K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI134 Example shows no Bank Balance or Property
Greetings everyone,

I am filling out my I134, and I noticed the example form from VJ has no value in the:

"I have on deposit in savings banks in the United States: $ _______________"

and

"I have other personal property, the reasonable value of which is: $________________"

Should I leave those blank?

Tanks,

Dan

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWE MADE IT !!!!
Greetings to all my VJ Friends!!!!

First off, let me say thank you to all of you for your support and prayers.
Today is a very very special day. My daughter and I waited in the cafe on the 4th floor for less than an hour when we saw my lovely fiancee come around the corner with a huge smile on her face and a pink paper (realy it's more peach) in her hand.

With tears in our eyes, we hugged and prayed and thanked God for being so faithful throughout the whole process.

God is good, all the time.

Blessing to all of you on this road...

Dreams do come true!

Dan

CanadaHomesickness
During my first year in the US, (about 3 years ago) I changed all my ringtones from canadian friends & family to the original hockey night in canada theme.... I kept letting it ring all the way to hear it instead of answering. :)

Your post brought smiles to my face, I love poutine...I go to a Dairy farm and buy delicious cheese curds, make my own gravy and homemade fries..and voila, I have my favourite comfort food. French fries and vinegar yum yum, the other thing I found is restaurants do not always have relish for burgers..oh well. My husband (US citizen) loves Corner Gas!

I miss cheese curds so much... probably more than my family. :) Hubby and I once went on a quest to every grocer we could find in a 30 mile radius to see if they had cheese curds or knew of it. People either thought I was crazy, or sympathized with me because they grew up with them too.

Glad to hear there's another US Corner Gas fan. :) I introduced that to my hubby and the inlaws, and once in awhile they'll quote it.

i have yet to try the bangs thing. was thinking of doing that, but the though of hair in my eyes would drive me crazy i think.

When I chopped my bangs, they drove me crazy when I'm not wearing glasses, or when I do wear glasses and they get stuck behind them. However, mine are grown out to my mouth now and have been tamed to stay on the sides, or I tuck em behind the ears :)

i don't know what I want I don't think I want to cut it all off and have it real short, I had it that way before for a lot of years. So anyways I'm just frustrated with myself cause I can't make up my mind. Anyone else get stuck like this?

Yep, I go back and forth through phases, the same way I do with dying my hair or wearing makeup. There's always that adjustment period with a new short cut. Ie. Getting used to the hubby breathing on your neck while you sleep. I just tell myself it'll grow back and do the chop. If I get bored, it comes back and I can play with some med-length hairstyles while it grows back.

CanadaCanada day Acros America
That is so cool! I'm actually hosting a pre-Canada Day party for friends and another canadian who's in the same boat as me. (Day before because people have plans the day of... boo!) But my issue with signing up for that is I don't want my address displayed, y'know? Bummed that there isn't a party closer to Orange County.

But regardless, I'm excited. Hubby's doing a montreal-seasoned tri-tip and I'm ordering squeaky cheese for poutine. XD

United KingdomRecent interviewees - do you have your passport yet??

I feel awful for those of you who still haven't had anything back :(  Good luck to all!

I highly recommend emailing the contact us section on the London embassy on here:

It takes about 5 days for them to respond but they do and they seem to be able to answer your questions a lot better, in my experience anyway.

Tracey&Greg it will arrive I guarantee it! So exciting :)   I decided to go collect mine and it took me 30minutes just to find the door for collections!! I highly recommend having it delivered.

What do you mean by you had it signed for yesterday? Was I supposed to send it off signed or registered? I just sent it regular post, first class...

You had your medical a couple weeks before mine. Have you sent off all your forms including the DS2001 and when did you send them? We should keep each other posted.

I booked a flight out for Oct 16th because I was SURE I would have the visa by then... fingers crossed!!

Tracy&Greg keep me posted on his interview. The woman at the embassy told me that there is a 6wk delay in actually getting an interview date to be sent to you and then it could be 4 weeks for an interview date (about 10weeks then!) I'm wondering if it'll come any sooner ClockWatch2.gif

United KingdomNotice of marriage in UK even if marrying abroad? - HELP

MIght have answered my own questions... but I jsut called them and they said I had to have this if I was a British Citizen!

United KingdomNotice of marriage in UK even if marrying abroad? - HELP

This is more for those who have already done this I suppose, but has anyone else done this?

http://www.hackney.g...tm#.UgEIWr_Iomw

This is the link to my local borough:

Can I give notice if I want to marry / form a civil partnership abroad?

First contact the relevant consulate or embassy for advice about the documents you need. If they tell you that you need a Certificate of Non-Impediment (CoNI), this can be issued (in some circumstances) by a register office. You should make a notice appointment to apply for a CoNI.

You may be able to give notice in Hackney for a CoNI if:

  • you are a British subject
  • you live in Hackney
  • your proposed spouse or civil partner is a foreign national
  • the marriage or civil partnership ceremony will be in a foreign country
  • you have lived in Hackney for at least the 21 full days before the day of your notice appointment

or:

  • you are two resident British subjects (some residence restrictions apply)
  • the marriage or civil partnership ceremony will be in a foreign country.

CoNIs are usually issued 22 days after the notice appointment. You may need to get an apostille stamp for your CoNI to get it legalised before you take it to the foreign authorities. You can get an apostille stamp from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Legalisation Office.

Sometimes we are unable to take a notice for people marrying or forming civil partnerships abroad. Please contact us for advice.

We cannot take a notice for two non-British subjects to get married or form a civil partnership in a foreign country.

See the Foreign and Commonwealth Office advice on marriage and civil partnership ceremonies abroad.

Maybe I'm not understanding it correctly, but is this one more step I need to take before getting married?

My sister said everyone has to do this, not just if you're marrying in the UK.

United KingdomFeeling anxious and worried.

I didn't get an interview date assigned yet. I think Nich-NIck is correct that although the site says Attend Interview and the person on the phone said wait 3 days I think it really is a matter of waiting for the embassy to contact me with a date now. I am hoping to hear something within these two weeks. If not then I'll call around. Anyone have any luck with scheduling an interview? Anyone else send their forms off and done their medical waiting for a date? Let me know your scenario please :)

United KingdomFeeling anxious and worried.

I spoke to 5 different people at the embassy today. 3 at the 6998 number and 2 at the 0000 one, they all contradicted themselves. I have a feeling you're right nich-nick about the scheduling, as one of the women on the phone said I am a 'transitional' case which means all my files were set up before the change over but I'm to wait for the new system. She said I should call back in 2 weeks if I habven't heard anything.

Also, on the usvisa-info site I was able to put in all my details, select a courier and pay the MRV of $240 and I have a receipt for it too. I really am not sure what is going on, but as the new system is being changed over I don't think the embassy does either.

I'm not going to think about it anymore for the day, my brain is mush! Maybe after the weekend more light will be shined on the situation.

we can just keep each other posted :)

United KingdomFeeling anxious and worried.

I am on  VJ every day and I saw that there were some issues with couriers etc and I was also curious with my case status etc so I went rummaging around on various sites.

On the London Embassy site it now states you have to fill in form DS260, I thought '####### another form!?" when I went to where the form was located (ceac.state.gov/ceac) I couldnt figure out my invoice ID, so I decided to call the embassy (contact number 0203 608 6998) and the people on there deal with the usvisa-info.com site info. This was the first I realised there was such a site! He told me I had to set up an account in order to pay MRV, do courier and book my appointment... but in order to do so I HAD to fill in the DS260 form, but he couldn't help me with the Invoice ID because he didn't know where to find it either gaaah! I hung up and decided to do some rummaging. I chose to put in a wrong Invoice ID number and luckily a red alert came up saying contact the NVC if you have forgotten it!

So I called the NVC in new hampshire (tel: +1 (603) 334-0700), which wasn't too long a wait as they had just opened. The lady did the checks and I asked her for it and she just gave it to me.

So I went back and filled in the DS260 and all it said was that I had to fill in DS230 parts 1 and 2 and send to the embasy, which I have done so already, so got  more confused, and decided to check my case status instead which told me that all was fine with my case and that I now just had to wait for an interview!!! So contradicting info about waiting for interview and scheduling an interview.

In the meantime I checked my email, i had gotten a transaction complete email from the usvisa people and when I went back to check my account it said my status was at 'attend interview' stage... but what interview date?? So I called them up, this is when I got told that I should check over the next 3 days as it takes that long to clear the transaction and that once it's done I can schedule an interview, hmmm not sure about all this so I called the embassy main number 0207 49990000 and the lady there simply said that I had to wait about another 2 weeks for my interview date. So again conflicting info!!!

Right now I'm going to just wait for a few days and try everyone again on Monday and see what has happened.

I had my medical on the 22nd so it's been a while so my case is all in their system. I'm hoping its on the new system and I can go ahead and book my interview date.

United KingdomFeeling anxious and worried.

I also sent off my forms on July 11th but not signed. I assume they have my records. I got told today I had to set up an account on the usvisa-info.com and select the K visa option, pick a courier servie and pay MRV and that it will take 3 business days to process the transaction, after which I am to go back to the site and select an interview date and time.

So it might be that we don't wait but we have to do it ourselves perhaps? Have you done any of that?

Anyone else had this happen? I have paid the $240 (150 UK) and have the receipt of it.

United KingdomCourier. Contacts. Changes. Confusion.

This was just posted on the consulate review page of someone who had an interview in London on July 30th

http://www.visajourn...filter=5&topic=

He mentions that they asked for his email and phone number and no pink slip when he showed up.

This whole change over is really concerning, also as their systems seem to be down it's not a good sign for those waiting for interview dates to come through.

If anyone can update the embassy information page with new phone numbers that work and emails etc I think it would be good. Right now I have no idea where to look or who to call anymore :/ I still have a couple months before I fly out but it's still disconcerting to say the least.

Thanks!

United KingdomCourier. Contacts. Changes. Confusion.

I think I found some info, this is from the embassy FAQs:

I am applying for a K visa; will the change in call center affect me?

The Immigrant Visa Unit at the Embassy will continue to process your application and schedule the appointment; however, you will be required to pay the MRV application fee to the new call center prior to attending the Embassy for an interview.  From July 26, you may pay the fee online by debit card via http://usvisa-info.com

Thank goodness!

Explains the new NIV system and still says it's DX who do their courier service?

I'm so confused!! does the NIV apply for K1s who are waiting for interview dates? I guess not since we are told to wait for our date to be appointed to us right?

This is such a pain!

United KingdomLondon Courier delivery question

So I paid for the MRV and picked a location to pick up the passport from a DX office. Now all I'm reading is that they deliver to your house? I know they were giving that option, which was $30, to be delivered to your house, but if I opted out of it... is that still OK? Can/should I change it to house delivery instead? What do people recommend?

I'm thinking of calling the embassy people who deal with the couriers (0871 156 6666) but it's an extortion to call, if anyone can give me any help it would be much appreciated... my interview is in 2 weeks Thursday.

I paid the MRV but don't have an interview date yet, the site let me do it all no hassles ... will this mess me up?
