as well. Should I be as concerned as they are? Are they looking more at past income or future prospectives? Also, I'm going to have my parents co-sponsor, so that should help, right?

THANKS!

Yes you should be concerned. As far as the K-1 visa is concerned, each consulate is different in what they consider what is sufficient to support your fiance. That has been proven by the stories posted here. I do not know the history of the Mexican consulate.

However, you will absolutly need to prove the income for the AOS. If your situation and job are good and stable like you say, a co-sponser should not be hard to find and I suggest you do it.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat is wrong with NSC???

By god they can move the foreign worker visa's forward...I guess imported worker come before family with our goverment. and yes same timeline for three updates!!! something is wrong with that picture...they make absolutely ZERO progress???

Yes, I have noticed this too, and that was my first reaction. But when you think about it, workers permits are not as complicated as a fiance or spouse visa. Finace's and spouse's are assumed to be immigrating for life while worker's are only doing it temporarily with restrictions.

Hang in there, it will happen !

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat does this email after NOA2 mean?
:time:

Hi all. Long time lurker first time poster. Quick question for those of you who are a little further along in the process than me.

Last week I recieved the NOA2 email and a couple days later the actual approval letter.

Today I recieved the following email. Does this mean that they have just now shipped my stuff to the NVC or that the NVC has shipped it off?

Thanks in advance.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRFE Initial Evidence Request

Not that this helps you at all, but I would like to ask if this makes sense to anybody else.

I get that pictures are apparently not good enough for immigration, yea, sure we could all be photoshoping it up... BUT why then are airline ticket stubs and other pieces of paper worth anything?? I sent in pictures and airline tickets, and some other receipts of things from visits, but doesn't all that paper stuff just prove I visited Ireland? In my case, most of the receipts weren't even from the county that James's address has always been as most of my visiting was done while he was at college and a secondary address. If you were to take the pictures out of my pile of evidence, I would not think that it proved anything other then that I was in the country he lives in. Sorry, just a little rant about immigration...

Don't you pictures that show date. I believe there are many digital camera that you can set the date and time before taking pictures. You should have the 2 of you together with date printed when you have your pictures developed. That would show the USCIS that you 2 have met in person along with your passport exit/entry stamps and boarding pass...very important.

good luck to you

Bill

Wow, I already didn't expect this. We were recently touched (March 28). And it says there that we have to wait for another 30 days for them to process our case. So I already stopped checking our status everyday. It just makes me feel more disappointed...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTimeline not updating

Hello All, I'm finally getting started with the K-1 process. Received my Noa1 yesterday. I updated the timeline but it is now not allowing me to view it. I updated the timeline with The Noa1 date then clicked submit, but everytime I try to access my timeline it says that it hasn't been autolinked, even though I went through the correct steps. Is there a time gap as to when it will be updated on the screen, or am I somehow doing something wrong. I know the importance of updating the timeline so thats what I've been trying to do.

Thanx in advance

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNebraska Processing timeline

We're applying in Nebraska too. I'm new here. Between Noa1 and Noa2 what is it we're supposed to do?They send us all the things required? Do I have to worry about the medical and police reports now or wait? :help:

In general, there is nothing to do between NOA1 and NOA2. Just study the guides and understand what you must do before the interview and for the interview, which you have probably already done. You do not have to worry about the medical (the forms come with the interview packet anyway) and I suppose you could get started on the police reports, but there is plenty of time later.

Sit back and wait! It sucks I know, it is what I am doing. This is supposed to be the hardest part of the process though. It is so frustrating that your fate lies in someone elses hand, and the way things tend to get done at the service centers, they don't seem to give a #######.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNebraska Processing timeline

Hi everyone,

I am really confuzed about the processing timelines. After over a month, Nebraska updated its page yesterday.. but for only 2 weeks, from Dec 21 to Jan 7!

We received our NOA1 on Feb 22nd so given this pace, that would mean that we can expect our NOA2 in about 3 months? On the other hand, visa journey gives an average of 70 days from filing to NOA2 (link below) and I noticed that some people that filed past the date given online, already received their NOA2..
this is really confuzing and frustrating, we can't plan anything.. I need to give one month notice at work so I would love to at least have some kind of idea. does anyone know how this really work and what timeframe to expect?

http://www.visajourn...eline/stats.php

It is true you can not fully believe the USCIS dates. Jan 7 is likely used because they have a few that go back to that date and/or they want a cushion for extra time before people call and complain.

Also, Nebraska is slowing down. California has sped up a little bit. If you look over the yearly or year to year statistics this is common. It is hard to predict. Perhaps in July California will be processing in 3 weeks and Nebraska will be taking 16 weeks. IT HAPPENS and its not un-precidented. I know how you feel, but all we can do is hunker down and go through the wait :(

Having said that I will give you my best guess as to your actual approval date. I see they are processing apps from the end of Jan. based on VJ statistics. I say you will see your NOA2 in 5-6 weeks. Thats just my best guess. :)
