K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresStatement Concerning Termination of Former Marriage
Greetings Everyone,

Man, preparing for the interview is getting intense. I was told by my fiancee that I need to write a statement concerning the termination of my former marriage.

Does anyone know what this letter should say?

Thanks,

Dan

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI live in Los Angeles area. Why does this site tell me to send my I-129F to Texas?

Expedited cases are reserved for active military personnel, I seriously doubt they will move up your case because of ill-made plans.

On average, it takes about 6 months to receive approval of the petition for the K-1. Then you have another couple of months for the interview, medical exam, etc, so you're looking at 7-9 months if everything goes smoothly.

In a MAJORITY of my search of timelines, it takes less than 200 days...

and perhaps you should do some research into the expedition requirements yourself because I have seen there are many grounds to base it on beyond the needs of military personnel - (including "Severe financial loss").

Although you are a bit negative and condescending, I thank you for your insight.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI live in Los Angeles area. Why does this site tell me to send my I-129F to Texas?
We wouldn't actually process any legal paperwork involving our wedding...

It would be for our families & friends that have already booked flights and recognizable to them and under God & NOT legally binding so I'm not sure why such an event would void our whole process?

We could do that on any visit and it is not ILLEGAL... Its a ceremony and party?

I'm not asking the government to recognize it w/ a marriage cert. I'm only asking that we get the "wedding date" we want and not lose all our deposits and such on the vendors.

Maybe I can expedite due to potential financial loss?

Its still 6 months away, not 60 days for goodness sake!

I've also read it could do us some good by noting our Wedding date on our paperwork cover letter & etc? any advice on the effectiveness of that?

Okay I'm just going to pray pray pray & cross my fingers we'll make it... I don't see why the Texas processing center says one timeline and the CA one says 5 months?

So if I DO have to send it to Texas... would it help my chances by sending it express mail instead of through the P.O. Box?

Is this express mail address better?
USCIS

Sending tmrw no matter what.

We are having our wedding ceremony/celebration no matter what so if we have to pay for an extra flight & etc that will be really annoying but we can't help it!

Has anyone had good luck with calling their congressman or someone in their state to help the process along?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI live in Los Angeles area. Why does this site tell me to send my I-129F to Texas?
I'm confused!

I live in Orange County, just south of LA in California and the USCIS is Los Angeles takes 5 months to process K-1 visas (so the gov website says) BUT this site is telling me (and everyone) to send their K-1 applications to the TEXAS drop box no matter where they live?

WHY?!

The USCIS office appears to be WAY behind our timline... we only have just a little over 6 months SOOOOOOO timing is everything!

Can't I send my application locally?

I've seen something on here tell me to send things to the Laguna Niguel office too?

PLEASE SOMEONE EXPLAIN THIS!

Thanks guys!
If you can't tell, im kind of freaking out so quick simplified responses would be most helpful!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWedding date approaching fast! NEED HELP preparing while we wait for NOA2
Hi everyone,

I know you will scold me for this but............

we already have a wedding date - Sept 21, 2012
I filed for the K-1 in March & got NOA1 March 21 and the NOA2 projection says approval should be between Aug 7 - 11.

I know it may take longer... sooooooooo

Without all the "You shouldn't have made plans before having the visa" comments,
can I get some advice on how to best prepare ourselves for the rest of the process?
Are there background checks or anything that we can process now?
Is there anything we can prepare ahead of time so we are ready when we get NOA2 and the rest of the process can go smooth & quick?

Please be kind... I get it, we might have to cancel our fiance visa and apply for spousal after our wedding
BUT I'm still praying and holding out hope so plz just be proactive & positive in your advice.

Thank you!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionGetting an interview date

Nich-Nick I read all that too, but the guy on the phone was adament I filled in the form, but I think you're right I reckon it's not accurate at all. Hence I still went and filled in the account information on the usvisa-info site.

The only issue I have right now is that I don't know who is sorting out the interview date, but as I'm impatient I'll get to the bottom of this sooner rather then later :) I'll keep everyone updated.

vantasticvoyge to get you Invoice ID number just called the NVC on the phone number I listed in my post. Best to put some money into skype and call them that way, it's not too expensive and if you call our time 1-2pm it's early there and not too busy.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionGetting an interview date

Tracey&Greg read this post I wrote too after I sent that one:

I am on  VJ every day and I saw that there were some issues with couriers etc and I was also curious with my case status etc so I went rummaging around on various sites.

On the London Embassy site it now states you have to fill in form DS260, I thought '####### another form!?" when I went to where the form was located (ceac.state.gov/ceac) I couldnt figure out my invoice ID, so I decided to call the embassy (contact number 0203 608 6998) and the people on there deal with the usvisa-info.com site info. This was the first I realised there was such a site! He told me I had to set up an account in order to pay MRV, do courier and book my appointment... but in order to do so I HAD to fill in the DS260 form, but he couldn't help me with the Invoice ID because he didn't know where to find it either gaaah! I hung up and decided to do some rummaging. I chose to put in a wrong Invoice ID number and luckily a red alert came up saying contact the NVC if you have forgotten it!

So I called the NVC in new hampshire (tel: +1 (603) 334-0700), which wasn't too long a wait as they had just opened. The lady did the checks and I asked her for it and she just gave it to me.

So I went back and filled in the DS260 and all it said was that I had to fill in DS230 parts 1 and 2 and send to the embasy, which I have done so already, so got  more confused, and decided to check my case status instead which told me that all was fine with my case and that I now just had to wait for an interview!!! So contradicting info about waiting for interview and scheduling an interview.

In the meantime I checked my email, i had gotten a transaction complete email from the usvisa people and when I went back to check my account it said my status was at 'attend interview' stage... but what interview date?? So I called them up, this is when I got told that I should check over the next 3 days as it takes that long to clear the transaction and that once it's done I can schedule an interview, hmmm not sure about all this so I called the embassy main number 0207 49990000 and the lady there simply said that I had to wait about another 2 weeks for my interview date. So again conflicting info!!!

Right now I'm going to just wait for a few days and try everyone again on Monday and see what has happened.

I had my medical on the 22nd so it's been a while so my case is all in their system. I'm hoping its on the new system and I can go ahead and book my interview date.

Let me know if you hear anything different!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionGetting an interview date

Oh also it takes 3 business days for the payment to transfer THEN you are to book your own interview date.

Tracy&Greg did you hear about this? It seems we're not supposed to just sit and wait for it...ClockWatch2.gif

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionGetting an interview date

I have just spoken to 2 different people about what to do to get an interview date.

I got told the following steps:

Fill in DS260 online at https://ceac.state.gov/ceac and that you can't do the online account set up without it, but when I filled in the form all it said to me was the next steps were to fill in DS230 parts 1 and 2 and to send off to the consulate. Which I have already done so?

So I just went ahead and set up my account at usvisa-info.com, selected my courier service which was still DX and have payed my MRV and am now waiting for an interview date. I am going to call the embassy now to find out about my interview date because this whole new system has completely confused everything grrrr... how many bloody more loops are we supposed to jump through!!!

Hey it almost 2 months...Did you find out what they asked..They asked you to send pictures or they sent back complete package to you..
Neither. They sent the letter extending my husband's status for one year. Haven't heard a peep since then.
I think they don't need your photos no more. When you're approved, they still have to take your photos at their place again no matter whether you sent your photos or not.

I just got my wife's biometrics appointment today. There's one part where you can request for rescheduling: You can reschedule for the next Wednesday afternoon or Saturday afternoon. USCIS can not guarantee the day preferred, but will do so to the extent possible. Upon receipt of your request, you will be provided a new appointment notice. Make a copy of this notice for your records, then mail the original with your request to your local USCIS....

Have cemar, marriage cert, birt cert and police clearance handy. They took another original copy from me even though i submitted originals to nvc. I suggest padding up on photos and emails/chatlogs lay the stack on the pre-screener's booth and on the interviewer's table so they can see it. They won't ask to look at it but the pre-screener will make notes on how much you have. Know all the dates such us his first visit, days of visits. Know his add in US and his work.

God bless you, with prayers and preparation you will pass the interview without any prob.

Hey everyone,

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsUnfair Advantage ...
Greetings Everyone!

I hope that this post will bring encouragement to anyone in our K1 shoes.

First off, let me say, that my Fiancee and I have been in prayer about our K1 process since the beginning and we realize that this thing is much bigger than us. God is in the middle of this and His fingerprints are all over it.

Today we received our NOA1 !!!! And I think it's a record: Filed on May 28th, Notice Date from NOA1: May 30th, received in mail: June 3rd.

There is power in prayer and I know that there will continue to be further evidence of the Ringer we've got in our corner.

Blessings to you,

Dan
