Screw the f-ing clients and their f-ing deadlines I say!

good.gif I agree with the above statement.

I've had obscene amounts of overtime this year for a client who doesn't care at all (or pay extra for my overtime).

I don't get anything from my company for the overtime either, but my boss has been _very_ lenient on my "work out of the office" aka "work at Peachey's house" this year too.

So I can't complain too loudly.

Cept about that friggin call I got at 10pm to fix servers in Kangaroo land... was on that call till like 3am and had to go in the next day. ><

yeah i feel like i can't complain either because I was allowed to take August off to visit the fiancé... I feel like my coworkers are still giving a bitchy vibe about that too. lol Our work comes in on such a random basis that we're either completely understaffed, or some of us are running out of work. blah!

24 hr support makes me angry. Our company claims to have it, but luckily my position doesn't include the 10pm calls. lol

so, I recently decided that I am going to try to look for another part time job seasonally... basically until I move. I agree... that's quite excessive, but unfotunately if there's a major problem, they need to fix it. It sounds like they probably will be turning off water for that.. sad.gif It sucks. i want to work!!!! cray5ol.gif ClockWatch2.gif or at least have my SSN. I dont care I will work for minimum wage.

I really dont think im going to get over having all this free time. I've been here for 3 weeks and im not home sick. im just really really bored. I've sent off so many requests to volunteer but i just want a consistency of waking up, going to work, and coming home. I am not fit to be a homemaker not that there's anything wrong with being a homemaker.

It's interesting, when people say something like 'I am not fit to be a homemaker' - they usually say something like 'not that there's anything wrong with that'.

However, if you wanted to stay at home, how often would you say - 'I can't stand the thought of sitting in a cubicle all day in an office' - 'not that there is anything wrong with that'.

It's like there is some implied criticism (of people who do choose to stay home) in saying you personally do not want to stay at home. In fact, in looking at it, using the disclaimer almost turns it in to a criticism. It's odd.

When I was younger I ALWAYS thought that I wouldn't be able to stand the thought of sitting in a cubicle all day... and yet, though I don't have a cubicle, I do sit at a computer all day now at work... and, as expected, I HATE IT. laughing.gif however, I love not dealing with customers kicking.gif We all have different interests I guess, which makes the transition harder for some than others I think.

border, have you looked at any hobbies you could pick up in the mean time? I'm also worried about the extra boredom I'll end up with when I'm not working for a while. But I'm hoping to fill my time with hobbies, learning, volunteering, that sort of thing. Things that I felt like I lost track of before. smile.gif Keep yourself busy! Here's my rant.... I had worked some overtime in the last 2 months to save up 20 hours, that I could transfer to later in the year to cover some time off that I needed to do things like the Montreal interview, and the medical in Toronto. Well, this week and last week has been REALLY slow at work, and I've had NOTHING TO DO. Last Tuesday I left early, last Wednesday I didn't even go in at all, and Thursday I left early. THIS week, I left early yesterday AND today already, and I'll be really surprised if I don't leave a couple hours early tomorrow. My 20 overtime hours that I worked so hard to obtain?? GONE. I had to use them to cover this unexpected time off, or else take a hit on my paycheque, which I can't afford. So, now I have to work overtime again to get them back, and now I'm feeling unsure that I will have enough work through the summer to GET those hours back, because all the part timers are taking the extra work! ARGH!

The evacuation warning area is now less than a block from their house. crying.gif I'm sitting here, 1am my time, gotta work at 8:30... watching him via webcam, piling their stuff at the front door getting ready to pack the car... I think he does want to stay there for his parents, for the time being. Well, his dad at least. His mom, by chance, is not at in California, because she just left last week for her seasonal time working at a camp near their cottage in Maine.

They also have 2 cats, that they'd want to be able to take care of. I think what's also bothering me is that they AREN'T packing anything yet, they aren't finding documents together, and aren't really making plans as to where to go, and how. At least those things, I would think, could be done ahead of time. They've been in this situation before, in last summer's fire (which was even closer to them than this one), so perhaps they already have a rough plan in their heads?... but still... I dunno. His poor mom though is probably freaking out worse than I am. I haven't been caught in a wildfire zone before, but they all have. wacko.gif

I could also just be extra cranky because today I went to the dentist for the first time in over 10 years (seriously, it's been like 12/13 years).. and though I have no cavities still, it did hurt to have everything scraped and cleaned, and my teeth have hurt ever since. Then I went to the immunization clinic for some updates to pre-prep for my medical down the line, and so my arm also kinda hurts.... so I'm pouty. lol

Thanks for your well wishes though ladies! I will update when things improve... *crosses fingers* smile.gif

Here's something I need to vent about.... Not sure if any of you have heard of the wildfires happening near Santa Barbara.
This website seems to have some good info: http://www.thedailysound.com/News/

Anyways... Loooong story short, there's a BIG f'ing FIRE burning like 4 miles from my fiance's home... he's about 2 miles from the evacuation warning boundary. Now... since they are not yet within the evacuation warning, he and his family are of course, not doing anything about it yet. Just keeping an eye on things. The fire is less than 48 hours old, so there's room for expansion, as it is ZERO % contained. I'm worried (duh)... and my fiance was supposed to come here for a visit on the 15th anyways... so just over a week from now. I'm trying to encourage him to just get the F out of there and come here early, but he won't. And to be honest, I'm a bit pissed off. I don't understand how he can not realize how HORRIBLE and frustrating this is to watch on the news, and see the pictures that he's taken FROM HIS BACK YARD of maaaassive plumes of smoke filling the air.

Is my pissedoffedness justified, or should I just let him be? I haven't seen him in 3 and a 1/2 months, and f'ing hell, I don't understand why he's got to be stubborn and just sit around WAITING for the stupid fire to come even CLOSER. I can't be there with him, I can't help him, I can't do ANYTHING, except wait for a horrible situation to get even worse before he does anything about it. He doesn't seem to understand why I'm so worried, and even more so since I'm so far away and helpless in this situation. Like, am I really the only person that would think to just get out JUST IN CASE?! Especially when a loved one is freaking out about your safety. Wouldn't you want to put their mind at ease??

In line with the 'it sucks that BFFs suck'.....

Quick background:
My b/f (not to be confused with bff tongue.gif lol) used to lived in Canada... he moved to California in April '08. In August he came back briefly for a friend's wedding... we met.... in October (6 months after he moved) he came back again to visit me. HIS BFF did not meet with him in August... probably too busy or something.
But in OCTOBER, the two of them were supposed to get together... She really wanted to meet me, and see him again, and so we made arrangements on hallowe'en night (shuffling around other plans to accommodate her) for her to meet us at the bar for a drink or two before we went to a costume party.

SHE STOOD US UP. NO f'ing phone call, no notice, no apology... NOTHING.. NO CONTACT AT ALL with my b/f for almost ANOTHER 6 months (until a couple weeks ago when she randomly messaged him).. ####### is THAT ... She ditched BOTH of us without ANY acknowledgment, and REALLY hurt his feelings and pissed ME off a lot (which, I'm sorry, but you don't want your BFFs SO to be pissed off at you as their first impression)... and I KNOW she didn't forget because they confirmed that very afternoon.

Adding my own review/experience:

The worst part was getting there. Scratch that, the worst part was getting there with two parents who wanted to refute any directions my GPS said...

Left at 2am. Was worried because the GPS said we'd be there by 6:45, so I was concerned about being late. We got there at 5:30... the damn thing was still set to pre-DST.

Waited for Starbucks to open, got a coffee. Went across the street at 6:20, and there was already a girl waiting inside. We waited, chatted a bit. They opened the doors shortly after 6:30.

The first gal and myself were taken in almost immediately. I paid, signed forms, handed over what I needed to.

Was directed down the hall for my x-ray, where an older blonde was sitting and drinking something warm. I asked her if it was tea or coffee, she smiled and said tea and instantly became my best friend. blink.gif Heh. Had me take any of my top-half coverings, told me where to stand, told me she was going to be positioning my arms and asked if I minded putting my hair up a little higher.

Got done with that, down the hall. Waited for about an hour in the patient's room (much comfier chair, I approved), during which time I had my blood pressure taken, etc. Changed into the flimsy little sheet thing (oh boy, was it ever cold in nothing but that) and waited for the doc. Wish I'd caught his name, as he was incredibly nice. I guess I must've been super-confident when I answered his question regarding whether or not I smoked, because he smiled and said "Oooh, someone has an opinion" and laughed. Very nice guy. Did a quick exam, nothing fancy. Nurse can in and did a rush-order breast exam (I swear I could've done a better job).

I had mentioned to the doc that I tend to faint with needles and blood, so he told me to inform the nurse when I went to the lab. I guess he told her anyhow, because when I walked in, she said "you the fainter?" haha. Mostly painless, though my vein's all bruised now. Not sure why, as that's never really happened.

So, second in line, and I was out by 8am. Not too shabby, just wish I hadn't sat in a car for eight hours on no sleep. tongue.gif

Good review smile.gif
I made a comment about someone's tea there too.. lol but it was the lady that takes the payments and what not. My arm was also bruised!! In fact there's still a hint of a bruise there now, a week later. laughing.gif

OH, and btw, I got my med results in the mail on Monday, so hopefully you should be good to have yours before you have to leave for Montreal smile.gif

Actually... some people still get their period, or have such irregular periods they don't notice any missing. I wish we could. I mean, I think we have a right to know what our own body's are doing and if it's going to affect anything.

I was thinking a few hours after I got it done that he asked me if I had had any surgeries, and I said no, then went on to ask me if I had any scars from surgeries. That confused me, because clearly the answer was no, so I said no right away, but I realized he might have been asking if I had any scars in general, in which case, of course the answer is yes (I mean, who reaches age 29 with NO scars?! LOL I have had no broken bones, but I have my share of scars). Anyways. Now I'm worried about that of course, cause I feel like I unintentionally lied.

oh.. I should add, I actually found blood-work lady to be crankier than X-ray lady. Not sure why. lol Oh well. All in all, it's a painless procedure (except my arm does hurt a bit from the bloodwork being done), and I think it's completely ridiculous that they can't have more of the Dr's offices in Canada allowed to do these exams. It's a pretty small office with narrow hallways, and I ended up in 5 different rooms for everything by the end of it (well, incl the waiting room).

I don't know specifically if I 'passed' or whatever, but they didn't ask me to bring anything else in so I assume it was all fine. I had the $, and my immunizations up to date, and had the letter from Montreal, and all that. So it was pretty straightforward. I have essentially no medical history though (LOL... more or less... no surgeries, no family doctor anymore (he retired, and is back near my hometown anyway), no diagnosis of any issues), so I was a pretty boring case for them. I actually mentioned it to the Dr. and he said 'that's ok we like boring around here'. laughing.gif

Anyways, if anyone wants a more detailed write up let me know, and I'll do one today before I forget everything.

Hey, I just wanted to pop in and say it's 8:10 and I'm done my medical and back at the hotel. lol

I don't have much to add other than what's been already said in this and other reviews. So, I didn't want to start a new thread for that.

But definitely recommend trying to get there by 6:30 to be out 'quick'. I was the first one there (arrived around 6:15, about 5 mins before the receptionist arrived to let me in). People really pour in at 7am.

Nothing exciting... no 'lady parts peek' for me, so that was nice. lol Xray lady didn't seem all that crazy. Just listen to what she asks, and realize that she probably gets a lot of people who don't listen to her every day. lol I also arrived before her morning coffee (lol) so gave her a break for that. I recommend just wearing your hair up if it's long.

If I think of anything else to add I will later... right now I have some free brekkie to attend to. tongue.gif lol

I am not at this stage yet but am wondering if the $50 courier fee is per person or will they put more than 1 file in it. I have myself and my 2 kids.

Not sure, but you could probably call or email them to ask.

Dr. Seiden's office in Toronto is:
Phone: 416-362-5603
Toll Free: 866-362-5603

FYI ....when you get your medical results the x-ray person's name is on the sheet that's inside the big x-ray envelope.

Oh really.
Thanks for the info.

I'm still wondering where my closest FedEx is, my mom isn't very happy about it, but it's either that or they drive me back to Toronto.

I haven't been paying attention to this part. What does Sean need to know about Fed Ex before he goes for his medical? Does he need to bring $$ or an envelop or something?

Have a look at http://panelphysicians.com/ if you haven't already. It's handy. It mentions there, as Rhiann also said, that it's $50 to mail out the results if you are unable to pick them up (about 2 business days later). That's just for anywhere in Ontario though.
I'm not sure if you are able to get a tracking number from the Dr's office. I will ask tomorrow if I remember (no promises that early in the morning.. LOL)

Probably London.

Also, I was gonna say I'll give X-Ray lady a nice evil glare for all of you.... but I'm scared... unsure.gif

Originally I was going to drive up with my folks and stay the night before to avoid a four hour drive in the morning (as my dad was crouchy at the thought).

Today he came to me and told me he thought it'd be a waste of money for us to spend the night before, why didn't I think of us just driving up that night? blink.gif
Oi.

So we're getting up really, really early and driving to Toronto. Yay!
Mean lady is going to hate me. smile.gif Maybe I'll offer her one of the eight million coffees I'll have had by that time.

Also, I was confused for a second there... saw the dress and wondered what thread I fell into. Haha.

Dude, if I was going up with someone else driving I'd totally just go up the morning of. I'm going by myself though, and don't want to get up that early and have to drive then sustain the horror of the waiting room. lol Then again, my drive is nearly 2 hours less than yours even. yikes.
