so we just got spammed 4 times ( edit makes that 6 ####### lol) with txt msgs saying they got our aos ppwk. two diff MSC#'s, yet all 4 txts say it's only for the I-765? No email as of yet. I'm guessing MSC is the new case number like WAC was for our i-129f?

That's odd. You should only have one MSC# for AOS. Well, really it's 3 MSC #s in total. One for EAD, one for AP, and one for AOS. They're usually roughly in sequence, with AP being a few numbers off. And yeah, the MSC# is basically your new receipt/case number. You should be able to try logging in on the USCIS website now to check your status (though it might not show up for a day or two). :)

Hah! Random. I got my AP in the mail today. USCIS website still just says initial review with the last touch of June 3rd. It's dated June 1st though. First time (seriously) that the website has been wrong for me. But I'm ok with that! I also got another touch on EAD today, so hopefully that's them producing my card and they'll actually mail it soon! *crosses fingers*

Despite the fact that I can't afford to travel anywhere, having AP is still awesome, because I'm not trapped here anymore! Except I am, but I don't feel like it! LOL

Holy cow, they're really working on yours Ashen!
Congratulations!

No doubt! Thanks :) No AOS touches still since May 3rd, but I'm ok with that, since I know EAD is a least on its way! Hopefully it doesn't take forever to get the actual card

This happened to me as well, and I think to everyone else who's had their case transferred to CSC. Our general consensus is that this just means it was received at CSC and they've continued processing.

Grats Sam!

I officially mailed off my aos package today via fedex. took a bit longer i expected but at least it's done now. OY, now i gotta figure out how to prove we live together :( no lease no utilities in laws are being..fussy. :(

Will you be getting a joint bank account? You can use things like that to show the same address. Keep every bit of mail you receive addressed to you or both of you too. Do you have Netflix? You could sign up under both your names for that as well.

Personally, and especially with a destination wedding, I wouldn't plan anything until I had documents in hand, but that's just me. I'm also one of those people actually waiting for EAD or GC before job-hunting though, and apparently not everyone does that either.

If you can handle the added stress and uncertainty of waiting and basing all your plans on USCIS, go for it.

Well, I haven't had any touches on AP STILL since April 7th (not that it matters, I can't afford to go home to visit). And haven't had touches on EAD since May 3rd, AOS since May 4th (which were just follow ups after my Bio I suspect). Giving up on getting anything by end of May... really need to start getting EI though.. that'd be nice... :( I know the system doesn't always update, but it's usually been pretty good for me.

Random update, but I haven't received any touches on my AP since April 7th, and with biometrics on April 30th I had a couple of touches after that on my EAD and AOS as expected, but nothing since May 4th now. Sigh. I figure I won't get anything for another 3 weeks or so. blah.

I've received emails since. They were late mind you. It was almost a week after our case was transferred to CSC and we received the letter in the mail about it before we received the email..lol.. but we still got them. It's strange, it seems kind of random. Sometimes they're good with communication, sometimes not!

CanadaAOS'rs...

That was exactly what it was like for me. Two hours of driving to Buffalo, and then less than five minutes at their office. I literally asked her if it was OK for me to just go :P

Oh gross Spoom, 2 hours. I'm glad you got transferred to CSC too ;) Maybe that's part of how they determine who gets transferred? lol I dunno...
ashenflowersFemaleCanada2010-04-30 12:04:00
CanadaAOS'rs...
Biometrics done! Is it just me or did anyone else look around the office after they got their receipt back wondering 'I can leave now? no... seriously? no one wants to interrogate me? that's it? that was worth the drive?'.... etc etc... lol But no one was around so I couldn't ask, but I have my receipt.

Funny though, I had made a b&w copy and a colour copy of my bio appt letter... I thought I brought a copy and the original, but I accidentally brought the two copies... i handed over the colour copy thinking it was the original, but no. They said it was ok, but I'd wish I'd brought the original like I thought I did. lol I didn't know they were going to stamp directly on the form as my 'receipt'. The lady doing paperchecks/security at the door originally looked a little irritated with me. Mostly because I was like 'no, that's the original' and she's like 'it's a copy' and I'm like 'no'... lol Whoops.
Ah well.

Now I sit back and wait for that magical 'Card Production Ordered' or whatever. lol

(p.s. no touches showing online yet, but I'm not surprised. It was only just over an hour ago.. haha)
ashenflowersFemaleCanada2010-04-30 11:39:00
CanadaAOS'rs...

Man, you got so lucky getting transferred to CSC. You just must have a really, really easy case!

I dunno the criteria. I don't know if it's super easy, cause my husband only started living in the U.S. regularly 2 years ago, and we had to get the co-signer. I dunno. Having an easy case doesn't make my husband and I's situation suck any less at the moment! lol But I won't get into that. You know how it is.

And thanks everyone! And YAY Sam! Glad you didn't have to wait long to find out about the approval :D

I have seen a couple of people from California get transferred with no interviews. I'm starting to wonder if it has anything to do with how busy each office is? But seriously, I dunno. lol

I'll have the same issue here in CA with the license too. It's really ridiculous.

Good luck at the interview though :)

I get to look forward to my biometrics appt this coming Friday. 45 min drive to get to it (which I'm still irritated about, btw... lol). Was in the neighbourhood of the other ASC office (the one actually in town here) a couple days ago, but it looks like it's closed. Stupid. Probably means the one far away is going to be super busy, if everyone from around here has to go there now. I'm not looking forward to it, to be honest. Mostly because we'll have to get up at 6am that day.

Received my AP today... Heh. Why not.

I guess I figured it'd be a card or something you could fit into your wallet. Nawh... has to be two, full-length pieces of paper.

Lol nice. Week before your interview. Seems very 'left hand doesn't know what right hand is doing'.
ashenflowersFemaleCanada2010-04-19 15:01:00
CanadaAOS'rs...
Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if they had some wrong info. They had the wrong phone # written for their deferred inspection site in L.A. That was interesting. lol
I would bet the office closer to me is less busy than the one I was assigned to, honestly. I'm definitely not going to try a walk-in to the one that's far, but I might go ahead and try to find the one closer to me. Like Spoom said, the worst they can do is say no, and I stick with my appointment far away. But at least the close on is in an area I go to frequently anyway. I haven't noticed the building/office all of the other times we've gone to that plaza actually, but then again I haven't been looking. lol And if it's anything like the SSA office here in town, it's a hole in a wall behind another building, and is hard to find when you ARE looking
ashenflowersFemaleCanada2010-04-12 14:48:00
CanadaAOS'rs...
 So, I was looking at my biometrics appt info. I'm trying to figure out something, and hoping you guys can :help:!

Do ALL the office descriptions on the USCIS website say they are appointment only? Or do some specifically say they talk walk-ins from the general public? All the ones I've seen say that only military personnel can go without appointments, and general public needs an appointment first. How are people accomplishing walk-ins with this 'rule'?

Also, I discovered that there's actually an ASC office MUCH closer to me than the one I was assigned to. There's one about 6-7 miles away, in the same town (it's apparently right beside a Kmart that my husband and I frequently go to.. lol)... however, I'm assigned to one that's in a different city, freaken 40 miles away!!?!?! I'm not going way out there if I don't have to. I already have to drive 2 hours almost, just to get to my interview location. ugh.
I mean, the service area info on the ASC office description says "ASCs are located in specific places to accommodate customers located near them. Even though most ASCs provide the same services, if you need an ASC, please use the one nearest you."... so it's like they're going against their own policies. lol :bonk:

CanadaAOS'rs...

Hello Everyone,

Please I need your advices! It will be really appreciated!
We got married on March 24th.

I filed for AOS, AP, EAD on March 31st...but I have a problem with SSA because the CPB Officer screw my I-94 up...he put on it "work NOT authorized" so I can get a SSN....We call to DHS, they said we would have to wait 6 weeks before someone could take care of that...we live too far from the boarder to get it fix there... :bonk:

DHS told us to get a tax number but same thing 4 or 6 weeks waiting time...so I can`t be put on health insurance, car insurance, no joint account with my husbands,...

I found a car and I want to buy it...so my husband could buy it on his name...I have no problem with it but my concerns is that I can`t build any good credit with car insurance... :crying:

I was wondering if we could put the car on both names and he could insured it until I get my SSN? or is it better that I wait to buy the car when I get my SSN?

In Quebec, I'm going to give my Mazda to my daughter so she won`t have to pay any taxes...

Thanks a lot for your help

Jo

Here's my understanding of it, but don't quote me. Go to your local deferred inspection site (you don't have to go back to the border). Locations are here: http://www.cbp.gov/l...ction_sites.pdf They should be able to 'correct' your i-94, but as you know, you really AREN'T eligible to work as a K-1, so they didn't entirely make a mistake, they just made it harder to get an SSN from the sounds of it. Have you gone to a SSA office and tried anyway? Our initial SSNs come with the stamp that we can't work without DHS Authorization anyways. I'd give it a shot, and make sure to print off the thing saying K-1s CAN get a SSN.. which is here: https://secure.ssa.g.../lnx/0100203500

Also, with the insurance and car, you'll need a driver's license. For now you'll only get a temporary one anyways, which from what I've heard will expire when your I-94 does, so I'm not sure that's even helpful. I haven't gone to get my license yet, so those who have will correct me if I'm wrong. :) Perhaps that varies depending on what state you're in. I don't see any problem with getting the car in both your names but only your husband be on the insurance.

Just relax, and realize there's no need to rush everything. :) You've got your AOS/etc papers filed. It won't be long until everything's in order.

CanadaAOS'rs...

So if we visit to Canada, do we show our GC or our passport to the Canadian border? I've been curious :P

My thought would be going IN to Canada, show your passport, and on the way back to the US show your green card.

Yeah there's lots of stuff flying around in the mail from USCIS these days. Congrats everyone!

ok great..so i'll just get like a couple certified copies and use photocopies for most stuff. cheaper that way..

Ashen i know how ya feel. most of you guys are getting your noa's for aos or green cards, even though we all applied around same time for the k1...aw well sh1te happens..at least we are all together with our so.

Yah, that's true... your K1 was a long time coming, but yay for getting it and moving on!!! :)
ashenflowersFemaleCanada2010-04-09 16:00:00
CanadaAOS'rs...

I completely agree Ashen! In 5 years time, the 2 month delay will really be so insignificant. Just imagine the actual wait to get here!!! And now, its like a bad nightmare that is thankfully over :)

lol... oh dear, the nightmare is still not over for me and my husband by any means, but that's more suited for the vent thread

But yes, at least having AOS/etc sent away now is a huge weight off. I'd be stressing so much if we still hadn't sent it by now! I'm actually just pleased to let it sit back and run its course at this point. lol

and p.s... a ":luv:" to Danu lol ;)
ashenflowersFemaleCanada2010-04-09 03:25:00
CanadaAOS'rs...
To be honest, I don't even remember if I submitted photocopies or an original marriage license. My cover letter says 'copy' but that doesn't mean anything really. lol I have extra marriage certificates for various uses as well, so I imagine one of them was an original. But I'm not too worried about it. For the EAD and AP it's not needed anyways, except to show your name change.

Kimbear, I had to wait 2 months to send AOS because of several delays that came up, that I'll spare you all and won't bother listing. lol Don't feel bad. One month is nothing. My NOA is dated ONE DAY before my I-94 expires! LOL It's frustrating seeing people who applied when I originally WANTED to apply are getting their EAD and APs approved now, and I've only just received my first NOA. :( I'm happy for them, but just angry about my situation. But whatever. Nothing I can do. Just wait. :clock:

At least it's not several months like I've seen many people do. Eek. 2 months is really nothing in the grand scheme of things either.

My address was all messed up at POE too. It had my husband's old address (his parents) on our file, and they were too lazy to change it. No worries. It all gets fixed when you apply for AOS anyway. At least you GOT an I-94 at your POE :P LOL I'm glad you caught their error on your name!

Miranda, does "IO" mean interviewing officer?

I was really hoping for my EAD this month. Maybe I should make an infopass appointment.

I'm not sure how an infopass appointment will help you if you've only applied for EAD with in the last month or two.... I'm unclear with your timeline, but still. You can 'hope' for it... we ALL 'hope' for it when it best suits us (i.e. IMMEDIATELY), but we all have to respect processing times and can't expect special treatment.

I'm sorry for the situation you're in Miranda :( But... it is the risk that comes with job hunting before you get your EAD, right?... your entire case is still going through VERY quickly. I don't want to be the one to say it, but you're right. You should consider yourself lucky  That said, I hope something works out for you :) If it's not this opportunity, there will be others!

and Yay Danu! Who got her interview letter! :D

Update on us, we went to the post office today and got a refund for our shipping of the AOS package. It was $28, so it was worth it to try to get the money back! They received it yesterday morning (a day later than when they should have). It was kind of funny because they didn't quite know what they were doing in terms of the refund. It took about 20 mins. lol Ah well.

Sigh... so we sent our stuff Expressmail with a "Guarantee" that it would arrive today by 3pm. Well, I'm checking on the tracking system and it still says 'in transit', with no updates since the evening of the 23rd. I'm a little irritated.... On the plus side, we could try to get our money back if they don't get it until tomorrow. I asked to have it signed for, and it doesn't even show that there's been a delivery attempt.

Well, we FINALLY mailed our stuff today. Exactly 11 months +1 day since we filed K-1. lol I was really hoping to get it mailed yesterday, but we didn't get our joint sponsor's stuff until 7pm so it was too late. But still.

I dunno. I guess I should be excited, but I'm just very blah about it. I really feel like we are going to get an RFE. I didn't kabillionouble check everything so I feel doubtful, though I know I shouldn't cause I spent about 1/2 my free time last week putting the paperwork together. Ah well.

At least I can finally update my time line! lol

Thank god EAD and AP don't have extra fees when you file it all together. lol Otherwise it WOULD be a waste! Congrats Sam!!

I basically have the AOS ready to go now since I decided not to bother with the I-693 at this point. Just have to print off the cover letter and double check and sign everything. BUT now ANOTHER delay... we have to wait for my co-sponsor to file his taxes so he has the support documents to submit for 2009's info. SIGH... ya know, normally a week or two, or even a few days of delay aren't really a big deal... but when that expands to 4 or 5 of these types of delays, it's really pissing me off. I should've been able to file in February too... BLAH.

ok sorry... happy thoughts. Hopefully mine will process quickly too! :)

I'll keep ya'll posted.
