It took 3 weeks for the DS-3032 to reach my husband in india...thankfully there was James shortcuts to help speed things along. I just hope when the time comes for the interview appt. letter it wont take 3 weeks to reach him.
can anybody tell me the time they waited from case complete to the interview letter being recieved in India?

I don't know about mailing times to India, but this is how it worked for ours (sent to Canada).

Completed at NVC > 15 days later they generated the interview letter.

Received the letter a week after that. So 3 weeks from completion date to receiving the hard copy interview letter.

was that mailed from your embassy or directly from NVC?

You can send certified notarised copies of the orignals. Notarised copies are as good as orignals.

I had concern about sending originals and spoke with nvc...they must be originals or certified copies just as the website says under appointment processing instructions, not notarized copies.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)could I send a faxed copy with ds230 and mail original later?
My husband just renewed his passport and is getting the new PCC (we are doing this because his passport exp in dec and this way he will only need one PCC from passport office instead of one from every place he has lived). The mail is so slow and we still have another week before he will get the PCC I have asked him to fax them to me and then mail them.
My question here is would NVC have a problem with accepting the faxed copy of PCC and adding the original after when I receive it? I hate to have the process slowed down now by 2-3 weeks. would this automatically generate a RFE if I send cover letter with the information about the original to follow shortly? How long does it take for a review after RFE?
any help would be appreciated
thanks

I am keeping positive that the experimental IV bill will work. I sent the full 400$ so I am hoping that is what they look at wink.gif

I think many of us hoping for you the same. You're the brave pioneer smile.gif .

NVC IV fee bill processing is very flakey to begin with. There is something very "manual" about how the payments are accepted.

In August 2007, there was a 1-week window where it seemed all the IV fee payments got lost! (checks weren't cashed either) However, NVC did finally cash the checks and post the payments to the cases 7 weeks after they received them!

In another isolated incident in August, somebody here sent in their AOS fee payment before the AOS fee bill was generated. However, NVC was able to investigate and find the payment and post it to the case faster than if the person had waited to send it in after the AOS fee bill was generated.

Bottom-line, I find it highly unlikely your money will be lost, and any delays you experience because the experimental shortcut fails will be no more than what you would suffer if you had waited for the IV fee bill to arrive. Check the IVR on Saturday, it might be there. And, until a day or two after the IV payment by the other person (who I would keep in touch with right now) here who sent it in on the same day of yours posts to his case, this is all normal delays and there is nothing to even worry about!

I spoke with my husband about taking this risk and we decided just as you said...the time lost if payment was rejected would be no more then the wait for the bill to arrive here.
hopefully there will be no 7 week delay

I just got off the phone with operator at NVC and they do not yet have the IV bill. I find this odd since I sent the I-864 and the check was cashed one week later (and our I-864 is being processed right now smile.gif ).
since this is the experimental IV bill I sent I am very anxious to hear something about it.
Is it safe to assume that if there was a problem with them accepting it there would be an RFE?

QUOTE (coolgt @ Feb 25 2008, 01:02 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
April 15 is the set date for all US citizen to file tax. If you don't file after april 15 it a late return.
hence the requirement from NVC the current tax return and the last two years. yes you can send them your w2 and your last two years return
it will still work fine but. anyone can file their return ahead of the set date of April 15. it save a lot of hassle then wait until april and get your return send in and get an REF from NVC.

that is why the requirement from goverment to get employer to send out W2 is no later than Feb 1.

my suggestion is file your return when u get your w2. ITIN notary can alway done ahead of time.

I have money coming back so I certainly wont wait til april 15th. all I was saying is for them to require 2007 tax statment would be less then fair since the filing date is april 15th. If I owed I would make them wait to the last minute to get money devil.gif

Question is:
When we pay the I-864 bill and send the I-864 form do they check with IRS database and compare results or is it enough to send completed 1040 form and 1099s and w2 ? ( I got both of them)
I am gonna finish my 1040 form but it is gonna be delayed because of W-7 application

My wife is gonna apply for TIN ( W-7 form) so we can file jointly return for 2007
Now, It is gonna take 6-8 weeks to get the, number and process federal tax return.
Since they can not process return until she get TIN, I guess the IRS system is gonna show that I did not file for 2007 tax year.

you send the w-7 in with the tax forms to the IRS, they give the ITIN. as far as the I-864 the taxes are not due til april 15th, how can NVC expect anyone to send this years tax forms in? I sent copies of my w-2's that I will be sending with my tax forms and transcripts for the last 2 years (only one is required). we will soon see if it has been accepted.

I beleive it is always the uscis number for calling NVC. I dont think there is an option because of all the different embassy's around the world there would not be enough time to list those 3 letters (I have just always used the uscis number to get to the automated system...the NVC case number to talk to an operator)

The transcript can be ordered by completing a Form 4506-T (PDF) or calling (800) 829-1040 and following the prompts in the recorded message. There is no charge for the transcript and you should receive it in 10 business days from the time we receive your request. Tax return transcripts are generally available for the current and past three years. If you need a statement of your tax account which shows changes that you or the IRS made after the original return was filed, you must request a "Tax Account Transcript". This transcript shows basic data including marital status, type of return filed, adjusted gross income, taxable income, payments and adjustments made on your account. Tax return and account transcripts are generally available for the current and past 3 years.

will NVC returned all original documents? and where? will that mail all origianl to my parents in india or give it back at interview time.

and will Consulate will ask all the original again at VFS to submit for visa interview?

Please trailmix help regarding this.....

NVC forwards your documents to the consulate/embassy so they are there at the interview. They should not ask you for originals again at the interview.

Technically they are supposed to return the originals to the applicant at the interview - but that doesn't always happen. My Husband had his interview in Montreal on Feb 19th, they did not return our marriage certificate or my divorce certificate. They said they would send them with the visa - they didn't.

I also know that Mononoke28's Husband didn't get any of the originals back at his interview either.

Your best bet is to not expect to get them back, then if you do it's a bonus good.gif

for the standard processing does nvc still receive the original documents and then forward to embassy? there are 2 standard processing embassy's in india and 2 apptointment now and if I am not mistaken they are different it how they receive the documents. I think only the appointment processing have you mail to nvc and then vfs is out of the loop, at least that was my understanding from nvc when I asked them about chennai (chennai and mumbai are appointment processing now).

when your file reaches the NVC you will have 2 other payments to make to them... the first one is for the
I-864 and that is 70$, the next one to follow is the IV fee bill and that as of Jan 1 2008 is 400$. they will not accept or even request your affidavit of support with out the 70$, and they wont ask for your documents with out the 400$ (now 2 embassy's are appt processing in india and NVC will request the original documents and make the appt, I dont really know how the others work). here is a link to see what type of embassy you will be going to.

Hi indianheart,

For how long is the PCC valid? I'm going to need one for my wife in Baroda(Gujarat, India) and was wondering whether she should get it now or not.

Thanks for your reply!

the PCC is valid for 6 months if it is from that passport office. this is the tricky part. if your passport is less then 6 months old a PCC from them is all you need, if your passport is older then 6 months you need to have a PCC from every place you have lived for 6 months or more. the PCC's from the local police offices are valid for one year.

QUOTE (trailmix @ Mar 3 2008, 08:42 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
We discussed that number in the original thread, when Chris was thinking about making the IV fee bill.

Indianheart good for you for giving it a go! Anyway, I used an RFE shortcut that didn't pan out, not sure why, but my advice to to you would be to wait a week - then get a supervisor at NVC involved. To do this you just have to be firm, don't need to give the original operator many details, just let them know that your IV fee bill is taking a ridiculously long time, if you are firm they will put you through.

The operators at NVC told me to ignore the message that another RFE was being sent (for the piece of information that I sent using a shortcut) - my file sat there doing nothing for 5 weeks. Now whether I should have ignored the second RFE or not I don't know, I ended up sending the info again when I got that 2nd hard copy RFE.

In my case I believe they actually sat on our file because I used a shortcut. (no relation to James's shortcuts btw).

Anyway, good luck to you!

I got the impression that it was being sat on just as you say. I asked if I should cancel the check and send another and they said just a min and put me on hold, when they returned they first said it was sent back because they didnt get the barcoded paper with the check and I said I sent the barcoded paper with it. They again said "just a min", when they return to the line they said it is ok no need to send another. I am assuming from that they are going to process it and I asked specifically if I would hear that change in the automated system and they said yes. so I feel like it is going to be processed but I will keep calling the bank for varification of the check to clear and of course I have NVC phone number memorized...I will be giving the system a call tomorrow and sat, if no change a call to operator monday.
thanks for the kudos, someone has to step out occasionally and if not for the brave souls that have gone before we would all be waiting years to get through this.

ChinaYou know you've married a Chinese when.....

when she opens up her own bank acount, when your not allowed to have any money at all,not allowed to see family/friends because shes #1 now fights at drop of a hat, starts taking trips home 2 or more times a yr, tells you to move into the spare room becaues you snore (didnt bother her when you were in china with her)joins 001 chinese women chat or 007 were they help her plan everyting out, keeps everything a secret ,chats on line/ phone with male friends (look out for the green hat)its coming, when u stop being her husband, just the guy keeping her and paying for everything, and yes iam still married to my chinese wife why because everything i owned is in her name now, been married 4years the last 3.5 has been hell you guys think having a chinese wife is good luck and she loves you , dont lose your job or have money problems you`ll see how fast that love packs up and leaves...iam gone crazy living the happy chinese husband i have a great sence of humor that how i lasted this long can only laff at this , so now you know when you marryed a chinese woman

I do not think that is typical for a chinese wife. Sounds like you married a bad one and you're very bitter. I'll bet you had many red flags that you ignored before the marriage too. I'm sorry for your problems, but generalizing them to all chinese with such negativity doesn't seem to fit what the topic was intended for.

I can't wait for my fiancee to come here so I can share her asian ways. She's not chinese, but filipino. I almost bought the super size soy sauce last week in antisipation. I think I might learn to like eating the rice too.

Africa: Sub-SaharanAge Difference

I am 13 years older than my husband and we plan to have a child when he gets here. We have a wonderful relationship based on love and respect and in many ways, he is more mature and more thoughtful than I am. We were denied our K1 visa back in March 2010 for other reasons so we went and got married and re-filed for a CR-1. But he did go through 8 months of AP before the K1 visa was denied and I think a lot of it had to do with the age difference, race difference, religious difference and cultural difference.

Do you really think they denied you for those reasons? I am surprised. Those sound like the differences that many people have when applying for a K1. I'm 12 years older than my fiancee. We have all the other differences too. Did they say why you were denied? There must have been a reason other than the ones you mentioned. I'm sorry it took so long just to be rejected. I hope you have better luck this next time.

Africa: Sub-SaharanSKYPE Evidence - How do I show it?

Maybe I missed the "how to" access the skype evidence. If someone could please state exactly how you can get screen shots? Thank you.

Screen shots of any window can be taken by pressing Alt-PrtScrn, then you can paste the image into Paint, Word, and many other software programs. This is what I did with a random selection of screenshots from my skype history, maybe 8 pictures.
