Russia, Ukraine and BelarusSo.... how are the driving lessons going?
My first car was a 1967 Mustang. I had access to lots of cars because my father owned an autobody shop. This particular needed lots of work, but it was a former bracket racer so it had a close-ration 4 speed and a narrowed 9-inch rear end to get me started. It was a fun project. I started on it when I was 13. I started driving when I was 14 (shh don't tell the policeman!)

Since it was being worked on alot of the time I also drove... a 72 opel GT, a 72 toyota corrolla, an 82 buick regal (very nice car in retrospect), a 70 impala, a 77 chevy pickup, and a 72 Chevy Nova. I don't know what it was about 1972... they just happened to be the cars I had access to buy cheaply... Oh, this was before I turned 18, then I I got rid of those cars and moved on to others.

Yeah, my Jeep was also on that list.

The people that make such lists are complete morons.

The people that spend $13,000 or $14,000 for an Aveo are the real morons.

I'm sure it's worth the $8000, but I'd take the Jeep first.

How can you rate a vehicle whose main purpose is off-road... on the road? Hence the low rating.

Why wouldn't you expect one of the lowest price point vehicles to rate at the bottom of the list vs. BMW's and say a Lexus?

I think the morons are the ones who interpret without reading or understanding.

I don't understand why this whole driving lessons thread exists. Driving is not very hard people. My wife, who did not drive in Russia, got her driver's license after being here a little less than a month - and a license to drive a motorcycle the following summer. Unless there is some kind of paperwork problem, I dunno why it should take much longer than this.

If everyone was like your wife, then there would be no thread. Obviously you are in the minority. Seems pretty strait forward.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusSo.... how are the driving lessons going?
I taught my wife to drive. We started in a huge parking lot and went REAL SLOW. Don't try and push her, and don't let her out of the parking lots until she can really drive! That is my advice.

Go at night when no one is around in one of the larger employers in the area, or shopping mall. Security may harass you, but whatever, just go home and come back the next night when a more relaxed security guard is around.

It took about a month in the parking lots before we moved to the streets. Don't do any yelling, just be calm and relaxed as you can be. She was ready for the test in about 2 months. She aced the written but had to take the practical 4 times. Each time she did not pass it was 'the end of the world' for her, but anyway... on the fourth try she got nearly 100 percent. Each time she failed she had a female instructor, she had a male instructor the time she passed. Don't know what that means, draw your own conclusions...

Good luck! It sounds like you have everything ready to go.

Just a word of advice to other people who may be in this situation, if for some reason you cannot do your physical, or some other type of "pre-interview" task, go to the interview anyway. They will not deny you based on this, they will only make you come back (not wait in line again) with the information you are missing. Or, you can always re-schedule your interview and it will have no bearing on the embassies "pass/fail" decision.

I just talked to a "nice lady" in Vladivostok Dr. Luchaninova. She is quite a personality. She totally refused to proved me with any information regarding med exam unless I will provide her with an interview letter. I don't have one and my interview in exactly in three weeks. Also Dr. Luchaninova is going to be in Vladivostok only till the end of this week and couple days before I leave for my interview. I have already asked US Embassy to give me an email confirmation about my interview appointment hoping I still can do my medical here. But if it doesn't work, I know it is risky but can I do my medical in one day with IOM a day before interview????

Thank you,

What a pain to leave so far away from Moscow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wacko.gif

You absolutly can do the medical a day before the interview. My memory is hazy, but I believe that is how we did it. I have also read of others who did.

California (and the rest of the U.S.) doesn't carry the pull it once did as being an exotic location. And the secret's out, American husbands aren't the richest and best like they once were. I just don't think women are "so" into doing anything they can to get to the U.S. like they were, say, five years ago. Sure, they still want to come here but now I believe it's more of a "looking for true love" type scenario than a "gotta get the green card."

I agree with what you are saying, but I think you are wrong with the result. Now what you have is the very good looking and educated, yet unscrupulous, women looking for ways to take advantage of the guys who are "left" looking for a "Russian bride". They are the ones who will be jumping all over this.

Take the trip and the money, shake your booty in front of some guys, say good night and good bye, go party with the other girls, then go home and forget all the guys ever existed. Easy vacation I would think.

Sure, there are plenty of girls still interested in true love and all that, but they are not the young, extremly attractive, never married, never had any kids sort of Russian woman. I don't know the politically correct way of saying this, but you can find that anywhere else in the world, why spend all your money on Russia, and/or paying to fly Russian women into the US?

Vaccination Requirements

United States immigration law requires immigrant visa applicants to obtain certain vaccinations prior to the issuance of an immigrant visa. Panel physicians who conduct medical examinations of immigrant visa applicants are required to verify that immigrant visa applicants have met the vaccination requirements. See IV Vaccination Requirements for the list of required vaccinations and additional information.

As a fiancé(e), you are not required to fulfill this requirement at the time of your medical examination for a fiancé(e) visa. However, you may want to do so. These vaccinations are required when you adjust status following your marriage.

There are lots of options though. Check the local community college. Depending on your area, you may also have someplace willing to teach english as a second language without a fee. Russia, Ukraine and BelarusI134 and financial documents

I am prep'ing I-134. To support the financial requirements, I am going to have the following documents along with it:

- My last 5 pay stubs
- Employment verification letter from my employer stating salary
- W2 forms for last 3 years
- 1040 forms for last 3 years (I am not including CA540, I guess its relevent...right?)
- Letter from bank about my checking account balance (its quite useless actually, as its meager balance only used for daily expenses etc)

So, the questions I have is:

1. My annual income from my employement is far more then what is mandated on I134, so I am not including all investments, savings, real estate etc, as I feel its of no use. Please confirm my understanding.

2. 1040 forms - all I have are the signed copies of the originals which I had sent to IRS. Are these copies sufficient?
Do I need to notorize these - notorization would not quite make sense, since it would be like - 'its a true copy of the copy' :)

3. W2 forms - should I send the copies of the W2 forms. I can notorize the copies or do I need to include the originals?

Any thing I have missed out here?

1. You are correct. If you do not need more income then from your employment, there is not need to include anything else.

2. Yes, the copies are ok.

3. Include the orignals of you W2 forms. Anyone disagree?

As I understood your comment, you believed he was talking about a legal marriage in Russia, in which case you would be right, the K1 would be invalidated. But to be clear, having a ceremony without registering the marriage doesn't void the K1, and this is what he's talking about.

I tend to skip over lots of things when I read through here, but it sounds like he is going to do a K1, but do a ceremony without a 'license' in Russia?

If you do, do not use any, or take any of the pictures to the consulate as evidence. Do it, get it out of your system, then pretend it didn't happen. There are many stories where a ceremony took place, and couples were denied, even though no 'rules' were broken.

Read a few forums here, you are bound to find someone who got burned.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusFailing relationships
I think this discussion is right on topic. When you are talking about relationships with Americans with Russians, this cultural difference makes a difference.

I know I do all those things for my wife. I assumed it showed I loved her. To an American woman, it might. To a Russian woman, you better do all those things, and it really proves nothing. Try not doing those things and see what happens... smile.gif

You can agree or disagree with it if you want. You can blame it on whatever you want. It still exists.

This goes both ways I am sure. American woman with Russian men probably have some reverse issues where they think a guy is showing affection, but he is just doing his 'cultural duty' in his mind.

Going back to the original poster, this is probably one of the things going on in their marriage. He is an American man. He grew up conditioned to let the woman be equal, and open her own damn doors (a simplification I know), and after 2 years, he is reverting back. It doesn't mean he doesn't love you, he spent many many years doing that, as it is the accepted way in America. Of course there are probably other things, but this might be one of them.

I don't know anything about Russian women in general, all I know is my Russian wife, and my experiences are in conflict with Mr. Connery. My wife used to microwave cold juice and such when she first came, and now she doesn't. It didn't take any proding from me. And who cares if she likes warm drinks? And all that other stuff about stopping the cooking and having sex... SOUNDS GREAT! But I don't see women out there like that (unpaid), Russian or otherwise, and I would have little respect for them anyways.

My experiences were similar to KG's. Maybe 50% of his "jokes" I can relate with. I feel like I have a strong relationship. And, last I checked, the balls were still swinging between my legs, not hers.
