This is an exciting time now that things are finally moving. I know those still waiting will hear soon! I haven't received my NOA yet (though I haven't checked today's mail), but the fact that my cheque is cashed has me strangely relieved.

I wish the next stage of the waiting process (for approval) was only a couple weeks instead of several months.

Our check was cashed today too! woot!! I don't think our mail has arrived for the day yet, but I'm hoping out NOA1 will arrive today or tomorrow. Or at least before next Thursday because I just found out I'm starting a new job that day and would love to provide them with that paperwork!!!

I think a lot of us are feeling that pain of wanting to make trips but waiting for that extension letter with the NOA. I'm in the same boat. :(

Wow, can't believe I'm back in VJ land!

Anyways, hello everyone! :) Please add me to the list. I'll be sending the package in tomorrow, or Wednesday (pending getting our hands on the funds to pay the fee.. ugh).

I hope it goes smoothly and quickly (LOL.. right).

This is what we included
• Our apartment lease, renewed earlier this year – showing that we live together
• Sales contract on a new vehicle we recently purchased together – showing joint assets
• Automotive Insurance Renewal Information in both our names
• Joint tax return from 2011 – showing that we filed together as a married couple
• Joint credit card statement / Costco membership – showing our shared financial responsibilities
• Joint Bank statement – further evidence of shared financial responsibilities

It seems like enough. I didn't feel like bothering with photos and affidavits since they just seem like extra fluff, and we haven't taken any vacations together, sadly. Hopefully they find that stuff sufficient.

Good luck to everyone!

I may be wrong, but I think I remember that the availability date for new H1B visa allotments is in April. That will be prioritized over family visas.

Yeah thats kind of what I was figuring. We applied in March when most of the Feb filers were being approved and then comes April when we thought we might get the NOA2 by the end of the month and nothing. They did 35 petitions per week on average during march and like 35 total for april, so I think they were working on other cases.

Edit - I just looked it up. The premium processing for H1B's started April 7th, so thats undoubtably why things are taking longer now. Blech stupid CSC.

Oh great... so does that mean our entire process will be delayed? Any idea as to how much of a delay we could expect? I was hoping to be done this part of the BS in January, and be able to move then, but now I feel like that's wishful thinking, as it's only 8-9 months away. This makes me even more pissed that we didn't file when we were originally talking about it in late Jan/early Feb.

I totally know how you feel... it's just by seeing so many people with NOA1s, or at least cashed cheques, within 3 days or something, and it seems, judging by the April CSC K1 thread, that there are a LOT of us that have been waiting one or 2+ weeks since mid-April without even a cashed cheque... it's a little discouraging sad.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsStupid Q regarding NOA1
Hey everyone,
Our cheque was cashed last week, and since the USCIS website is up and running again I was able to create and account and log in with the numbers I found on the back of the cheque. So I added our case, and found this:
"Application Type: I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)

Current Status: Case received and pending.

On May 6, 2009, we received this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E), and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case."
blah blah etc. etc...

Does that mean that May 6 is our NOA1 date? My fiance hasn't received anything in the mail yet. Yes, I realize I'm being impatient and should just wait until he gets something... tongue.gif lol

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNOA1 not received
Do you have a receipt to show when they actually received it? We sent our I-129F on April 22nd as well, they received it on the 24th... and we didn't receive our NOA1 until this Monday, so technically a little over 2 weeks. There are a few others who haven't received there's yet too. I think it's just random, and there are other types of visa cases being processed right now that are slowing things down a bit. Supposedly, if you haven't received your NOA1 within 30 days past when they got your package you can call to find out what's going on, but before then, they just tell you to wait.

Wow.... to be honest... if my fiance had said to me that I would have to come up with the money to support myself my first few months in the U.S. or else don't bother coming because he's not willing to help me financially (clearly I'm paraphrasing)... we'd definitely have just called it off, because a) it's not happening, and B ) clearly he's not on my 'team'... so to speak. There's NO WAY that I would be able to come up with enough funds to cover my expenses, plus pay for moving, plus pay for immigration paperwork... etc etc...... (That being said, personally I am paying as much as I possibly can into the moving and immigration... and getting a job ASAP when I get my EAD... I will THEN be able to contribute financially to the marriage... but given my current situation.. i.e. living pay check to paycheck... I seriously find it impossible to save money.. and trust me... I do NOT live large, and I HAVE tried to save money... I just can't with my low income, and expenses)... If your fiance's situation is anything like mine (and I don't know what it is, so I'm guessing)... I think you're expecting a lot out of him. You're asking him to pull money out of his #### basically....
Marriage is TEAMWORK, and supporting EACH OTHER. If HE is not willing to get a job ASAP when he CAN legally in the U.S. and plans on being a bum for the rest of his life feeding off of you, that's one thing, but that's not the issue at stake I don't think. The issue is that you are unwilling to help him out during his first few months here when he can't legally work. EVERYONE going through the K-1 process is put into the situation where one spouse works, and the other legally can not, so clearly some support has to be happening there.... Yeah, you have kids, but I'm sorry but I say 'so what'... clearly you don't love him enough to do whatever it takes to be with him.

That's just my honest 2 cents.

Thanks for your honesty. I understand what you are saying. I am concerned that he will not have at least half of the cost for the application for his permenant residency. That I cannot afford. I realize that sounds like I do not care enough for him, but my reality is that I need to think of my children. I can support him while he is looking for work but I just need some kind of contingency plan that I cannot get him to talk about. I am not saying that I will not support him during that time, but if I am right the cost for his AOS is around 1034. That I cannot pay for. I understand completely the cost that he will have to pay for his medical exam, crimminal clearences, visa, and travel expenses. I am only one person. I maybe having cold feet because of past experiences with my ex.. Which is past baggage that is my problem. The phrase to do whatever it takes is way too broad. I have to do whatever it takes to provide a good home for my kids first then a man. He has two businesses in his country. It just would be nice to have him discuss honestly his financial situation now instead of later. Please reread my statement: I said that I wish that I could say that to him, but I will not say that. Really, I wish you the best in your journey.

Ok... that makes a little more sense to me... ultimately it could be the issue is communication (lack of communication and money... some of the main causes of divorce, not surprisingly). I think you do need to get it all in the open, and I agree that he DOES need to get the ball rolling on coming up with some sort of plan.

Is it really all about the money?? Have you talked about this at all with your fiance? What was it like when you saw each other in person? How long has it been since you saw him? When will you see him again? etc... You need to figure out for yourself how you actually feel about HIM, without money being in the picture. Also, YOU need to figure it out.. not you and your friend who you think you might be in love with. Don't even THINK about divorce as an option, because that gives you an 'out' later... think about this as a LIFE TIME commitment after this process is done, because that's what marriage is REALLY supposed to be...

Side note, I think it's more like choosing between Jack and Sawyer... one's a whiny doctor, the other is a con artist. Both seem to have commitment issues... hmmm....

Its like going to the Supermarket. All these lines, you choose one and you end up getting stuck behind the people who don't know how you use the DIY checkouts so you end up standing there whilst the lines around you go 100 times faster and people who arrived after you are already finished checking out.

Now if USCIS had 1 person adjudicating every case it would be fair one line means no skipping but it would take forever (ofc) .

Goodluck to anyone still waiting.

According to the timelines there are 19 people on VJ with April NOA1s, and 22 from March still waiting as well (not to mention previous months, who are also waiting, or just haven't updated timelines). There are definitely others still waiting... it's not just you.
Check out the April progress thread for CSC, if you need some support (but beware some of us are already talking about what to do next, so I don't want you to feel bad about not getting the NOA2 yet). I see that you have received some touches, so the fact that they're working on your case has got to be a good sign, rather than it just sitting in a pile! smile.gif

Make sure your fiance puts the new address on the paperwork that she sends back to the embassy (some of it will ask about you). I would suggest calling the NVC to update your address with them, so their records match. The rest of the paperwork from the embassy will mostly go to your fiance though, not you.

Aren't Canadian visas the fastest of the fast? SO fast, that you will have a hard time gathering all the docs and proofs needed for the interview! star_smile.gif

Are you kidding????? As mentioned, the Canadian consulates, especially Montreal, are RIDICULOUSLY slow. I have no idea where you got your speedy impression from, but no way. Montreal is ridiculous.... their interviews are running 4-5 months after receiving the application. That's WITHOUT the holidays being in there. The Philippines, for example, is HALF that. I'm sure we all have no problem getting the docs needed, given THAT much time....

Good luck to anyone else who doesn't have their NOA2 yet. You guys will certainly get them soon. Remember the original time frames we had in our heads back when we filed the 129F? I certainly didn't think August would be the month that we'd be expecting NOA2s, so hang in there! I know it's frustrating to see people ahead of you in line, so to speak, but take comfort in realizing we're still ahead of the game (well within the projected 5 month expectations). I'm sure that doesn't help... but if anything, I hope your consulate doesn't take MONTHS to schedule interviews like mine does.....
