Your making me happy just reading about it.

smile.gif I dunno what to say! Needless to say, I was very pessimistic about the success of this process. I'm still indifferent to the fact that I've made it this far. I still can't believe it!

Thank you very much!

I hope everything goes well with your situation as well. I read about it and really felt for you as I felt all that same angst.

It was this forum that really got me through some tough times with this process. I sincerely hope everything goes all right for you. I didn't bother with a lawyer in my process. I did it the risky way and just chanced it. Trust me--I came into this process completely pessimistic and unorganized. You, sir, will make it through this. Trust me, I'm not very organized with this kind of stuff, LOL!

Best of luck to both of you!!! You have our prayers for a happy and speedy interview!!!

Thanks smile.gif

Thanks Vann, I'm sure I'll be ok things have a way of working out. I'm not sure a lawyer was needed at this point, I'm feeling a bit lost frankly. I'm fairly careful about everything, I think I should have just handled this, I hired a lawyer because my girlfriend couldn't read english forms well enough, nor I Thai forms. Who knows what's right, I won't give advice on that. Your inspiring me, I thank you. If I had any advice at all, it would be learn all you can about the culture and the language, it will serve you well.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCopies or originals
Okay nevermind about the last part, I see that you can just put "none." Yeah, the huge link at the top that says example forms didn't catch my eye until just now, durr. Is it better to type those in, fill them in by hand, or do they really care?

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCopies or originals

Do I really need to have an actual copy of it, or is a photocopy acceptable?

I thought a photocopy was an actual copy....

Well, I meant like a certified copy, as in, I'd have to go to the courthouse and pay for a few copies of each.

Anyway, thanks a lot! That saves me quite a bit of time and money. I also had another quick question. I was looking at the form G-325a and at the bottom of the page, there's a heavy black box which says "make sure you put in your alien registration number."
What on Earth is an alien registration number? What am I meant to put there? If I'm missing a guide or something that explains it, please let me know. Thanks!

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCopies or originals
Hi guys,
I'm sure this has already been answered somewhere, but I can't seem to find it. For the I-130 and I-129F applications for K-3, on the guide page it says to send in a copy of your birth certificate, front and back, and a copy of your marriage certificate. I have several copies of my marriage certificate, but only one of my birth certificate. Do I really need to have an actual copy of it, or is a photocopy acceptable? What have you guys all sent in?
Thanks for the help. :)

Well I am getting all excited. My fiance called from the airport before he left from Lagos to New York. Hoping he has no problems at the POE, he will be here on Saturday evening at 5:45pm!!!!! He has 4 1/2 hours layover, so I think that is plenty of time. Also the NAA website predicts the flight to arrive 1 hour early.

WOW, wish you luck on your new life together.....

National Visa Center (Dept of State)VISA letter from NVC

I posted on here this morning when will I receive a letter from NVC. Well, got home and in my mailbox was the LETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now it will be forwarding the fiance petition to Casablanca within a week and then he will receive his packet from there letting him know what to do?

Does he still need the I-134 from me? I did not mail him that, I only mailed my BC, more emails to him and letter he sent me, the petition and the 325A forms for both of us and he already has pics and other things.

Will the packet tell him that he needs his medical done and how much it will be? Also , will it tell him where he should go and pay for the visa?

Any input for this will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Congratulations, just curious if you got touch or email from NVC before receiving the hard copy? cause we have the same approval date and so far nothing happened not even a single touch :crying:

Ok, here is what I would like to ask

our marriage documents are in english but the seal and sign are in hindi, so do we need translation for that? or is it ok to leave it just as it is.

hello and happy new year,
are these documents from the arya samaj or also the registration documents? my certificate of marriage from the arya samaj are in both hindi and english, the registration is english only, our documents were approved so far. hope this information helps.

what processing does vfs do? I always wondered if they are involved in whether a visa is issued(do they do the preliminary checks)?

i had talked to nvc about the vfs and i was told by one operator that now that they have change from standard to appointment processing and all original documents had to be sent to them...not vfs. plz let me know if it is different

Asia: SouthNo objection Letter
QUOTE (silent @ Feb 24 2008, 06:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi all,

We have just filed our i-130 but we (more of me the wife) are pretty skeptical that we might get an RFE based on that our marriage wasn't registered.

So me and husband have talked about it and have decided for him to come to India and get the marriage registered if we do get an RFE. The question is the requirement of No objection letter.

He is already married to me, he is just coming to India for registering, so what kind of a No objection letter should he make? and also I do know in India he can have it done by any of the US consulates, but what if would want to come prepared from USA, which department should he contact in USA for such a no objection letter?

Also, since I am from Port Blair, I have talked with a couple of lawyers and registrar office here and they all say it will take around 45 to 50 days to get it, they don't even want their hands to be greased innocent.gif , but I do know and have read other VJ members having it done within 1 week. Just wondering if you guys can show me which lawyer to get in touch with for speeding up the process?

Thanks for any help good.gif

that no objections letter will be the easiest part of this whole process...just go to an us embassy and tell them you need one and they will hand it over with no problem (at least that was the way it was for me). no long line to wait in and the man behind the counter was very nice (this was in delhi). I dont know if our mature age made any difference but it is nothing to worry about. You and your husband have nothing to worry about when it comes to this letter.
we hired a local lawyer (with a little extra cash) to help us through the courts to get the registration quickly (money talks in india). where do you plan to get this done. if in delhi we may be able to direct you to some one. I would have to ask my husband the lawyers name. let me know if I can help

hey guys

I have been married a year and still am waiting for my husbands I-130 to go thru. the reson is that i did not have a coversion certificate. my father is a muslim and my mom is a hindu. i was raised in the hindu religon and have followed hinduizm since i can remember. iam a us citizen and even stayed in india for 90 day to file . the only reson they could give me was i did not convert as per the 1955 hindu marriage act. can any one help me. i have no idea what to do next..... please help

This post is probably better for the appropriate regional forum but USCIS doesn't care about whether you converted. Are you saying you were unable to provide adequate evidence you are legally married because your marriage could not be legally registered in India without this conversion certificate?

yes in india under the 1955 hindu marriage act . even after having a valid marriage lic my case has been denied. its sad but true . even being a us citizen living here where we have the right to practice aNY RELIGON , MY HUSBAND CANT BE TOGETHER .......

Arya Samaj will do conversion and issue a certificate. I converted prior to our marriage and submitted certificate along with registration with I-130 packet. you have to convert prior to marriage according to the law in india. the only other alternative is to return for cival ceramony or return and find arya samaj and convert then do another hindu ceramony.

I didnt get married in any tradition, not pheras or mangal sutra or taali, what ever they call it in diff parts of India.

I just got a indian traditional engagement, thats it.

The officer clearly stated to my fiance that I should apply for K3 and prob that what I'm going to do. I want to fight but not this time, gotta pick my battles. Will go there get married, register it and apply for K3 or DCF (if I can find a job)

This process has already tolled on me, not ready for another long wait of uncertainity (revoking of K1 or Contacting Congressman etc.)

If you want to follow my advice for once it will be, be with your fiance @ the interview, specially if its in INDIA.

Paula&Minya, my apologies that I snapped, hope you understand........

for a k-3 or cr-1 you have to have marriage registration even hindu marriage. I had hindu marriage and went through a lot of hoops to have it registered. I would follow the others advice and fight this wrong that they are doing, dont change what is the reality just to prove them right. if you file for k-3 or cr-1 now you will be admitting you are married.
