Hello fellow Scandinavians! :energy:

So obvi I'm a newbie here on VJ and I just wanted to say hi to everyone on the scando thread :)
We're applying for a I-129F which we filed in November (16 Nov NOA1), It's probably going to take a longer time than expected with CSC.

I've been reading up on different topics here, and decided to join today, and try and contribute to the forum and timeline :luv:

Anyone else in the I-129F process?

I would say most likely you're being penalized (alright, at least unintentionally) for not having met your fiancee online and/or through a dating agency and/or within a couple months of proposing. Sadly, it seems our numbers are few.

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)Petition Denied:Decision for Appeal in 2weeks
Omigod, my heart hurts for you. Maybe add some testimonial letters from friends/family if there's time? Have them notarized if you can add them. Also, if you have receipts that you can match up against your fiance's, round 'em up, tape them to one sheet and make a xerox copy, then highlight the dates, sign the sheet and send to your fiance. Have your fiance do the same, then combine the sheets and rush them to USCIS. These are things that my fiance and I did to show that we were in the same places at the same times.

I hope you'll have good news to post soon. I'm so sorry you have to go through this.

United KingdomOne way ticket

Oh honey, try taking that return flight all the way to LAX (Los Angeles). Highway robbery.

What we've done in a pinch is book a r/t with a bogus return date in order to get the best deal. That return date could be in September and it wouldn't matter. As rates tend to fall around that time, I'd schedule my return trip for that month if possible.

PBJ is spot on. We swear by Skyscanner. We just returned from spending a month in England, and paid way less than an LAX-LHR flight typically costs. Good luck! x

We are getting married twice; on a gondola ride in Newport Beach (followed by a barbecue reception that weekend at my parents' home), and later in England with John's family and friends (his mother will be giving me away). That way, both sides celebrate. Hope it works as well in reality as it does in my head! laughing.gif

Hey everyone! :-) Apologies if this has been posted couldn't see it among the topics. I'm sure alot of us are all going through it! Any ideas on making last minute cash for expenses involved? savings of course help *But* theres lots of other things as we all know and its better to a little over what we need than not enough!

Main question i'm asking is; As i'm leaving England is it worth looking to see if any Tax rebate is owed to me? The way i see it i'm not going to be taxed here anymore but obviously in US instead! I can imagine this being one of those things where if you don't ask you don't get LOL! blink.gif

Thanks in advance for any ideas or help!

I had to giggle about you being "trained on tea"!! His mother does nearly everything in the kitchen, so I sort of try to make myself small and out of the way, but ready to help if she ever asks (she hasn't). However, it seems like everyone makes tea - and when they want tea, they ask if anyone else wants tea, and make a whole pot....

Ah, but stay tuned as I try to make a Yorkshire Pudding for the Sunday roast. Should be a comedy laugh riot ending in a phone call to our neighborhood Round Table Pizza. Good thing John likes their Maui Zowie!! laughing.gif

Pim's might be able to serve as a substitute for Jaffa cakes ... I dunno, as I've never had the latter. They make them in orange and raspberry, and you can find them in just about any supermarket in the U.S. Anyway, I am addicted to them.

This is an awesome thread. I'll be sure to keep Land O Lakes in the fridge for John. As for bread, he loves the King's Hawaiian bread I use for his ham sandwiches, so I don't have to worry about that. And he's got me trained on tea laughing.gif. One of the first things he ever gave me was an electric kettle from Sainsbury's, so we are clear for launch.

Hello all!

I'm just now looking for the best and closest drop off point for my mobile phone and possibly my bag (It's a long trip gonna bring my lunch lol!) before entering the US Embassy because i know it's tight on Security!

Can someone tell me some good places to drop my things off (not at the train station that was mentioned in packet 4 in a link didn't seem like a good idea) or of course show me a link/thread that i've most probably missed! wacko.gif

A while ago i did read on here someone said there was a pharmacy quite close by to Grosvenor Sqaure that does it, but for the life of me couldn't find it on here! directions would be a Godsend too!

Thanks again guys you're help is always the *BeSt* smile.gif

United KingdomVaccinations needed for K1 process?
QUOTE (Nich-Nick @ Sep 5 2009, 03:03 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
You don't have to complete vaccinations to get a K1 visa in London. BUT if you can take care of it all in the UK and get everything documented at the medical in London, your AOS filing will have one less headache.

Just another tip. When you get the NHS nurse to write up your list of immunizations, if you've had chickenpox and they have a record or you have some scars to show, ask her to write that up on your list. My husband told his nurse that his Mum said he had chickenpox in 19xx and she took his word for it. Results= no varicella shot needed.

Amen, and amen. Omigod, we are going through some drama with the Varicella shot, so spare yourself the trouble (and the money) and get your immunizations and history sorted before you leave the UK!!! Get all the shots you can, and either mention the varicella history, or get a blood titre test to confirm varicella antibodies so you can have that on your record. Once you get to the U.S., you'll have enough to do with all the other forms, etc., and shots are expensive!!

I would go as far as to say that Mrs PG is missing the times we spent in England more than me.

laughing.gif John LOVES Southern California, meanwhile I'm the one who misses England. Life in SoCal is awesome ... but it's completely different than life in Colchester and Brightlingsea, where we spent our time. Life there moves a little slower, and people are a bit more quiet and down-to-earth. Total strangers were friendly to us as they walked past with their dogs/families. Everyone walks. I loved pub life, having a shandy with my mother-in-law, hanging out with some great people. Camping at the beach. I loved using public transport. It was Summer, so we were spoiled by great weather (John says wait until we go in the dead of winter, then see how I love it - LOL!). Even doing the washing up after my MIL's Sunday roast was special ... I just love her so much. John and I were driving around in Hollywood the other day, battling people and noise and traffic, etc., and I was so grateful to have a great "happy place" for my mind to wander to!

HAVE A GREAT TIME!!

You're gonna love it, I promise you. I shed tears all the way from Brightlingsea to London on our way to Heathrow (bound for home in SoCal) ... I enjoyed myself more than any person should, anywhere. LOL! The great thing was, I was with my now-husband, so I got to skip the "travel guide" experience and live like a local, using public transport and walking trails, going to pubs with John's mates, camping at the beach and hanging out at my in-law's house.
