you will have to decide if adjusting status on the basis of marriage and his passport being recently renewed (after marriage) states that he is single would look suspicious?
dishonesty may come back to bite you...why would your husband's passport be seen by his family anyway and what is there to hide? you just have to think about what is most important

I think if you are requesting a new certificate from the issuing authority you can request or they will automatically put name on certificate at this time. My husbands birth certificate has his name on it (he was born in 1967). It may be the re-issue of the certificate as an adult they can put the name on it (I understand that babies dont get a name immediatly after birth like here in the USA).

the ball is rolling now...I received the case number today by way of the automated phone system at nvc. Now come more questions. I am a bit nervous about having my husband send the original documents to the nvc (the is what the website intructions request) and I am wondering if anyone knows for sure if that is what they want (originals or certified copies only) or would they accept embassy notarized copies? there is time for him to go to the embassy and get notarized copies if they will accept them in leu of originals (this way if anything happens in the mail or if vfs should fall short on their end he will still have originals to take to the interview).
I sent email a week ago and havent received an answer yet and getting through to an operator seems an all day job if not 2 days. I know that we need to do something soon so we are not caught aff guard when the time comes to send it all in.
I really appreciate all the help I have received so far here on VJ and thank you all in advance for any answers you can give me on this.

You must send the originals.

Hope you get a speedy interview!

I managed to get through to NVC and talk to an operator and you are in fact correct about the original's, but the one thing that concerned me was having to also submit originals to the VFS office before and my husband not having any documents to take to the embassy (i always worry about others losing our documents).
As of January 1st all of India will be getting documents from the NVC and no longer will be using the VFS office as a courier...this is good news

National Visa Center (Dept of State)HELP PLZ using barcode shortcut
thanks for the encouragement...I understand what you mean about being in a hurry, I had printed this form 3 times before I got it right (forgot to change the name to mine, the nvc number, and the date. each time after printed i cought something new headbonk.gif )finally got it correct, but I will be more careful for the ones to come.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)HELP PLZ using barcode shortcut
I have been trying to make the barcodes for the upcoming forms. I made the one for the AOS bill and mailed it out, then when I was trying to make the one for the I-864 coversheet it dawned on me that there was the IDAutomation under the barcode. In the short cut there was no mention of this being an issue but when I was resizing I beleive that affects the size of the barcode (I had to insert as a picture into word, it would not just paste). can any one tell me what they did in regard to the IDAutomation and the resizing. Also do you think this being on the AOS bill will cause a problem?

I sure do appreciate all the information every one shares here on VJ. Thanks again

I called on tuesday too and got the same information for us. my husband e-mailed the request for choice of agent(DS-3032) and I mailed the AOS fee bill the same day priority mail. I just hope that this tuesday they will say they received the payment. I wish I had been as ready as you and had the signed DS-3032 in hand to mail with it.
Good luck to us all and may NVC move faster then uscis did.

It would be Chennai.

If you are talking about the release of tax information form, that hasn't been required for quite some time.

Be sure to check the latest version of James's shortcuts here on the VJ Wiki Page:

Thanks Trailmix, I didnt realize there was another update for the shortcuts other than what was pinned on the NVC forums.

another question for you since you have been using the same shortcuts; it states that the I-864 is gernerated on the monday following the processing of the AOS fee and the automated system doesnt reflect that. When I called this morning the system said it had received the bill and fee, is this the the que that it has or will be processed? I hate calling the operators there so I was wondering if you just went on faith and mailed the I-864 packet with out calling? can you advise me what you would do in this situation.
Thanks again so very much

smile.gif Yes, you are overthinking this.

I don't remember if it was the DS-230 or the I-864 package they mailed to me that wasn't even dated until 2 weeks after I knew it had been 'generated' - so your I-864 is probably sitting in the mail room.

The agent copy got sent within the U.S. got sent pretty quickly; got it 2 days after they scheduled the interview.

The beneficiary copy in the international country took quite some time longer. NVC seems to be sending mail internationally by using DHL's Deutsche Post World Net service. Not exactly sure how that service works, but the notice arrived in the ordinary mail about 3 weeks after the interview was scheduled, still just in time.

I believe you could FAX the agent copy if the original doesn't make it to the foreign country in time.

Hi,

All consulates in India have switched to appointment processing from Jan 1st'08. So, your appointed representative(ds-3032) should receive the interview letter from NVC directly.

Hope this helps!

I don't know about mailing times to India, but this is how it worked for ours (sent to Canada).

Completed at NVC > 15 days later they generated the interview letter.

Received the letter a week after that. So 3 weeks from completion date to receiving the hard copy interview letter.
