K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNewbie! Help needed... with... everything!
Hey Claire! John and I met on YouTube, so no worries, girl! And welcome!

Maybe pool your money (his and yours) together for him to come see you? A face-to-face should help you make a decision that's right for you. You've gotten some great advice on this thread ... all I can add is that if I could do it again, I would've loved to have gone the CR-1 route. John and I were apart for six months (some here have been apart even longer w/K-1); if we had gone CR-1 instead of K-1, I could've lived in England (loooove it) with my honey, married there, filed CR-1, and been dragged back to SoCal by my husband, where a green card would be waiting for him. laughing.gif

Good luck!! rose.gif

Btw, Audy Rob, I couldn't have said it better myself. Although the OP rubbed me the wrong way from the start, I'd hate to see them have a poor visa filing outcome just because they acted on emotion rather than thought. The term "time is money" has never been more true than it is now, in all of our cases.

It's like the OP expected us to do their case for them and didn't want to do any legwork or effort themselves.

I mean, what are they gonna do when the CR-1 people lose their patience? Skip ahead to the N-400 forum?

My husband wouldn't even BE here if it weren't for VJ.

Like duplantisjj, I was a lurker for ages before I filed K-1, and I followed the guides to the letter for both K-1 and AOS. I owe everything to everyone here … any person who ever answered a question, anyone who ever took the time to provide a timeline, any VJ-er who ever offered me support and encouragement. Yes, this is a haaaaard process, but it's so worth it to read the guides and at least take a look to see if anyone has already addressed your question in another thread.

Some people will NEVER get to fully experience all that this site has to offer when their objective is to simply take, take, take without ever planning to return the gift.

QUOTE (enraptured @ Mar 20 2009, 11:02 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I also think I did something really dumb last summer, I had been saving all the phone cards that I had used to call him but I had to move last July and storage was so tight I had to chuck a lot of my stuff out. I threw away the bag of cards thinking I wouldn't need them, but took pics just in case. Would this be acceptable you think...I really have no other way to prove this...

If you topped up any of your phone cards through your checking account (as I did), perhaps you can go into your online account and pull up a few of those times. I printed out a few of the times I topped up, highlighted the dates and sent those in with our petition. Also, if he saved any of his phone cards, he could send those, or make front/back xerox copies of them, sign them and send them to you (as my fiance did for me).

Middle East and North AfricaHow did we all meet our loved one??
I met John on YouTube while he was promoting his DVD (he left two very nice comments on my channel). I bought it (the DVD and his comments, LOL), and we struck up a friendship. Some time later, he came to SoCal for a film festival. He stayed with me, I was his gopher for the festival, all still platonic. At the time, I jokingly introduced him to my folks as "my future husband". laughing.gif On the drive to LAX (for his flight back to England), we realized we didn't want to be apart, and we became exclusive a few months later.

Middle East and North AfricaSaturday
Hello there, I hope you enjoyed your walk on the lake!

Let's see … it's currently John's turn to talk to his mom on the phone, so he's doing that while I wait to talk to her (I love my mother-in-law). We had pizza for lunch, and later we're going out for coffee, then a early evening run and catching up with our TiVo. I love Saturdays … having a lie-in, hanging out … my husband is just a lot of fun to be with.

Middle East and North AfricaEngagement parties? Input please!

~Did you have an engagement party?

Yep, after John received his K-1, I flew over to England

~What was it like? [foods, # of guests, etc] (feel free to add as many details as you want)

It was a blast!

~Where did you have it?

We had it at the local pub with friends and family

~Which family members attended?

My mother-in-law and brother-in-law. John's father was in France at the time.

~Do you think it's mandatory to have an engagement party?

No. We wanted to celebrate the K-1 and our engagement, and nothing is more fun than sitting in the pub with everyone you love, getting hammered and singing cheesy jukebox songs  We had a blast. My mother-in-law and I shared a shandy. It's one of my favorite memories, ever.

Did you include basic evidence of the party in your packet? [photos, receipts, etc]

No. We did, however, include the pics in our AOS packet.

~How much was spent on your party?

Maybe about £200 ($300). The booze was a-flowin,' haha. John's best friends also bought us an expensive bottle of champagne. Honestly, my advice is to keep it simple. We only had drinks, so that's about as simple as you can get. Everyone met after dinner, which kept costs low. If you want to incorporate food into your party, consider a potluck, where everyone brings something. But is it essential for K-1? No. (F)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAffidavite of Marriage

Does any one know what detail information USCIS is requiring in affidavit? What do they mean by third party?

Third party is anyone. He can be your closed friend, your parent, your sibling. The main thing is they are the one who know you relationship well. Make sure D.O.B, address, phone number of the third party and the signature on the letter.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhite sheet - what does that mean?
My fiancee was interviewed last October 2010. She got the blue sheet which tell us to do exactly what you had. She turned the requested documents on November 2010. She had waited for 4 hours and got the white sheet finally. White sheet is the denied letter and the case will send back to NVC. My advice is you got to provide more evidences before the submit. Don't just send what are they requested like the 10 years time life living address or the letter to show more detail about the relationship. I did provided exactly what they asked but my wife still got the denied letter. So, I would suggest you to make another trip. Having a big wedding ceremony. Has some body on your side like your parents, your sisters or brothers or closed friend to write the affidavit support for your relationship. Also, let your wife family to write the letter as the witness for your relationship. you still has 1 year from the date they sent out the interview letter to your beneficiary. so don't rush to submit the documents unless you are sure it will a good ground. contact the consulate for the postpone submit and gather more evidences until you have a strong case. Did you file for Form I-129F or Form I130?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures10 months now and 2 RFE!!!
Hi,
What is exactly request for your RFE. I failed my petition I-129F last year. I filed for I-130 form last March 2011. USCIS sent me the RFE on July 6, 2011 request for bone fide marriage relationship since HCMC consulate sent back the denied I-129F to USCIS to indicate our relationship was not show real. I sent my RFE to USCIS on July 22, 2011 and got approval on August 3, 2011. I would suggest you to gather all the evidence documents at once. My evidence are included my timeline, the letter from my wife with English translation about our relationship, the affidavit support letters from her parents, her sisters and her aunt, my best friend, and my mother, my phone bills, e-mail recorded, yahoo messenger archived, chat, 50 pictures of our relationship from the first day to present, copies of the tickets for my 4 trips to VN, copies of our text message from my phone, my 3 years tax return, my life insurance as the beneficiary is my wife. About my ex-wife, I sent the copy of her driver license to show that she and I are not living in the same roof, her utilities are shown as different address of mine. Try to contact with your ex-wife to get her information ASAP. Try not to avoid by saying that you lost contact with her. USCIS officer won't buy that. Hope it might help you out.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures2nd interview
I filed I-130 for my wife after K1 denied on March 2011. I got the RFE on July 7, 2011 about the bone-fide marriage relationship. I had attached my timeline, my 10 year biographic. You should attached you timeline and your 10 year biographic when you filed for your I-130 to USCIS. As my experience, the more documents you provided to USCIS when you filed I-130 form, the less stress will be on the interview. I think the consulate officer has reviewed your case very careful, the pink slip they already made before the interview. for the weak case, they will try to ask more evidence before their decision. If they required only your work and your living condition in the last 10 years. I would l think you don't have any problem on the date of your submit. however, being with your wife on the 2nd interview will be a good advice. there will be no 2nd interview on the submit documents but if you are there thing will be easier if they request more evidence from you. Good luck. I still wait for my case still at NVC.

Should I mail in my DS230 without my wife's police report or should I wait until she gets it. I don't want to get a RFE.
[
No, you have to wait for the police certified letter otherwise you will get the RFE. Make sure your beneficiary birthday certificate and marriage certificate have to be original copy or you will get another RFE. better wait for completed documents than RFE. Just wait your time and money. Hope your process go smooth.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresdesperate for answers!!!!!

I am in ciudad juarez now and my husbands interview is on wednesday morning. I read on www.immigrantvisas.state.gov the night before we flew here that translated documents need to be notarized. We were not aware of this and are feeling pretty scared and not sure what to do. Does anyone have any advice or have experience at the consulate to know if this is something serious? I have read on here that u don't need the notary. HELP PLEASE!!!!

Don't worried about that the consular officer can notarized for your at their office. If you have a chance to be with you to the interview then they don't need the notarized if the document are translated by you.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsPost NOA 2… Checklist - is it too early?

We received our NOA 1 a few weeks ago and just waiting for our NOA 2.

I travel quite a bit for work, so I want to ensure I have everything with me before the packet 3 comes? I don't want to delay the process any longer. We've already waited so long to be ready to file.

Is it wise for me to start collecting all the data now? I am the beneficiary. Or is it too early? From what I can tell by the timelines and process time estimates, we should be receiving our NOA 2 in the next 2-4 weeks.

Should I go to the police department now and get my clearance? I've never step foot in a police department before so I'm unsure of what I need to ask for. I'm thinking of going to the doctors office and seeing if all my vaccines are up to date. I have a card with all my vaccination information on it? but I can't read doctors writing.

I'm reading the flow charts and guides, and I just want to be completely sure. For documents that the beneficiary needs to send:

This is the list I saw on the K1 visa forms? just making sure I have the appropriate ones bookmarked.

G325-A : We already filled this out and sent it with our original 1-129F package. So we just include a copy?

DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application : I fill this out when I get my NOA 2 notification?

DS-156K : I fill this one out for the interview?

DS-230 : or do I need this one for the interview

TIA.
