Thanks guys!! Rhiann squealed tongue.gif lol jk... I did post in the Canada forum first, sorry! It's been a long day! We've been up since 5am, and drove 8-9 hrs home basically right after the interview/breakfast.
Anyways... yay!!! I'm so excited! I'll let you guys know when I post my review, just for fun, even though we all have different consulates.

Thanks for all your good wishes and lucky vibes. smile.gif

Thanks Ashen!

On the positive note so my fiance took his medical yesterday. Everything went very well smile.gif. Now, just got to get the interview over with.

Good!! It's nice marking things 'done' on the list smile.gif

Hey Chaz. I was thinking about filing in May like you, or June, and even July. So there! LOL biggrin.gif

Looks like I will be the last April filer in this thread to interview. sad.gif

Technically not until you have the interview date. smile.gif

So, far I am the last one.

You did file a few weeks later than many of us though, so you're still doing quite well smile.gif

Ashen and starlight-your interviews are sooooo soon! Thinking about you guys.

We're celebrating the religious Muslim ceremony this weekend, and I'm so excited! It's going to be very different than Muslim celebrations in Senegal, so I'm not entirely sure what to expect, but I'm excited smile.gif

Hope you're all doing well. Sorry if I missed anyone!

Thanks smile.gif I'll be sure to update you. I can't believe it's coming so fast! There's so much to do still. Have a great time this weekend!!

Actually, the bad vibes are all due to YOU EotR... I'll leave at that, because I've already reported you for the prior things, and no need to rehash it, since the past couple of months have been nice since we've been ignoring each other.
And btw... I live in Ontario (if you even know where that is), and my fiance is in California.

Wow! blink.gif You ignore and report me for nothing? rolleyes.gif Half my life I lived three hours from Ontario and I have driven back and forth to California seven times. It's quite easy. Entry into and out of Canada is simple, COMPARATIVELY (that means in comparison to some other places).

I don't ignore you in the least bit. Maybe I should but that's not the way I live my life. If you do, and don't get my point that for Americans, Canada is as close as you can get then so be it. No need to insult and patronize me. Good luck in California.

Actually, I said I reported you long ago for prior things. Trust me, it was warranted at the time, if you recall.. I'd be happy to show you the message, but there's no point. And by ignoring each other, I meant none of 'this', like what's going on right now.

I realize that Canada and America share a very long/close border with each other, and I can understand what you are trying to say... but just please don't try to compare my situation to a couple who hypothetically live only hours from each other. America is huge, and Canada is huge. And people HAVE been denied entry trying to cross. I grew up a 40 minute drive from the border, and where I live right now can get to Detroit in 2 hours, and Buffalo in about 6... it doesn't mean my fiancé, or family once I move, will be just on the other side and mere hours away. Entry IS simple, 'comparatively', and no visa is needed... but there is great expense and time needed to get from one place to the other. And like I said... my brother and his family live in CAMBODIA, so yeah... I get it. I know a nephew is probably not comparable in your mind, but I have still shed tears wishing I could hug my little guy again instead of just seeing pics on a blog... My niece doesn't even know who I am since she's too young, and I am worried my nephew won't recognize me by the time I get to see him again (we're working on connecting on Skype and with photos, but the mail system and internet connections are sketchy there). I CAN empathize, but you seem too busy with insulting and patronizing ME, to be able to understand that.

I do realize you have one of the more difficult situations here, in terms of not being able to visit your girls, and I sympathize believe it or not... but don't make it appear as if everyone else's lives are so easy to them. YES comparatively it is, but it doesn't mean it's not hard for us too.

I don't really see how it's insulting or patronizing to you if I am just trying to explain that.

Oh, and just because I can't edit my last post but would like to add this for EotR... I also wanted to add that my brother, who is my ONLY sibling, along with my only niece and nephew (who are 6 months and 3 yrs old respectively) and sister in law (so basically my entire immediate family, except my parents) live in Cambodia.... so don't tell me I can easily go see them. With everything going on next year with moving, and filing AOS, and job hunting, and settling in the US, it's likely that I might not see them until midway through 2011, and that's if I'm lucky.

Don't be so quick to judge, when you know nothing of someone's personal situation.

My fiance lives in Cali like Ashen's does and I also live in Ontario like she does, and it's not very easy to go see them.
Plane tickets still cost quite a bit, they dont just let you walk in and out without much questioning and our fiance's are still far way.
Granted, there are some people who have fiances just across the border and lucky them, but Cali's still pretty far away.

Anyway...

I leave tomorrow for Montreal.

I'm so excited for you!!! Best of luck! I know you'll do great, and don't forget about us when you get approved!!!
Well, I'll let you call you SO first... but we're next after that!!!

Here's actually here in Canada right now, he's coming with me biggrin.gif

I think we're going to get the wireless in the hotel so I'll post when I get back.

As for interview times, it's first come first serve in Montreal, so we're getting there pretty early.

Besides, moving from Canada is like moving from one USA state to another comparatively... biggrin.gif

I'm just going to ignore that cause it's not worth the time to respond.

So much bad vibes from you about Canada/USA ashen. I have lived over half my life in a State bordering Canada. Now I live in a State just one away. I know what I am talking about. I can drive to Canada in about 6 hours. That is what I mean by "moving from Canada is like moving from one USA state to another comparatively". No need for you to get upset about it. Comparatively, I CAN NOT DRIVE to China. You CAN easily drive back to see your family and friends. See what I mean? innocent.gif

Canada is RIGHT NEXT TO THE USA fer gawds sake.

And btw... I live in Ontario (if you even know where that is), and my fiance is in California. yes, it's on the same land mass, but it's 2500 miles away. A 4 day drive on average, or roughly a 10-12 hour plane trip that costs hundreds of dollars, because there are NO direct flights from my town to my fiancé's town. It's not THAT easy. Don't act like I don't know what I'm talking about, and have things sooooo easy. Yes some people in Canada/US live only hours away, and culturally it's not that different (though believe me, there are certainly differences), but not everyone lives along the border, or in such close proximity to their significant others. No, it's no USA-China trip, but it's not a hop skip and a jump next door either.
FYI.

Daph,
He was honest and checked on the question if he had ever been arrested or whatever. So he had to answer yes. And then the adjudicator had the boss over his shoulder breathing down his neck or was a new guy, whatever, they wanted proof of the offense so they could see if it qualified or not qualified for approval. We were approved supposedly but wanted the damn info...Nigel would have told me point blank if it was denied, period. I know he told me he wouldnt have left there without a fight, so I understand they want what they want but its like, digging up nothing, for nothing. I may have to take a trip to England and f&% the wedding money. Its been 6 months 8 days since we've seen eachother essentially. I know more people especially EOTR has been longer but this ####### aint helping the situation....and Nigel's getting either depressed or lazy or just plain pissed off, i donno, i havent truly talked to him since Thursday or so...I see him like, once a week on Skype, it sucks.

ahhhh right.... I'm sorry, I forgot about that question. And yah, I read your story here about the jerk of a boss and the employee having to 'impress'. sad.gif
I don't see why you'd have to make a trip to England though, so save the $! I know it'd be important to see each other, of course, but you're seriously SO close. Like everyone's pointed out, you ARE approved, pending this 'proof'. And once you have visa in hand, I'd draft up a nice letter of complaint to the consulate.

I don't know who stresses more in the process. The petitioner or the beneficiary. I feel myself stressing out about this more then my fiance.

Personally, I think the stress level depends on the type of person you are... however, in generic terms, I'd have to say I think the beneficiary (i.e. immigrant getting the visa) is the one that has a lot more at stake here. They are the ones that have to give up their entire lives, and friends and family, move/pack/sell all their belongings, and leave everything, EVERYTHING behind. Whether it's something they choose to do for love or not is irrelevant. That is a VERY stressful thing to do, in ANY circumstance.

USCs, don't forget what your SOs are giving up for you. And if you think you're waiting for YOUR life to begin with your SO, think about what it's like to just be waiting to give notice to a job, or landlord, or start packing, or dealing with loved ones saying they don't want them to go, to be looking at the place you're moving to and being so anxious and excited to get there that it's just FRUSTRATING. Every situation is different, I realize that, but I do think this is much more 'stressful' on the beneficiary over all.

Welcome back EOTR! Don't go Allie! Its a great lesson in selflessness, be happy for others, even if our journey is taking longer... After what happened with you and Nigel, I decided to wait until he gets his ACPO thing to make sure it says "No Trace". He got a ticket for driving without insurance... never went to court, but had to pay a fine... now we don't know what to fill out... criminal past???

Hey there,

i've had plenty of speeding fines & ran a red light once, none of them came up on my ploce clearance. I read some where that as long as it didnt' go to court it doesn't count so i'm pretty sure he'll be wont have a problem. If i can find where i read it i'll add the link.

So "no criminal past"

good Luck x

Nigel just took the ACPO thing/police clearance to the interview, was honest about it, they wanted records, period. RFE'd us. Bunch of a-holes.

So did this tire incident even show up on his police clearance??

We're waiting for that subject access thing we ordered, should be in by the 20th or so, it wasnt on the standard one ACPO(association of chief officers) for the UK, just showed the NO LIVE TRACE, which meant there's old stuff on there.
So, no, nothing shows up. They want us to dig up nothing essentially. I read on another thread that it may not show up on the subject access either, may have to go to the archives....he REALLY REALLY doesnt want to do that, he gives me ####### for telling him to do it too....i may have to go up there and grab him by the ear to make him do it...i know he gets depressed about stuff too, but it only makes me motivated, it just pisses him off thats all....this whole thing's f'd up.

I guess I'm confused then. Why did the issue even come up? Did they ask him a direct question about it at the interview? I know the police clearances differ by region, but if it didn't show up on the ACPO clearance, then it shouldn't have even been discussed.

Do you have any family or friends that might be able to pitch in, if you threw a fun fundraising sort of party? Ya never know.

Mav... for the SSN what state are you in? The requirements vary from state to state. I personally am not going to get mine ahead of time, cause I heard it can be a pain in the butt with the name change and everything. But I dunno... I've heard stories on both sides. huh.gif

I live in Ohio.

I'm not sure the requirements for ID for an SSN would vary by state. It's a government agency. I know there are varying levels of office staff's understanding of the rules, but that's just because they don't understand the rules correctly, right?

Sorry, by this I mean the requirements for the marriage license will vary. Some require both parties to have a SSN before they can get one, some do not.

Apparently someone who had been waiting about 90 days for an interview in Montreal got their date revoked because they "accidentally" scheduled them. They were told to not expect an interview until January 2010.
They've already been waiting since July.

Me thinks the guy who runs the consulate is getting a few angry letters this week.

I love it!! It just showed up a couple days ago, and seems to like sleeping in the planters on my parents porch... haha I forgot to 'peek' if it was a he or a she, but whatever. A friend of mine once told me that only 3% of the things we actually worry about will come to fruition... I don't know or care if that's accurate, or even where she heard it, but I respect her philosophy because she's really a great person and really deals quite gracefully with what life has handed her... regardless of the truth of that statement, if you apply it to the things you worry about, and realize that whatever you're worrying either doesn't matter, or won't make a difference in the long run, or won't even happen at all... it makes a big difference. smile.gif

We have all of our forms ready, I just have to make copies of some Chats and process some photographs for the Embassy Interview. Our hotel room has internet, so I will let everyone know how the interview goes. kicking.gif

Good luck to you and Leidys!!!! rose.gif

Ok... I'm just putting this out there... I will be pissed if I have to wait a month after POE to get married... 2 weeks to wait to apply for SSN and 2 weeks to wait for the SSN to arrive (I'm generalizing)... I might as well completely forget at all about making ANY plans, and god only knows when my parents can actually try to make plans to drive the 2500 miles over to make it for the wedding, not to mention move the rest of my stuff with them. No... we will be getting married ASAP. I still don't have a CLUE when my interview might be, so I think it will be down to the wire in order to get some sort of wedding date that isn't just some random Tuesday in February or some ####### like that. I'm not going to go through that hell and anticipation, only to have to wait for some unknown length of time to get my SSN and then get married, especially since I don't need it for the license.

Sorry, but this part of the process (aka, waiting for the f'ing interview) has angered me INFINITELY more than the little waiting for NOA2...

I guess I'm kind of lucky I ended up being away during the whole P3 arrival.. then I wasn't waiting and waiting anxiously for it. lol It took 2 weeks to get mine. It's not bad really... if they can send out P3s in two weeks they should be able to schedule a damn interview!

Anyways.. I dunno about the SSN now... the SSN rules vary state to state (in terms of needing one for marriage)... I'll maybe look around online if I feel like it tomorrow and see what I find. Either way, I'll be pissed if I have to wait 2 weeks after moving just to be able to get an SSN to get married... I don't need one to get the marriage license, so I don't see why I should have to get one before the wedding just to redo it after wards in my married name.

Hi guys, I just wanted to say that I wish all you guys luck in getting speedy interviews, and hope you all get to be with your loved ones by the end of the year. I haven't commented much lately because the Montreal consulate is running 3-5 months for interviews (the 'Canada' statistics for timelines on VJ also include Vancouver's consulate which is "only" 2-3 months from what I've seen, so it's deceiving). So, I expect a lot of waiting is yet to come for me and my fiancé... I have mentioned this before, but I honestly believe I might not get an interview until January (after what I was hoping would be our wedding day). So, while I try to think I could still be surprised with a December interview, the fact that some couples have been waiting since June/July and STILL have no interview date booked, well... it's not looking good. Sooo really I'm a bit upset, depressed, frustrated, and thus have kept commenting here to a minimum since I know what I have to say would be negative and ranty, and I'd rather not. But I do check in to see how you guys are doing, and do honestly wish you all well, and hope that none of you have to wait as long as me to get an interview. Good luck to you all!!

Don't worry Allie... you'll still have an interview before me. laughing.gif

And I'd have to admit... if the roles were reversed and my fiance was sitting on paperwork and not getting it back ASAP, I'd be freaking out a bit. hahaha My packet 3 was delayed, but that's just cause I was away until the 5th, and then it was a holiday Monday, and then I couldn't get out of work during the day on the 8th to get to the post office. So technically, that was ASAP even if it was a week later. lol

But yeah, I think if Nigel has his medical on Monday it might give him the jolt he needs to get going!

The rules are basically the same in Cali and Nevada. You both show up, get the license, and can marry the same day. smile.gif Wish this whole process was that easy!

For us, we're lucky that California's rules are less stringent. We both have to be there, but just need ID. Neither of us has to be a US citizen, so I don't need my SS first, which is great, cause that'd just be another stupid delay. I've seen it suggested that you wait about 2 weeks after your POE to request a SSN, and then it takes about 2-3 weeks to arrive.

Oh, this is good to know!
I find it redundant to have to get the SSN then marry then go and change the name.
Now that I Know this, I'll be getting my SSN after marriage then.

Agreed... it seems a little silly to have to do that twice!

attaya... no news, and there won't be for a while. i'm getting discouraged every time I read things in the Canada forum about it... there haven't been many interviews booked lately in Montreal, though tons of people are waiting. I probably won't be able to have my wedding date of January 10th like I really wanted. It's going to be SO close, that I'm very uncertain, but a 4 month wait for an interview is not uncommon when dealing with Montreal apparently. So, that's quite frustrating.

Thanks for asking though hon. I hope Lamine is feeling better!
